The participles combine verbal and nominal signs. Foreign language (Arabic, Persian) participles in Urdu are used as ordinary adjectives.
• There are several types of verb tenses in Urdu. In terms of the present, there are two kinds, in terms of the past – three, and in terms of the future, the kind can both be expressed (in three forms) and remain unexpressed. Most tenses are formed by creating a nominal predicate from a participle and an auxiliary verb. The imperative mood has several forms, which differ in the degree of politeness. Also, in Urdu, there are “intensive verbs” – combinations of the stem of a verb with one of the 12 service verbs. As a result of this combination, the main verb receives a refined shade of its meaning. Intensive verbs are usually not recorded in dictionaries, they are not separate verbs, and in each particular case, they are formed directly in speech.

اسلام میں خواتین کے لئے علم کی اہمیت

اسلام نے خواتین کے لئے تعلیم کو بہت ضروری قرار دیا ہے۔ حضرت محمّد ﷺ کا ارشاد ہے کہ علم حاصل کرنا ہر مسلمان مرد اور عورت پر فرض ہے۔بعض روایات سے ثابت ہے کہ آپﷺ کے پاس بچیاں آتیں اور آپ اپنے قیمتی وقت میں سے کچھ وقت  ان کے پڑھانے میں صرف کرتے۔ہمارے دین کا آغاز بھی علم سے ہوا۔ غار حرا میں نبی پاک ﷺ پر قرآنی آیات کے ذریعے علم ہی عطا ہوا۔حضور اکرمﷺ کے دور میں بعض خواتین، خواتین افسران سے اپنے دینی مسائل کے بارے میں استفسار کرتی تھیں۔آپﷺ کی ازواجِ مطہرات بھی خواتین کو قرآن و حدیث کا علم سکھاتی تھیں ۔آپﷺ  نے خواتین کی تعلیم کے بارے میں فرمایا:

“جس شخص نے ایک یا ایک سے زیادہ بیٹیوں کو تعلیم دی اور اچھے طریقے سے ان کی پرورش کی تو وہ جہنم کی آگ سے دور رہے گا”۔

ماں کی گود بچے کی پہلی درسگاہ

ماں کی گود میں بچہ اگرچہ بہت چھوٹا اور معصوم ہوتا ہے لیکن اس کی شخصیت اس گود کے سانچے میں ڈھالنا شروع ہوجاتی ہے۔یہ ہرگز خیال نہ کریں کہ بچہ کم فہم ہے اور کچھ نہیں سمجھتا بلکہ بچہ والدین کے اشارے سمجھتا ہے۔اس سے چھوٹی چھوٹی باتیں کرتا ہے۔اپنا مطلب سمجھاتا ہے اور اسکا مطلب سمجھتا ہے۔اگر والدہ تعلیم یافتہ ہو گئی تو وہ اس کی معصوم اور نئی منزل پر اپنے خیالات نقش کرے گی۔اپنے بچوں کو نیک و بد سمجھائے گی اور وہ انھیں اچھا انسان بنانے کی کوشش کرے گی۔کسی کا قول ہے کہ ایک شخص کو تعلیم دینا صرف اسی کو تعلیم دینا ہے جبکہ ایک عورت کو تعلیم دینے کا مطلب پورے خاندان کو تعلیم دینا ہے۔اسی طرح نپولین نے بھی کہا تھا “آپ مجھے اچھی مائیں دے دو میں تمہیں  اچھی قوم دوں گا”۔

اسلام سے قبل عرب کے لوگوں میں جہالت اور بہت سی برائیاں تھیں وہاں ایک برائی یہ بھی تھی کہ لوگ اپنی بیٹیوں کو زمین میں زندہ گاڑھ دیا کرتے تھے۔جب خدا نے نبی اکرمﷺ کی ذات اقدس کو مبعوث فرمایا تو جہالت دم توڑ گئی۔ انسانیت کے مایوس چہرے خوشی سے کھل اٹھے۔آپﷺ نے بچیوں کو ان کا حق دلایا انہیں پڑھانے لکھانے اور ان کی اچھی پرورش پر زور دیا۔

