This article was updated in December 2023

Quizlet is part gaming platform, part quiz, and part teaching tool. Crucially, it's built with all three in mind and, as such, offers a superb balance that makes it a valuable tool to use in education.

This will adaptively learn and change to suit the student, making it a teaching assistant that can help instruct, but also assess the areas in which students may need help.

Quizlet offers visual materials, fill-in-the-blank-style games, and more. Importantly, the company points out that 90 percent of students who use it end up getting higher grades -- so it appears to work.

While this used to offer a lot of free materials, the pay structure has tightened up. But with the use of AI tools it also offers more resources than ever before.

Read on to find out everything you need to know about Quizlet for teachers.

  • What is Google Classroom?

What is Quizlet?

At its most basic, Quizlet is a digital pop-quiz database. It features more than 300 million study sets, each one being like a deck of flash cards. It's also interactive, with the ability to create your own study set, or clone and edit those of others.

Verified Creators, as they're called, also create and share study sets. These come from curriculum publishers and educational institutions so you know they will be of a high caliber.

Quizlet

Quizlet is sectionalized by subject so it can easily be navigated to find a specific study target. Lots of these use flashcard-style layouts that offer a prompt or question that the student can select to flip over to get the answer.

But there are various options that let you learn more from the same data in different ways. So you could select "learn" instead of "flashcards," and then the question would be given only with multiple choice answers, for a more active learning approach.

What's new in Quizlet?

Quizlet is often updating what it has to offer and it now has a new design overhaul with the idea of making everything more engaging for students and teachers alike.

Some previously free-to-access sections are no longer there since both the Learn and the Test Modes requires you to have a Quizlet Plus account to get access.

The use of AI-powered tools has resulted in a huge amount of new materials available in recent months, and the company says that's only going to continue to grow.

How does Quizlet work?

Quizlet is broken down into several styles, including:

Flashcards are pretty self explanatory, like real ones, with a question on one side and the answer on the other.

Learn puts questions and answers into multiple choice-style quizzes that can be completed to get an overall result. This applies to images, too.

Spell will speak aloud a word and the student is then required to type out the spelling of it.

Test is an auto-generated mix of questions with written, multiple choice, and true-or-false answer options.

Match has you pairing up correct words or a mix of words and images.

Gravity is a game that has asteroids with words coming at a planet you need to protect by typing out the words before they hit.

Live is a game mode that allows for multiple students to work collaboratively.

Quizlet

What are the best Quizlet features?

Quizlet has all those excellent modes that allow for a variety of ways to get information across for learning across a broad range of subjects.

The smart adaptive nature of Quizlet is a really powerful feature. The Learn mode uses data from millions of anonymous sessions and then generates adaptive study plans designed to improve learning.

Quizlet offers a lot of support for English language learners and students with learning differences. Select a word or definition, and it will be read aloud. Or, in the case of teacher accounts, attach your own audio recording. It's also possible to add visual learning aids to cards with specific images or custom diagrams.

Quizlet has a plethora of media that can be used, including a huge pool of licensed Flickr photography. Music can also be added, allowing for very targeted learning. Or teachers may find something ideal that has already been created and is available in the selection of shared online quizzes.

Quizlet Live is superb as students are given codes and once they sign in they're randomly grouped for a game to start. For each question, a selection of possible answers appear on teammates' screens, but only one of them has the right answer. Students must work together to determine which is the correct one. At the end, a snapshot is provided for teachers to see how well the students have understood the material.

How much does Quizlet cost?

Quizlet is free to sign-up to and start using.

For teachers, it's charged at $34 per year to get extra features, such as the ability to upload your own images and to record you own voice – both powerful options if you want the freedom to create your own study sets from scratch.

Teachers can also track learner activity with formative assessments and homework as well. Teachers can also adapt Quizlet Live, organize classes, use the app, and have no ads.

Quizlet best tips and tricks

Play a game Use a game such as Gravity to help students learn the nature of this digital tool while learning and gaming at the same time.

Star terms Have students star terms so they can revisit them later, or star them yourself to draw attention to areas that need covering.

Use test mode Have students use test mode first so you can assess where they are on the subject before deciding what extra help may be necessary.

10 Chrome Homework Extensions That Really Work for Students

Chrome helps you research your homework. But did you know about these extensions that help you plan and execute your school assignments as well?

If you mainly use Chrome to do research academic papers, projects, or assignments, why not use handy browser extensions to manage that homework for you?

