University of Mumbai announces PET results for PhD, MPhil

The University of Mumbai (MU) on Saturday announced results for the preliminary eligibility test (PET). According to the information shared by the varsity, 55.8% of applicants for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and 47.5% Master of Philosophy (MPhil) applicants cleared the entrance test.

A total of 7,706 students appeared for the entrance test for PhD this year, and of them, 4,304 applicants passed the exam. Similarly, 223 students appeared for the entrance test for MPhil courses of which 106 students cleared the exam.

“The exam was held online between March 25 and 27 this year for a total of 79 subjects. Due to the lockdown, we could not hold this exam in 2020 so there were more applications this year,” said an official from MU.

This year, MU received more than 11,759 applications for this examination, including 11,352 for PhD and 407 applications for MPhil. This includes 4,914 male students and 6,437 female students for PhD programmes and 197 male and 210 female students for MPhil programmes.

M Phil, PhD PET dates announced by RTMNU

RTM Nagpur University has invited online applications for M Phil and PhD programme Entrance Test (PET) – 2022. The information about the online application form and relevant documents will be available on https://www.nagpuruniversity.ac.in sublink on PhD Cell portal from September 12.

The last date for submission of the application form is October 4. The tentative date of PET is October 17 to 20 and the result of the results is November 6.

The schedule of PhD registration will be announced after the declaration of the PET results.

University Of Mumbai has announced the results for PhD entrance test (PET 2021) for PhD and MPhil candidates at mu.ac.in . The candidates will have to login the online portal using their ID and password and access their PET 2021 results. The selected candidates will have to report at the University and pay the course fee and confirm their admission. The details for the same will be shared by the University.

The University said, “It has announced the results of the online PET examination conducted for the PhD and MPhil entrance examinations. Students will be able to view their exam results with the help of the link, user ID and password provided to them during the exam”.

PET 2021 Qualifying Criteria

The research candidates will have to score a minimum of 50 marks in the unreserved category and the reserved candidates will have to score at least 45 marks in MU PET 2021.

The entrance exam was conducted on March 26 and 27 in online mode for 79 subjects. PET question paper is of 100 marks. The question paper will have two sections of 50 marks each. Section A was based on research methodology and Section B had subject-specific questions.

The University also conducted a mock test to help the candidates understand the exam pattern.

Schedule for Online PET 2022 is as follows –

The Mock Test for applicants of PET 2022 is scheduled from 20th August, 2022 to 22nd August, 2022 in online mode.

Eligibility Criteria

• Master degree or MPhil in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade (50 % marks in case of reserved category candidates).
• Candidates appearing for the Final Year / Semester of the Master’s Degree Programme, as the case may be, of the concerned subject shall be allowed to appear for the online PET 2022. However, the results of PET-2022 of such candidates shall be valid only if they become otherwise eligible for admission to a Ph.D. Programme.

• Candidate has to apply online through the official website
• Check eligibility criteria before filling application form.
• Candidates shall retain the Print out of the online application for future reference.

Application Fee

Selection process.

• Selection will be based on the entrance test or exemption granted from such an entrance test and a subsequent personal Interview of candidates.
• There will be 70% weightage for PET score and 30% for performance in interview.

Exemption From Entrance Test

• Candidates having MPhil or having qualified GATE /SET/CSIR-NET/UGC-NET/SLET/INSPIRE or having JRF of apex bodies like CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DST/DBT/ICSSR are exempted from appearing in test.
• Candidates who have passed MPhil Program.

Instructions for PET 2024

• MGMU PET-2024 will be conducted on 08 June, 2024 at 11.00 am.as per the provisions of MGM University Ph.D. Ordinance No.-01 of 2023 for carrying out the admission to Ph.D. programs offered by colleges/Institutes/departments of the MGM University for the AY 2024-25
• Part- I Research Methodology. There will be 50MCQs to be attempted in 1 hour. Each question will carry 2 marks. There will be no negative marking.
• Part-II - Subject Specific Test. There will be 50 MCQs to be attempted in one hour. Each question will carry 2 marks. There will be no negative marking. This will be given to student as per the choice of his/her subject for the program.
• Research Methodology and Subject specific tests will be conducted, are mentioned in Appendix 'I'
• Conduct: The MGMU-PET-2024 will be conducted in the online mode in the MGM University Campus.
• Application for MGMU-PET-2024: Applications for the MGMU-PET-2024 are being received online through the Website of the MGM University. MGMU-PET-2024 Registration fee is Rs. 5000/- which will be paid online on the ERP.
• Intimation to candidates about the date & time of the PET: e-admit cards will be generated by the ERP cell. The admit card will give date/time of the tests, link for mock tests and the instructions for taking the test.
• Mock tests will be conducted on 06 June, 2024 at 11.00 am.as per the program given to the candidates.
• . Late login: Candidate can log in late up to 15 mins only from the start time. Thereafter, they will not be allowed to appear in the test. This will be mentioned in the test instructions given in the e-admit card.
• Issue of Score Card. The candidates will be issued their score card of the MGMU-PET-2024 after the result is approved by the Hon'ble Vice-chancellor of MGM University/
• Merit List. The selection of Candidates based on the entrance test conducted by the MGM University (MGMU-PET-2024), a weightge of 70 % for the entrance test and 30 % for the performance in the interview/Vivo-Voce conducted by the faculty wise Committee.

