Topic: Are parents best teachers?

Obviously, the first teachers we have in our lives in most cases are our parents. They teach us to walk, to speak, and to have good manners before we reach “the real world. ” More than even the professional teachers that we have at school, parents are generally the most involved in the development and education of children.

Almost for sure our parents are the best teachers at the beginning of our lives, which actually corresponds to the parents’ role in nature. Parents are most committed and involved in teaching their children; they have a kind of instinct to sacrifice a part of themselves for the betterment of their children. They love us and have great patience while passing down their knowledge to us. They wish us a success and thus will not teach us bad things. And of course, implicit learning occurs when children unconsciously copy some of their parents’ habits and styles of behavior.

During the second stage of child development, adolescence, parents can still be in the best position to offer advice even though the children might not accept it. In this case, perhaps the child’s friends would be the best teachers. Adolescents are notoriously rebellious in many cultures and may automatically reject any advice from their parents. My first marriage for instance, was solely a matter of doing the opposite when my parents tried to intrude in offering their advice. So in such matters, parents should be much more flexible and be rather the partners with their children. So we can see that being a teacher of growing child become more and more complicated case as the time passes and many parents are simply not able to meet the increased demands.

On the other hand, I would say that parents are not professional teachers and they tend to be very biased by their love of their children. So wishing good things and an easy life may prevent children from maturation. In any case, parents usually can present only one viewpoint of the world, while good teaching should be based on different attitudes. Thus, when children go to school and have a great diversity of teachers, they learn much more than their parents could probably give them. Furthermore, once our parents get older, they become more conservative and cannot always be objective in regard to modern trends and fashions. Thus we need to take their advice with caution during that period. However, some kind of intuition that I believe shared between relatives about what everybody needs and great love that exists in families still makes our parents very good teachers and advisers at any time.

In conclusion, while parents are not the ideal teachers, and well-rounded children will generally need a great diversity of teachers in their lives in order to have a more accurate view of the world, parents are generally the most committed of all teachers and have the greatest emotional investment in their children and their future.

Our entire education system is based on what we accumulate each day of our life. In spite of the fact that school teachers are those who give us lots of information in a variety of fields, our parents are still the best teachers; they start their educational process as soon as we were born and never stop teaching us.

In the initial years of our life, our parents are involved in guiding us, in modulating our personality and making us understand the differences between right and wrong. When I was five, my parents bought me a dog; they taught me how to take care of him, feed him, play with him and bath him. Thus, I learned that we all have responsibilities.

Even if parents are not specialized in education, their role in teaching the children to be aware of the need of improving their knowledge at school is tremendous. Our parents are not supposed to teach us Math, Chemistry or Biology, but they are very much involved in giving us lessons about being independent, strong and confident in ourselves. As my mother said to me, “fight your own battles because I will not be always able to protect you.”

Teenagers have to be informed about all the negative effects that can occur if using drugs, drinking alcohol, or smoking. Regarding this issue, parents have to cooperate with school teachers to make children aware of those possible risks.

I believe that parents are the best teachers because their lessons last forever. My parents are old now. Even when I am a grown up person, I consider that they can still give me very good advices when I need them, based on their life experience. My parents have the most important roll in my education during my life and I will always be grateful for everything they have taught me.

Throughout all the years in my life, I was influenced by my parents in many fashions, from the way of thinking to the trifle everyday habits. No doubt, we inherit the gene from our parents and get basic knowledge and norms from them. What we learned from our parents in the early years will be encoded in our mind and be reflected in nearly every aspect of our behaviors. But in terms teaching, I do not think it’s our parents who are the best teachers.

As is known to all, a child will be better trained with a systematic education. However, except those parents who are schoolteachers themselves, few parents grasp the systematic way of teaching. On the one hand, children can only learn a large scope of knowledge step by step from formal education at schools. On the other hand, the parents can only teach their children sporadic knowledge. It is obvious that the young will be better equipped through formal education in classroom.

From the emotional angle, the bond between child and parents are so tight that the parents cannot give a more objective instruction than a schoolteacher can. Some parents tend to spare their children from hard working and, to the extreme, some even spoil their children to do everything they want. All these are resulted from parents’ love toward children. But from an objective angle, hardworking is sometimes a necessary step toward success. Parents should not be blamed for loving their children but such love may become obstacle for objective instruction.

With the coming of the knowledge economic, we may find that our parents’ knowledge is becoming obsolete. In a changing world, the young are always the first to fashion the news ideas and technology. The elderly, however, are always not used to such rapid changes. Thus, conflicts are inevitable between parents and their children. Accordingly, the young are no longer willing to commit to their parents ideas. To catch the tide of such changes, it is of the best interest for the young to learn from the open world instead of from the obsolete knowledge of their parents.

All this is not to say that to learn from parents is useless. In fact, even in the rapidly changing world, the scope of parents’ knowledge still has great influence on their children, especially on young children. But for the young to get the most needed knowledge, they should not solely rely on what they learned from their parents.

Nowadays, some may hold the opinion that parents are the best teachers. But others have a negative attitude. As far as I am concerned, I agree with this statement because, obviously, the first teachers we have in our lives in most cases are our parents. They teach us how to walk, how to speak, and what are good manners and bad manners before we reach the real world. Therefore, parents are the people who influence their children most, and children will carry on qualities of their parents. More than even the professional teachers that we have at school, parents are generally the most involved in the development and education of children. The reasons are presented below.

One of the primary reasons is that our parents are the teachers at the beginning of our lives, which actually corresponds to the parents’ role in nature. First, parents are most committed and involved in teaching their children and have a kind of instinct to sacrifice a part of themselves for the betterment of their children. Second, they love their children and have great patience while passing down their knowledge to us. They wish us to become success and thus will not teacher us bad things. Surely, children will unconsciously copy some of their parents’ habits and styles of behavior. Besides, parents will become their first role models.

There is also a more subtle point we must consider. During the second stage of child development, adolescence, parents can still be in the best position to offer advices even though the children might not accept it. In this case, perhaps the child’s friends would be the best teachers. Adolescents are notoriously rebellious in many cultures and may automatically reject and advice from their parents. In such matters, parents should be much more flexible and rather be friends with their children. However, many parents simply are not able to meet the increased demands, being teachers of their growing children.

What is more, I would say that parents are not professional teachers and they tend to be very biased by their love of their children. As a result, wishing good things and an easy life may prevent children from maturation. Frequently, parents usually present only one viewpoint of the world, while good teaching should be based on different attitudes. For this reason, children may learn probably more if they have a great diversity of teachers other than the parents. Furthermore, technology develops very quickly; and parents may not always be objective in regard to modern trends and give children proper advices. However, I believe that the care and love among family members still makes our parents very good teachers and advisers at any time.

Taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that parents are obviously the most committed of all teachers. Although well-rounded children will generally need a great diversity of teachers, parents can provide them the greatest emotional support in their lives without a substitute.

Are parents are best teachers? Different people will give different responses to this question from their own characters, emotional concerns and even educational backgrounds. However, when it comes to me, I believe that parents are our best teachers for the following reasons.