These learning tools in your browser let you plan your tasks, help you research, and assist with your studies. And best of all, you don't have to worry about opening a separate application.

Lists for Assignments

Quick lists can help you stay on track. These cool tools let you add and mark off items as you go.

Synchro is a task tracker extension built for students. A clean, intuitive tool, it lets you add tasks, specify the deadlines, and choose the current status.

Synchro lists all the tasks under three columns- to-do, in progress, and completed. As you work on your tasks, you can drag and drop them into the relevant columns.

Once you're done, you can completely delete the task. Synchro also color codes the tasks, depending on the due dates, and sends task reminders. It integrates with Canvas LMS and automatically adds assignments from Canvas as tasks.

2. Tasks for Canvas

If you use Canvas LMS, then Tasks for Canvas is a must-have Chrome extension. The extension integrates with your Canvas account and adds a sidebar, showing all the tasks you need to do.

Since it is linked with the Canvas LMS, tasks will be automatically added and categorized according to the course. You can create custom tasks and mark them as complete. By default, it shows a weekly view, but you can adjust it to daily or monthly.

What's best about the\is extension is its beautiful layout. The extension adds colored rings for each course to show the progress.

3. Homework Tracker

Sometimes simple is sensational. Maybe you just have a basic list of assignments or projects that you want to track. Homework Tracker is ideal for this. Click the toolbar button to add or view your items and see a count of uncompleted tasks with the icon badge.

Enter your class, assignment, and due date (if you have one) and click Add . Then, as you complete your work, hit the Done button. You can sort by due date, so the closest items are right at the top. Homework Tracker is basic yet effective.

4. My Homework Reminder

My Homework Reminder is another good assignment list extension for Chrome. Click the toolbar button , add your assignment and due date, and hit Save .

You can sort by assignment or due date, mark the boxes for items you finish, and review your completed assignments easily. If you need to delete an item, just click the trash can and away it goes. Just like Homework Tracker, My Homework Reminder is simple but gets the job done.

Homework Helpers

Instead of random Googling, try these extensions to get the homework help you need quickly.

In case you don't know, Quizlet is a popular education website with learning tools and study guides. Thanks to the textbook solutions available on the site, you can easily find homework help. But this extension called Quizlit makes the process even easier.

The add-on lets you search Quizlet from any webpage, so you don't have to open the Quizlet site every time. Just click the Quizlit button , enter your question in the search bar, and press enter to see the relevant answers from Quizlet. Even better, you can select any question and choose Search for from the right-click context menu.

The extension shows multiple answers for each question and lets you copy the suggested answers with a single click. If you don't find the answers on Quizlet, you can try searching for them on the other tutoring sites for homework help .

2. AIR MATH

If you need homework help specifically for mathematics, AIR MATH is a great extension. Just use the extension to take a screenshot of the question, and the tool solves the problem along with a step-by-step solution.

Although it does offer free credits, you'll likely need to purchase extra credits or upgrade to a paid subscription. If you're not keen to pay for this extension, there are other online tools for solving math problems . AIR MATH is also available as a mobile app.

Buttons for Searches

When you need to do a fast search, a basic button can be the answer. These Chrome extensions let you search with a click.

1. Google Scholar Button

Google offers a ton of search tools and some are specific to patents, images, and of course, education. The Google Scholar Button lets you search for a topic easily. Click the button in your toolbar, pop in your search term, and then get your results.

You will receive a short number of results within the search window and can select a title to go right to the page. Or to view all results, click the full-screen button at the bottom of the pop-up window and a new tab will open for you. This is one of the must-have online tools if you're doing academic research .

Download: Google Scholar Button (Free)

2. Course Hero

Course Hero is similar to Google Scholar in that you click the button to search for a topic and then head to the site for the results. What's a bit different is that you need to create an account to obtain the resource. But, you can create one for free in just a few minutes.

Then, you will have access to documents and flashcards relating to your topic. Plus, you can get help from educators. You can also bookmark sources, keep track of your recently viewed items, and download the mobile app to study on-the-go.

Helpers for Focus

Don't get distracted by social media when you are doing homework. Use one of these awesome tools to help you focus and finish.

1. ReCall Study Time

Set up your study session, mark the pages you want to monitor, and get to work with ReCall Study Time. You can choose from two hours for those quick homework sessions or 24 hours for the all-nighters. Then, select the social media sites to block like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

If you feel yourself weaken and head to one of the monitored sights, you will instead be greeted with a nasty-gram like the one above. If you have trouble staying away from social media to get your homework done, check out ReCall Study Time.

