Insider Today

Some movies are cinematic achievements that will be talked about until the end of time — these are not those movies.

Every year there has to be one movie that's not just panned by critics but absolutely hated by them. And here they are.

Searching deep into the Rotten Tomatoes site we have uncovered the most rotten of the bunch. They are made up of classics stories like "The Nutcracker," infamous people in history like John Gotti, and several movies starring Nicolas Cage and Adam Sandler.

Here we give to you the worst reviewed movie for each year for the last decade (yes, it includes the 2020 movie with the current worst Rotten Tomatoes score).

Note: If movies tied for worst score, the one with the most reviews was chosen.

What it's about: Set in 1920s Vienna, a young girl (Elle Fanning) receives a doll on Christmas Eve that leads to a night of magic. But even putting it in 3D didn't impress the critics.

What a critic thought: "Delivering the cinematic equivalent of a lump of coal in a Christmas stocking." — Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter

2011: "Jack & Jill" — 3%

worst movie reviews rotten tomatoes

What it's about: Adam Sandler plays two characters in this comedy in which he's an advertising executive whose life is turned upside down when his annoying sister (yes, played by him, too) shows up. Even a bizarro performance by Al Pacino could not salvage this movie.

What a critic thought: "Adam Sandler has succumbed to the Eddie Murphy syndrome. He's afflicted with the belief that we can't get enough of him." — Sandra Hall, Sydney Morning Herald

2012: "A Thousand Words" — 0%

2015: "The Ridiculous 6" — 0%

What it's about: Adam Sandler's first Netflix movie was a dud for critics. In the movie, he plays a Western outlaw who discovers he has five half brothers.

The Best of the Worst-Ranked Rotten Tomatoes Movies, Including Corey Feldman and Pauly Shore Classics

Pop-quiz hotshot. You have ten students craving alcoholic beverages in a store containing your high school principal. What do you do? What…do…you…do??

Over the years, masses of movie lovers have come to rely on the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes as a source they can trust as to whether a film is worth watching or not. It’s not a bad system: the site averages the good and bad reviews of each film and comes up with a percentage score and a status of either fresh or rotten. But there are many large and small factors that can easily affect the accuracy of this system. Whether it’s that most of the critics who reviewed a particular film are not “top critics” (the status given to professional critics at the most trustworthy of entertainment sites), or that only a very small number (maybe only one, in fact) of reviews are actually accumulated for a movie’s score, Rotten Tomatoes is not infallible. Below are some of the films that may have been given a raw deal thanks to the RT system. Give them a shot, won’t you?

1) Bio-Dome – 4%

Viva los bio-dome! For those who remember that incorrectly stated Spanish sentence, this is a shout-out to one of the most ridiculous, absurd movies in Pauly Shore ’s portfolio. And that’s stating a lot. Yes, it’s dumb, it’s trashy, it’s got Pauly Shore and the least respected Baldwin brother ( Stephen Baldwin ) running the show. But it is a stoner comedy for the ages. When these two nitwits get locked inside an experimental bio-dome for a year, they need to make the best of it. That means eating all the stored food supplies, sucking down tanks of nitrous oxide, and hitting on the two gorgeous (of course) female scientists in the dome, one of which is played by pop singer Kylie Minogue . However, after a major rager and an attempted bombing by Dr. Noah Faulkner (the always annoying William Atherton from Ghostbusters , the guy who shut down the team’s containment unit), Pauly and company pull together to make the bio-dome an ecological success! I love a good underdog story.

2) Dream a Little Dream – 0%

This would only really mean something to a fan of the Coreys: the eighties/nineties actors Corey Haim and Corey Feldman , who starred in a number of movies together. This wasn’t one of their most popular. They reached their height in The Lost Boys , and did a pretty good job with License to Drive as well. But Dream a Little Dream is not without its good points. First of all, it’s one of the only movies in which Feldman got top billing over Haim, which is just plain interesting to see. Also, it features a supernatural premise in which an old man’s soul trades places with that of Feldman’s, and Feldman must spend much of the movie figuring out how to switch bodies back. The answer is, of course, love. Doesn’t that just warm your heart?