In the first place, parents are the people who are closest to us and who understand our real needs best. From infancy on, our parents have witnessed every step in both our physical and mental development. They share every hint of happiness or unhappiness with us and they even know what a little gesture of us might indicate. Based on such a deep understanding, our parents will teach us what we are interested in and what we are not. For instance, they can often buy books on our favored topics such as sea animals and astronomical objects. Little by little, we can mature our minds and broaden our horizons in our favorite fields. (Or are we prospective artists, scientists, teachers, or even businesspeople? Our parents might tell that at our early ages. Consequently, they will give us specific encouragement and abundant resources in our favored fields. Sometimes, our parents can even point out a direction to our future professional goals. Will other people do that for us based on such a solid understanding of u s ? )

In the second place, our experienced parents are our best teachers of today’s complicated society. From our teachers at school, we can learn sophisticated knowledge. But how can our teachers tell us how to communicate with others, how to deal with strangers, how to behave in different occasions, and how to make important decisions of our daily life? Only our parents, who will spend their whole life loving us, caring us will tell us how to steer our own boats in the ocean of life without selfish consideration.

Admittedly, our friends and school teachers could provide us with valuable advice now and then, and maybe it will be easier for us to follow their suggestions. Their effects on us cannot be neglected or replaced by our parents. And parents might spoil their children or even interfere with children’s privacy because of love. To be honest, the roles of these two kinds of people cannot be replaced by each other. However, it seems to me that only our parents, who will spend their whole life with us, will be our best teachers, not only for now but also for our whole life.

All in all, if all the factors are contemplated, we can easily reach a conclusion that, parents are not only our first teachers but also our best teachers. Let’s be carefully aware of this point and take better care of our parents to repay their efforts to teach us.

Parents are the most committed, the most influential, and almost the best teachers any child can have. The amount of time a child interacts with parents makes them the most influential force in a child’s life. The child gets to learn the most basics of things like walking, speaking and interacting with others. It is under the protections of parents that a child learns to behave in society and to comfort him or herself.

Although parents are the most influential teachers in their children’s life, they may not be regarded as the best teachers. Parents generally provide a biased view of the world; they always favor their child, and thus they cannot provide a complete panoramic view of the society. Also parents may set a bad example for their child by abusing and fighting amongst themselves. Psychologists and recent crime charts have proved that young outlaws generally come from disrespectful families, and have grown up in extreme environments.

A child interacts with many kinds of teachers at schools and colleges. Although these teachers, being professionals, have limited time to devote to a child, they provide a complete and diverse view to their students. They provide unbiased guidance to a child.

During the years of adolescence, children tend to be aggressive and non-conforming to others’ views. So the parents need to act like friends rather than teachers to get their experiences through to their children. Eventually, it is the parents who provide an environment for a child to develop and mature, and thus have the capacity to be the best teachers to their child. What is important is to provide an unbiased view to their child, to motivate independent thinking and actuate timely maturation.

Sample essay

According to some people, parents make the best teachers for their children. I fully agree with this view because parents are the greatest influence on any child and the upbringing that they give will determine what the child will ultimately become in their life.

Parents are the first and foremost influence on any child. For many children, during the first few years of their life, parents are the only people in their life. They learn all important life skills from their father and mother. Parents not only teach their children to walk and talk, but also play a crucial role in shaping their character.

The seeds of character are sown during childhood and if children receive the right upbringing grounded on moral values, they will stay true to their conscience throughout their lives. By contrast, children raised by parents who lack moral values are more likely to become criminals when they grow up. That is because children learn a lot by observing and imitating. They observe each and every action of their parents and do exactly what their dad or mom does. So, for example, if children find that their parents are always honest in their dealings, they learn the importance of becoming honest. Such children will not become corrupt when they grow up. Likewise, parents who treat their servants or drivers with kindness and compassion are knowingly or unknowingly developing empathy in their children.

Parents are also the ones who encourage children to study hard and achieve their goals. Unlike teachers, parents have a vested interest in their children’s lives. They want their children to do well in life and bring honour to the family. Because of this reason, they never give up on their children. By contrast, in most cases, the contribution of the teachers at school or college is limited to helping their students learn their subjects.

To conclude, learning is not limited to mastering the concepts of science or mathematics. True learning happens outside the classroom and here parents are the ones who impart all important life lessons. Hence, the argument that parents are the best teachers for their children makes perfect sense.

Essay#34 | Parents are the best teachers

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task..

Write about the following topic:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Parents are the best teachers.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

Model answer.

Parents shape their children from the beginning of their children’s lives. They teach their children values. They share their interests with them. They develop close emotional ties with them. Parents can be very important teachers in their children’s lives; however, they are not always the best teachers.

Parents may be too close to their children emotionally. For example, they may limit a child’s freedom in the name of safety. A teacher may organize an educational trip to a big city, but a parent may think this trip is too dangerous. A school may want to take the children camping, but a parent may be afraid of the child getting hurt.

Another problem is that parents sometimes expect their children’s interests to be similar to their own. If the parents love science, they may try to force their child to love science too. But what if the child prefers art? If the parents enjoy sports, they may expect their child to participate in different teams. But what if the child prefers to read?

Parents want to pass on their values to their children. However, things change. The children of today are growing up in a world different from their parents’ world. Sometimes parents, especially older ones, can’t keep up with rapid social or technological changes. A student who has friends of different races at school may find that his parents have narrower views. A student who loves computers may find that her parents don’t understand or value the digital revolution.

Parents are important teachers in our lives, but they aren’t always the best teachers. Fortunately, we have many teachers in our lives. Our parents teach us, our teachers teach us, and we learn from our peers. Books and newspapers also teach us. All of them are valuable.

250 Words Essay on Parents Are The Best Teachers

The primacy of parents as educators.

Parents, the first figures children encounter in life, play a pivotal role in molding their character and perspective. Their influence is not confined to basic life skills but extends to instilling values, fostering intellectual curiosity, and shaping behavior.

Instilling Values and Morals

Parents are the primary source of a child’s understanding of morals and values. They set the foundation for ethical behavior, empathy, kindness, and respect for diversity. These lessons, learned at a tender age, become the guiding principles that help navigate complex social landscapes in adulthood.

Fostering Intellectual Curiosity

Parents also stimulate intellectual curiosity in children. They introduce them to the world of knowledge, answering their endless questions about the world. This early exposure to inquiry-based learning fuels an enduring thirst for knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Shaping Behavior and Personality

The behavioral traits and personality of a child are significantly influenced by their parents. Children often mirror their parents’ habits, attitudes, and reactions to situations, which, over time, become ingrained as part of their personality.

Conclusion: The Everlasting Impact

While formal education and teachers undoubtedly contribute to a child’s development, the role of parents as teachers is unparalleled. They lay the groundwork for the child’s future, shaping their personality, morals, and intellectual curiosity. Their teachings leave an indelible mark, significantly influencing the child’s life trajectory. Thus, parents truly are the best teachers.

500 Words Essay on Parents Are The Best Teachers

Parents, often overlooked, are indeed the first and most influential teachers a child encounters. The role they play in shaping their children’s personality, behavior, and outlook on life is paramount. They lay the groundwork for children’s future relationships, values, and norms, making them the best teachers.

Parents as Role Models

Parents, by virtue of their everyday actions, serve as role models for their children. Children observe and imitate their parents, learning essential life skills such as empathy, kindness, and resilience. The way parents handle challenges, express emotions, and interact with others significantly influences a child’s social and emotional development. These early lessons, learned at home, form the basis of a child’s understanding of the world and their place in it.