Download: ReCall Study Time (Free)

2. Focus Mode

Focus Mode is another site-blocking tool to use while you are doing your homework. The extension monitors four sites by default, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. You can choose which to unblock and add a custom blocked site if there is an additional temptation not on that list.

When you start your study or research session, just hit the extension button in the toolbar and turn on the toggle button . Then, when you try to access one of the monitored pages, you will view a blurred screen with a message that focus mode is on.

When you finish, turn off the toggle button and check out your distraction attempts if you're curious. You can also take a five-minute break when you're tempted to check your feed.

Get Your Homework Done

We get it. Managing all the deadlines for assignments, projects, and quizzes can be challenging. But with the right tools and a bit of planning, you can get your homework done without sacrificing fun.

This is exactly what these Chrome extensions let you do—tracking your tasks, improving your productivity, and helping you complete your homework. If you find these homework add-ons helpful, you should try mobile apps for students.

Slader also had a Verified solutions section, where answers were verified by a team of experts.

Slader used to offer three options:

No surprise that the Slader free version was extremely popular, especially among high school students, as according to various reviews, it offered quite a lot:

This app / site has truly helped me remember terminologies from my lectures (especially in biology) because you get to make your own test with your own notes then practice test yourself. Not to mention most of these features are completely free, you’re given the chance for premium for even more features but for all you need to review, it’s right there. Right now, I’m trying to learn a new language so I went back onto this app and it has truly been helping me by testing me on word meanings, how to spell the word, and even vice versa from my native language to the new one. There are so many free features and I’m really grateful. Thank you for this wonderful platform. Now, all it really takes is time, dedication, and perseverance to get through and I hope to be using this years from now when I get into med school.

This app is a literal life saver!!!

So the first time I used this, I studied history to prepare for my exam and got a perfect score!!!! This app is really great for memorization and revising. It has a lot of features that you can use, it makes me comfy too! Include this app in your study routine and you’ll ace a topic for sure. I also use this for language learning, it also helps me to memorize vocabulary if you’re interested. I recommended this app to my friend so that she can enjoy learning too! Use Quizlet for better study sessions, it will make your life easier. Though, Its a high demand to let every user download a set without paying. It will make the app much better. Overall, this app is great. It will help a lot of students😊 Recommended.

Great tool for memorizing

I’m in a health-related degree and the amount of information that we need to memorize is ridiculous. I’ve been using this app on and off since my first year in college and I noticed a great difference on my performance on an exam when I utilize this app (I just don’t have the time to make a set sometimes). I also influenced my group of friends to use it, and now I’m the one receiving sets from them 😂 I have a couple of suggestions for this app: 1) Please add a feature that would allow us to follow other users of this app so we could automatically see the sets that other people have created. It would be beneficial for people like us in my group of friends who study the same subjects because we could avoid creating the same set for the same lecture. 2) Add a feature wherein two or more users could collaborate in making a set. It would speed up creating one if many could work on it at the same time. And if ever this is done, please make it available for free users 🙏 3) Please add an option wherein we could be billed MONTHLY for the subscription. I really want to try it but it would be a waste for me if I subscribe for a year since classes only last for 10 months in a regular school year in our country.

Slader (quizlet explanations) vs. chegg study vs. course hero—textbook answers comparison.

Textbook Answers Comparison

In this article, we’ve compiled a comparison of the three most popular learning platforms for students, their features, costs, pros and cons so that you can find the best textbook answer option for you. Following the brief comparison chart are the detailed reviews of the platforms.

We’ll start with Chegg . Hardly is there a student who has never heard about this online platform. Packed with services from textbook rentals to math solver to expert Q&A, it is quite renowned.

First of all, the platform offers book purchases and rentals. Secondly, Chegg’s Study packs provide a range of features to help students with their studies. Textbook Answers is a place to check your homework: search the book by an ISBN, browse by a chapter, and see if you got your answers right. Students can also use the Expert Q&A section to ask a question not covered in the textbooks. Experts take an average of 46 minutes to answer. Math Solver is quite outstanding, either. Next, there are Flashcards ; they are good for all types of studying where you need to memorize a lot of stuff. Last but not least, the platform updates information about internships and scholarships and provides financial advice to students.