3) Fantastic Four – 7%

Fantastic Four (2015) was Fox’s attempt to reboot the Marvel comics property after two less-than-successful entries in the franchise. Even the Silver Surfer himself couldn’t save the aforementioned sequel. The 2015 version stars a fresh cast of talented young actors ( Miles Teller , Kate Mara , Michael B. Jordan , etc...) and a premise based more on the Ultimate Universe of the Marvel mythology. While it’s not nearly what fans had hoped for, it’s head and shoulders above the previous incarnations, and a solid attempt at kickstarting the franchise back into life. No doubt Disney will soon save this beloved property from mediocrity, but until then, this movie remains the best of what Fox could offer with the material at hand. It deserves better than the critical killing that it received.

4) Cool World – 0%

This movie was a deep dive into a dark world mixing animation and live action – something that doesn’t come along very often. Even Who Framed Roger Rabbit ’s voluptuous Jessica Rabbit didn’t come close to the crazy adult content present in this film. That’s not to say that Kim Basinger ’s cartoon form is enough to promote a viewing here. The point is that this is some wild, wacky material that deserves some attention, if just for the rarity of the experience itself. Plus, this is where Brad Pitt came into the public knowledge, and he’s never looked better or cooler. Hey, it’s in the title.

5) National Lampoon’s Senior Trip – 0%

Now this really is a movie that deserved better. It was a classic stoner teen comedy, with a plethora of talent behind it, including the hilarious Matt Frewer as the principal, who will sink to any depths for a laugh, Tommy Chong of Cheech and Chong fame as the pill-head bus driver, Kevin McDonald , my own personal favorite member of The Kids in the Hall comedy troupe as a psychotic Star Trek-obsessed crossing guard, and the very first appearance of the MCU’s Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner , as, well… the popular idiot in charge of the proceedings. It was funny, it was poignant (to a degree), and it was just a really, really fun watch. Watch this movie. You will laugh.

6) The Stoned Age – 0%

Now this one is a real obscurity. It was a movie about two dudes driving around in the seventies trying to find chicks. The plot deepens about a half an inch, but it’s a fun ride, with a kick-ass soundtrack featuring "Blue Oyster Cult," a bunch of seventies easter eggs including Frankie Avalon , and a whole bunch of ridiculous pot-fueled jokes, many of which make their landing. It’s also the first appearance of the very talented Clifton Collins, Jr. , and features an ending about what really matters in relationships, and about how to handle bullies, even if they’re your friends. This may all sound trite, but when mixed together, it forms a really funny, nostalgic, cohesive whole.

7) An American Werewolf in Paris – 7%

How do you follow up a cult classic gem like An American Werewolf in London ? Not like this. However, the sequel did have many things going for it. The cast included Tom Everett Scott , who has made quite a few vehicles better for having had him, as well as Julie Delpy , the French actress who made Before Sunrise and Before Sunset such beautiful experiences. Further, the werewolf transformation technology was pretty good for its time. The supporting cast, featuring Vince Vieluf and fan favorite Phil Buckman afforded the proceedings much in the way of comedy and action. I remember seeing this movie in a theater and being pleasantly surprised when the audience did a standing ovation after Buckman parkoured his way out of a basement window, escaping from an imprisoned werewolf. I had to stand up and applaud myself. It was bad-ass.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 Ending Explained

The strangers: chapter 1 cast & character guide, the strangers reboot box office debuts with huge milestone despite franchise's low rotten tomatoes score.

  • The Strangers: Chapter 1 has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 21%.
  • This is the lowest score of the entire three-movie franchise so far.
  • This low score could potentially impact the reception of the entire planned prequel trilogy.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 has broken a Rotten Tomatoes record for the home invasion horror franchise. The new movie, which stars Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez as a couple whose Airbnb is invaded by masked killers, is a standalone follow-up to the 2008 original and its 2018 sequel, Prey at Night . It is intended to be the first of a prequel trilogy. The Strangers: Chapter 1 release is set to be followed by Chapter 2 later in 2024 and Chapter 3 at a date that has not yet been set.

Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated the first official score for The Strangers: Chapter 1 . With 33 critics weighing in, the movie has earned a thoroughly Rotten score of 21% , far below the 60% threshold to be considered Fresh. Although this score could fluctuate as more reviews are added throughout the movie's theatrical run, at the time of writing it is the worst yet for the entire three-movie Strangers franchise.

