Just hit that "Ask Expert Tutors" button and chillax. 7. You can have a 1:1 live chat session with the tutor and ask for a thorough step-by-step explanation of how to derive an answer. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy! 8. Oh, we know you have more problems to solve! Now, back to Step 1.

HOW TO USE AIR MATH HOMEWORK HELPER (WEB) TO THE FULL (AIR MATH: 101) 1. Fire up that laptop/desktop PC. 2. Stuck on your math homework / school assignment / test prep? It’s okay to be completely clueless. 3. First things first, go to the Chrome Web Store and download our AIR MATH Chrome extension. 4. All done? Now, go back to your geometry problem that you were stuck on, then right-click on your mouse. 5. You will see the AIR MATH extension show up on the menu. Click on it! 6. Crop the math question that you need to solve, and then click on the "Search" button that shows up. 7. Ta-da! There's your answer!

1. Prepare a math problem; any equation or word problem. Geometry? Algebra? Calculus? Just bring it on! 2. When you first open the AIR MATH app, the home screen will show you a camera screen. 3. Position your smartphone close to the problem and place the problem within the guideline, then snap! 4. Your problem wasn't scanned within the guideline? Don't you worry! After you photo scan your problem, you can adjust the guideline to crop the part that you need from the question. 5. Our AI tech will then auto-recognize the problem and come up with possible answers in seconds. It'll come up with different ways of solving the problem. Tap on each solution and choose the answer that best fits your need.

Sure thing! In order to use the photos that you already have, just give permission to use your Photo Library and you're all set! When you first enter the app, you will see the camera screen, and on the top middle part, you will see two icons; an image icon and a flash icon. Tap on the image icon on the left and you will be able to choose the pictures that you want to share from your Photo Library. Just remember, it has to be a math question or else AIR MATH Homework Helper won't recognize the picture!

For now, you can only upload one image at a time. This is because AIR MATH can recognize one problem at a time. It cannot recognize and solve multiple questions at the same time. For example, say you have a set of geometry questions that you need answers to, and you have taken photos of each question separately, then you must upload the photo one at a time. Uploading multiple math questions in one photo won't work either!

Once you take a photo and scan the problem you're having trouble with, AIR MATH will come up with possible solutions to your question. Look through each solution and see if any of it matches your need. If the solution is too difficult to understand or doesn't quite match your question, hit that "Ask Expert Tutors" button below the solutions. It may take up to five minutes before you're connected to a tutor. 1:1 live chat will be available once you're connected and you can ask the tutor if you have any questions regarding the problem. Once your tutor has given you an answer and you feel that the given solution is good enough, you can tap on the "End Chat" button to close the session. That's all there is! That wasn't so hard, was it?

Oh, so you still haven't heard? Our AIR MATH app is powered by AI and all answers are machine-learned. The math data that have been accumulated within the app enables AIR MATH to continuously evolve and develop - meaning, all answers to your math questions and problems are calculated and solved using our AI technology. Of course, the trustworthiness is guaranteed! Have faith, my friend!

A BIG YES! Our tutors are all certified tutors who have gone through a very strict screening, testing, and background check-ups. We also consistently do quality checks on their answers to the math problems that they give to our users. If you find any of their answers incorrect or inadequate, you can also rate them and report them to us and we will take necessary actions accordingly. So, don't you worry about a thing!

Basic Math Pre-Algebra: Arithmetic, proportional, integers, fractions, decimal numbers, powers, roots, factors, complex numbers Algebra: Linear equations/inequalities, quadratic equations/inequalities, logarithms, functions, graphing, polynomials Geometry: Plane/solid geometry, constructions, measurement formulas, formal proofs Precalculus: Identities, logarithmic functions, exponential functions, trigonometric functions, series and sequences, probability, statistics, limits, derivatives Trigonometry: Circular and periodic functions Calculus: Series, limits, derivatives, integration, differentiation Statistics: Combinations, permutation, factorials Discrete Mathematics Finite Mathematics Differential Equations Business Math BAAM! 😎

Yes, for sure! AIR MATH's AI recognition technology enables it to recognize not only the ordinary equations of various subjects but word problems as well. It will read your word problem and provide a few options of step-by-step solutions for you to choose from. Easy like a breeze!

