What is MyMaths?

MyMaths is an interactive online school subscription with lesson plans and homework service from Oxford University Press, designed to promote pupil engagement and develop primary maths and secondary maths knowledge . 

MyMaths provides complete curriculum coverage for mathematics across all key stages, including Key Stage 2 to GCSEs and A-Level. The time-saving resources include course materials that support teachers in delivering a range of curricula, including the National Curriculum (Eng), Curriculum for Wales and Class MyMaths. 

MyMaths acts as a vital link between school and home, empowering parents to keep an eye and support their child's progress , and improve their fluency in maths. It is a suitable for children of all abilities at school and home. 

MyMaths offers a range of resources , including a wide range of customizable lesson plans , homework activities, games, videos and assessments. The content is organised into different subject areas such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, probability, calculus, linear algebra, number theory, data analysis, programming and much more.

MyMaths uses pedagogical principles to deliver its lessons. This means that each lesson is structured to teach students through a series of activities rather than just reading text. Students learn by doing, and teachers use MyMaths to guide students through the learning process. Teachers can also set up customised lessons using the MyMaths app.

Over four million students use it each year in over 70 countries. MyMaths found, based on interviews with teachers, that the resources saved between 15 minutes to 5 hours a week for teachers , with the average at 2 hours—reducing the teacher workload .

How MyMaths Benefits Primary and Secondary Schools

MyMaths operates a subscription-based model, where schools purchase subscriptions to access the service. Students can log into the website using their school account, and teachers can create student accounts to monitor progress and grades.

The subscription cost is £370 +VAT per annum for a primary school, while the secondary school subscription is £650 +VAT per annum.

The Teacher Dashboard, a powerful management system teachers can use to get a real-time overview of their students' performance. Teachers can quickly identify which students need extra help, and then tailor their teaching accordingly.

The dashboard also lets teachers keep track of individual students' progress, monitor their progress towards reaching their learning goals , and allocate specific curriculum matching work.

They can also leave comments to encourage students to stay motivated and engaged in their studies.

MyMaths offers an array of features to work with a range of students to enhance the overall classroom experience. MyMaths allows teachers to spend more time on interventions, individualized teaching and other tasks.

Parents Can Help Their Children at Home

As a parent, you can check your child’s homework progress when they log in from home. This means that you can see if they are having difficulty with a particular concept, or if they are making steady progress.

Your child can access all lesson content and activities within MyMaths using their tablet or mobile device. They can complete lessons and activities at their own pace, and then view their results immediately afterwards.

When your child completes an activity, they receive immediate feedback on whether they got it right or wrong. If they did well, they can choose to repeat the activity again, or move onto another lesson. If they didn’t do so well, they can review the activity and try again.

If your child needs extra support, they can contact their teacher directly via the chat function. The teacher can then give them additional help.

Accessing MyMaths

To access the MyMaths website on an iPad, you will need to download the free Puffin Academy app. Android tablets and mobile devices are also compatible with MyMaths.

Is MyMaths free?

MyMaths is available to students whose schools have a paid subscription to MyMaths. Schools can evaluate the MyMaths service – either Primary Schools version or the Secondary school version – for a short duration for free.

What is the difference between MyMaths and MyiMaths?

MyiMaths is a completely free, interactive maths resource that allows teachers to deliver the same high quality teaching materials as MyMaths, but in a way that is tailored to the needs of international students. It includes a range of activities, games, videos and animations that are relevant to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A level, whereas MyMaths largely incorporates the British Curriculum .

Can I use MyMaths outside of the UK?

Yes! MyiMaths has been designed specifically for international schools following a non-British curriculum.

Is there an app for MyMaths?

There isn't an app for MyMaths. However, the MyMaths service can be used on tablets (like iPad) and mobile devices through the browser (Chrome, preferred).

How can a parent whose child's school does not use MyMaths benefit from MyMaths?

MyMaths offers a wealth of downloadable worksheets that parents can use it home, even their child's school does not subscribe to MyMaths. You can download them at the OxfordOwl website.

Parents and carers also benefit from a dedicated support site that provides information about how to get started, what resources are available and how to make the most out of MyMaths.

Does MyMaths offer any other resources?

Yes! MyMaths provides several useful tools for teachers, including: a dedicated support site , curriculum selector, primary curriculum support, secondary curriculum support, webinars, remote teaching support, Teacher Dashboard, reporting and results, and more.

There are many resources available to teachers working with EYFS , Primary and Secondary school students. MyMaths is a great platform for teachers who want to provide engaging mathematical learning experiences for their students.