Will This Low Rotten Tomatoes Score Hurt The New Strangers Trilogy?

Every strangers movie has earned a rotten score.

With The Strangers: Chapter 1 cast centering on Petsch, who is fresh off the seven-season run of her hit CW show Riverdale , this could help boost its commercial prospects.

This low Rotten Tomatoes score is an ignominious debut for the planned trilogy. All three movies have already been shot , meaning that they will likely all premiere one way or another, even if the scores begin to dip even lower. In fact, the studio's commitment to putting out the full trilogy is belied by the fact that there is a The Strangers: Chapter 1 post-credits scene . However, there is a distinct possibility that at least the third movie could transition to a streaming release if prospects grow increasingly grim.

This low Rotten Tomatoes score may not look so bad within the broader context of the entire franchise. Although the new installment has earned the lowest score of the franchise thus far, none of the three Strangers movies have received a Fresh score from critics on the platform, despite the fact that the original can be considered a modern cult classic. Below, see how the Rotten Tomatoes results, from both critics and audiences, compare to the box office results for the trio of titles:

While Prey at Night 's lower Rotten Tomatoes score does correlate to a lower box office gross, it's not lower than the original by a significant enough margin to imply that the numbers are related. With The Strangers: Chapter 1 cast centering on Petsch, who is fresh off the seven-season run of her hit CW show Riverdale , this could help boost its commercial prospects. However, if its audience score and total gross turn out as low as the critic score, the upcoming two movies could be facing huge hurdles.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is available to see in theaters.

The Strangers: Chapter 1

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is the third film in the horror/slasher franchise directed by Renny Harlin. The film follows a young couple who move to the Pacific Northwest to start a new life. However, their new life gets off to a terrifying start when a broken-down vehicle forces them to stay at a remote vacation home, leaving them to be stalked relentlessly by three masked murderers.

25 of the Worst Horror Movies Ever Made, According to Rotten Tomatoes

By mike rampton | may 17, 2024.

We're gonna need a bigger tomato for this one.

Horror is unfairly maligned as a genre . If we think of high art as work that provokes an intellectual response and low art as something that provokes more of a physical one, horror falls firmly in the latter category for most. After all, shrieking in terror is a pretty physical response.

While there are absolutely some undeniable masterpieces in the horror genre, there are also a lot of schlocky stinkers. It’s not always about budget, either. Classics like The Blair Witch Project (1999), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), and Night Of The Living Dead (1968) were all made for peanuts but went on to transcend those limitations and make a big impact on pop culture.

Usually even a crappy horror movie has something going for it. But you’d be hard-pressed to find anything worth writing home about when it comes to the flicks that made it onto Rotten Tomatoes’ roundup of the worst horror movies of all time, like 2008’s One Missed Call . A remake of the 2003 Japanese horror movie of the same name by Takashi Miike, it placed first overall and has a score of 0 percent on the site, with film critic Wesley Morris dubbing it “hopelessly disconnected” and “another demonstration of how certain studios and producers care neither about us nor the skill required to pull off a respectable work of garbage.”

Other entrants onto the list—like FeardotCom (2002) and 2023’s Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey —did slightly better, earning a 3 percent score overall. But within the top 25, nothing cracks past a 6 percent score, and there are plenty of cynical by-the-numbers remakes (like 2017’s Flatliners ) and sequels with recycled plots (see: 1988’s Return of the Living Dead Part II ) to go around. You can check out the worst of the worst down below. Bear in mind that to even make it onto the rankings to begin with, these flicks had to have at least 20 reviews. (Ouch.)

Making a completely unwatchable horror film takes some doing. Further on, we break down the six that scored a flat 0 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Remarkably, one actor— Michael Landes of Final Destination 2 (2003) and the first season of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman , both of which are great—pops up in two of these. It’s not his fault!

One Missed Call (2008) // 0 Percent Score

Jaws: the revenge (1987) // 0 percent score, cabin fever (2016) // 0 percent score, the disappointments room (2016) // 0 percent score, homecoming (2009) // 0 percent score, beneath the darkness (2011) // 0 percent score.

