Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management

Master of science.

We have compiled the most important information regarding the application and admission process for our new Master’s programme Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (EIM). You can also find the current deadlines below.

General information about application and admission requirements

Application process.

The application period for the summer semester is from December 1 until January 15.

The application period for the winter semester is from June 1 until July 15.

Applicants should familiarize themselves with the steps in the admission process described below and expect to receive a written exam invitation. Alternatively, you can submit a GMAT (at least 650 points).

We do not work with Uni-assist. To apply, please use our application portal. The application portal opens on the first day of the particular application period and closes for these degree programmes after the application deadline.

Whether German or foreign HZB – the online application portal TUCaN (opens in new tab) is available for all prospective students and the same application deadlines apply.

Look here for further information about applying with international qualifications: International Admission

Admission requirements

Requirements for admission to both master’s degree programmes comprise a “Bachelor of Science” degree from the programmes B.Sc. Business Administration/Industrial Engineering (Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen) of TU Darmstadt or an equivalent degree, for example: Business Administration/Management or Business Mathematics.

Note: a Bachelor thesis is one of the most relevant requirements for a direct admission. Furthermore, a solid background in the field of Economics and Business administration is required and will be evaluated thoroughly.

To be admitted to the master’s degree programme, you must prove your study experience in the field of Business Administration and Economics totalling at least 45 credit points (CP), in Mathematics and Statistics totalling 20 CP, in Law at least 9 CP as well as an independently produced seminar work (6 CP) and a Bachelor thesis (12 CP).

All certificates can be checked only during the application period; we do not offer any kind of pre-evaluation!

Language requirements

All compulsory courses are held in English. Therefore, you need to show evidence that your English knowledge meets a C1 level. Please check the Equivalence table of Language Resource Centre of TU Darmstadt displaying the different exam formats, which are accepted, and some further options of English proof.

We recommend German language skills at level A2-B1, as German remains the official language at the TU Darmstadt and in order to be able to take advantage of the full range of courses offered by the department.

Further information

Regarding the visa, insurance, or accommodation questions please contact the International Student Services (ISS) .

More information about scholarships you will find here.

Application and admission process

application letter for eim student

Perform your  Online Application  via the application portal of the International Admission Office and follow the given instructions.

Fill in the entry competency sheet (opens in new tab) and indicate all the relevant courses you had during your previous studies.

Assort your  paper documents  and send them to the International Admission Office. You must send via post a set of authenticated copies of the academic transcripts, degree certificate, and English proficiency certificate, as well as translations if needed.

Documents will be forwarded to the Department of Law and Economics for detailed subject-specific examination. If all required competencies mentioned in Step 2 can be derived from your previous studies, you will be admitted directly.

Applicants without Business majors in the bachelor's programmes, such as those who have studied Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, will be most likely rejected.

If there is a doubt about the required competencies according to your previous studies, we will invite you to the entrance examination , which will take place at TU Darmstadt and in a location-independent online form so that all applicants have the same chances and can participate from everywhere.

Specific degree entrance competencies for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management M.Sc. and Logistics and Supply Chain Management M.Sc. tested in the entrance exam are following:

  • Mathematics
  • General Business Administration
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management or Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • Business Information Systems
  • Law science

You can see a sample entrance exam here. (opens in new tab)

If you have passed the entrance exam, you will be admitted directly.

Alternatively, you can take a GMAT externally. The accepted score for a direct admission is 650 or higher.

The next entrance examination will take place on February, 23 at 2 pm. All applicants will be informed at the end of the application period whether they must take part in the entrance exam.

To be informed about the status of your application, please refer to the  International Admission Office . Do not call the Office for Student Affairs (Studienbüro), since we have no information related to your application status. After the departmental decision about your admission to one of the Master’s programmes, an official admission letter will be issued by the International Admission Office and sent to you.

Application process and admission requirements

How does the application and admission process work for students from Germany?

Here you can find instructions for an online application at TU Darmstadt for students with a German higher education entrance qualification.

After a centralized check of your documents, the Department of Law and Economics will conduct an internal review of your entrance competencies according to the examination regulations for the master’s programmes EIM and LSCM.