You can sign up for free first and get limited access to certain functions:

Textbook Answers Comparison

If you decide to go on with the paid version, two subscription options are available:

Other services can also be purchased separately:

buy your books at the best price

How It Works

  • Go to Chegg and create/log in to your account.
  • Start using the service for free, then choose your plan: Chegg Study or Chegg Study Pack.
  • Get a lot of help with your studies.
  • Before you subscribe, you can test some features: Chegg Practice (up to 5 questions per month), Chegg Math Solver (3 answers a day), and Chegg Writing (a free 3-day trial).

Chegg is great as a study and revision tool, a comparison service, a place to get your books cheap, and overall as a platform for all things studying.

Among other things to consider before purchasing a Chegg study subscription is your approach to using its materials. Some schools don’t appreciate it if you just copy the answers and even consider it cheating , not without grounds, though. According to a Forbes survey that included 52 students from 19 colleges, only 4 said they’ve never cheated with the platform’s help. So keep in mind that there is a fine line between learning with the help of Chegg and just depending on it entirely. If you decide to try it, make sure you use it wisely.

Slader (Quizlet Explanations)

Slader used to offer textbook answers for millions of problems. But the brand transformed heavily during the last years. Would you like to know what happened to Slader ? Dearly loved by so many students, it has recently joined forces with Quizlet, and now Slader is becoming Quizlet Explanations .

“Starting June 17, 2021, all of Slader premium content, including expert textbook answers and the Q&A library, will be offered exclusively on Quizlet.com as Quizlet explanations.”

The news broke earlier this year, and the student community on Reddit has been devastated over this integration ever since.

Slader used to be free for high school students (the High School package) and provided access to textbook answers, expert-verified answers, and a Q&A section. It also offered 2 paid packages: High School+ ($4/month; $2/month for 6 months (+$12 upfront) and College ($8/month; $6/month for 4 months (+$24 upfront). Obviously, its free version was the most popular one, and for a reason.

Alas, now we have what we have. Gone are Slader’s remarkable explanations in math and science; gone are millions of questions answered in social sciences, literature, and languages. The platform’s free version had almost every single educational book’s question covered and dissected by experts.

Well, it makes no sense to be reminiscent of the past. Therefore, we’ll focus on the newborn Quizlet Explanations and its features.

  • The Quizlet Plus subscription offers all of the textbook answers previously offered on Slader, offline and ad-free studying, personalized study paths, and a few other useful features—all for $35.99/year (+ a free 7-day trial).
  • With Quizlet Explanations, you can solve tough problems by approaching them gradually and step by step. The platform offers answers in 64 subjects , written and verified by experts.
  • Available online, on the App Store , and on Googe Play .
  • Go to Quizlet and create/log in to your account.
  • Start with the free trial and then proceed to the Quizlet Plus subscription.
  • Search your book by an ISBN, or title, or author.
  • Find the answers and answers to your problems by subject, chapter, section, or exercise number.

Textbook Answers

Quizlet itself, as a study tool, requires a separate review. It’s ideal for everything that requires memorization, and its Review Flashcards are just fantastic (especially for foreign languages). However, this article’s goal is to highlight its Slader functionality; therefore, here are the pros and cons:

So, hail and farewell! Hail to Quizlet Explanations and farewell to Slader. Regardless of the cons we’ve covered, we think it’s a great learning tool and hope it will continue helping students with their studies.

Course Hero

The last popular platform we’ll review in this article is Course Hero .

  • Textbook Answers. The platform offers answers for more than 1,000 college textbooks in various subjects. Also, it offers comprehensive explanations to popular questions, verified by educators.
  • 24/7 Homework Help . Course Hero experts provide answers to student questions; average waiting time: 30 minutes.
  • Study Resources. Course Hero offers ~60 million study materials to students; among them are study guides, student class notes, essays submitted by other users, expert answers, and so much more.

Its unique feature is other students’ documents for the classes you’re taking at the moment. You basically get access to the papers written and materials already covered by other students in your subject.

Textbook Answers - Course Hero

Another useful feature is literature study guides and subject study guides . The latter group covers a range of subjects like social sciences, engineering, arts and humanities, and etc., and can be taken as mini-courses on related subjects.

literature study guides

You can register and use Course Hero for free by using their free access option. You have to comply with a few requirements to be able to do it:

  • 10 uploaded documents=5 free unlocks, OR
  • 10 uploaded documents=3 free tutor questions
  • 5 unlocks of your documents=1 free unlock
  • 5 thumbs-up to your documents=1 free unlock
  • 5 rated documents or 5 rated questions=1 free unlock
  • 5 reviewed documents=1 free unlock
  • 1 friend=8 free tutor questions, plus 20% off to this very friend for their future subscription.