والدہ کا پڑھا لکھا ہونا بہت ضروری ہے

یہ سب کہتے ہیں کہ بچہ گھر کے ماحول سے بہت کچھ سیکھتا ہے اس کے لیے والد اور والدہ کا تعلیم یافتہ ہونا بہت ضروری ہے۔آپ ذرا غور فرمائیے کے والد کو ملازمت یا کاروبار کے سلسلے میں گھر سے باہر رہنا پڑتا ہے۔گھر میں سارا دن بچوں کا سابقہ والدہ سے رہتا ہے۔اب اگر والدہ علم کے زیور سے آراستہ ہو تو بچے اپنی والدہ سے علم کے موتی ضرور حاصل کریں گے۔اگر بچے  والدہ سے پڑھائی میں مدد نہ بھی لیں پھر بھی والدہ سے علم کی خوشبو آتی ہی رہے گی۔بچہ پہلے دن روٹی کا لقمہ بائیں ہاتھ میں پکڑتا ہے تو والدہ اسے فوراً سمجھاتی ہے کہ بیٹا لقمہ دائیں ہاتھ سے پکڑو۔ تعلیم یافتہ مائیں اپنے بچوں کو پاکیزہ ماحول دیتی ہیں۔انہیں علم ہوتا ہے کہ آج تکلیف اٹھا کر بچوں کی تربیت کی گئی تو کل یہی ننھے منے پودے شجر بنیں گے اور ان درختوں کے سائے اور صبر سے پورا معاشرہ اور پورا ملک مستفید ہوگا۔

بچہ جب اپنے پاؤں پر چلنا شروع ہو جائے تو والدہ اپنے بچے پر مزید توجہ دینا شروع کر دیتی ہے۔پڑھی لکھی والدہ جانتی ہے کہ بچہ اپنے ماحول سے بہت کچھ سیکھتا ہے۔اسے پتا ہے کہ گلی میں ایسے بچے بھی کھیلتے ہیں جو ماؤں کی توجہ کے مستحق ہیں لیکن مائیں ان پڑھ ہونے کی وجہ سے ان بچوں کو گلی میں کھیلنے کودنے اور گالی گلوچ کرنے سے نہیں روکتیں۔تعلیم یافتہ ماں اپنے بچوں کو ایسے ماحول سے دور رکھتی ہیں۔بچوں کا دل ہوتا ہے کہ وہ اپنے ہم عمر بچوں کے ساتھ کھیلیں لیکن ماں کا علم بچوں کو ایسے گندے ماحول سے بچالیتا ہے۔

سائنس اور کمپیوٹر کے دور میں خواتین کے لئے تعلیم حاصل کرنا اس لیے بھی ناگزیر ہے کہ یورپی کلچر کا زہر معصوم بچوں کے اذہان کو مسموم کررہا ہے۔اگر والدہ ان پڑھ ہے تو اسے کیا خبر کہ اس کا بچہ اس کی آنکھوں کے سامنے ہی سحر پھانک رہا ہے۔آج تفریح کے نام پر جو فلمیں دکھائی جاتی ہیں ان سے بچوں کو دور رکھنا پڑھی لکھی والدہ کا کام ہے۔بعض اوقات بچے دوسرے بچوں کی دیکھا دیکھی سے کتابیں گھر لے آتے ہیں جن کے متعلق بچے والدین کو جھوٹ کہنا شروع کر دیتے ہیں۔

اگر والدہ تعلیم یافتہ ہو تو اسے علم ہو سکے گا کہ ان کا بچہ اچھی کتابیں پڑھتا ہے یا بری۔والدہ کتابوں کے انتخاب میں اگر بچے کی رہنمائی کرے گی تو وہ اچھی کتابوں کی طرف راغب ہو گا۔اچھی کتاب اچھے دوست کی مانند ہوتی ہے جس طرح اچھا دوست اچھائی کی طرف مائل کرتا ہے اسی طرح اچھی کتاب بھی اچھائیوں کے راستے پر گامزن کر دیتی ہے۔ تعلیم یافتہ والدہ بچے کو کوئی کہانی یا واقعہ سناتی ہے تو اس کا مقصد صرف وقت گزارنا نہیں بلکہ اس کی نگاہیں بچے کی ذہنی تربیت پر مرکوز ہوتی ہیں۔

درس و تدریس

درس وتدریس ایک ایسا پیشہ ہے جو خواتین کے مزاج کے مطابق ہے۔یہ ایک ایسا پیشہ ہے کہ خواتین پردے میں رہتے ہوئے اور مردوں سے الگ تھلگ ملک و قوم کی بچیوں کو تعلیم دے سکتی ہیں۔اس کیلئے بنیادی شرط خواتین کا خود تعلیم یافتہ ہونا ہے۔