Applicants should familiarize themselves with the steps in the admission process and expect to receive a written exam invitation.

All steps of the admission process can be found on the departmental homepage.

I come from a foreign university. What should I prepare and what are the requirements for the process of enrolment of the Department of Law and Economics?

Please inform yourself about the required documents for international students and how to apply with international university entrance qualification on the central website of TU Darmstadt.

What are the language requirements?

All compulsory courses are held in English. Therefore, you need to show evidence that your English knowledge meets a C1 level. Please check the Equivalence table displaying the different exam formats which are accepted and some further options of English proof.

Do I need to provide a German language certificate?

No, since these master’s programmes are taught in English, you do not need to provide a German certificate. However, we strongly recommend starting with German as soon as possible.

Is there a numerus clausus for the master’s programmes EIM and LSCM?

No, neither of these programmes is admission restricted in this sense. Whether you are admitted directly depends on your bachelor's degree, more precisely on the required entry competencies. Please read more about the admission process on our website.

If I have obtained my diploma abroad, do I meet the admission requirements for the master's programme and can I apply for it at TU Darmstadt?

This cannot be answered in general. It depends on your subject and study programme. However, your documents will be checked individually and as thoroughly as for applicants from Germany.

Please note that we can only provide you with information on your eligibility for your chosen degree programme after you have completed and submitted the online application , and your application and the necessary documents have reached us via post.

If I have a bachelor’s degree in another subject and would now like to do a master’s degree in EIM or LSCM at TU Darmstadt, do I have the option of admission?

In any case, you should bring a large part of courses in Business Administration and Economics from your bachelor's degree. You have to fill out an entry competency sheet which you can download after your online application in the application portal and submit with all documents via post. You can also find the competency sheet (opens in new tab) in the download area of EIM/LSCM on the departmental homepage. It is very likely that you will be invited to the entrance exam. Direct admission is an exception for graduates of German universities as well as for international applicants. Alternatively, you can submit a GMAT (at least 650 points).

Can I submit my documents via email?

No, you need to submit all your documents via post to TU Darmstadt. More information about documents you will find here.

How does the application and admission process work for students who are currently studying at the TU Darmstadt?

You can apply via TUCaN and send your documents afterwards to the Office for Student Affairs or Yuliya Haryst (International Relations and Mobility) via post or email. You need to send the confirmation form, your Bachelor’s degree certificate and English proof.

Until when can language skills be submitted for applicants from Germany if these are not yet available at the time of application?

You can submit your language certificate until October 31th for studies in winter semester or until April 30th for studies in summer semester.

Planning and organizing your studies

Is it possible to transfer the CP from my previous study programme at the TU?

Yes, the transfer is possible. Please follow two steps in the following instruction:

1) Send a request via contact form , attach a course proposal to be recognized with assignment to the areas of your study plan. Please note that your technical courses belong to Studium Generale and not to Engineering and Natural Science, because purely technical content is considered unrelated to the subject.

2) Office for Student Affairs enters your credits in Tucan

Is it possible to transfer the CP from my previous study programme at a German/foreign university?

Yes, the transfer is possible to transfer the CP from a previous Master’s degree (not Bachelor’s!). Please follow this instruction:

1) Send a request via contact form and attach your transcript.

2) Office for Student Affairs will issue the application form for you and inform you about necessary documents and next steps of the recognition procedure.

Should I be able to speak German for the studies?

No, it is not a requirement for enrolment. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended to start learning German before your studies. This will give you more confidence in everyday life in Germany.

Can I take a German class at TU Darmstadt?

Yes, a basic German language class will be offered for EIM and LSCM students. Furthermore, you can take additional classes of the Language Resource Centre.

Where can I find the examination regulations and module handbooks?

You can find these both most important documents regarding your studies in the download area EIM / LSCM on the departmental homepage.

What kind of exchange possibilities exist for the new master’s programmes?

Here you can find the partner institutions of our department (choose „Dept. 01“ at „Fach-/Studienbereich“).