Urr... Yes and no? You can photo scan your handwritten problem and ask for a solution to it, but if you mean if there is a handwriting feature to write out the question on the app directly, then it's a no. If we see that more and more users are asking for the said feature, we will definitely take it into consideration. That's a pinky promise.

Sadly, no. AIR MATH's tutor system does not allow a student to designate or reconnect to a certain tutor to solve your math problem. However, if we see a growing need for this, we will definitely take this into consideration.

Oh, yikes! I'm glad that you liked our tutor, but unfortunately, we do not give out personal information of the tutors, and so it's not possible to contact a specific tutor. But the good news is, that all other tutors are equally good at solving math problems! You may be connected to a random tutor, but all tutors that work with AIR MATH are certified, tested, and monitored constantly. You can trust them and ask any and every math questions you have. They'll give you a solution to your problem in a zap!

It's actually pretty simple. Just open the app, position your math problem that you need to solve within the guideline, then snap and tap to upload your question. It's okay if your problem was not photo scanned exactly within the guideline, because once you take a picture of it, you can later adjust and crop the math problem. Once you upload your math question, AIR MATH will come up with possible solutions to your problem in about 10 seconds. Now, wasn't that easy?.

No, no one but yourself can see the math questions that you have asked on AIR MATH... We do, however, accumulate all the math problems that all our users have asked so that our AI technology can use them as databases and become even faster when giving answers!

Well, that really depends. Our AIR MATH math homework helper/solver app itself only uses one system language: English. However, our tutors are from all across the globe and if you happen to use any of their languages, well, then that's up to you to decide if you want to use another language when asking for step-by-step solutions to your math problems from the tutors via live chat sessions. (We respect diversity!)

The Bookmarks feature enables you to literally "bookmark" any step-by-step solutions that you receive from AI regarding your math questions. Open AIR MATH, photo scan a problem that you're stuck with, then tap and upload. Wait for 10 seconds until you're given a step-by-step solution by AIR MATH AI. Once your answer is provided, you will see the "Bookmarks" icon at the top right corner along with the "Share" icon (second to far right). Tapping on the Bookmarks icon will add that answer in your Bookmarks tab. Later, when you want to go back to see this problem again, tap on the "History" tab on the bottom right corner, then you will see "Answers" and "Bookmarks" tabs. Go to the "Bookmarks" tab and you will see the step-by-step solutions to the math questions that you have added.

AIR MATH math homework helper/solver app is currently available both on iOS and Android. For iOS, any devices running on versions 14.4 and up can download and use the AIR MATH app. You can now also use AIR MATH on the web as well as a Chrome extension! We will be continuing to add support for new versions as well, so please stay tuned!

Tickets/ PASS

The ticket system is the actual key player of AIR MATH Homework Helper app that helps you get through with your math homework. There are three types of tickets on AIR MATH: Search tickets, Question tickets and Writing tickets. Search tickets are used for searching for answers to a math problem, and Question tickets are used for asking for more precise solutions to math problems to tutors. Writing tickets are used for supercharging your essay. The rule is simple: one ticket per one question or essay!

Yes, there is! Each ticket has its own expiration date, so please be sure to check it from the Ticket page! Tickets with earliest expiration dates will be used up first.

You can earn extra free tickets by inviting new friends to download and try out AIR MATH Homework Helper app. Once your friend downloads and enters your invitation code, free tickets will be given right away. That's not all! You'll be rewarded with free tickets if you check-in on a daily basis! Check out the Ticket page for more details!

First, enter the app, then open your Ticket page. You will see your Friend Invitation Code. Copy the code and share it with your friends. When your friends download the app and enter your invitation code when signing up, you will be automatically given a set of free tickets!

Not to worry! Being asked to retake a math question does not mean that you will have to use another question ticket. The question ticket that you have used up for your math problem (which you also need to retake a photo of) will be returned and you can use it for the retake!

Ticket refills are there to allow you to purchase extra question tickets when necessary. If you are already on a subscription, there's going to be a little benefit when purchasing a refill!

AIR MATH Pass is our subscription system which gives out unlimited search tickets and a set of question tickets. There are various options to your subscription period; from 1 month plan to 1 year plan! Come take a look at our subscription plans and select whichever that best suits your interest!

Oh, it's definitely going to be worth it. You won't have to worry about how many tickets you have left, because we will provide an ample amount for you to use during your subscription period! The AIR MATH Homework Helper PASS will enable you to access and use the service both on the web and on the mobile app! Life made easier! (Wink, wink!)