Course Hero also offers several subscription plans with various levels of access to their materials:

  • Go to Course Hero and create/log in to your account.
  • Try the platform’s free-access experience by sharing your materials, rating the documents uploaded by other students, and contributing to the process. If you see that you need more materials and expert help, get a paid subscription.
  • Enjoy the learning process.

Available on the App Store and on Google Play , Course Hero is definitely a service to consider when you are looking for assistance in your studies.

As with Chegg, we recommend being wise about the way you use this platform. Apart from the cheating problems that may arise, Course Hero may have issues with copyrighted materials. Since users can upload their own documents, we warn you to be careful and not upload your professors’ lectures, or test answers for assignments that are not yet due, or any materials authored by anyone rather than yourself—avoid doing anything that may be considered copyright infringement . Use Course Hero as a tool to succeed in understanding your course materials and get better at your subject.

Now you know more about the major three textbook answers , you can make a more informed decision if you decide to get help with your academic problems. All these platforms have their pros and cons, and you need to consider what type of extra help you can get from each of them.

Taking into account their cost, this is not something an average student can afford easily. You don’t need to buy a subscription to all three; prioritize your requests first. Depending on your major, you may benefit from Chegg’s Math Solver more than from other features, or find Quizlet’s flashcards highly useful, or perhaps, Course Hero’s fellow papers on literature are what you need to understand the subject better.

All in all, we recommend that you should not simply rely on the answers you can easily get but use the textbook answer services wisely to enrich your knowledge, get a deeper understanding of subjects, and succeed in your studies.

Is essay writing service legal?

Essay writing services are legal if the company has passed a number of necessary checks and is licensed. This area is well developed and regularly monitored by serious services. 12 Best Chegg Alternatives 2024

As a student, you’ve probably heard of Chegg. It’s famous for helping many students find answers to questions, get homework assistance, and prepare for tests .

In addition to being able to browse previously asked questions, Chegg users can ask questions or even take a picture of a problem and upload it to the site for an expert to answer. Chegg also provides other resources to students, such as flashcards, a plagiarism checker , and cheap textbooks for rent.

There are several platforms like Chegg, namely Quizlet , Answers.com , and 24 Hour Answers . However the best Chegg alternative is Course Hero . Not only do you get plenty of study material and courses but Course Hero also offers expert assistance to your questions and assignments.

The need to explore Chegg alternatives

1. course hero, 3. stack exchange, 4. answers.com, 5. paul’s online math notes, 6. 24 hour answers, 7. bartleby, 8. r/domyhomeworkpaid (2.0), 9. tutor.com, 11. school solver, 12. studydaddy, wrapping it up: what is the best chegg alternative.

Chegg isn’t entirely free — you need a subscription to ask questions, and each subscription package only includes a certain amount of questions. After that, you’ll need to pay extra for additional questions.

Chegg Study costs $14.95/month (click here for updated pricing). That’s just out of the reach of many students who don’t have a source of income and are on a budget, especially since it doesn’t even let you ask unlimited questions.

In addition, many students are afraid to use Chegg because their professors frown upon it, thinking that it’s just a website for people who want to cheat.

In fact, professors have gotten pretty good at figuring out which students have used Chegg to cheat. Many professors have “secret” accounts on Chegg that they use to monitor questions similar to the ones they ask on their tests; they then see which students copied answers from Chegg.

It gets even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it). Professors can email Chegg about suspected cheating and violations of Chegg’s Code of Honor to find out if students have been using Chegg.

According to this Reddit thread on the r/professors subreddit, professors can conduct a “Code of Honor violation investigation.” They can receive information such as the username and email address of the student who uploaded a question, when the question was asked, the institution the student attends, and more.

Because some students use Chegg to cheat, many professors have banned their students from using Chegg entirely.

That’s why many students have been searching for alternatives that are not as well known, or not as pricey. Some of those alternatives are entirely free, so you won’t have to pay a monthly plan to ask questions and receive answers.

Finally, some great alternatives to Chegg that existed in the past were bought off by Chegg. For example, StudyBlue and Cramster were both acquired by Chegg.

If you don’t like Chegg’s attempt to monopolize the homework help industry, there are still other alternatives out there, as mentioned above.