For more details, please contact the Advisor for International Relations & Mobility or the International Office of TU Darmstadt.

Who is the contact person when I have some troubles with the organization of my studies after official admission?

You can contact Yuliya Haryst (International Relations and Mobility) . Afterwards, your message will be forwarded to the responsible contact person.

If you have any questions about the organization of your studies, our Office for Student Affairs (“Studienbüro”) is the right contact point.

If you have specific questions about the subject, please contact the Study Advisory Service of the corresponding chair.

Is it possible to study EIM/LSCM as part-time?

Yes, it is possible, even from the first semester. Read more here.

  • The person applying online must have a valid Taxpayer Identification Number (SSN, ITIN, EIN).
  • The "responsible party" is the person who ultimately owns or controls the entity or who exercises ultimate effective control over the entity. Unless the applicant is a government entity, the responsible party must be an individual (i.e., a natural person), not an entity.

Employer tax responsibilities explained (Publications 15, 15-A and 15B)

Publication 15 PDF provides information on employer tax responsibilities related to taxable wages, employment tax withholding and which tax returns must be filed. More complex issues are discussed in Publication 15-A PDF and tax treatment of many employee benefits can be found in Publication 15. We recommend employers download these publications from IRS.gov. Copies can be requested online (search "Forms and Publications) or by calling 800-TAX-FORM .

We cannot process your application online if the responsible party is an entity with an EIN previously obtained through the Internet. Please use one of our other methods to apply. See How to apply for an EIN . We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Purpose of an Employer Identification Number

Employer Identification Numbers are issued for the purpose of tax administration and are not intended for participation in any other activities (e.g., tax lien auction or sales, lotteries, etc.)

Exempt organization information

If you believe your organization qualifies for tax exempt status (whether or not you have a requirement to apply for a formal ruling), be sure your organization is formed legally before you apply for an EIN. Nearly all organizations exempt under IRC 501(a) are subject to automatic revocation of their tax-exempt status if they fail to file a required annual information return or notice for three consecutive years. When you apply for an EIN, we presume you're legally formed and the clock starts running on this three-year period.

Example: Your organization applies for an EIN in November 2023 and chooses a December accounting period. Your first tax period would end on December 31, 2023, and your first return or notice (if your organization does not meet one of the few exceptions to the annual reporting requirement) would be due May 15, 2024. You would be subject to automatic revocation of your exemption if you fail to file for the three periods that end December 31, 2025 (return/notice due May 15, 2026) or for any consecutive three-year period thereafter.

Reporting of beneficial ownership information

You may be required to report certain information on your beneficial owners to the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Certain types of corporations, limited liability companies, and other similar entities created in or registered to do business in the United States must report information about their beneficial owners—the persons who ultimately own or control the company, to FinCEN beginning on January 1, 2024 . If you are a company required to report, the initial beneficial ownership information reporting is based on the date your company receives actual notice that its creation or registration is effective, or after a secretary of state or similar office first provides public notice of its creation or registration, whichever is earlier.

Questions such as will my company be required to report beneficial ownership information to FinCEN, who is a beneficial owner, and when do I need to report my company's beneficial ownership information are found on FinCEN's website.

FinCEN's BOI pages provide:

  • Answers to frequently asked questions
  • Infographics about key filing dates PDF
  • An introductory video and more detailed informational video

Contact FinCEN for more information and questions regarding BOI.  Do not contact the IRS; all inquiries must be directed to FinCEN.