You can purchase the PASS from the My Tickets page within the AIR MATH Homework Helper mobile app! All products are purchasable through either Apple App Store or Google Play Store in-app purchase system.

You can check your purchase history or status from either Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

You can check for all things related to subscription cancellation, refund, and more from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Please take a screenshot of your purchase receipt and then send it to our Help Desk or <[email protected]>! We'll hand it over to our AIR MATH Help Center and try to figure out the problem and solution.

Please try contacting the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for any payment issues.

To change the payment method, you must access your app store and change the payment method that you have registered on it.

If you wish to change the subscription plan that you are currently on, you must first cancel the current subscription plan from your app store so that it does not recur on its next billing cycle. Then, you can choose another plan that you wish to use. Please note that the current subscription plan that you're on will last until your next billing cycle and your changed plan will apply from the next subscription term!

Tech issue / Troubleshooting

This may be because the type of question that you asked has not been asked before, therefore the question is not in our database as of yet. Please try the "Ask Expert Tutors" feature and ask for a step-by-step solution directly. If this is not about our AI not being able to recognize your problem, then please check to see if your AIR MATH app is running on the latest version and take a screenshot or a screen recording and send it to us via "Contact Us."

Oof! So sorry to hear that you're experiencing malfunctions with our app! In this case, please first check to see if your AIR MATH app is running on the latest version. Then, please take a screenshot or screen recording of the problem that you're experiencing and send it to us via "Contact Us." It'd be certainly helpful if you can describe the issue in detail (e.g. during what stage the app froze or tapping on a certain button caused a crash, etc.) so that our developers will know where to look into.

How-To Geek

How to solve math problems using google lens.

Having trouble with a math problem? Google Lens can solve it with just a photo.

A calculator is a handy tool for solving math problems, but it can sometimes be a pain to type the equation. Google Lens can solve a problem simply by taking a photo. We'll show you how to use the feature.

Android devices can access Google Lens in a couple of different ways, depending on your phone. However, the universal method that works for Android , iPhone , and iPad is through the Google app.

Of course, the first thing you'll need is a math problem to solve. Google Lens can solve simple equations such as "5+2" or more complex formulas such as "x 2  - 3x + 2." You can scan the problem from a real-world piece of paper or from a digital display.

Open the "Google" app on your  Android  phone or tablet, iPhone , or  iPad . Tap the "Lens" icon from the right side of the search bar.

Next, swipe over to "Homework" in the bottom toolbar.

Point your device's camera at the math problem you want to solve, making sure the problem is inside the frame. Tap the "Shutter" button.

First, double-check that the question at the top of the card is correct. You can tap "Steps to Solve" to see the steps that were taken to get to the solution. The solution is shown at the bottom.

To scan a different problem from the same photo, tap the "T" icon above the solution card.

Next, tap the next solution you'd like to solve.

The solution will appear in the card below again.

If the Google response is not adequate or it can't find a solution, you can pull up on the card to reveal the full Google Search results with solutions from other sources.

That's it! Hopefully, you'll be able to find solutions to all your problems.

9 Best Homework Help Websites

July 22, 2023

homework help with picture

When I was in high school, resources for extra homework help weren’t exactly abundant. If you were struggling with a Shakespeare sonnet, you could always run to the bookstore and pick up a CliffNotes guide. SparkNotes was also gaining in popularity. But these early homework help resources had limited catalogs and were focused primarily on literature. Today, I imagine students suffer from the opposite problem—having too many choices when it comes to homework help websites. When the options are seemingly endless, knowing what to look out for takes on an added importance. Below, I’ll go through a list of 9 stand-out homework help websites and briefly discuss what makes them worth a visit.

Homework Help Websites – The Basics

The best homework help websites do more than just spit out an answer to that tricky math problem. They actually help students learn the material. Common features of homework help websites are educational videos and lectures, practice tests and quizzes, study tools like flashcards, and Q&As with experts. Many sites offer features that allow students to ask specific questions and get real-time feedback. There are also a number of services that offer one-on-one tutoring. Some homework help sites are free, while others require a paid subscription.