Parents are the primary source of moral and ethical education for their children. They instill values such as honesty, respect, and responsibility, shaping their children’s character. Parents’ consistent reinforcement of these values helps children internalize them, guiding their behavior throughout life. Parents’ actions often speak louder than their words, and children learn to differentiate between right and wrong by observing their parents’ actions.

The Power of Unconditional Love

Parents are unique teachers because their love for their children is unconditional. This unwavering support provides a safe environment for children to make mistakes and learn from them. Parents’ love and patience allow children to grow and learn at their own pace, fostering self-confidence and independence. The emotional security provided by parents cannot be replicated in a traditional educational setting.

Parents as Life Coaches

Parents also serve as life coaches, guiding their children through various stages of life. They provide advice and guidance on a wide range of issues, from academic challenges and career choices to personal relationships and emotional well-being. Parents’ life experiences and wisdom make them invaluable resources for their children, helping them navigate life’s complexities.

In conclusion, parents are the best teachers because they shape their children’s character, instill values, provide emotional support, and guide them through life. Their role as teachers is continuous and multifaceted, extending beyond academic education. While formal education is crucial, the lessons learned at home from parents often have a more profound and lasting impact on a child’s life. Therefore, the importance of parents as teachers cannot be overstated.

Essay 366 – Parents are the best teachers

Gt writing task 2 / essay sample # 366.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Parents are the best teachers.

You should give reasons for your answer using your own ideas and experience.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer 1: [Agreement]

It is often pointed out by many that parents are the best teachers one can have. I agree with this opinion because while it is true that teachers, friends, and personal experiences can provide some valuable lessons, parents hold a unique position in shaping an individual’s character and guiding them throughout their lives.

To begin with, parents have a unique position in shaping an individual’s life. Firstly, parents are the first teachers that a child ever has. They play a critical role in instilling values, beliefs, and moral principles in their children. For instance, parents can teach children the value of honesty, hard work, and perseverance, which can serve them well throughout their lives. Since most children mimic their parents and learn from their behaviours, parents have the most significant role in shaping a child’s character and values.

Secondly, parents have an intimate knowledge of their children’s strengths and weaknesses, aspirations, and desires. This knowledge enables them to tailor their guidance to meet the unique needs of their children. For example, when I was struggling with anxiety during my school years, my parents were able to provide me with the emotional support and guidance that I needed to overcome my fears and achieve my goals. I took professional counselling and talked to many friends about this issue. Ultimately, my parents were my best source of hope and help.

In conclusion, the unique position that parents hold in shaping their children’s character, guiding them through their lives, and providing emotional support and guidance makes them invaluable mentors and the best teachers that no other source can match.

Model Answer 2: [Disagreement]

Many argue that parents are the best teachers for their children. While parents play an important role in shaping the lives of their children, I disagree with the statement that parents are the best teachers. In this essay, I will explain why I believe that parents are not always the best educators and that other sources such as teachers, books, good friends, and personal experience can sometimes provide better guidance.

To begin with, parents might not always have the necessary knowledge and expertise to provide the best guidance to their children. For instance, parents may not be able to teach their children technical or specialized skills that are required for certain professions. In such cases, a professional mentor or teacher might be better suited to provide the necessary training and knowledge. Moreover, parents may have biases and prejudices that might influence their guidance, which can hinder the development of their children. For instance, study after study has shown that most parents do not believe that their dear children can get involved in delinquency and immoral acts, and thus ignore early signs of such deeds.

Furthermore, parents might not always be the best teachers because of the emotional bond they share with their children. Parents might find it difficult to provide unbiased advice and criticism to their children, which can hinder their children’s growth and development. For instance, parents may be reluctant to criticize their children for fear of hurting their feelings, which can prevent their children from learning from their mistakes and improving themselves.

Finally, personal experiences, learning from books, and interactions with friends and peers can also provide valuable lessons and insights that parents may not be able to provide. Personal experiences can be valuable because they provide individuals with a hands-on experience of the real world, allowing them to learn from their mistakes and gain practical knowledge. Likewise, books open up new windows of knowledge for us. Friends and peers can also offer a different perspective and challenge our beliefs, which can broaden our horizons and promote personal growth.

In conclusion, while parents are undoubtedly important figures in our lives, I believe that they are not always the best teachers. Teachers, mentors, books, personal experiences, and friends can also provide valuable guidance and insights that are essential for personal growth and development.

In the words of Matthew L. Jacobson, “Behind every child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.” This statement throws light on a popular belief that parents are the best teachers a child can have. Out of twenty-four hours in a day, a child stays in close touch with the parents longer than his/her teacher or peers. In my opinion, the notion in the essay holds true.

When a child is born, his/her first nurturing contact is from the mother. As one grows up, parents and very close relationships like siblings and grandparents are the ones who take part in their all-round development. It is the parents who teach them their first words, how to sit, walk, basic etiquette and, in this way, they lay the foundation to education. Parents prepare their wards to face the “real world” as they cross the threshold from an infant to a young boy with patience and love that no one in the whole world can offer.

Adolescence is a very difficult time in the life of an individual. Most people tend to get deflected from their course of action as they are confused and easily influenced. During this time, parents play a very substantial role in their lives. They not only mentor their child but also act as role models for them. It is their responsibility to assist the youngster if they go astray and bring them back on the right track without punishing and demotivating them. Apart from this, a child imitates their parents from a very young age. This makes them the true reflection of their parents and their characters are shaped by the personality and behaviour of their parents. For example, if the parents are sober , educated people, the child will mostly become steady and informed. On the other hand, children of criminals bear the burden of their parents as society considers them corrupt even if they are well-behaved. As a result, they tend to become disillusioned and cynical .

However, when it comes to specialized education, teachers are more imperative than parents. Although parents can guide them, they need their teacher to explain concepts. Moreover, some parents tend to become biased towards their children and provide them unnecessary advantages. Fortunately, this number is few.

In the end, although teachers play an essential role in the life of a child, parents are the first and best teachers for their child as they are present by their side and observe as an individual evolves from an infant to a mature adult.

Parents are the best teachers

9IELTS

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Parents are the best teachers.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. You should give reasons for your answer using your own ideas and experience.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer 1: (Agreement: Parents are the best teachers)

‘Whether parents are our best teachers or not’ is a never-ending debate and people are divided both in favour and against this argument. Both have a very strong contribution and influence on a child’s learning but in my opinion, parents overtake the teachers in terms of teaching their children.

First of all, I would like to point out that a teacher is not merely a person who takes a text book and read texts from there to a student. Rather a teacher is someone who devotes his/her times to teach someone everything that someone needs to know to advance to next step. Morality, intricacies of life, subject matter knowledge, art, science, history, value of time etc. are something that can’t be taught through academic books and a good teacher is someone who teaches someone these all.

Now that we know the true responsibility of a teacher, we can easily compare our parents and teachers. The things that we learn from our parents are far more important than what we learn from our teachers. I am not denying the invaluable knowledge we learn from our teachers through our academic years, but what we learn from our parents are incomparable. We learn to survive, talk, and distinguish well from bad, values of life, morality and such important other things from our parents. We are the true reflection of our parents and our characters are shaped by their personality and behaviours. Later the teachers help us to enhance our knowledge, horizon and our view of life but the very foundation and ground are made by our parents.

The parents sacrifice so many things of their life just to ensure a better life for us and nothing in this whole world could even be compared with their sacrifice for us. Think of a student who is unable to pay his/her monthly school fees would be cast away from the school and the beloved teachers would scarcely be there to help him/her. On the other hand, the parents would always be there with their every possible effort to help the child.

