The Biography Channel is being replaced by a network devoted to the most fascinating person in the world: you
Following more than a decade of ironically trying to figure out who it was, the Biography Channel is going away next summer, A&E has announced, ending the ill-defined reality network it launched in 1999 as a home for its once-popular Biography series. As the years passed, and as viewers only came to be interested in peopleâs life stories if they involved murders or ghosts, Biography Channel renamed itself âBioâ and loaded up on shows about the paranormal and the mob in an increasingly familiar, desperate bid to keep up. And now that identity crisis will result in its total rebranding as FYIâan upscale lifestyle network with a âyounger and more modern sensibility,â according to a press release, which also says FYI stands for âfor your inspiration, for your imagination, or for your innovation.â
Related Content
But definitely not âfor your information,â as network president Jana Bennett says FYI will offer viewers âa less prescriptive, more adventurous approach to their taste, space, social life and look,â rather than the staid, dictatorial imposition of useful facts. âGone are the days where consumers are looking for experts to instruct them how to live,â Bennett says of this new age and generation, which prefers television that validates its self-aggrandizement, rather than forcing them to consider other people and their âknowledge.â
FYI has yet to announce any actual programming, but considering the press releaseâs talk about the channel âreflecting how people actually live their lives,â and its equally vague pronouncements of FYI being âa personalized experience for each viewer,â itâs possible FYI wonât air anything but a blank screen, thereby allowing people to just stare into their TVs like a mirror.

F1 Race Today: Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix 2024 start time & TV channel
Find out when and where to watch the 2024 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix as Max Verstappen looks to regain his dominance on the track.

After struggling with the updated version of the RB20 in Imola, finishing fifth, seventh, and sixth in the three practice sessions , Verstappen managed to find a good pace in the final run of Saturday's qualifying , securing a surprising pole position with 0.074 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri - who was then dropped to P5 for impeding Kevin Magnussen.
Now the grid is all set for a thrilling race today in Imola. Will McLaren and Ferrari 's significant upgrades shake up the order and deliver a surprise winner for the third time this season? Or will Verstappen be able to convert his 39th career pole into a hat-trick of wins at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari?