1) Khan Academy

Khan Academy is an amazing resource for students of all ages. It’s free, and it really is an academy—it offers full courses in a wide array of subjects, from pre-K math to high school physics. The courses consist of readings, video lectures, practice exercises, and quizzes. The breadth of material is impressive. In math alone, I see course listings for Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Statistics, Multivariable calculus—you get the idea. Khan Academy also offers a wide variety of AP courses, state-specific curricula, test-prep programs, and life skill courses, like personal finance.

It’s important to note that Khan Academy isn’t a one-on-one tutoring platform. But because of their extensive library of material, the search function is especially powerful. Try it out. I did a search for argumentative essay help, and found a comprehensive guide to writing argumentative essays that was a part of a larger writing course.

Chegg is a paid homework help service. Unlike Khan Academy, Chegg isn’t built around specific courses. Rather, it offers a variety of homework-support resources. Among those resources are plagiarism and grammar checkers, a proofreading service, and a “math solver”, which allows students to enter a problem and get back both a solution and a detailed step-by-step explanation of how the problem was solved. Perhaps the most powerful tool Chegg offers is its “Expert Q&A” feature. This service allows students to take a picture of their homework problem, upload it to the site, and get a detailed response in return. Chegg’s emphasis on process and explanation make it a valuable educational resource for students—not just a way to get a quick answer.

Best Homework Help Websites (Continued)

Quizlet is a well-known and worthwhile study resource. It offers a variety of courses, and it also has an expert-response feature. But Quizlet’s best feature, in my option, is the flashcards tool. Students can create their own digital decks of cards and practice them on Quizlet—just like an old fashion set of index cards. I had a ton of success using Quizlet’s flash card feature to help me memorize words for my foreign language requirement in college. It’s a simple but powerful tool. Although often maligned as a learning method, rote rehearsal and spaced repetition are effective ways to encode information . Quizlet’s flashcard feature is a great way to put those techniques into practice.

4) Socratic

is an AI-powered homework support app that allows students to type or take pictures of questions and receive solutions right away. Since it works with AI, it relies on the web’s vast stores of accumulated knowledge—you’re not interacting with a human tutor. Nonetheless, I found it to be an extremely helpful tool. I tried it out first using a specific math problem. In just a few seconds I was provided with the solution and an explainer with relevant formulas, plus a graphic to help visualize the underlying logic. There were also suggested links to additional resources. For example, when I asked Socratic to explain how the German genitive case works, it suggested a YouTube video and a number of articles from blogs and other language-learning sites.

Since Socratic doesn’t feature courses or one-on-one tutoring support, I wouldn’t lean on it if I were really struggling in a particular class. But as a tool to check your work, make sure you’re on the right track, and become aware of additional resources, it’s worth a download.

5) Photomath

Photomath is, as you might have guessed, a site for math homework help. Like other homework help websites, Photomath allows students to take a picture of a problem and receive an instant, step-by-step solution. Included along with the solution is an explanation of relevant concepts and formulas, plus videos covering mathematical concepts. Photomath does offer a few basic courses, too. So if in addition to homework-specific help you want to brush up on the basics, they’ve got you covered in arithmetic, algebra, and calculus crash courses.

6) Studypool

Studypool is a paid homework support service that provides solutions to specific questions. Studypool offers support in all the major subjects, with a particular emphasis on science. Students can ask questions on everything from anatomy to physics. Like other services, students upload their exact questions or problems directly to the site. But Studypool’s payment model is a bit different: instead of paying for tutoring time or a monthly subscription, students pay for solutions to each question they submit. When a student submits a question, tutors submit bids to answer them. The student then can select which tutor/price option works best. After students select the price and tutor they want, they’re connected with the tutor and given the solution and explanation via messenger.

The draw of Studypool is that it gives students access to real (i.e., human) tutors who are experts in their field. The downside is that pricing isn’t transparent, and students pay per question.

7) College Info Geek

College Info Geek is the study-support website that I wish I knew about when I was in high school and college (they didn’t pay me to write that, I swear). The site focuses not on specific courses or questions, but on how to become a more effective learner. Here it’s all about “learning how to learn”—study tips, memorization and note-taking techniques, and much more. The articles are well-researched, clearly-communicated, practical, and comprehensive. For example, the article on how to improve your memory includes a breakdown of the different types of memory processes, memorization techniques, and even a discussion of how nutrition affects memory. College Info Geek is a great resource for everyone, not just high school and college students.