In summary, the things we learn from our teachers are important for our lives and with those valuable lessons and knowledge we prepare for the future but the things we learn from our parents shapes who we are, who we become and their contribution is much more important compared to the contribution of the traditional academic teachers and that’s why in my opinion parents are best teachers.

(This model answer has been prepared by the site developer. However, please note that this is just one example out of many possible answers.)

Model Answer 2: (Agreement: Parents are the best teachers)

Parents can be the best teacher for every child coming on this earth. I agree with this statement as no learning institution can be compared with the parents as they are role models for their children since they open their eyes in this world till they are fully grown up and matured.

To start with when the child is born he sees his parents as his guide, mentor & teacher who will teach him how to speak, eat, drink, live, wear, interact etc. No one will be with him when he is crying for anything it will be the parents who will be with him for every problem and his / her every need. Even during his education days he will observe and learn that the school although is the learning institution but the moral & ethical values learned from parents are far greater than any learning center and parents will be the one who wants the children to be the best in this world and they want their children not to repeat the mistakes that they have done in their lives which any learning institution won’t care for as they can’t give individual attention to every student.

On the other hand, we see that generally the children who are orphans or could not get the attention from their parents don’t have that foundation of ethical, moral and social values as compared to the ones who have been trained by their parents despite all of  them have gone to schools, colleges etc. The only difference between them is parents.

If the parents are not well educated they could still prove to be good teachers for their children but that will be of less fruitful from the highly educated parents as educated and learned parents will have more vision and more horizon as compared to the unlearned.

I would like to conclude with the statement that parents can be a turning point for his child if he tries to teach every step of living this life.

Idea Generation for this IELTS Essay:

Essay Type: Argumentative Essay (Agree/ Disagree)

Main question of this IELTS Essay:

A. Are parents the best teachers for their children?

Agreement: Parents are the best teachers.

  • Parents are more engaged in their children’s activities than any other person because they spend more time with them than even teachers in schools, so they can find more deeply their children’s personality weaknesses.
  • Sensationally, they feel closer to their children than any other people are. Bonding helps mothers to love their children more than any other else.
  • We learn to survive, talk, and distinguish well from bad, values of life, morality and such important other things from our parents.
  • To care about their children, parents take more responsibility. They feel more responsibility to protect their children from criminals.
  • Parents are more devoted than the teachers.
  • Parents would be with a child no matter what.
  • We learn almost every aspect of life in our childhood from our parents.
  • There is not any interruption in their teaching, and they continuously teach their children. This can lead them to become more trustful than teachers.
  • Parents understand the children better and thus play a greater role.
  • Parents are more capable of instructing the children and guide them well.
  • It could be far more economical. Instead of spending tremendous money on tuition, Family can save it.

Disagreement: Parents are NOT the best teachers.

  • In terms of the theoretical and academic knowledge, parents are usually less professional than the instructors teaching in schools.
  • Parents are less familiar with the latest training techniques which other tutors use.
  • A huge generation gap between them, parents and children, may affect the parents’ performance to become perfect teachers.
  • A conflict between parents and children in schooling may negatively affect their emotional relationship.
  • Morality, intricacies of life, subject matter knowledge, art, science, history, value of time etc. are often taught by the teachers.
  • Parents are sometimes too blind to notice the bad side of their children. In this case, teachers make neutral judgments.
  • Experiences learned from life have a far greater role in life than the things we learn from our parents.

[The above points should be helpful to aid you generating your own ideas and then turning them into a nicely written IELTS Essay. Add any point you think we have missed in the comment section.]

Model Answer 3: (Disagreement: Parents are NOT the best teachers)

Parents teach a lot to the children and the ground made by them shapes the future of the children. On the other hand, someone learns throughout his life and thus become the person he really is. In this learning process, he himself contributes the most and teachers, friends, nature, books, academic education are important as well. Though parents are very good teachers, in my opinion, they are not the best teacher for someone and the person himself is the best teacher for him.

After we learn to talk, walk and basic morality and intricacies of our life, we start going to school and there we learn new things every day. The book, the teachers, the friends and the environment shapes what we become. Parents teach their kid to a bright, good fellow and yet there are lots of immoral and corrupted people who actually were transformed badly by themselves. So someone himself is the best teacher for him. Besides this the things we learn from our life experiences, teachers and books become far more important that what we learned in our infant time.

Parents do their fine duty to raise a child to become a good adult and later he gets the education and experiences from his life and school play the vital role for his future. In terms of being our teachers, our experience and nature play an utmost important role. We learn so many things from our surroundings and nature is a silent teacher who widely opens the mystery and significance of our life.

The things we learn from our parents are of course important to our life but they are rather some righteous lessons and good advises. Later in our life, we face the real situations and learn the true lessons from our experience and in terms of learning this is the most important part.

So considering all of the above, I would like to opine that, parents are very important teachers for us but never the best teachers.

Model Answer 4: (Disagreement: by   Marlar Tinaye ) Our parents are the first teachers. They teach us how to talk and many other things which are vital for leading our lives. There are many different parents who instruct the children and handle their lives. Some parents want their child to conquer more than the efforts. They try to be the best teachers for the children. They pay more attention and thus there are some conflicts between children and parents. So the child looks for the avenue to escape. It makes the child walk on the wrong road. Teachers at a school have the chance to guide many children. So, they can compare different situations and potential of children more than parents can do. So, they are more capable of instructing and guiding them properly.

In our town, we can see many negligent parents. They leave their children in another house and sometimes the children play on the road and hurt themselves and become the victims of accidents. Some concerned people have to return the child to his home back. Parents are not teaching and showing the preventive measures and dangerous situations to the children. But some parents can become better teachers for the child and thus prevented tragic consequences.

Some parents will deliberately instruct the child in some dangerous attitude or philosophy and they let the child adhere to evil things. So the children enjoy more in risky conditions and grow up to be a very perilous person.

One, therefore, should not presume that parents are always the best teacher. Sometimes they are the worst teachers a child might have.

Model Answer 5: (Agreement: Parents are the best teachers)

The responsibility of child development is often a subject that is discussed and debated. While some would argue that since a child spends maximum time at school, the teachers should take responsibility for ensuring proper development of children. However, I strongly believe that it is parents who are the best teachers and they play a very important role in the manner a child is groomed.   To begin, parents are the ones who could better control the disciplinary aspects of the child. The manner in which a child manages his time, right through the day is better judged and analysed by parents. This provides them with an opportunity to ensure that the child has the right balance of all activities, be it studies, outdoor activities, indoor activities and reading.   Research has indicated that children do get addicted to one kind of activity, which is not good for the overall development of a child. For example, there are several instances where children spend more time say on computer games. This can result in the child losing out on social skills. Further, such a child might eventually turn out to be a loner, with very limited ability to interact, socialise and communicate with people.   Additionally, for a good healthy living and a steady mind, children need to have a healthy and balanced diet. Parents do have better control over this aspect and can ensure that a child gets a balanced diet with the right nutrients. Research has shown proper upbringing of children by parents can lead to lower crime rates, lower health problems like obesity and higher literacy rate.   To conclude, there might be some people who argue that schools are the places where teaching happens, but this is not always the case. Nevertheless, the role of parents is even more critical in ensuring that children imbibe the right values, morals and ethics. This will go a long way in benefiting not just the individual but also the society. [by   Rajes]

Model Answer 6: (Agreement: Parents are the best teachers)

Nowadays, we are living in modern life and much more facilities in different fields which make the life easier for the people, on the other hand, the life is full of challenges and situations facing us, especially dealing with the society, different people, different cultures and ages.

