The school session begins in March. It also earmarks the end of the spring season. As time passes, we enter the summer season in the next few months. The advent of summer brings hot days and a humid climate. It is really hard for the students to continue school in the scorching heat. Everyone seems to be exhausted due to hot summer days. It is then the school declares summer holidays so that the students and their parents can relax for a few days. Summer vacation is the time of happiness for students as their families plan a trip to a hill station to get rid of the heat.

India is a tropical country that suffers from extreme heat and humidity during March, April, May, and mid of June. The temperature ranges from 32 to 40°C in some states falling in the tropical region. Before the rainy season starts, the scorching sun exhausts everyone. Every day becomes unbearable to go out and meet with the responsibilities. This is why a summer vacation is so important for all family members. We decided to go to Sikkim, one of the best northeastern states in India as a getaway from the summer days.

Sikkim welcomed us with a soothing cool atmosphere. We breathed fresh air after a long time and felt rejuvenated on the very first hour in Gangtok. The place is situated amidst the lower ranges of the Himalaya. The small clouds were hiding the sunrays and gave us the best feel we waited for an entire year. My father booked a hotel with an excellent view. We received a warm welcome from the management and got our rooms to stay in. On that very day, we started to scout the different locations of the capital city.

The next day, we started unwinding our stressful life. We went to Yumthang, a serene valley known for flowers and yaks grazing on the meadows. The best time to visit this place is in March-April. Teesta river flows amidst this valley providing an excellent view. The panoramic view is adorned with snow-capped mountains and green flora. It was then I realized how beautiful Mother Earth can be. This valley is also known as the Valley of Flowers. Rhododendron puts a new colour to this heavenly place.

The next day we proceeded to Tsomgo Lake. It is one of the best glacial lakes in India that provides a beautiful scene. The entire place is covered with snow at a height of 12,400 feet above sea level. The winding roads with hairpin turns took us to this place. The journey was fascinating as we travelled on a car crossing one mountain after the other. The lake was calm and quiet with many people present in the location. We also took photos while riding yaks.

Our next destination was Zero Point. It is locally known as Yume Samdong. Located at a height of 15,300 feet above the sea level, this is the last place where people dwell. Beyond this point, there are no roads. It is a valley surrounded by mountains where three rivers meet. The snow here is quite deep. We had difficulty breathing in this place due to its height and lack of oxygen but it passed within a few minutes. It is true that this place resembles the beauty of Switzerland. This is where we enjoyed a lot on the vast snow-capped valley. We made snowballs and threw them.

It was a brilliant adventure. The journey was quite rejuvenating and refreshing for all the family members. We felt sad while returning from Sikkim. I will wait for the next summer vacation to visit this state again.

There are many things that I might wish to neutralize my holidays. First of all, I will be able to visit all my friends turn by turn. They keep bugging me to go to the reception, but school keeps me too busy, my friends, and that I will play the entire day long.

Cricket is  my favourite sport, and my friends have organized cricket matches during vacations. I’m looking forward to playing and bringing honours to my team. My parents plan a holiday for fifteen days.

We decide to take the train that leaves — Delhi for Chandigarh. From there we propose to travel to Capitol Hill station called Kasauli. It is a relatively small hill station, but it’s exceptionally charming indeed.

Something’s More for Your Adrenaline

There are some beautiful resorts there, and my family likes to occupy one particular hotel  travel by  an old British lady. In Kasauli, I shall choose long walks with my sister in the morning and evening.

One often hears about apparitions in hill stations and that I love the stories that the local people tell.

I shall ask the people and doubtless unearth some unknown stories from the past. Skating may be a popular sport in Kasauli. I can skate alright now, and that I propose to spend tons of your time on the wheel of skates.

The fresh air of Capitol Hill station will rejuvenate us, and that we will come back to the town feeling more relaxed and clean.

I have many letters to write down to my friends living abroad. On my appearance back home, I propose to review it. I will be able to have the satisfaction of working and enjoying myself too.

I shall do this in my holidays, my friends, and that I can continue a short one-day picnic hebdomadally. Therefore the rest of the week shall enter lazing around, taking note of music, or watching some programs on television.

I also went for a night camping with my friends, another experience worth remembering. It felt as if I used to be within the village once more, the celebs twinkling in the dark, bonfire, and barbecued dishes to relish on. 

This summer vacation was the foremost refreshing one. It had been the time that I used to be spending within the camp. Along alongside the fun part, there was fitness involved.

How to Spend Holidays Usefully for Students?