Premise: This 2008 J-horror remake focuses on a curse that manifests through phone calls and results in candy popping out of dead people’s mouths.

“Fun” fact: Guillermo Del Toro passed up the opportunity to direct this in order to focus on Hellboy II: The Golden Army , which has a vastly more impressive 86 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Better movies to watch instead: The Ring (2002), The Grudge (2004)

Premise : Apparently great white sharks are big on holding a grudge, because in this follow-up to the 1975 summer blockbuster, one is out for vengeance against the Brody family and is willing to head down to the Bahamas to get it.

“Fun” fact : Star Michael Caine won his first Oscar in 1986 for Hannah and Her Sisters , but missed the ceremony because he was too busy shooting this clunker. He famously quipped: “I have never seen [ Jaws: The Revenge ], but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.”

Better movies to watch instead: Jaws (1975), Cujo (1983)

Premise: This inexplicable remake of 2002’s Cabin Fever follows the original beat for beat but doesn’t have the novelty value of starring the guy from Boy Meets World . Why was this film made? Your guess is as good as ours.

“Fun” fact: One of the decisions the creative team made for their remake was to remove the comedic elements of the original.

Better movies to watch instead: The Evil Dead (1981), 28 Days Later (2002)

Premise: A New York couple moves to rural North Carolina and are either haunted by the house’s previous occupants, go bonkers or—get this—possibly both.

“Fun” fact: Some of the North Carolina locations used in this movie were also used in Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth (which has 38 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes).

Better movies to watch instead: The Others (2001), Poltergeist (1982)

Premise: An obsessive stalker does a Misery on her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend and predictably, chaos ensues.

“Fun” fact: One of the filming locations was North Allegheny Senior High School in Pennsylvania, whose alumni include Christina Aguilera.

Better movies to watch instead: Misery (1990), Single White Female (1992)

Premise: An unhinged mortician-turned-murderer terrorizes a group of teenagers when they discover his secret (which involves dancing with his wife’s corpse).

“Fun” fact: Beneath The Darkness grossed a mere $9600 at the domestic box office.

Better movies to watch instead: Psycho (1960), The Shining (1980)

Shia LaBeouf’s new film debuts with terrible score on Rotten Tomatoes

Close up of Shia LaBeouf in a suit

Megalopolis, starring Shia LaBeouf and Adam Driver , debuted at Cannes Film Festival to harsh reviews and a tragically low review score.

The epic sci-fi film is set in an alternate modern-day New York where architect Cesar Catilina ( Adam Driver ) dreams of building the city into a utopia but his ambitions are challenged by Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito).

From acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola , the ‘Roman Epic fable’ has been in the early stages of production since the 1980s. Coppola’s $120million (£94million) passion project finally had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival.

Despite the forty-year process, the crude, vulgar, at times incestuous, and fast-paced extravaganza seems to have landed far from perfection.

According to festival reports, the film received a seven-minute-long standing ovation with a mixture of applause and booing.

It initially debuted on the official film review site Rotten Tomatoes at a mere 38%, before slowly climbing to a controversial 50% at the time of writing.

A shockingly low score for a film packed with star talent including LaBeouf, Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman.

The Metro.co.uk review dubbed it ‘one of the worst films I’ve ever seen’ , adding: ‘Megalopolis is by far the most startling, grand and at times incomprehensible film that [Coppola has] made.’

This is a sharp departure from the fan hype around the film after the trailer dropped earlier this month in which Megalopolis was called ‘already the greatest movie ever made’ and his ‘best work’.

A still of Shia LaBeouf in MEGALOPOLIS

This is the first feature-length project LaBeouf has appeared in since his lead role 2022 biopic Padre Pio as the titular Italian priest.

In the film the 37-year-old Hollywood actor stars as Cesar’s antagonistic cousin Clodio, known for sleeping with his sisters. He takes up his own offensive against the architect, cleaving the city’s inhabitants even further apart.

The decadent, ancient Rome-inspired romp has a bitterly divided reception.

The Times offered up a measly one-star review , labelling the film a ‘head-wrecking abomination’.

Two women in flower crowns and white dresses.. A still from Megalopolis trailer

‘This is 138 stultifying minutes of ill-conceived themes, half-finished scenes, nails-along-the-blackboard performances, word-salad dialogue and ugly visuals all seemingly in search of a story that isn’t there,’ the reviewer concluded.

