Capstone project
The Capstone project is a significant piece of engineering work conducted in the final session(s) of the Bachelor of Engineering with the guidance of an academic advisor.

Get started on your Capstone project
Your Capstone Project allows you to demonstrate your capacity to integrate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout your course and apply them to a real-world engineering problem.
Capstone subjects
You enrol in the following subjects*:
- 41029 Engineering Research Preparation (6cp) ( 41029 is a pre-requisite to 41030 )
- 41030 Engineering Capstone 6cp)
Note: Students generally enrol in these subjects over two consecutive sessions. The subjects are available in Autumn and Spring sessions, but there is limited availability in Summer Session via eRequest. To enquire about Summer enrolment, email us at [email protected] .
- 48006 Capstone Project (6cp)
*Please refer to your study plan for correct subject numbers
How to enrol in your Capstone project
ProjectMatch
Start planning your Capstone project in the session prior to enrolment. Log in to ProjectMatch to find an academic advisor, browse suggested topics and register your project.
If you have not already done so, enrol in the appropriate Project subject(s) via My Student Admin .
If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] .
Capstone library
A collection of previous students' distinction and high distinction capstone reports are available for students to view. Reports from Autumn 2018 onwards are available to access via UTS library and for previous reports, please email [email protected] with details of the report you would like to access including project number (e.g. S17-111).
For further details on how to access the reports via UTS library and a complete list of capstone reports available, please see the Resources and Forms link on Canvas.

Engineering capstone help

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how the engineering capstone preparation subject is meant to work? I've heard conflicting messages about when and how you're meant to look for a supervisor and how active you need to be in looking for a project.

Have you read the capstone student guide?
I recommend reading over it
Basically you need to use ProjectMatch to find a topic and supervisor.
If you have your own idea, approach a potential supervisor and then you can register it in projectmatch if they agree to supervise.
Once you are registered in projectMatch you can then enrol in ERP.
Read the student guide as it goes over most things