List of Research Methodology and Subject Specific Tests for PET : Academic Year 2024-25

The test will be in the online mode in the respective institute/ colleges/departments as under:, eligibility criteria.

• A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master's degree programme after a 3-year bachelor's degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed
• Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Duration of the Programme:

• Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including coursework, and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.
• A maximum of an additional two (2) years can be given through a process of re-registration as per the Statute/Ordinance of the Higher Educational Institution concerned; provided, however, that the total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme should not exceed eight (8) years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. programme. Provided further that, female Ph.D. scholars and Persons with Disabilities (having more than 40% disability) may be allowed an additional relaxation of two (2) years; however, the total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme in such cases should not exceed ten (10) years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. programme.
• Female Ph.D. Scholars may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave for up to 240 days in the entire duration of the Ph.D. programme.

Procedure for admission:

• The admission shall be based on the criteria notified by the University, keeping in view the guidelines/ norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory/regulatory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the Central/State Government from time to time.
• The University may admit students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGCNET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview.
• The University may admit students through a University Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) conducted at the University level. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology, and 50% shall be subject specific.
• Students who have secured 50 % marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview.
• A relaxation of 5 % marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time
• Provided that for the selection of candidates based on the entrance test conducted by the University, a weightage of 70 % for the entrance test and 30 % for the performance in the interview/viva- voce shall be given.
• The score of PET shall be valid for subsequent two academic years
• Redressal of grievance of candidate with respect to the conduct of the PET examination shall be resolved as per the provision made under Para 62 of ordinance no. 90 of 2022 in respect of Conduct of Examinations, Ordinance 2022

The University shall

• Notify a prospectus well in advance on the University's website specifying the number of seats for admission, subject/faculty-wise distribution of available seats, criteria for admission, the procedure for admission, and all other relevant information for the candidates;
• Adhere to the national/state-level reservation policy, as applicable.
• The University shall maintain a list of Ph.D. supervisors (specifying the name of the supervisor, his or her designation, and the College/Institute/Department/School/center), along with the details of Ph.D. scholars (specifying the name of the registered Ph.D. scholar, the topic of his/her research and the date of admission) admitted under them on the website of the University and update this list every academic year.

My fiancee just completed her medical interview, and they are telling her to take her results in a sealed envelope to her visa interview. I was under the impression that the results would be forwarded by the clinic prior to the interview for review by the embassy.

Has anyone else had any experience with this process recently?

It strictly depends upon the policy of the consulate and the medical facility. Many, many consulates require the fiance to pick up the medical report prior to the interview.  In Taiwan, that exactly what happens.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!! 😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes I have had similar experience.Note that they longer send it over to the embassy directly instead they ask you to carry the sealed envelope to the interview. When I went to the clinic for my results and was handed over the same I out of curiosity asked if the med report is fine to which they answered "If the report had not been fine,we would be contacting the embassy directly ..as long as you are being provided the report that means the report is fine".A high sigh of relief

The medical report is as good as any other document that you are required  to produce at  the time of interview.So no wrongs around it

Back when we did it, we had to pick up the results ourselves (I was with my fiancé for the interview), but I had heard that the clinic was now forwarding the results.  I guess it may have changed again, or may have something to do with the clinic.

A year ago, in March 2017, when we had our K1/K2 interviews, the results of our medical exams were sent directly to the consulate within 3 days after the completion the exam.

My information may be outdated as I've done it back in 2012 but back then I had to puck up envelope myself and bring it to the interview with other papers. There is not much to study for not medical professional so results had been briefly reviewed by the CO right before interview along with other papers I submitted.

That is what Katya did back in 2014.  In her case she took a plane (train to Moscow from Krasnoyarsk is 2-3 days), arrived on a Wednesday morning for her medical, then picked me up from SVO and headed to a rented flat near the US Consulate, we then walked to the clinic on Thursday after 12 noon and got her sealed envelope.  Her interview was on Friday morning, then we both left on Saturday.