8) SparkNotes

Yes, Sparknotes made the list! The site offers lessons in a whole bunch of subjects—biology, chemistry, computer science, history, philosophy, math—but its specialty is literature. SparkNotes provides summaries and analyses of novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction, from The Canterbury Tales to Toni Morrison, Saul Bellow, and Junot Diaz. SparkNotes breaks down books into sub-sections and provides synopses and analyses for each section. There are also separate pages for character breakdowns, discussions of themes and motifs, and explanations of important quotes. I’d caution against using SparkNotes if you’re trying to “hack” a novel or poem and get simple answers about what it “means.” But as a way to supplement your own understanding and interpretation, it’s a great resource. Shmoop is also worth checking out for extra support in literature, poetry, mythology, and the history of literary movements.

9) Grammarly

I’m not sure if Grammarly is an obvious or unexpected choice to round out the list. Either way, it deserves a mention here. Grammarly is a writing tool. It checks and suggests corrections for incorrectly spelled words and misused punctuation. But Grammarly also scans and corrects for things like clarity and vocab usage. It flags sentences that are vague, or overly wordy, and alerts you if you’re using that flashy vocab word incorrectly. It even gives suggestions if it thinks your writing is a bit bland. I don’t see Grammarly as a crutch, but rather as a tool. It can help you master those pesky recurring grammar and usage issues. Always mix up effect and affect? Grammarly will continue to course correct until you’ve got it down yourself.

Homework Help Websites – Final Thoughts

None of the above homework help websites should be seen as a panacea. Each has benefits and drawbacks, strengths and weak points. The list is far from exhaustive. And the sites don’t have to be used in isolation. Try a few out, mix and match. College Info Geek is an excellent supplement to any study regimen. Socratic can be used as a tool to check answers for math homework, and at the same time you can use Grammarly to describe your problem to a tutor on Chegg. At their best, these sites are more than quick fixes to stubborn homework problems—they’re aids to genuine learning.

Ratings and Reviews

50.6K Ratings

The other reviews aren't kidding. Don't waste your time with this app.

Let's get straight to the point: this app is useless without spending $20 something every 3 months. Don't take my word for it: there are countless other reviews mentioning this as well. When you first open the app, guess what? It immediately wants you to allow camera access (makes sense) and notifications (which doesn't make sense, why would a math app need to spam my notifications?), then it asks you to sign up for their subscription. I, like most people, ignored it and clicked the X. The next thing I did was scan a problem. Guess what? You can't get the answer or steps without paying! You read that correctly, you have to buy their subscription to even get access to the answer! What's the point of a calculator if it doesn't even give you the answer?? Imagine if your physical calculator (or calculator app on your phone) said something like "Please pay $9.99 to get access to the answer." This is basically what this app is. Yes, there is a free trial, but you gotta remember to cancel it immediately so it doesn't charge your card. It's just not worth it. Don't waste your time. TL;DR, app wants money to solve math questions, which defeats the whole point of it being free.

Don’t waste your time on this lousy “calculator”

I was looking for a better calculator that actually shows the steps of a problem without having to spend money. I used this app literally for 5 minutes (I’m not kidding) to put in one problem. Guess what happens, they didn’t even show me the answer. It was blurred. That’s right, the answer was blurred. Not the steps, the ANSWER. Maybe because it was a trigonometry equation (studying for final exam) so I put in a different equation, a simple algebra equation. NOT EVEN A SIMPLE EQUATION WITH ONE VARIABLE HAD AN ANSWER. WHAT THE HECKING HECK. The point of a calculator is to give you the answer, even a calculator from dollar tree can give me an answer. But this FREE app won’t even give you the ANSWER. I don’t mind not having the equation worked out for me, but cmon give me the answer. This app is basically a calculator that has no point. What kind of calculator doesn’t give you the answer? I still use photomath because it still shows me the process without having to spend money. Although to understand the process as to WHY, that’s when it costs money. But don’t waste your time on this app. It’s pointless.

They only want money!

I got this app because I had a frustrating problem and needing help. All the reviews said awful things, and I thought they were over exaggerating. THEY WERE NOT! the first thing that happened after I downloaded the app was it asked me for money. 20 something dollars a month. That’s insane. I ignored it and clicked the x. After I clicked my picture, guess what happened, they asked again for money!! Good people and apps who want to help should be for free. I truly recommend to anyone who’s reading this, find any other app to help, or ask a non crazy adult or friend. I couldn’t even get into it, but if you are willing to pay that, I hope it’s better then the outside of it. I don’t know if there are ads, but that would make it over the top awful. Thank you for reading this and I hope my opinion helped your decision.

body-homework-chalkboard

Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help websites–free and paid. We’ll go over:

  • The basics of homework help websites
  • The cost of homework help websites
  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help
  • The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using online homework help
  • Tips for getting the most out of a homework help website

So let’s get started!