The Daily Beast described the production as ‘stilted, earnest, over the top, CGI ridden, and utterly a mess’ ultimately destined to become a ‘cult classic’.

Meanwhile, the Guardian slammed Coppola’s vision , describing it as a ‘passion project without passion’.

The review continued: ‘[it’s] a bloated, boring and bafflingly shallow film, full of high-school-valedictorian verities about humanity’s future.’

Many reviewers seemed just as conflicted as the down-the-middle Rotten Tomatoes score.

A crowd holding clodio posters. A still from Megalopolis

‘Is it a good movie? Not by a long stretch. But it’s not one that can be easily dismissed, either,’ Hollywood Reporter posed .

While the Los Angeles Times concluded that once the audience let go of another Coppola ‘masterpiece’ (such as the Godfather Trilogy), ‘there is much to enjoy in Megalopolis, especially its cast members, leaning into their moments with an abandon that was probably a job requirement’.

There were a handful who thoroughly enjoyed the movie. ‘He’s done it again, and perhaps exceeded himself. Megalopolis might be the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,’ Vulture remarked .

Despite the poor score given the eye-watering budget, the 85-year-old director has no regrets about splurging hundreds of millions of dollars.

‘I don’t care. I never cared,’ he said. ‘I put the risk in the movie. I have no problems with the financials.

‘My children, without exceptions, have wonderful careers without a fortune. They don’t need a fortune.

‘It’s how I felt the film should be, and I was paying for it…. There are so many people who, when they die, say, “I wish I had done that.” When I die, I’ll say, “I got to do that”.’

There is currently no release date for Megalopolis.

The 30 Worst-Reviewed Remakes of All Time

Second time’s the harm for these Rotten remakes, with each critically-trashed film here scored well below 30% on the Tomatometer. It’s probably no surprise there’s plenty of horror remakes on here (especially during those flare-ups when Hollywood would plunder overseas for material to adapt for American audiences) but since we’ve already got a worst horror movies list , let’s focus on the remakes that made critics scream without the tacky jump scares. Die Hard director John McTiernan virtually killed his career with the Rollerball reboot, and love made Guy Ritchie do some screwy things, like putting Madonna in Swept Away . Nicolas Cage double-dipped with Bangkok Dangerous and The Wicker Man , putting his image in a tail-spin until his rehabilitation in recent years. Tom Cruise proved he CAN’T do it all with The Mummy , immediately unravelling the Dark Universe. And the FBI may pay you to surf, but they’re certainly not wasting taxpayer dollars on a decent action flick in Point Break.

Beneath the Darkness Rotten Tomatoes

Bad movie enthusiasts rejoice, we have a treat in store for you. Martin Guigui’s Beneath the Darkness , which holds the dishonorable distinction of being ranked as the sixth-worst horror film of all time by Rotten Tomatoes , is now available to stream for free. Hooray!

In addition to sitting at a perfect 0% rating with Rotten Tomatoes critics, the film boasts (?) an approval rating of just 15% from Rotten Tomatoes audience members. Additionally, the picture sits at a well-below average 4.5 out of 10 from IMDb users. Yikes.

If you are a glutton for punishment, or maybe you are just a curious soul with time to burn, you can find the picture available on Tubi as of the publication of this post. The advertisement-averse set will be pleased to know that the flick is also accessible on Hulu .

I have a vague recollection of taking in this much-maligned offering more than a decade ago and can’t recommend it as an entertaining effort. But I can safely say that anyone who enjoys riffing on bad movies with a group of friends will likely find plenty to (dis)like about this 2012 offering.

Beneath the Darkness features the legendary Dennis Quaid in a starring role but the seasoned thespian’s talent is sadly wasted. Starring alongside Quaid are Tony Oller, Aimee Teegarden, Stephen Ford, and Devon Werkheiser.

The setup goes as follows: After watching their best friend get murdered, a group of teens struggle to expose a local hero as the vicious killer and keep from becoming his next victims.

That’s all we have for you for the time being, dear reader. But please stay tuned to the site for more exciting updates on what’s streaming where in the near future. Additionally, be sure to follow @DreadCentral on Twitter so you never miss an update.