Let’s find out more about them, but remember, regardless of why you’re looking for a Chegg alternative, you should never use them for cheating and only to aid in your studies.

Let’s get into it.

Best Chegg Alternatives

homework help quizlet

The best alternative to Chegg is Course Hero. It boasts over 60 million study materials.

Not only can you browse textbook problems and step-by-step solutions, but you can also ask a question yourself and get an answer in as little as 15 minutes.

It’s cheaper than Chegg — prices start at just $9.95 per month. While there is a free plan, you will have to pay per question, while a subscription gives you a certain amount of questions included per month.

Check this page for updated pricing.

Finding study materials is really easy. You can search by subject or school to find study materials most appropriate for the course you are taking.

You can also browse textbooks online — there are hundreds of textbooks in many subjects, such as biology, chemistry , and accounting. Likewise, you can find textbooks by title, author, or ISBN.

Course Hero is constantly adding new textbooks.

In addition to the textbooks, you can learn with expert-verified textbook solutions and explanations. You can also complete Course Hero exercises with hints and videos to practice your skills and learn new things .

Like Chegg, Course Hero allows you to ask questions and receive expert answers. However, you don’t need to pay to do it!

While premium plans will give you a set number of questions per month, you can also gain access to free questions by simply uploading study documents for others to enjoy or by referring friends.

homework help quizlet

Course Hero is extremely useful for test prep as well. You can browse exams and standardized tests on all levels, from high school tests to graduate school exams.

These tests allow you to practice for your upcoming exam, locate the areas you need to work on, and get a more rounded test prep.

Finally, Course Hero has a fantastic scholarship program that provides eligible students with a $5,000/year scholarship.

homework help quizlet

Quizlet is another awesome Chegg alternative for study aid, homework help, and reviewing your school coursework. It’s free to use, although there is a Quizlet Plus plan (more on that later).

Using Quizlet, you can:

  • Access a wide selection of free textbooks online
  • Browse questions on any topic and see expert explanations
  • Use flashcards to help guide your studies

You can organize your flashcards and notes into “study sets,” and you can take snapshots of your notes with your camera to add them to your sets. If you’d like to see recommended study materials, simply enter your school and course information, and Quizlet will show you the materials that are best for you.

homework help quizlet

With Quizlet Plus, you can generate custom study paths, create complex diagrams , learn step-by-step solutions, and a lot more. Quizlet Plus also lets you study offline using the mobile app.

Quizlet might be better than Chegg, since its free plan gives you access to most of the site, unlike Chegg. It’s best if you don’t need direct answers to your questions but just a place to browse or create flashcards for spaced repetition learning.

homework help quizlet

Stack Exchange is an excellent Chegg alternative if you’re looking for Q&A help. It’s one of the best places to go for answers on any topic, as there are over 170 sites and subdomains in the Stack Exchange network, each one dedicated to questions on a different topic.

There are a lot more topics than on Chegg, including simple topics like travel and advanced engineering topics.

For example, for answers to mathematical questions , you can go to math.stackexchange.com . You can either browse questions asked by others or ask your own question.

Unlike Chegg, you don’t need to pay any money to ask questions on Stack Exchange. However, do keep in mind that anyone can answer a question on Stack Exchange; you don’t need to be an expert to answer a question, and none of the questions are peer-reviewed.

In other words, take the answers with a grain of salt. Continue to do your own research and do not rely on them 100 percent.

However, people do get badges for providing answers that others find helpful. There are bronze, silver, and gold badges available; the more badges an expert has, the more likely their answer is to be correct and true.

For example, one particular badge is earned when an answer is bookmarked by 25 users. People also get badges and reputation points when users upvote their answers to questions.

Don’t confuse Stack Exchange with Stack Overflow. They are both parts of the same network, but Stack Overflow is a separate domain focused on programming Q&A.

Answers.com, or simply Answers, is a great alternative to Chegg. While it has a free plan that will be sufficient for many students, it has a premium plan, Answers+, which is a fraction of the price of Chegg Study.

There are a few plans available, starting at just $1.99/month (paid annually). Even if you pay monthly, pricing starts at just $9.99/month, and there are often flash sales where you can get any plan at 50 percent off.

homework help quizlet

Not only that, but with Answers+, you can ask unlimited questions! Answers.com promises to “run out of answers before you run out of questions.”

Chegg doesn’t let you ask unlimited questions on any plan, so you can save a lot of money by switching to Answers.com.

The downside of Answers.com is that anyone who is registered can answer questions. You earn points for answering questions, which incentivizes people to do so.