We all know that summer vacations are about enjoying and relaxing, but studying is another essential part of life. So, we also need to keep an eye on our school books.

I always take full advantage of summer vacation by doing various activities, visiting places, and reading my books daily for 1 hour. Looking at books help you to remind your study course in your mind.

Don’t make study compulsory during your summer vacation but make it a daily habit not to feel you are studying. Don’t read stressfully; be relaxed.

How Did My Summer End?

Finally, there came the varsity projects that needed to be targeting. A couple of days remaining and the school would re-open, but at this point, I used to be all excited to inform my friends the wonderful time I had spent during my vacation.

I even have this habit of writing, so I had penned down all the activities I had done. However, my school project  was on fitness,  so I got ample experience and content for an equivalent.

I even have learned Summer vacation isn’t just for relaxing, being lazy, and doing timepass but not forgetting that I am a student.

‘This summer season, I visited my maternal grandmother’s house. In Hindi, me and my sister call her ‘nani’ —every summer season we pay our visit to her and enjoy the natural beauty of the village. The ideal time to have true fun is when on a summer vacation. My vacation this time gave me the right opportunity to try new things and learn new skills. I enrolled in a summer camp during my break. I took part in camp activities including karate, yoga, painting, singing, and dancing. On the fifteenth day of the training, my trainers organised a trip to the nearby park. We all had a terrific time despite the bad weather. I had my first experience with animals up close. I had a lot of memories from camp. I made some new friends and participated in all the activities.

My Summer Vacation

I made the choice this year to remain home for the summer instead of taking a trip. To use my free time productively, I enrolled in programmes where I studied canvas painting and concurrently began learning table tennis. In the afternoons, I aided my mother in the kitchen and my father with a few accounting-related jobs. I felt the most connected to and engaged with my family during this period. I then went out with pals for the remainder of the evening. Additionally, I watched a few movies and web series. These TV episodes and films not only entertained me, but also gave me some valuable life lessons.

I used my summer break to spend more time with my family and myself than I could have during the school year. I came to see how productive and fulfilling spending vacations at home truly was.

Since there is no academic pressure or mental stress over the summer, it is thought that this is the perfect time for kids to learn more about themselves and their environment. Additionally, this provides them with much-needed relief from the sweltering heat. Summer vacations provide a terrific opportunity for kids to take a stress-relieving excursion and be outside, something they can't do with their busy schedules during the year.

My Visit to a Hill Station

This year, our family decided to take a summer vacation to a hill station. The visual splendour of several attractive locations in India is well-known, including Mussoorie, Ooty, Wilson Hills, Kufri, Nainital, Manali, Kerala, and Rishikesh. We debated which hill station to visit for a while before deciding on Shimla.

Our Trip to Shimla

My family and I drove to Shimla in our car and arrived early in the morning. We then proceeded right away to the hotel that we had reserved. Shimla has everything to entice travellers, from opulent hotels to gorgeous settings, and mall lanes to retail streets teeming with people from many cultures.

The tour was scheduled to last five days. We visited Mall Road and Jhaku Hills, two of the city's most popular tourist destinations, on the evening of our first day of travel. There are several events taking place there in the evening. Experiencing Shimla's nightlife was also incredible. We went to the Footloose Discotheque, which was packed with lively people and humming with wonderful music.

We rode the toy train the next day. This miniature train travels between Kalka and Shimla. Only 3 such trains operate in our country, and this one is one of them. Even though they move slowly, passing through them is fun. Skiing and bungee jumping were among the winter sports we engaged in that evening.

The next days were spent travelling to towns close to Shimla including Chail, Kufri, and Chitkul. Along with admiring their stunning natural beauty, these locations may be visited for some snowy adventure.

For foodies like myself, Shimla is also a nice treat. Shimla's cuisine is peculiar in that there is no middle ground, with little eateries serving just quick food, fine restaurants serving costly booze, and cafés serving a range of teas and cold beverages. Indulgent salami burgers were what we enjoyed on weekdays on our evening stroll.

We used to become exhausted in the evening after all these days full of activity, but the nightlife there or just gazing up at the stars made us feel really happy and re-energized. Curvy roads force one to see those beautiful hills from all directions, big trees that are standing erect, and that brisk air that exalts one's spirit and emotions.

After five days in Shimla, full of enjoyment, we returned to Delhi. This trip's memories are still fresh in my mind and I have taken many pictures to show to my friends. Shimla is unquestionably the queen of the hill towns. I’m definitely looking forward to the next time we visit.