Apparently, when we have started life trip we came with zero experience and the lucky one of us who came to the life with guides people who arrived before him and people dedicate their times, power and feelings to help, those are good parents.

Parents are teachers, they always teaching us in many ways intentionally and unintentionally, however, vocal guidelines and acting in daily bases activities are the ways of the life experience knowledge transfer regardless different culture, language, facilities or economy level of the family. But in my opinion, in modern life, the education level of the parents is a major factor and considered in the quality of the knowledge and experience transfer to the children.

There are many teachers around the world which can teach you lot of life experience but parents always special and the flavour of the knowledge you gain is unique and neat because it always comes with the feelings which are impossible to get from other teachers. Regardless the knowledge is good or bad, right or wrong parents are best teachers. Finally, you will discover and decide about our life when we reach the rational age. And when we become parents for the newcomers, we would make the best decision for them.

[ byBader Dokhan]

Model Answer 7: (Agreement: Parents are the best teachers)

No one on this earth could deny the fact that parents are the messengers of god. I firmly believe that I am really blessed to have such supporting parents. They are the treasure hunt of knowledge. I personally consider them as the best teachers.

Right from childhood, they teach us in each and every phase of life. When we are kids, they train us in all kinds of activities crawling, walking and talking. During the schooling, they educate us on the difficult subjects. When we grow up a bit, they assist us in choosing the right path. They support our career aspirations. They teach us what is good and what is bad.

In addition to the above, parents enlighten us by teaching moral values. They explain us their past experiences in life from which we can extract some of the do’s and don’ts. We learnt a lot from them on the culture and traditions of our region. They advise us in many tough situations.

In my opinion, a teacher is not someone who merely teaches us how to read, write and to gain an academic degree. Rather this person teaches us the morality, value of life and inspires us to live a positive life. In this regards, parents put more emphasis and effort that a teacher we find in our school. In our life, we learn about life from our parents more than from anyone else.

On the other hand, some of the students deny this fact as they may not consider the abilities of their children and force them to take subjects of their choice. They feel that parents should take into account their opinions and discuss with them the pros and cons of their choice.

To conclude, I strongly affirm that no teacher in this world can be as best as our parents. We should respect their opinions and abide by their valuable suggestions.

[by Sreelekha]

Model Answer 8: (Disagreement: Parents are NOT the best teachers)

Teaching is believed to be the toughest profession in the world. Not because they are in a physically challenging job or a hostile work environment but because they have a responsibility to shape the behaviour and the thought-process of children. Children have extremely fragile mindsets and tend to emulate the behaviour of people surrounding them. Given the situation, they are extremely prone to behave as their parents whom they observe on a daily basis. Hence, in a way, parents are also teachers on a full-time job.

However, I do not agree with the statement that parents are the best teachers. Different children have different cognitive abilities and hence different learning styles. Research also proves that in order to maximise the learning experience of any individual, it is important to facilitate the learning process as per the learning style. Teachers are professionally qualified and experienced to do this job better. They have both the skills and knowledge to excel in this as compared to parents.

Parents, on the other hand, are not trained to understand the learning style of their children. They usually use positive reinforcement in way of rewards and negative reinforcements in the manner of punishments to teach their children. In this way, they may unknowingly end up hampering the development of their children by enforcing a particular way of learning.

I believe if parents could be coached on different ways in which their children could be taught, they would be the best teachers.

Parents are the best teachers. Do you agree or disagree?

Sample answer:.

Parents play a crucial role in the development of their children, and it is often argued that they are the best teachers. While I agree that parents have a significant influence on their children’s lives, I believe that they may not always be the best teachers in every aspect.

Firstly, parents are undoubtedly the first teachers in a child’s life. They teach basic skills such as walking, talking, and social interaction. Moreover, they instill values and beliefs that shape a child’s personality and behavior. However, when it comes to academic education, parents may not always have the expertise or knowledge to provide the best guidance. In today’s complex and rapidly changing world, children need to acquire a wide range of skills and knowledge that may go beyond their parents’ expertise.

Furthermore, parents may also have biases and limitations that could hinder their ability to be effective teachers. They may impose their own beliefs and opinions on their children, which can limit their exposure to diverse perspectives. Additionally, some parents may lack the patience and understanding required to teach certain subjects or skills, leading to frustration and conflicts in the learning process.

On the other hand, professional teachers are trained to deliver comprehensive and unbiased education to students. They have the expertise to teach various subjects and the skills to cater to different learning styles. Moreover, teachers provide a structured learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and social interaction, which may not always be present in a home setting.

In conclusion, while parents undoubtedly have a significant influence on their children’s lives and play an essential role as their first teachers, I believe that they may not always be the best teachers in every aspect. Professional educators have the expertise and skills to provide a well-rounded education that goes beyond the scope of parental guidance.

Band 7+: Parents are the best teachers do you agree or disagree

* A large segment of the population believes that children are taught better by their parents. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement and maintain that parents are instrumental in the child’s success.

Parents give birth to their children. Firstly, they know their kids better than anyone. In addition, offspring have similar habits like their father and mother. Furthermore, they can train them to become a better individual. For example, Thomas Alva Edison once came home with a note stating that he was not fit to sit in the classroom. It was his mother who taught him. As a result, he went on to become one of the eminent scientists of the world. Hence, parents are considered to be the best teachers.

Homeschooling is becoming the most popular practice these days. In this procedure, kids are schooled at home by their parents. It is believed that it aids children in holistic development as they have individual attention and care. In addition, our schooling system is not robust and appropriate for every kid. For example, a disabled child finds it a daunting task to mingle with other kids in school. Moreover, the special schools designed for these types of individuals lack facilities and academic pedagogy required for them. Consequently, it is parents who take the responsibility of education in this type of circumstances. Therefore, kids are taught in the best way by their parents.

In conclusion, it is clearly evident that parents are believed to be the best teachers. The fact that they understand their child and their needs in a better way, take care of them in every manner to impart knowledge in them are the paramount reasons behind the idea. Thus, without a doubt, I agree with the aforementioned statement.

SAMPLE ESSAY

I have heard it said that there are no better teachers than parents. This is very true. In fact, parents definitely make the best teachers.

The primary reason I feel this way is that parents spend more time with their children than anyone else. This gives parents more opportunities to instruct their children. From birth until kindergarten, at least one parent is with the child virtually twenty-four hours a day. This let parents become familiar with their children and be aware of their children’s learning habits, making them excellent teachers. When I was young and had trouble doing my homework, my parents always assisted me. If I did not understand something, they knew exactly how to explain it to me. I remember often thinking, “Why didn’t my teacher explain it this way?” My parents were definitely aware of how I learn things. This made them excellent teachers for me.

A second reason is that parents can tremendously influence their children. Children traditionally look up to their parents and imitate them. In fact, children often come to think like their own parents. Studies show that children frequently share the same religion and political thoughts as their parents. So parents should be able to set good examples for their children. For example, they can use decent language, show sympathy and generosity toward others, and read a lot. These good examples encourage their children to act the same way. They are teaching by example. This is exactly what my parents did. When I was young, I learned much by watching their actions and copying them.