While that ensures you will get an answer quickly, it also means that you can’t take each answer at face value. Instead, continue doing your own research.

Before asking your own question, browse existing questions to see if someone asked it already.

Answers.com also has a pretty cool Math Solver tool . It is more than just a calculator; it breaks down each math solution for you and shows you how to solve it, step by step.

That way, you actually get to understand how to solve the problem instead of just memorizing the answer.

You may also find the Answers.com study guides helpful. The study guides group together common questions and answers on certain topics, so you can quickly patch up gaps in your knowledge.

Finally, download the mobile app if you would like to browse and ask questions while on the go.

If you need help with studying university-level math, Paul’s Online Math Notes will come in handy. While you can’t really ask questions on the site, the notes are designed to answer common questions that Paul’s students have.

Paul Dawkins, the site’s creator, is a math professor at Lamar University. However, he made the notes for students of all universities , not just for those learning in his classes.

Unlike Chegg, the site is entirely free to browse — you don’t even need to create an account to use it! It’s Paul’s personal project, and he wanted to make his notes and explanations available to all, free of charge.

Also, it focuses entirely on math, so you won’t get distracted with other topics like you might on Chegg.

In addition to notes, you can make use of the cheat sheets, assignment problems, and practice problems.

24 Hour Answers is one of the older Chegg alternatives. It’s been around since 2005. A chemistry professor founded it, so students can get micro tutoring on any subject, quickly and without paying exorbitant tutoring fees.

24 Hour Answers is not free, but you don’t have to pay a monthly subscription like you would have to if you used Chegg. Instead, after uploading your question, you will get a custom quote from a tutor.

That quote will be based on what the answering tutor deems appropriate for the question. Some questions are easier to answer than others and require less time.

Besides asking questions yourself, you can browse almost 25,000 answered questions that were asked by other students. To reveal an answer, you will have to pay a one-time fee; each answer will have a different price.

You can also find tutoring from experts at a set rate per hour. Tutoring isn’t always cheap, but these are real experts with advanced degrees, and you can find them quickly without committing to studying with the same tutor for months.

Bartleby is a homework help website that offers four main products:

  • Bartleby Learn
  • Bartleby Write
  • Bartleby Tutor

Bartleby Learn is very similar to Chegg, but it costs just $9.99/month, making it more affordable than Chegg Study. In addition, if you aren’t sure you want to commit to a full month, you can get your first week for just $4.99.

While it doesn’t include a proofreading tool like Chegg Study does, it’s an option to consider if you only need Q&A help.

With Bartleby Learn, you can ask up to 30 questions a month and browse the existing library of questions and answers. There are over five million textbook solutions and explanations in the Bartleby library.

However, you don’t need to sign up for Bartleby Learn to browse textbook answers. There is a nice selection of free answers as well.

Bartleby Write is for those who need help with their essays. It also costs $9.99/month, but you won’t actually get real humans writing your essays for you.

It’s just an online tool that uses AI to proofread and perfect your writing , check for plagiarism , and build citations.

Bartleby+ includes both Bartleby Learn and Bartleby Write, and it costs $14.99/month.

Finally, Bartleby Tutor lets you connect with tutors online and get one on one help . You don’t need to commit to lengthy contracts, and you even get a free 15-minute session when you first sign up.

On Chegg, you can get answers to questions, but you can’t get anyone to actually do your homework for you. The DoMyHomeworkPaid subreddit is a place where you can find and pay tutors to complete your homework assignments, essays, and more .

Here’s how it works: Browse the recent threads to find tutors who are offering their services.

Some will be physics experts, while others will be offering writing assistance. They’ll be giving you their contact information, so you can get in touch with them.

There is a list of banned scammers who have been reported by students.

Make sure to visit the 2.0 version of the subreddit (as linked above), as the original subreddit was restricted, and you can no longer post there.

Tutor.com is a first-class micro tutoring alternative to Chegg. It’s offered by The Princeton Review, a test prep company that offers tutoring, courses, books, and admissions resources.

However, Tutor.com isn’t just for test prep — it’s for students of all levels who need help with any subject.

The tutors at Tutor.com are the real deal. They are professors, Ivy League graduates, PhDs, and experts on a wide range of topics.

Finding a tutor is easy. Just select your subject and browse tutor profiles .

You’ll be able to read each tutor’s bio, see their education and degrees, and check the review rating they got from previous students. Then, you can send them a message with the topic you need help with and set up a session.