ڈاکٹری کی تعلیم

عورت کو خدا نے صنفِ نازک بنایا ہے۔اسے ماں، بہن، بیٹی اور بیوی کا روپ دے کر باپ، بیٹا ،بھائی اور خاوند کے لیے محبت، خلوص اور دکھ کا سہارا بنا دیا ہے۔ہمدردی، شفقت اور نرمی عورت کی فطرت کا حصہ ہیں۔ اس لیے اگر عورت ڈاکٹری کی تعلیم حاصل کرے تو مسیحائی میں مرد اس کا ہمسر نہیں ہو سکتا۔اسلام پردے پر زور دیتا ہے اس لیے خواتین ہی خواتین کا علاج معالجہ کر سکتی ہیں۔

گھریلو ذمہ داریاں

عورت گھریلو زندگی کو جنت بھی بنا سکتی ہے اور جہنم بھی۔اگر خاتون خانہ علم سے بےبہرہ ہو تو وہ کھانا، پکانا، سینا، پرونا اور دیگر امور سلیقے سے سرانجام نہیں دے سکے گی جبکہ ایک پڑھی لکھی عورت سلیقہ شعاری اور ہنرمندی سے گھریلو ذمہ داریاں نبھا سکتی ہے۔اگر عورت علم حساب اور علم معاشیات کو بالکل نہ سمجھے تو اس کے گھر کا بجٹ تباہ و برباد ہو کر رہ جائے گا۔اگر کمائی 19 ہو گئی تو وہ 20 خرچ کرے گی۔اس طرح اس کا گھریلو نظام اس کی جہالت کی وجہ سے بگڑ جائے گا۔

بحیثیت مجموعی عورتوں کا تعلیم یافتہ ہونا موجودہ دور میں بہت ضروری ہے۔ ایک تعلیم یافتہ عورت اچھے اور برے میں فرق کرنا جانتی ہے۔اسلیے یہ والدین کی ذمہداری ہے کہ اپنے بچوں کے ساتھ ساتھ اپنی بچیوں کو بھی تعلیم کے زیور سے آراستہ کریں تاکہ ہمارا آنے والا معاشرہ ترقی کی راہ پر گامزن ہوسکے۔

میں اپنی بات کا آغاز اپنے پیارے آقا حضرت محمد کی اس حدیث سے کرتا ہوں جس میں انھوں نے فرمایا : “علم حاصل کرنا ہر مسلمان اور عورت پر فرض ہے” اب ایک بات تو واضح ہو گئی کہ مذہب اسلام نے مردوں کے ساتھ ساتھ عورتوں کی تعلیم کو بھی اہم قرار دیا ہے۔ ایک تعلیم یافتہ خاتون ایک نسل کو پروان چڑھانے میں بہت اہم فریضہ ادا کرتی ہے اگر ماں پڑھی لکھی ہو گی تو یقیناً اس کی اولاد میں بھی اچھے اوصاف ہوں گے جو یقیناً معاشرے کے لئے سود مند ثابت ہوں گے کیونکہ کسی بھی معاشرے کی ترقی کے لئے لوگوں کا تعلیم یافتہ ہونا بہت زیادہ اہمیت کا حامل ہے لیکن نپولین کے مطابق ـ” تم مجھے تعلیم یافتہ ماں دو میں تمہیں مہذب قوم دوں گا” ایک اور مقولہ کے مطابق ” اگر آپ کسی مر کو تعلیم دلوائیں تو وہ ایک شخص کی تعلیم ہو گی لیکن اگر آپ ایک عورت کو تعلیم دیتے ہیں تو گویا آپ پورے معاشرے کو تعلیم دیتے ہیں”

معاشرے کو اس حقیقت کو سمجھنے کی ضرورت ہے کہ گھریلو، سماجی اور قومی مفادات کے لئے خواتین کی تعلیم ضروری ہے۔ لوگوں کو خواتین کو سیکھنے کے معاملے میں کمتر نہیں سمجھنا چاہئے۔ انہیں بوجھ نہیں بلکہ ایک ایسی افرادی قوت سمجھا جانا چاہئے جسے انہیں تعلیم دے کر استعمال کیا جاسکتا ہے۔ 

خواتین کی تعلیم نہ صرف انہیں مالی طور پر بااختیار بنائے گی بلکہ انہیں گھروں کی اچھی دیکھ بھال کرنے کے قابل بھی بنائے گی۔ ایک تعلیم یافتہ عورت اپنی ذمہ داریوں کو اچھی طرح جانتی ہے اور اپنے بچوں کی پرورش مہذب ماحول میں کر سکتی ہے۔ اس طرح ایک تعلیم یافتہ عورت معاشرے کی ترقی میں اپنا حصہ ڈال سکتی ہے۔ وہ ایک حوصلہ افزائی اور ہدایت شدہ نسل پیدا کرتی ہے۔

خواتین کی تعلیم کو بااختیار بنانا .