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)
  • Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want
  • Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

body-studtypool-logo

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

body_stophand

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

Can’t Find Eclipse Glasses? Here’s What to Do.

You can watch a projection of the eclipse using some common household items.

  • Share full article

Two people kneel near an open cardboard box that they’ve fashioned into a projector for viewing an eclipse.

By Katrina Miller

Follow our live updates on the total solar eclipse .

Reliable paper-framed glasses are by far the most popular option for safely watching the total solar eclipse on Monday. But they’ve gotten more difficult to find in some places ahead of the event.

If you’ve checked everywhere — your local planetarium, public library and even online — fear not: There is still a way to watch the eclipse safely, using items around the house. Here are a few options.

Use your hands

Palms up, position one hand over the other at a 90-degree angle. Open your fingers slightly in a waffle pattern, and allow sunlight to stream through the spaces onto the ground, or another surface. During the eclipse, you will see a projection of the moon obscuring the surface of the sun.

This method works with anything with holes, such as a straw hat, a strainer, a cheese grater or even a perforated spoon. You will also notice this effect when light from the partially eclipsed sun streams through leaves on a tree.

Set up a cardstock screen

For this option, you need a couple of white index cards or two sheets of cardstock paper. First, punch a small hole in the middle of one of the cards using a thumbtack or a pin.

Then, facing away from the sun, allow light to stream through this pinhole. Position the second card underneath to function as a screen. Adjust the spacing between the two cards to make the projection of the sun larger or smaller.

Make a box projector

If you’re up for a bit of crafting, you can make a more sophisticated pinhole projector . Start with a cardboard box — empty cereal boxes are often used, but you can use a larger box, too. You’ll also need scissors, white paper, tape, aluminum foil and a pin or thumbtack.

Cut the piece of paper to fit the inside bottom of the cardboard box to act as a screen. Use tape to hold it in place.

On the top of the box, cut two rectangular holes on either side. (The middle should be left intact — you can use tape to secure this if needed.)

Tape a piece of aluminum foil over one of the rectangular cutouts. Punch a tiny hole in the middle of the foil with the tack or pin. The other cutout will serve as a view hole.

With your back to the sun, position the foil side of the box over your shoulder, letting light stream through the pinhole. An image of the sun will project onto the screen at the bottom of the box, which you can see through the view hole. A bigger box will create a bigger image.

Enjoy the show through any of these makeshift pinholes. And remember, during totality, you can view the sun directly with your naked eye. But you should stop looking at the sun as soon as it reappears.

Poland’s kids rejoice over new rules against homework. Teachers and parents aren’t so sure

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Ola Kozak is celebrating. The 11-year-old, who loves music and drawing, expects to have more free time for her hobbies after Poland’s government ordered strict limits on the amount of homework in the lower grades.

“I am happy,” said the fifth grader, who lives in a Warsaw suburb with her parents and younger siblings. The lilac-colored walls in her bedroom are covered in her art, and on her desk she keeps a framed picture she drew of Kurt Cobain.

“Most people in my class in the morning would copy the work off someone who had done the homework or would copy it from the internet. So it didn’t make sense,” she said.

The government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk enacted the ban against required homework this month amid a broad discussion about the need to modernize Poland’s education system, which critics say puts too much emphasis on rote learning and homework, and not enough on critical thinking and creativity.

Under the decree, teachers are no longer to give required homework to kids in the first to third grades. In grades four to eight, homework is now optional and doesn’t count towards a grade.

Not everyone likes the change – and even Ola’s parents are divided.

“If there is something that will make students enjoy school more, then it will probably be good both for the students and for the school,” said her father, Pawel Kozak.

His wife, Magda Kozak, was skeptical. “I am not pleased, because (homework) is a way to consolidate what was learned,” she said. “It helps stay on top of what the child has really learned and what’s going on at school.”

(Ola’s brother Julian, a third grader, says he sees both sides.)

Debates over the proper amount of homework are common around the globe. While some studies have shown little benefit to homework for young learners, other experts say it can help them learn how to develop study habits and academic concepts.