This study primarily aimed at assessing the OJT Program of La Consolacion College Tanauan, the objective of which is to develop an OJT Manual for its students and Practicum Coordinators. It involved 44 students under the School of Business and Accountancy, School of International Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism Management, School of Education, and School of Information Technology who were enrolled in their practicum course for school year 2011-2012 at La Consolacion College Tanauan. The descriptive method of research was utilized as the research design while the data gathering instruments were the survey questionnaire, unstructured interviews and focus group discussion. Statistical tools used were frequency, percentage and weighted mean. Significant findings revealed that the OJT Program of La Consolacion College Tanauan is well described and meets CHED minimum standards in terms of qualifications of students, industry linkages, number of hours, monitoring and evaluation and OJT requirements. Majority of the respondents are BSHRM and BSBA students. Most of them are with the service industry, in Housekeeping and General Administration Department, doing clerical works. The host establishments assessed the performance of the practicumers in terms of competencies, skills, attitude, and personality development as excellent. In line with this, the practicumers did not encounter any problem in their OJT in terms of training, work environment and school support. On the other hand, Practicum Coordinators encountered minimal problems concerning the training of practicumers. There are no significant differences on the performance of practicumers when grouped according to their profile variables because the practicumers were assessed as excellent in all variables. As such, an OJT Training Manual for the practicumers and the Practicum Coordinators is proposed.

López-Fogués, A., Rosado, R., Valiente, O., Fuentes, H. and Aragón, E. (2018) Pilot Evaluation of the Mexican Model of Dual TVET in the State of Mexico. Project Report. University of Glasgow and Tecnológico de Monterrey. Since the first public announcement of the Mexican Model of Dual TVET (MMFD) in June 2013, more than 5,000 apprentices have enrolled in the programme and around 2,000 already graduated. The Ministry of Education (SEP and CONALEP), the Chambers of Commerce (i.e. COPARMEX) and the German Cooperation Agencies (i.e. CAMEXA) have been collaborating with state authorities, families, schools and companies to turn this initial idea into a significant and sustainable initiative. Although the numbers are still small, it seemed necessary to undertake a pilot evaluation study of the implementation and impact of this program on its participants to inform those responsible for this policy. We decided to focus our study on the State of Mexico because of the higher number of apprentices in this state and because of the access that the CONALEP authorities gave us to the informants. The report that you are about to read is structured in four main sections. In the first one we reviewed the international evidence on the experiences of policy transfer of Dual TVET. Transferring international good practice sin TVET is always a complex process that requires careful attention to the experiences and lessons from those that tried to do it before. In the second section, we present the main characteristics of the Mexican Model of Dual TVET and the specificities of its implementation in the State of Mexico. In a federal country like Mexico, it is important to understand that national policies may largely vary across states in terms of design and implementation. The third section outlines the methodology of the study, which is inspired by the realist evaluation principles. Realist evaluation, not only tries to measure the impact of interventions on beneficiaries, but also to understand the causal mechanisms that explain why this policy is more effective in certain contexts and with certain beneficiary populations than in others. In the final section, the results of the interviews and the survey with 25 apprentices that completed their studies under the MMFD in the State of Mexico are presented. Obviously, the reduced sample of the study limits the representativeness of our findings but it will offer some expected and unexpected results that should not be ignored by those involved in this policy in the State of Mexico and nationally.

The internship provides extensive training for students that may improve their skills, knowledge, and even attitude that are necessary for their future work. Specifically, this study evaluates the performance of 116 student-trainees in terms of attendance and punctuality, knowledge and quality of work, and general attitude. Feedback reports, experiences of student-trainees, and performance appraisal reports by trainers/supervisors are being used in this study. This paper also aims to determine the level of satisfaction of student-trainees on the industry immersion program in one of the State Universities and Colleges in the Philippines. A descriptive method of research is used with standard instruments enumerated above. Findings show that the respondents performed very satisfactory during their internship. Moreover, the student-trainees are highly satisfied on the industry immersion (IIM) program of the university. The results also show the relationship between the student-trainees' internship performance and the level of satisfaction on industry immersion program. This study may be served as a basis to enhance the program that will benefit the students, academic institution, and cooperating partner industries. Introduction The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is mandated to develop and promote policies, systems, procedures and programs that address globalization, changing policies of trade in goods and services. CHED shall require student exchange established by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) of string with business and industry to promote and provide students with competitive skills and attitudes for employment. In order to promote the well-being of tertiary students, quality of their learning and constant exposure may ensure their safety while undergoing practicum considering the nature of the training course program. This program aims to provide territory enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines with the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge, skills, and desirable attitudes and values in reputable establishments/industries in the country (CHED, 2009).