As a parent, you can use Tutor.com to find a professional mentor for your elementary school student.

After your first session with your tutor, you can request additional sessions — just bookmark a tutor if you like them. Alternatively, you can replay your tutoring session or read a transcript — that’s a great way to solidify your understanding of what your tutor taught you.

Tutor.com works 24/7, so it doesn’t matter what time zone you are in. However, there are four days a year on which the website is closed: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

I’d say that if you’d like expert one-on-one tutoring from a professional mentor online, Tutor.com is superior to Chegg. It works on a pay-as-you-go model, and you can browse tutors’ profiles before even signing up.

homework help quizlet

Quora is a superb alternative to Chegg simply because it’s free. You can ask as many questions as you want on any topic, including controversial topics, and receive expert answers.

However, I didn’t put Quora earlier on in this list because some answers are not accurate. You have to check the profile of the person who is answering your question to see what their background is and whether they are qualified to answer your question.

Since anyone on the internet can answer questions on Quora, do not take any answer at face value, especially if the answerer does not have a filled-out profile.

Also, be wary of those who provide answers simply to drive traffic to their blogs; often, they will copy and paste their blog posts and use them as answers.

On the flip side, you will often get multiple answers, from multiple people, on a single question. By comparing different answers, you can figure out which ones are accurate, and it also allows you to learn about different viewpoints and perspectives.

Finally, you can browse existing questions on Quora to see if your question has been answered already.

One other advantage to using Quora is that it supports multiple languages. So, if English is not your native tongue, simply choose the language you are most comfortable with, so experts can answer you in that language.

As you may have noticed, many Chegg alternatives have one of two disadvantages.

The free ones are great if you are on a budget, but you can’t always tell if the person answering the question is a true expert and knows what they are talking about. On the other hand, the sites with true experts usually cost more than what many students can afford.

School Solver supplies some middle ground. All the people answering the questions are experts, but they’re not the ones giving you quotes for their time.

Instead, you decide how much you are willing to pay when you post the question. An expert can then decide if it’s worth their time or not.

If it isn’t, they can simply move on to a question with a higher price tag. However, sooner or later, you are likely to get an expert who is willing to answer your question.

On School Solver, you’ll find students willing to pay $100 for an answer, others willing to pay $15, and others willing to pay just $1 or even $0.50. It’s truly up to you, but paying a few more dollars can help speed up the length of time it takes to get an answer.

Unlike Chegg, you don’t need to sign up for a monthly subscription. If you only have one question a month, it’s fabulous — you just pay per question.

homework help quizlet

The final Chegg alternative on this list is StudyDaddy. Unlike Chegg, there are no monthly commitments; instead, you pay per question.

Simply post a question on one of over 40 subjects. Tutors will be able to submit proposals and quotes, based on the prices they think are appropriate.

Browse the proposals and pick a tutor. Then, pay and wait for the tutor to answer the question.

The tutor will not get their money until the question has been answered. You are also free to ask for revisions if needed.

The #1 Chegg alternative is Course Hero. It is the most similar to Chegg in terms of the wide range of resources it supplies, from textbook solutions to real-time Q&A expert help.

Not only that, but by uploading study documents and referring friends, you can unlock free Q&As and get expert help without paying a thing.

Tom loves to write on technology, e-commerce & internet marketing. I started my first e-commerce company in college, designing and selling t-shirts for my campus bar crawl using print-on-demand. Having successfully established multiple 6 & 7-figure e-commerce businesses (in women’s fashion and hiking gear), I think I can share a tip or 2 to help you succeed.

Looking for something more advanced and urgent? Then opt-in for an advanced essay writer who’ll bring in more depth to your research and be able to fulfill the task within a limited period of time. In college, there are always assignments that are a bit more complicated and time-taking, even when it’s a common essay. Also, in search for an above-average essay writing quality, more means better, whereas content brought by a native English speaker is always a smarter choice. So, if your budget affords, go for one of the top 30 writers on our platform. The writing quality and finesse won’t disappoint you!

Premium essay writers

Essay writing help from a premium expert is something everyone has to try! It won’t be cheap but money isn’t the reason why students in the U.S. seek the services of premium writers. The main reason is that the writing quality premium writers produce is figuratively out of this world. An admission essay, for example, from a premium writer will definitely get you into any college despite the toughness of the competition. Coursework, for example, written by premium essay writers will help you secure a positive course grade and foster your GPA.
