As/a level in critical thinking (h052, h452), withdrawal of as/a level in critical thinking (h052, h452).
OCR is currently reforming its GCSEs, AS and A Levels in line with the government programme of general qualification reform. Unfortunately, A and AS Level qualifications in Critical Thinking (H052/H452) will be withdrawn despite our concerted efforts to redevelop the AS Level. We will continue to support and assess the qualifications up to the conclusion of the final resit series.
The final assessment opportunity will be in Summer 2018, with resit opportunities in Summer 2019. From 2017 the availability of assessment opportunities will be as follows:
*To find out more about resit rules for legacy AS and A Level qualifications please see the Legacy AS/A Level entry rules page on the OCR website.
We realise the withdrawal of this qualification may be disappointing news for centres who currently take our AS/A Level in Critical Thinking (H052/H452). However, we are recommending centres consider our Extended Project qualification (EPQ) (H856), which requires students to think critically, and demands that students use critical thinking and evaluation skills to produce an independent piece of research. Learn more about the benefits and how some of the key Critical Thinking skills and competences map onto the Extended Project qualification.
For further information on deadlines for submitting entries, entry amendments/withdrawals and the submission of marks for internal assessment please see the administration area.
If you have any queries about this notice, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 01223 553998 or email [email protected].