MyMaths is an online maths tool designed to help students learn their basic mathematical concepts. It also allows teachers to assess student understanding at different stages of the lesson. Teacher help

There are two reasons that you would not be able to access your Assessment Manager. Please check with your school’s designated contact that the password has not been changed, and ensure that your subscription has not expired before contacting our customer services team.

By going to the results screen for your class and clicking on the specific homework task you require, you can edit the results for your students. Simply enter “0” into the scores for Q1 and Q2, and click ‘Save’. This will effectively reset the results for this task, allowing for a clean slate.

You can use the transfer students button to move or copy students to a new or existing class.

Select “Transfer students” in the Admin section of the Assessment Manager. You then just need to select the students you would like to transfer, choose whether to create a new class or add them to an existing one.

If you just want to move your student to another class, choose to move them, with or without any uncompleted allocations. If you want your student to be a member of two classes, choose to copy them to the other class.

When you first enter the Results screen, the “Only show allocated work” filter on the left hand side is selected by default. To view all of your students’ results, deselect “Only show allocated work” and click “Apply filter”. This will show the results for all the tasks that your students have completed. You can also download this as a spreadsheet.

On the Results screen for the class, you can use the “Include work not done yet” button to see all the work that is outstanding. You can also download this as a spreadsheet.

If a student is only in one class, all of their allocations will appear on the individual allocation screen. You can see which tasks are outstanding using the “completed” column.

If a student is in more than one class, you will need to view their allocations for each class in turn.

You can view the individual question marks and number of attempts on the “Allocation” modal.

It is not possible to edit the number of attempts.

The APP grids were specifically designed around official APP criteria. APP is no longer (officially) in use so we have removed these grids. To gauge progress, you can use the new class results grid. This is very flexible as there are filters on the left that let you drill down to the specific level or area you are interested in. You can then download the spreadsheet for this selection to do any analysis you require. If you want an overview across all levels you can use the Summary tab.

We have replaced all of the specific spreadsheets and reports we previously had with a more flexible class results grid that lets you hone in on exactly the results you want.

You can use the filters on the left to choose a particular level, Booster Pack, A level module or GCSE Statistics. You can then download the spreadsheet for this selection to do any analysis you require.

There is no longer a distinction between “classes” and “revision classes” so you create revision classes in the same way as your other classes.

Once you have created a new class, you can add students to it from your other classes and they will be present in both.

When a student rates their work they can choose from one of the smileys. Students will have their own interpretations of what these mean!

You can delete tasks in the Allocation screen to keep your list under control. The results for these tasks will still be available in the Results screen. Deselect “Only show allocated work” on the left hand side to see them.

Help for students

When you go to the MyMaths website you will need to log in using your school username and password. You will then see some more boxes labelled ‘My Portal’ where you can put in your personal username and password. In here you should see your homework on the first screen you come to. If you can’t see it, then make sure you are on your homework page by clicking the ‘My Homework’ tab on the left hand side of the page.

MyMaths is used completely online, so you don’t need any special computer equipment or software to use it. All you need is an Internet connection and a web browser like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome. To make sure it works correctly you should also check that you have updated your web browser (for Internet Explorer please make sure it is version 10 or above) and that you have installed an up-to-date version of Flash. You can also use Android tablets and mobile devices for MyMaths, but if you are using an iPad then you will need to download the free Puffin Academy app in order to access the MyMaths website.

Help for parents

When you go to the MyMaths homepage you will need to log in using your child’s school username and password. You will then see some more boxes labelled ‘My Portal’ where you can put in your child’s username and password. In here you should see your child’s homework on the first screen you come to. If you can’t see it, then make sure you are on your homework page by clicking the ‘My Homework’ tab on the left hand side of the page.

As MyMaths is a fully online resource you will need nothing but an Internet connection and an up-to-date web browser with inbuilt Flash, or a recent version of Flash installed on your computer. MyMaths supports all the major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, but please make sure your Chrome or Firefox browsers are up-to-date and your Internet Explorer is version 10 or higher. Most Android tablets and mobile devices should be able to access the website using the Chrome or Firefox browser apps (among others), but users of the iPad and other Apple devices will have to use the free Puffin Academy app. We understand it’s important for MyMaths to work on a range of tablet devices, including iPads.

Logging in to MyMaths

Click on Log in in the top right hand of the screen and enter your school’s login details .

After logging in to your school MyMaths account, you can log in to My Portal from the top right of the screen using your personal username and password.

If you don’t know what your school or portal login details are, please talk to your teacher.