Poland’s educational system has undergone a number of controversial overhauls. Almost every new government has tried to make changes — something many teachers and parents say has left them confused and discouraged. For example, after communism was thrown off, middle schools were introduced. Then under the last government, the previous system was brought back. More controversy came in recent years when ultra-conservative views were pushed in new textbooks.

For years, teachers have been fleeing the system due to low wages and political pressure. The current government is trying to increase teacher salaries and has promised other changes that teachers approve of.

But Sławomir Broniarz, the head of the Polish Teachers’ Union, said that while he recognized the need to ease burdens on students, the new homework rules are another case of change imposed from above without adequate consultation with educators.

“In general, the teachers think that this happened too quickly, too hastily,” he said.

He argued that removing homework could widen the educational gaps between kids who have strong support at home and those from poorer families with less support and lower expectations. Instead, he urged wider changes to the entire curriculum.

The homework rules gained impetus in the runup to parliamentary elections last year, when a 14-year-old boy, Maciek Matuszewski, stood up at a campaign rally and told Tusk before a national audience that children “had no time to rest.” The boy said their rights were being violated with so much homework on weekends and so many tests on Mondays.

Tusk has since featured Matuszewski in social media videos and made him the face of the sudden change.

Education Minister Barbara Nowacka said she was prompted by research on children’s mental health. Of the various stresses children face, she said, “the one that could be removed fastest was the burden of homework.”

Pasi Sahlberg, a prominent Finnish educator and author, said the value of homework depends on what it is and how it is linked to overall learning. The need for homework can be “very individual and contextual.”

“We need to trust our teachers to decide what is good for each child,” Sahlberg said.

In South Korea, homework limits were set for elementary schools in 2017 amid concerns that kids were under too much pressure. However, teenagers in the education-obsessed country often cram long into the night and get tutoring to meet the requirements of demanding school and university admission tests.

In the U.S., teachers and parents decide for themselves how much homework to assign. Some elementary schools have done away with homework entirely to give children more time to play, participate in activities and spend time with families.

A guideline circulated by teachers unions in the U.S. recommends about 10 minutes of homework per grade. So, 10 minutes in first grade, 20 minutes in second grade and so on.

The COVID-19 pandemic and a crisis around youth mental health have complicated debates around homework. In the U.S., extended school closures in some places were accompanied by steep losses in learning , which were often addressed with tutoring and other interventions paid for with federal pandemic relief money. At the same time, increased attention to student wellbeing led some teachers to consider alternate approaches including reduced or optional homework.

It’s important for children to learn that mastering something “usually requires practice, a lot of practice,” said Sahlberg, in Finland. If reducing homework leads kids and parents to think school expectations for excellence will be lowered, “things will go wrong.”

AP writers Jan M. Olsen in Copenhagen, Denmark, Michael Melia in Hartford, Connecticut, and Hyung-jin Kim in Seoul, South Korea, contributed.

The internet is having a blast with these photos of Melania Trump looking peeved at a fundraiser

Some commented that melania looked like a hostage at trump's side, during an event in a billionaire investor's home, by kelly mcclure.

On Saturday, Melania Trump made a rare appearance, joining husband Donald Trump at a fundraiser in Palm Beach held at the home of billionaire investor John Paulson; and people are having a lot of fun with the resulting photos.

Absent at a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, where she was to be honored with a "Child Advocacy Award" — which Trump accepted on her behalf — her decision to show up for the event the following day prompted some to weigh-in with observations that she appeared less than thrilled about it, as though she was "checking the clock."

"Melania looks like she’s in a hostage video tonight. Blink twice if you need help," writes Ron Filipkowski, Editor-in Chief of MTN, in a post to X (formerly Twitter) along with a clip from the fundraiser.

"Melania Trump looks thrilled as ever to be with Donald Trump at his fundraiser in Florida last night," writes Mike Sington, Senior Executive at NBCUniversal, in a post of his own to social media, sharing a photo of the Trumps from the event.

According to ABC News , Saturday's fundraiser was one of only two public appearances made by Melania on Trump's campaign trail this election year, but it seems to have paid off, raking in over $50 million for the Trump campaign.

"It took three Democrat presidents to raise $25 million and one president to raise over $50 million, Donald J. Trump," Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez said in a statement.