پاکستان میں خاص طور پر دیہی علاقوں میں معاشرے میں خواتین کی حیثیت بہت خراب ہے۔ خواتین کو کوئی عزت نہیں دی جاتی اور ان کے ساتھ برا سلوک کیا جاتا ہے۔ پاکستان کی خواتین کے معاملے میں تعلیم حاصل کرنے کی اجازت نہ دینے، کم عمری اور جبری شادیوں، تیزاب گردی، گھریلو تشدد اور غیرت کے نام پر قتل کا مسئلہ بہت سنگین ہے۔

 اسلام میں مردوں اور عورتوں کے ساتھ یکساں سلوک اور مساوی حیثیت کا تقاضا کیا گیا ہے پھر بھی جب پاکستان ایک اسلامی ملک ہے تو خواتین کو نہ تو مساوی حقوق دیے جاتے ہیں اور نہ ہی ان کے ساتھ یکساں سلوک کیا جاتا ہے بلکہ ان کے ساتھ غلاموں جیسا سلوک کیا جاتا ہے۔  پاکستان کو مختلف صوبوں میں تقسیم کیا گیا ہے جنہیں مزید شہری اور دیہی علاقوں میں تقسیم کیا گیا ہے۔

دیہی علاقوں میں خواتین کی حیثیت خاص طور پر بہت قابل رحم ہے اور پاکستان کے شہری علاقوں میں قدرے بہتر ہے۔ شہری علاقوں کی خواتین کسی نہ کسی طرح تعلیم حاصل کر رہی ہیں اور اچھے عہدوں پر کام کر رہی ہیں لیکن دیہی علاقوں اور دیہاتیوں کی خواتین انتہائی خراب حالت میں زندگی گزار رہی ہیں۔ پاکستان میں خواتین کی شرح خواندگی بھی بہت کم ہے کیونکہ خواتین کو تعلیم حاصل کرنے کی اجازت نہیں ہے اور انہیں صرف گھر پر ہی رہنا پڑتا ہے۔

ورلڈ بینک کی رپورٹ کے مطابق 2022 میں خواتین عالمی آبادی کا 49.6 فیصد تھیں۔ خواتین بڑی تعداد میں موجود ہیں. وہ ان کی جنس اور جنس کے بارے میں ایک جیسے ہیں. چونکہ تعلیم کا مقصد انسان کو سوچنے اور عمل کرنے کے قابل بنانا ہے ، لہذا خواتین کی تعلیم ضروری ہے۔ 

تعلیم ایک فرد کی صلاحیتوں کو پالش کرتی ہے۔ قدرت نے خواتین کو غیر معمولی صلاحیتوں سے نوازا ہے۔ لہٰذا معاشرے کی ترقی اور ترقی کے لیے خواتین کی تعلیم کی اشد ضرورت ہے

پاکستان ایک ایسا ملک ہے جو مذہب یعنی اسلام کی بنیاد پر وجود میں آیا ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے مسلمانوں کو دین کی پیروی کرنے اور زندگی گزارنے کے بارے میں ایک مکمل ہدایت فراہم کی ہے۔ قرآن مجید اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ و آلہ وسلم کے اقوال دین کی پیروی کرنے اور زندگی بسر کرنے کا مکمل مشورہ اور قاعدہ ہیں تاکہ مسلمان یہاں اور آخرت دونوں جگہ کامیاب ہو سکیں۔

 اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے پیارے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو وحی عطا فرمائی ہے اور پہلی وحی علم کے بارے میں تھی۔ علم حاصل کرنے کی ضرورت کو اس طرح واضح طور پر بیان نہیں کیا جاسکتا ہے۔  اللہ تبارک وتعالیٰ نے قرآن مجید میں ارشاد فرمایا: (اے محبوب! اللہ کے نام کے ساتھ پڑھو جس نے (ہر چیز) کو پیدا کیا ہے۔ اس نے انسان کو جونک (ماں کے پیٹ میں) کی طرح لٹکے ہوئے بڑے پیمانے پر (چپکے ہوئے) سے پیدا کیا ۔ 

پڑھو اور تمہارا رب بڑا مہربان ہے جس نے انسان کو قلم سے پڑھنا سکھایا اور اس کے علاوہ انسان کو وہ سب کچھ سکھایا جو وہ نہیں جانتا تھا ” (العلق 96:1-5)۔ اس آیت سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ چاہتا ہے کہ اس کے ماننے والے مطالعہ کریں اور علم حاصل کریں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ بھی فرمایا کہ اس نے اپنے آدمی کو پڑھنا لکھنا سکھایا ہے اور اسے تعلیم حاصل کرنے کی ہدایت کی ہے۔

UN chief calls for global action to defend women’s rights amid disturbing trends

The UN Secretary-General on Monday highlighted the urgent need to defend women's rights which are under threat, citing a reversal in hard-won progress, increasing violence against women and a growing digital gender divide.