I had always wanted to play guitar. The instrument has always caught my fancy and is something that I had always wanted to own. After the exams, I requested my father for buying me a guitar which he very pleasingly accepted. Next, I joined a music class; fortunately, there was a music teacher in the same locality I live. Every single day of my vacation, I walked to the music class to learn guitar. Not a single class I missed. I must confess that playing guitar professionally isn’t easy; nevertheless, I enjoyed it as it was a passion.

Preparing in Advance

Apart from playing guitar I also prepared for the coming academic session. I had already purchased the books in advance and studied for a couple of hours every day. Though there was no compulsion on when to study, I preferred anytime during the noon as it was mostly quite. I planned it in such a way that I get some time to play after the music class.

Summer vacations are a part of the school schedule. Vacations will come every year, what’s important is how you spend them. The more usefully you spend your vacations, the more happy and content you would be.

My native village is quite a distance from the city. It is a five-hour journey by train through village landscapes. My grandparents stay there and my grandfather takes care of the fields and produces. I was ever excited to visit my village for more than one reason. The air is clean and the whole environment is so much relaxed in the villages that makes you slip immediately into the comfort zone.

I spent most of the time, visiting fields with my grandfather and learning from him about crops and the seasons they are produced in. I also played a lot with my village friends. It was routine every night to listen to a story from my grandmother and sink to sleep.

Meeting Old Friends and Making New Ones

Whenever I am in the village, I spare no time to meet my old friends. After reaching the village, and meeting my grandparents, I immediately set out to gather old friends. They knew about my arrival through word and mouth and were expecting me anytime. It was so good to see them after so long time. The best part was they were also having summer holidays, which meant that we could play for as much long as we want.

It was real fun to play with old friends. As it was the holiday season, some of my friends’ cousins were also there which gave me an opportunity to make new friends. When we got tired of playing, we chatted about our life and school. This conversation that we made helped me a lot in understanding the problems faced by my village friends. I hope that someday I will be able to help them and be a true friend. I also met the parents of my friends and was overwhelmed by the love that I got.

Visiting my village to spend the summer vacation was the best decision that I made and I am glad that I took it. I not only spent my vacation happily but also made new memories. It was a wonderful experience and had me feeling content at last.

I love summer vacations and have lots of plans for it every year. I am also quite sure that every student like me loves summer vacation as I do. I will share in the essay, how I spent my last summer vacation and how it has enriched me personally.

A School Trip with Classmates

Last summer vacation, I had gone on a school trip to a distant historical monument, around 700 Km from the city. We started early as we had an early morning train to catch. It was a complete seven days trip away from home.

I remember that it was six in the morning when the school bus came to pick me up. It seemed that the entire world was still in sleep, but inside the bus, a completely different environment was witnessed. Everyone was fully awake and happy as well as excited. Nothing could beat the feeling of exams getting over and the vacations started. The trip was an additional bonus of happiness for everyone.

All of my classmates were present on the bus as well as a couple of teachers, including my class teacher. The teachers were chatting among themselves and the children were singing, chatting and laughing. All in all, it was a sight to behold and also the happiest moment I have had in months. Soon we reached the railway station and boarded the train.

Learning and Fulfilling Experience

A little before dusk we reached the place. Our teachers have already booked the rooms in a comfortable hotel, so we headed for the hotel as soon as we deboarded the train. The next morning we were off to the sightseeing. It was a big palace built around the 19th century by a King. The design of the palace as viewed from outside was breathtaking. Every part of it was screaming about the craftsmanship that was involved in building such a beautiful piece of art.

On the inside, the architecture was even more beautiful. To this day I very clearly remember every detail of the glass ceiling, the paintings and the large doors and windows. It was in all respect a King’s palace. We hired a guide as soon as we landed there. The guide was very experienced and learned. He told us about every detail, regarding the place and patiently answered all our questions.

After going through the palace I was feeling very happy and contended. It was probably the same feeling that you get when you learn something new. As if I had solved a puzzle or scored well in a test. I guess it was because I learned so much about the history of that place and the people who built it.

Lots of Fun and Enjoyment

The trip was great fun as after the tour of the place we were overwhelmed with good memories. We also played in its exceptionally large garden of the hotel. I love outdoor games and it was a pleasure to play with my classmates on bright sunny days. We played kho-kho and other games. We even had a sprint race and other competitions each day. Though I didn’t score in any game, nevertheless, it was fun to be a part of it.

After the games or the tour every day we sat together for lunch. Everyone was sharing food with everyone and it was a really good experience.