One Of The Worst Marvel Movies Ever Dominates Netflix

marvel movie netflix madame web

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has developed into one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises. Of course, that doesn’t mean every Marvel film has been a hit. In fact, one of the worst reviewed Marvel movies ever is now available to stream on Netflix – and it’s the number one movie on the platform.

Though Disney’s Marvel Studios has been in a rough patch with their releases in recent years, it’s Sony that has struggled even more with their own comic book movies. While the studio has collaborated with Marvel on the largely successful MCU Spider-Man movies, they have had less success on their own.

The studio did come up with the Venom film series that stars Tom Hardy. Both Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage have been quite popular with fans. However, their release of Morbius with Jared Leto has not. (Unless you count the memes that even prompted Sony to bring it back to theaters for a short time, albeit where it still did not make much money.)

Now Sony’s latest release, Madame Web , has faced a similar fate. Though it’s been quite popular on the internet for the memes it’s inspired, it hasn’t exactly been considered a great superhero venture by most. Now, however, the mixed-to-negatively received Spider-Man spin-off is the number one streamed movie on Netflix.

Obviously this will grant an opportunity for many subscribers to see the film for the first time, especially if they chose not to see it in theaters. However, it’s unknown if there’s any possibility for a grand reevaluation. At least at this point in time. Nevertheless, there are fans of Madame Web out there – despite its 57% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes .

Ultimately, we’ll have to see what kind of shelf life Madame Web has with superhero fans. For now, however, it remains one of the worst reviewed Marvel movies of its time – and one that certainly has fans questioning what Sony has planned next in their side franchise of Marvel characters.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Sony’s Marvel projects or the more mainstream Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them. In the meantime, Sony’s Marvel movie Madame Web is available to stream on Netflix – if that’s something superhero fans are interested in watching, of course.

Trier is a gifted storyteller. The Worst Person in the World shows off the filmmaker’s command of rhythm and his affinity for the perfectly placed pop song.

The soul of the film is exploring how life is about figuring it out. It speaks to this idea that at some point we are all destined to blossom into these superior beings we were told we would be at a young age leading to waiting instead of living.

Through Reinsve's depiction of Julie combined with a resounding script to work with, she shares with us the realization that life is fleeting, confusing, unfair and excruciating, but so incredibly beautiful.

One of the more profound moments comes from a monologue given by someone who is facing down his own mortality.

And yet, this is not the sort of film that’s laugh-out-loud, joke after joke that audiences are used to in the rom-com genre. The Worst Person in the World is much quieter in its humor, finding jokes in the absurdity of the shared human condition.

The Worst Person In The World feels revelatory for the empathy it lends to the turn of time. Trier trades ‘what’ with ‘how’: how does it feel to be turning 30? This question inform all his decisions.

The Worst Person in The World is a superb film that captures the anxiety many feel in their 20s as they struggle to reach their potential while being a moving and yet somewhat uplifting tale of love and loss with electric performances

It’s impressive enough for a film to present a character that feels this authentic and fully realized. This film goes beyond that with Renate Reinsve’s Julie to give us someone who faces so many challenges that are felt by an entire generation.

Julie is a kind of dream girl for the modern male feminist: a fantasy of liberated womanhood disguised as an exemplar of the “millennial” condition.

Few films have more potently exposed the empty romance of the autonomous self, “empowered” to live free of the sacrifices requisite in things like marriage, parenthood, and rootedness.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind meets Fleabag in Norway with this smart romcom about a drifting bookshop worker (Renate Reinsve) nearing 30.

The film's free spirit justifies the slightly melodramatic ending because just as its protagonist, The Worst Person in the World never takes its actions into account as it seeks freedom from social norms. [Full review in Spanish]

Hilarious, romantic, and poignant, The Worst Person in the World … tells something true about a woman’s experience.

While Trier’s film is frequently dynamic and funny, a wistfulness emerges in the second half as the characters contemplate lost time and missed chances.

As a snapshot of an age and life stage, Trier helms a film that's canny and incisive, also perfects the sensation of constantly zipping onwards even when it seems as if you're stuck, and knows how to find both joy and darkness in tandem.
