“Dyatmika is a joyous place with a wonderful community feel, fabulous students and great fellow professionals. I have been able to rediscover my love of teaching and at the same time, further develop my career goals. This school allows ones teaching to flourish while providing teachers with opportunities for pushing back the boundaries of education. The work-life balance is such that every weekend provides an opportunity to travel around this wonderful island or simply to relax on the local beaches, 10 minutes from my front door. Dyatmika and Bali is a winning combination!”

Kevin Johnson Social Sciences Teacher / Academic & Pastoral Leader

Moving to Bali to work at Dyatmika is definitely the best life choice I have ever made. No more Sunday evening dread; instead I actually look forward to going to work. My work life balance is better than I could ever have expected it to be as a teacher. It was originally my intention to stay here for two years and then try to move to South America; I have just signed my contract for my sixth year and I honestly don’t know when I will ever make it to South America, how could I give up the best job I have ever had in such a fantastic school?!”

Teaching Jobs in Bali

education jobs bali

We have experienced a growing demand for English Teachers in the past decade. Indonesia is one of the most beautiful and fascinating countries in the world, consisting of a spectacular archipelago studded with active volcanoes. There are many language centre franchises including English First in most of the congested cities of western Indonesia. National Plus schools pay more and offer good holidays although you generally need previous teaching experience in Indonesia. Geography: Leaving the city behind you are quickly surrounded by paddy fields and thick forested hills. The roads lead you through small villages and isolated temples perched on the slopes of the hills, the perfect place for a bicycle tour. In the highlands there are dozens of tumbling waterfalls where you can go for a swim, which lead into the rushing rivers where people go white water rafting. Or if you’re feeling adventurous you can spend your time jumping off waterfalls and abseiling on a day of canyoning.

Faculty salaries & benefits

At BIS, we provide a tax-free compensation package that is competitive for international schools. We have a standard pay scale and enhanced pay scale for those that qualify, which is consistent for local and overseas hired staff. Colleagues are placed on a scale according to years of experience and qualifications.

Initial overseas hired teaching contracts are for two years and then renewable on an annual basis.

The cost of living in Bali is relatively low.

We also provide for overseas hired faculty:

  • An annual housing allowance *
  • Annual flights allowance for self and dependent
  • Settling-in allowance
  • Tuition benefits for child(ren)**
  • Health Insurance for self and dependent
  • Exit allowance

*Overseas hires make their own selection of accommodation around the school or other areas. The school provides assistance in the search for accommodation.

** The tuition allowance is stipulated in the contract of employment based on dependent choice. Initial 2 year contracts offer 1 free child tuition if the child is chosen as the dependent, followed by increasing discounts for the second child for contract extensions beyond 2 years.

Candidates Beware of Recruiting Scams

Bali Island School will never ask or require teacher candidates to send money for application fees, interview fees, visas, plane tickets or other costs associated with recruitment or moving to Indonesia. We will not ask potential teachers for information related to bank accounts or other private information. Specific information would be collected only after a formal contract has been signed and upon arrival in Bali. If you have been asked by BIS or another international school to send money to cover such costs, you are probably the target of an elaborate scam. Several good international schools have recently had their web sites cloned, and candidates have been asked to send large amounts of money. All international candidates are urged to be diligent in investigating potential schools during the recruiting process and prior to signing a contract. Use extreme caution if you have been asked for money or private information.

Dyatmika’s Learner Profile embodies the school’s aims for the development of the young people enrolled in our school.

Bilingual education

In Primary, students are immersed in a stimulating bilingual English and Indonesian learning environment so that they develop as users of both languages. Our outstanding International and National teachers embrace current educational research in the area of bilingual education.