For these reasons, I am sure that parents make the best teachers. They spend the most time with their children, so they know how to teach them. And they can most easily influence their children. Even though I am still fairly young, my parents have taught me more than anyone else I know.

You should spend about  40  minutes on this task.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

Parents are the best teachers.

You should give reasons for your answer using your own ideas and experience.

Write at least  250  words.

It is often pointed out by many that parents are the best teachers one can have. I agree with this opinion because while it is true that teachers, friends, and personal experiences can provide valuable lessons, parents hold a unique position in shaping an individual’s character and guiding them throughout their lives.

are parents best teachers essay

  • Why to start with a topic sentence? April 8, 2024

There is denying that educators, friends, and personal experiences can provide important lessons in our lives. Teachers have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and they are trained to impart this knowledge in a structured and organised manner. Friends, on the other hand, can provide valuable insights and perspectives that one might not be able to gain from other sources. Similarly, personal experiences can also teach us a great deal about ourselves and the world around us.

However, parents have a unique position in shaping an individual’s life. Firstly, parents are the first teachers that a child ever has. They play a critical role in instilling values, beliefs, and moral principles in their children. For instance, parents can teach children the value of honesty, hard work, and perseverance, which can serve them well throughout their lives.

In conclusion, The unique position that parents hold in shaping their children’s character, guiding them through their lives, and providing emotional support and guidance makes them invaluable mentors and the best teachers that no other source can match.

While parents play an important role in shaping the lives of their children, I disagree with the statement that parents are the best teachers. In this essay, I will explain why I believe that parents are not always the best teachers and that other sources such as teachers, books, good friends, and personal experience can sometimes provide better guidance.

And friends and peers can offer a different perspective and challenge our beliefs, which can broaden our horizons and promote personal growth.

In conclusion, while parents are undoubtedly important figures in our lives, I believe that they are not always the best teachers. Teachers, mentors, books, personal experiences, and friends can also provide valuable guidance and insights that are essential for personal growth and development.

Model essay #1:, parents are the best teachers. do you agree or disagree with this statement.

Parents are undoubtedly the most influential people in a child's life. Some argue that parents are the best teachers, while others disagree. In my opinion, parents are indeed the best teachers due to the following reasons.

Firstly, parents are the first teachers a child encounters. From learning crucial life skills such as walking and talking to imbibing values and morals, parents play a pivotal role in shaping a child's development. For example, children often mimic their parents' behavior and adopt their habits, which highlights the significant impact parents have on their children's learning.

Secondly, parents possess a deep understanding of their child's strengths and weaknesses. They can tailor their teaching methods to suit their child's individual learning style, offering personalized guidance and support. For instance, a parent may identify a child's aptitude for music and nurture this talent by providing music lessons, thereby serving as an effective teacher.

Furthermore, parents are constant figures in a child's life, providing ongoing guidance and support. Unlike school teachers who have limited interaction with students, parents have the opportunity to impart valuable life lessons and knowledge throughout a child's formative years.

In conclusion, considering the lifelong impact parents have on their children's development, it is evident that they are the best teachers. With their early influence, personalized approach, and ongoing support, parents play a vital role in shaping their children's learning and character. Therefore, I firmly believe that parents are indeed the best teachers.

Model Essay #2:

While parents undoubtedly have a significant influence on their children, I disagree with the notion that they are the best teachers. There are several reasons why I hold this perspective.

Firstly, parents may not always possess the expertise or knowledge required to effectively educate their children in all subject areas. For instance, a parent may not be well-versed in advanced mathematics or science, which are crucial subjects in a child's education. In such cases, professional teachers with specialized training would be better equipped to impart knowledge in these areas.

Secondly, children benefit from exposure to diverse teaching styles and perspectives, which may not be fully provided by parents alone. School teachers, for example, bring varied experiences and teaching methods to the table, enriching a child's learning experience and broadening their horizons.

Furthermore, the dynamic between a parent and child may hinder effective learning. Children may resist parental instruction or feel pressured to conform to their parents' expectations, inhibiting open and effective learning.

In conclusion, while parents undoubtedly play a vital role in a child's upbringing, I believe that they are not always the best teachers. Professional educators bring specialized knowledge, diverse perspectives, and a conducive learning environment that can greatly benefit a child's overall education. Therefore, I disagree with the notion that parents are the best teachers.

Parents are More Important Than Teachers in a Child’s Education

There are a lot of important people in a child’s life, but none more so than their parents. Parents are the first and most important educators in a child’s life. They are the ones that lay the foundation for their education. Teachers may come and go, but parents are always there. That’s why parents are more important than teachers in a child’s education.

There’s no denying that teachers play an important role in a child’s education. They are the ones who provide the instruction and guidance that helps children learn and grow. However, there is one person who is even more important than teachers when it comes to a child’s education – their parent. Parents are the first educators of their children. From the moment they are born, parents start teaching their children about the world around them. They instill values and beliefs in their children that will stay with them for life. They also provide support and encouragement, which is essential for helping children thrive academically. While teachers play a vital role in a child’s education, it is ultimately the responsibility of parents to ensure that their children receive a quality education. This means being involved in their child’s schooling, supporting them at home, and making sure they have access to resources like books, tutors, and extracurricular activities. By taking an active role in their child’s education, parents can ensure that their child gets the best possible education – one that will set them up for success in school and in life.

There is no denying that parents are the first and most important teachers in a child’s life. From the moment a baby is born, they begin to learn from their parents – whether it’s about language, manners, or even just how to love and be loved. And as children grow older and enter formal education, the role of parents in their education only becomes more crucial. While teachers play a vital role in a child’s academic development, it is ultimately up to parents to ensure that their child receives the best possible education. This means being involved in every step of the process, from choosing the right school and teacher, to helping with homework and providing moral support. Of course, this isn’t always easy – especially for working parents who already have limited time with their kids. But even small gestures like asking about your child’s day or reading together can make a big difference in their educational journey. So if you want your child to succeed in school (and in life), remember that you are their most important teacher. Investing time and energy into their education now will pay off tenfold down the road.

Why Parents are the Best Teachers

There are a few reasons why parents are the best teachers. First, they have known their children since they were born so they understand them better than anyone else. Second, parents want their children to succeed and will do everything they can to help them reach their potential. Third, parents are more patient than teachers and can provide individualized attention. Finally, parents love their children unconditionally and want what is best for them always.

Parents Vs Teachers

It’s no secret that parents and teachers often butt heads. After all, they are both trying to do what’s best for the child. However, there are some key ways that parents can work together with teachers to ensure that the child has a successful school experience. First and foremost, it’s important to remember that teachers are professionals. They have been trained in how to educate children and have a wealth of experience. Parents should respect this expertise and trust that the teacher knows what they’re doing. Of course, this doesn’t mean that parents should be passive when it comes to their child’s education. It’s still important to be involved and ask questions if you’re unsure about something. But ultimately, you need to give the teacher the space to do their job. Another way to create a strong relationship with your child’s teacher is by communicating regularly. This means more than just emailing back-and-forth when there’s an issue; try to touch base on a regular basis, even if everything is going well. This will help build trust and understanding between you both. Finally, it’s essential to remember that you’re on the same team when it comes to your child’s education. At the end of the day, you both want what’s best for them – so try not to let small disagreements get in the way of that goal!