Addressing the opening of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the pivotal forum dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the rights of women and girls worldwide, Secretary-General António Guterres stressed the disproportionate impact of wars on women.

“In conflict zones around the globe, women and girls are suffering most from wars waged by men,” he said, urging immediate ceasefires and humanitarian aid.

He emphasized the appalling situation in Gaza, where over two-thirds of those killed and injured during Israel’s offensive are reportedly women and girls. He also noted shocking testimonies of sexual violence against Palestinian women in detention settings, house raids and checkpoints in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

In Israel, he added, last week’s report released by UN Special Representative Pramila Patten highlights horrific sexual violence against women and girls and indications of sexualized torture during the terror attacks launched by Hamas and other armed groups on 7 October.

Mr. Guterres also voiced concern over the situation faced by women in other countries, including Afghanistan and Sudan.

“In Afghanistan, the Taliban has issued more than 50 edicts suppressing women’s and girls’ rights. In Sudan, scores of women have reportedly been subjected to rape and other forms of sexual violence in the ongoing conflict,” he said.

Women peacemakers

Secretary-General Guterres stressed that despite evidence that women’s full participation makes peacebuilding much more effective, the number of women in decision-making roles is falling.

“The facts are clear: Women lead to peace,” he said, calling for more funding and new policies to boost women’s participation and investment in women peacebuilders.

Digital gender divide

The UN chief also emphasized a growing digital gender divide, noting the dominance of men in digital technologies, particularly in Artificial Intelligence.

He warned that male-dominated algorithms could perpetuate inequalities into various aspects of life, noting that women’s needs, bodies and fundamental rights are often overlooked in the design of systems by male leaders and technologists.

“It’s time for governments, civil society and the Silicon Valleys of the world to join a massive effort to bridge the digital gender divide and ensure women have decision-making roles in digital technology at all levels,” he urged.

Breaking glass ceilings

Mr. Guterres also drew attention to the pressing need for women to hold leadership roles, particularly in financial institutions.

He highlighted the stark gender disparity in finance, with over eight  of ten finance ministers and more than nine out of ten central bank governors being men.

The Secretary-General emphasized that dismantling structural barriers is crucial for achieving gender parity in leadership roles.

“Overwhelmingly male-dominated financial institutions need to dismantle the structural barriers that are blocking women from leadership roles,” he said.

Drawing parallels with the UN’s successful achievement of full gender parity among senior management and leaders worldwide, he urged governments, banks and businesses to replicate these efforts, emphasizing that change does not happen by accident.

Call to action

The Secretary-General concluded his address by urging the international community to unite in the fight for gender equality, emphasizing that the CSW serves as a catalyst for transformative change.  

He called for collaborative efforts to end poverty in all its dimensions.

“Let’s do it by investing in women and girls, betting on women and girls, and pushing for peace and dignity for women and girls everywhere,” Mr. Guterres said.

Equal access needed

The President of the General Assembly, Dennis Francis, continued the call to action, highlighting the urgency of intensifying efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With the world currently lagging attaining the Goals, particularly the Goal to eradicate extreme poverty (SDG1), Mr. Francis revealed a stark reality:

“Currently, one in every ten women lives in extreme poverty – I repeat – one in every ten women,” he said.

Underscoring the need for a multidimensional approach, the Assembly President urged equal access to resources, gender-responsive social protection policies, and measures to end gender-based discrimination inhibiting women’s leadership and decision-making roles.

68th session

The 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women is taking place from 11 to 22 March at the UN Headquarters, in New York, under the priority theme, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.”

Held every year, CSW is the largest global gathering of civil society representatives, government officials, policy makers and experts to take stock of progress on gender equality, discuss pressing issues and agree on actions to transform the lives of women and girls everywhere.

It consists of a wide range of meetings, panel discussions, interactive dialogues, ministerial round tables, intergovernmental negotiations and more.
