Resources for including UiO design in LaTeX documents.
LaTeX is an advanced software system for document preparation. It is widely used in academic fields that rely on formulas and other kinds of complex notation.
Below you find document classes and packages for creating theses, letters and Beamer presentations with UiO design in LaTeX. The setup can easily be installed on your personal computer or be used in Overleaf. It is also installed on UiO's Linux machines.
Bachelor's, master's and PhD theses
With the following document classes, you can prepare thesis documents that adhere to UiO's design manual:
- files for the document classes (.zip)
- documentation of uiobachelorthesis (.pdf)
- documentation of uiomasterthesis (.pdf)
- documentation of uiophdthesis (.pdf)
Package for creating official front pages for bachelor's theses, master's theses and other documents:
- files for the package uiomasterfp (.zip)
- documentation of uiomasterfp (.pdf)
Note that front cover, colophon and back cover of PhD theses is created and added by Graphic centre.
Letter template
Document class for official letters in UiO design:

What is LaTeX?
LaTeX is an advanced alternative to word processors such as Microsoft Word. It was originally created for documents containing a lot of mathematical formulas, but is suitable for almost any kinds of articles, reports, theses, books and other publications.
LaTeX documents are created in a different manner from what we are used to with Word and similar programmes: The document is set in code, rather than through direct editing and formatting on the screen (WISYWIG).

There is one caveat for the psForUniversity variable; keep reading.. Open the content directory and create a new .tex file named exactly equal (word-for-word) to what you inserted in the psForUniversity variable. Then write your personal statement normally in this file. Note the file name must be the same word-for-word for otherwise, it will crash at compile time.

I'm looking for a professional LaTeX template for either a statement or purpose/personal statement/statement of intent/etc. for a general graduate application. Most of the ones I have seen thus far have been relatively plain, and while I don't need a template that is horribly visually abrasive, one with a bit more style wouldn't be bad.