Who is More Responsible for the Academic Success of a Child the Parents Or the Teachers

There is no easy answer to the question of who is more responsible for the academic success of a child – parents or teachers. Both play an important role in supporting and nurturing children’s development and learning. As parents, we are our children’s first and most important teachers. We provide them with a loving home environment where they feel safe to explore and learn. We teach them basic life skills such as how to eat, dress themselves, and communicate with others. And we instill in them values that will guide their behavior both inside and outside of the classroom. However, once our children start school, their teachers become a crucial part of their academic journey. Teachers provide structure and guidance in the classroom, helping children learn how to read, write, and do math. They also introduce kids to new concepts and ideas that they may not be exposed to at home. In short, teachers play a vital role in helping our kids reach their full potential academically. So who is more responsible for the academic success of a child? The answer is both parents and teachers! By working together, we can give all kids the support they need to succeed in school – and in life.

Debate About Parents

The debate about parents usually starts with the question: should parents be friends with their kids? The answer to that question is not as simple as a yes or no. Some people believe that being friends with your children is the best way to parent them because it allows for an open and honest relationship. Others believe that being friends with your children can lead to favoritism and creates an unhealthy boundary between parent and child. So, what’s the right answer? Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. It really depends on the individual child and parent relationship. Some children thrive when their parents are their friends, while others do better with a more traditional parenting style. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual family to decide what works best for them.

It is Better to Be a Student Than a Teacher Debate

The age-old debate of whether it is better to be a student or a teacher has been around for quite some time. Both sides have valid points, but there are some clear advantages to being a student. Here are some of the reasons why it is better to be a student than a teacher: 1. Students get summers off while teachers have to work. This is probably the most popular reason why students believe they have the upper hand in this debate. Who doesn’t love having three months off during the summer? Teachers have to work all year round, including those hot summer days when all you want to do is lounge by the pool. 2. Students don’t have nearly as much responsibility as teachers do. Teachers are responsible for shaping young minds, planning lessons, grading papers, and so much more. It can be a lot of pressure! Students on the other hand only have to worry about passing their classes and maybe participating in extracurricular activities. 3. Teachers often have to deal with unruly children while students get to learn in peace. Let’s face it, not all kids are angels (no matter how much their parents might think so). Teachers deal with disruptive students on a daily basis while students get to sit back and listen (or sleep) in relative peace and quiet. 4. Students get longer vacations than teachers do. Yes, teachers do get breaks throughout the year, but they are usually shorter than what students enjoy ( winter break , spring break , etc.). Not only that, but students also get holidays off while teachers typically still have to report to work . So if you’re looking for more time off, being a student is the way to go!

Parents are the Best Teachers

There is no one answer to the question of whether parents are the best teachers. It depends on each individual family and what works best for them. However, there are some general points that can be made about this topic. For many children, their parents are their first and most important teachers. They learn basic skills and values from their parents, which lays the foundation for future learning. Even as they grow older and enter school, parents remain a key influence in their lives and can help them succeed in academics and beyond. Of course, not all parents are equally good at teaching or have the same amount of time to dedicate to it. Some families also have other adults who play an important role in raising and educating children, such as grandparents, aunts and uncles, or teachers at school. Ultimately, what’s most important is that children have access to caring adults who can support their learning and development.

Parents are the Best Teachers Quotes

It is often said that parents are the best teachers. This may be true in some cases, but not all. Some parents may be better equipped to teach their children certain things than others. And, in some cases, children may be better off learning from someone other than their parents. Here are some quotes about parents being the best teachers: “A child learns more quickly when he or she is exposed to multiple sources of information and experiences.” – Dr. James Dobson “Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” – Anne Frank “There is no school equal to a decent home and no teacher equal to a virtuous parent.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Parents are More Important Than Teachers in a Child'S Education

Credit: www.verywellfamily.com

Who is More Important to the Education of a Child the Parents Or Teachers?

It is a common misconception that teachers are more important to the education of a child than parents. This could not be further from the truth! Parents are actually the most important educators in a child’s life. Think about it – parents are with their children from the moment they are born, while teachers only see them for a few hours each day. It is during those crucial early years that parents have the biggest impact on their child’s development and future success in school and in life. Of course, teachers play an important role in a child’s education as well. They provide expertise and knowledge that parents may not have. But at the end of the day, it is still the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their children are getting what they need to succeed. That means being involved in their schooling, communicating with their teachers, and making sure they are doing their homework. So don’t believe the myth that teachers are more important than parents when it comes to educating children. The truth is, both groups play an essential role – but parents will always be number one!

Why are Parents Important in a Child’s Education?

There are many reasons why parents are important in a child’s education. They are the child’s first teachers and role models, and they can help instill a love of learning in their child. Parents can also provide support and encouragement, both emotionally and practically, that can make a big difference in a child’s schooling. Additionally, parents can help hold schools accountable for providing a quality education to all students. One of the most important things that parents can do for their children is to be involved in their education. Studies have shown that children whose parents are involved in their schooling tend to do better academically than those whose parents are not as involved. There are many ways to be involved in your child’s education, such as attending school events, volunteering at the school, helping with homework or simply talking to your child about their day. It is also important to keep lines of communication open between you and your child’s teacher(s), so that you can work together to ensure that your child is getting the best possible education. Parents play an important role in shaping their children’s attitudes towards education. If parents value learning and place importance on getting good grades, chances are their children will too. Similarly, if parents regularly praise their children for doing well at school or taking an interest in learning something new, this positive reinforcement will encourage them to continue striving for success. On the other hand, if parents constantly criticise their children or tell them they’re not good enough, this negative attitude will likely rub off on them and hinder their progress at school. Finally, it is worth remembering that every parent-child relationship is different – what works for one family might not work for another. The key is finding what works best for you and your child when it comes to parenting and education!

Are Parents More Influential Than Teachers?

There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on a multitude of factors. In some cases, parents may be more influential than teachers and in other instances, the opposite may be true. It really varies from situation to situation. Some of the things that could affect the outcome include the child’s personality, the relationship between the parent and child, the teacher’s style of teaching, etc. In general though, both parents and teachers play an important role in a child’s life and development. They both help to shape who they are and how they view the world around them. It is important for children to have positive relationships with both their parents and their teachers in order to thrive.

Why Parents are the Most Effective Teachers?

There are many reasons why parents are the most effective teachers. One reason is that they have a vested interest in their child’s success. They want their child to do well in school and life, so they will do everything they can to help them succeed. Another reason is that parents know their children better than anyone else. They know their strengths and weaknesses, so they can tailor their teaching to meet their needs. Finally, parents are usually more patient and understanding than other teachers. They realize that children learn at different rates and have different learning styles, so they are willing to adjust their methods to accommodate each individual child.

37: Co-Parents, Teachers, and Your Child’s Education

A recent study has shown that parents are more important than teachers in a child’s education. The study, conducted by the University of London, found that children whose parents are involved in their education are more likely to succeed than those whose parents are not involved. The study looked at a sample of 2,000 children and found that those whose parents were actively involved in their education (by attending parent-teacher meetings, helping with homework, etc.) had better grades and were more likely to go to college than those whose parents were not involved. So why are parents so important? The researchers believe that it is because parents provide a “home base” for learning. They create a positive attitude towards learning and provide support and encouragement. Teachers, on the other hand, can only do so much. They have a limited amount of time with each student and often have large class sizes. So if you want your child to succeed in school, make sure you are involved in their education!