Where Are O.J. Simpson’s Kids Now? What to Know About Arnelle, Jason, Sydney and Justin

O.J. Simpson was a father to five children before his death on April 10

Rebecca Aizin is an Editorial Assistant at PEOPLE. She has been working at PEOPLE since 2023. Her work has previously appeared on Elle, HGTV and Backstage.

O.J. Simpson was a father of five before his death at the age of 76 .

The former NFL player shared three children, Arnelle, Jason and Aaren, with his first wife, Marguerite Whitley, and welcomed two kids, Sydney and Justin, with his second wife Nicole Brown Simpson . Aaren died a month before her 2nd birthday after drowning in the family swimming pool.

Simpson's family was thrust into the spotlight after the murder of Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in June 1994. Simpson was detained days later and an 11-month trial commenced that was dubbed "The Trial of the Century" by many legal experts. On Oct. 3, 1995, 100 million people in the U.S. alone watched as Simpson was acquitted on both counts of murder.

On April 10, 2024, Simpson died at 76 years old from cancer. His family announced the news on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account in a statement.

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," they wrote.

Here’s everything to know about O.J. Simpson’s five children: Sydney, Justin, Arnelle, Jason and Aaren.

Arnelle Simpson, 55

Alexander Tamargo/Getty

Simpson’s eldest daughter was born on Dec. 4, 1968, when the football player was 21 years old. Arnelle testified at his 1994 trial where he was accused of murdering his second wife, Nicole. She claimed that her father was "emotional," "distraught" and "out of control" when he learned of her death, per CNN.

Arnelle remained a vocal supporter of her father, speaking out again during his 2017 parole hearing following his jail sentence for a 2007 armed robbery at a Las Vegas hotel. At the time, she asked that her dad be released so her family could “move forward.”

"As a family, we recognize he's not the perfect man, but as a man and a father he has done his best to behave in a way that speaks to his overall nature and character,” she said, after describing him as her “best friend,” per CBS .

Jason Simpson, 53

Simpson and Whitley’s second child, Jason, was born in 1970. Jason was by his dad’s side during important moments of his career, including when he was inducted into the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame in Rich Stadium in 1980.

He also attended the premiere of Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult alongside his father, Nicole and two younger siblings three months before Nicole’s murder.

After the infamous police chase where the authorities were tailing a white Ford Bronco containing Simpson and his friend and former teammate Al Cowlings, Jason met his father at his Brentwood home and tried to speak to him. Jason was handcuffed by the police at the time and led back into the house.

Per the Los Angeles Times , as of 2016, Jason was living a private life as a chef at an Atlanta restaurant, St. Cecilia.

Aaren Simpson

Simpson and Whitley welcomed their third chid, daughter Aaren, in 1977. Just one month shy of her 2nd birthday, Aaren tragically drowned in a pool. Simpson rarely discussed the incident in public.

Sydney Brooke Simpson, 38

Sydney, O.J. and Nicole’s first child together, was born on Oct. 17, 1985. She was only 8 years old when her mom died, and was helped raised by her aunt and Nicole’s sister, Tanya Brown, after Nicole’s death.

Sydney and Justin moved to Florida in 2000, six years after their mom’s death, and have lived in relative anonymity since. Sydney graduated from Boston University in 2010 with a degree in sociology and spent time in Atlanta before she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida.

As of April 2016, Sydney works in real estate as an owner of multiple properties in Florida that she oversees, per the Tampa Bay Times .

That same year, in February 2016, Sydney and her brother Justin attended the wedding of their cousin , Sean Brown, who is Nicole’s sister Denise Brown's son, in Newport Coast, California. They were photographed at the ceremony as he wed Laguna Beach ‘s Casey Reinhardt.

O.J.’s youngest child, Justin, was born on Aug. 6, 1988. He was 5 years old when his mom was murdered outside the house as he slept.

Like his sister, Justin works in real estate and, as of 2016, was employed by Coldwell Banker. He is an agent based in St. Petersburg, telling the Tampa Bay Times , "It's a great place to live, why not St. Pete? It’s gorgeous here.”

In February 2022, Justin announced on his Instagram that he was expecting a child with his partner, a baby girl they named Lana.

“We are extremely excited, scared, nervous and in love ❤️ ❤️ ❤️,” he captioned the post. “In only a few short months we will be welcoming little Lana and can’t wait for you to meet her!”