Parents Are the Best Teachers. Use Specific Reasons and Examples to Support Your Answer

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. You should give reasons for your answer using your own ideas and experience.

It is an arguable question nowadays about whether parents are the best teachers or not. I totally agree with this statement.

In the first place, parents spend much time with their children more than anyone in the child’s life, even though they are schooling, but they spend a little time out of the whole day in school with their teachers, and all the rest is spent with their parents. This gives the parents much room to show their children the right way and how to live their lives on the right path. Also, children copy the lifestyle of their parents usually, and this is also a source of learning. For instance, parents who quarrel and usually fight before their children trains the child’s mind to not like relationships in the future due to what he/she has witnessed earlier.

Furthermore, one would say teachers are the best source of whatever the child learns, but it is obvious how the teachers are much concentrated on their courses rather than shaping the character of the child. And also, since there are many children at an instance for a single teacher at the moment, it is difficult for them to be focusing on a single child at a time. But parents do know their children very well, and even when something is going wrong with the child, it is the parent who will be able to identify it earlier so as to correct it for the child.

In summary, parents are the best teachers since they spend much of the child’s them with them together and also as their lifestyle is copied by their children at home.

30 Examples of Feedback for Teachers

reviewed by Rachelle Bencio Yu

Created on May 22, 2024

Updated on May 22, 2024

are parents best teachers essay

Effective feedback from parents can help create a positive and productive learning environment for teachers. However, parents find it hard to express their outlook on teaching methods.

In this article, we discuss 30 examples of parent feedback for teachers that will help parents to encourage positive change.

How to write good feedback for a teacher

  • Evaluate your feedback before you share it

Use the «Sandwich» method to express an opinion about a teacher

Be polite when sharing a parent’s feedback, give examples of how the teacher can refine the study process, thank the teacher for their hard work.

Writing simple feedback for teachers from parents requires clarity, intention, and respect. It’s also an opportunity to express gratitude and show support for a professional whose work makes a significant difference.

are parents best teachers essay

Remember, sincerity plays a big role here, as this is your time and place to help teachers move in the right direction. Here are some tips to help you formulate your opinion constructively:

Evaluate your feedback before you share it

Before you begin, decide what you want to say. Do you want to express gratitude, share your thoughts, or provide advice?

Start with what you like about the teacher’s teaching methods and gradually move to what is not working well. According to this research , people perform better in the next task if they receive «sandwich feedback», a structure that places the relevant corrective feedback between two positive statements.

No matter how informal or warm your communication with the teacher is, it’s important to maintain a professional and respectful tone throughout your feedback. If your feedback contains criticism, express it respectfully, and don’t give too much free rein to emotions. Negative or constructive feedback needs to be polite and collaborative.

As you know your child best, you may have ideas on how the situation could be improved; be sure to include them in your feedback.

Don’t underestimate the power of gratitude. A simple «please» and «thank you» go a long way, especially when you see their efforts and progress.

Parents remarks for teachers

Even though a parent-teacher feedback meeting can be tough, parents should always remember how to give feedback to teachers so the comments and remarks are not taken with hostility. Here are some examples of constructive comments parents can offer to teachers:

It’s important to approach the situation with a positive attitude and clarity. Parent-teacher meeting feedback comments should improve the learning process and not undervalue teachers. Consider formulating comments so that they are perceived as suggestions for improvement as your top priority.

Does feedback to teachers from parents matter?

First, feedback to teachers from parents can help to understand how well children perceive the learning process. Parents know best their strengths, difficulties, and goals, so sharing these aspects can provide much-needed clarity to teachers. Secondly, it promotes more effective and welcoming communication between teachers and home, which helps to build trusting and supportive relationships.

In some cases, the school’s policies may not support effective feedback loops, which can lead to important insights being overlooked. In that case, some parents may consider hiring a tutor if they’re unhappy with their child’s teacher’s educational methods. Tutors can provide more attention to a child’s needs and adjust their teaching methods to the individual learning style and pace of the student. This can be beneficial both for a child’s comfort and academic improvements.

At Brighterly, we teach your kids in a way that encourages conceptual understanding instead of following the traditional approach of memorization. That way, they will easily learn new logical skills and improve grades all without unnecessary stress.

Feedback for school from parents

Providing schools with parental feedback often seems like a stressful task. From the curriculum and extracurricular activities, the quality of teaching, and the cafeteria — how do you squeeze it all into one review?

are parents best teachers essay

How do you write good feedback for school?

It’s not an essay — add some structure, use examples that back up your feedback, be honest (but objective), respect goes both ways, so be nice, end by emphasizing what you think is great about the school.

Divide your review into several parts: academic program, teachers, learning environment, extracurricular activities, and overall impression.

Adding specific examples to support your opinions is a good idea. For example, instead of saying that teachers are professional, point out how they support students’ learning.

Share your honest thoughts, but try to be objective. Try to suggest constructive ways to improve things.

Even if your experience was negative, express your thoughts respectfully. Criticism must be correct and help improve the school’s work.

If possible, end your review on a positive note by mentioning something you really liked.

With this parent feedback form for teachers, you’ll be able to write thoughtful and helpful parent feedback for teachers that will help the school better understand expectations.

Examples of positive feedback for school from parents

Some examples: part 1, some examples of positive feedback for school from parents: part 2.

Remember : whether your goal is to boost the morale of school staff or contribute to a more collaborative educational environment, good feedback about school consists of structure, intent, honesty, and respect.

Short positive feedback for school from parents

Short positive feedback can be as effective as a normal length one. These brief comments are great to collect and analyze, and moreover, they are easier to compose. Very practical for providing simple feedback for teachers from parents!

Positive feedback for school from parents

…and why acknowledging the school’s efforts is important:

  • It helps other parents make decisions on whether the school is right for children
  • It keeps the school’s reputation afloat
  • It sets high standards and motivates school staff

It brings the community together

It helps other parents make decisions on whether the school is right for their children

Reviews can help parents make informed choices when searching for the right school. This is especially important for those who are moving to a new area.

It keeps the school’s reputation afloat

Positive feedback can improve public perception of the school and maintain its reputation. A good reputation attracts qualified teachers and can also help with funding.

It sets high standards and motivates school staff

Feedback can motivate teachers and school administrators to develop professionally and improve their skills. Knowing that their work is valued, school staff can strive for higher standards in their work.

Good reviews can help build a strong and mutually supportive community among parents and school staff. This also creates a warmer, more welcoming school environment.

Use the sandwich principle to form your feedback

Provide specific suggestions instead of dull comments, use «i» statements to tone down your opinions, offer your outlook on how the situation can be improved.

Start with a positive comment, then carefully move to an area for improvement, and end with another positive comment. This helps mitigate possible negative perceptions of criticism.

General remarks can leave room for misunderstandings. Make your criticism more constructive by pointing out specific examples of where the teacher could improve.

Express your thoughts and feelings through «I» to avoid blame. For example, «I noticed that…» instead of «You always…».

When pointing out problems, try to offer solutions or help. This shows that you are not only critical but also willing to help.

Effective feedback from parents plays a key role in the educational process. Honest and constructive feedback creates more productive and mutually respectful interactions between children, teachers, and parents. Parents should involve themselves in the school’s life, voicing their thoughts and opinions, ultimately helping teachers move in the right direction with their kids and creating a win-win situation for everybody.
