Presentation Academy

Louisville’s original Catholic school, Presentation Academy is a college preparatory academy for young women. Made up of tomorrow’s influencers and leaders, we are a sisterhood who welcomes students from all backgrounds. With diversity at our core, inclusivity and individuality aren’t only encouraged, they’re necessary .

be a leader

Leadership skill development is an integral piece of Presentation’s curriculum, and it begins freshman year. Students lead clubs, events, retreats and service activities, as well as the Seventh and Eighth Grade Leadership Forums for area grade schoolers. Students hear from guest speakers throughout the year, and they are strongly encouraged to job shadow.

“I never understood what people meant when they asked me if it felt like home after I shadowed a new high school until I came to Pres. It instantly felt like a home – from the welcoming, strong, kind, independent girls to the amazing staff here at Presentation. Pres made it possible for me to feel like I belong, yet stand out and thrive at the same time.” – Lauren Schreck ‘25

be creative

Forget the cookie cutter. At Presentation, we are about breaking the mold. We work hard to create an atmosphere where you can be yourself and truly be creative in the classroom, art studio, dance studio, theatre, music room, Idea Space, and computer and science labs. Our Senior Independent Program gives seniors the opportunity to create their own class and explore their passions while receiving credit for it.

be prepared

Presentation students can begin their college careers early by walking next door and taking college courses at our next-door neighbor, Spalding University, or logging on to online courses through Jefferson Community and Technical College. We also offer both dual credit and Advanced Placement courses with our Pres teachers.

With the many clubs, athletic opportunities, and high-level curriculum and the city of Louisville literally at their feet, my girls have found their voice, have become well-rounded, and have flourished! The feeling of sisterhood, acceptance and family is just as strong today for them as it was 30-plus years ago for me. From the first day they walked up the front steps, to their last day when they will sign their names next mine on the Tower wall, I know that this diverse community and family setting will have molded my girls into strong, compassionate, independent women! I have no doubt that my girls will leave Pres prepared for their next level of education and success in life. We are all one sisterhood at Pres where EVERYONE belongs!” – Jennifer Potter Abell ’91

It’s an environment where everyone knows your name and you are accepted. Our 8:1 student to teacher ratio means students who excel are further challenged and students who need extra help receive individualized attention.

be involved

From scoring the winning goal to planning a Walk-a-thon pep rally for Student Council, students are encouraged to be involved and to have a rich and fulfilling student life filled with a variety of experiences that help them grow and develop to their fullest potential. With 15 varsity-level sports, active theatre and music departments, and numerous clubs, there is more than one “something” for every Pres Girl. In fact, 65 percent of our students play at least one sport and, of those, 30 percent play two or more.

I graduated from Pres in 1966. It was a terrific school then and has continued to be a terrific school now. The teachers are always willing to help a student understand the material being taught and expect the students to give their best. Many scholarships are awarded to the students each year to many well known universities. I would not trade my experience at Pres for anything. Best experience of my life. -LS

Excellent school with a focus on social justice and building confidence in young women. Very accepting of LGBTQ students. Great extra curriculars. -Ly F.

Star Academy is the product of New Orleans-based NOLA Education. The program’s history goes back to 2004, when a team of education experts and researchers in South Carolina designed a program to advance students held back at least one year, re-engage them in their learning, expose them to career options and improve attendance, discipline and social skills.

The program was so successful that it has spread to 14 states, with over 70 Star Academy locations having served over 20,000 students.

Built by educators, for educators

The NOLA Education executive team and staff is heavily weighted towards professionals who have spent many years as educators and curriculum experts, with a deep understanding of the challenges posed in keeping disengaged students from falling through the cracks. Only time spent in the classroom, particularly in schools serving the underserved, can impart this kind of experience. It shows every day in the deep knowledge and dedication of the people you see below.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Will Answer All Lingering Fan Questions, Reveals Star

The Umbrella Academy star Justin H. Min recently revealed that all fan questions will be answered in the upcoming fourth and final season of the Netflix series.

In an interview with Collider , Hin — who portrays Ben Hargreeves in the series — confirmed that production on The Umbrella Academy Season 4 had wrapped last year. He also shared that the writers knew ahead of time that Season 4 would be the final season, meaning that the series would not end with any unresolved storylines.

“We filmed the final season last year, the first half of last year. It was incredibly emotional, but we were just so thankful to have the opportunity to sort of close out the story,” Hin said. “So many shows, unfortunately, get prematurely canceled, but we knew going in this was gonna be our final season, so our writers and our showrunner had the opportunity to wrap up all the storylines.”

The actor added that while he would “probably be killed” if he revealed anything about the final season, he felt comfortable enough to tease that “a lot of questions that have been brewing throughout the seasons of the show” will finally “get answered in this final season.” He continued, “I think there’s a real sense of closure, so I’m excited for the fans who’ve been waiting for certain answers to get those.”

What is The Umbrella Academy about?

Based on Dark Horse's comic series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, The Umbrella Academy premiered on Netflix in February 2019. Besides Hin, the main cast includes Elliot Page as Viktor Hargreeves, Tom Hooper as Luther Hargreeves, David Castañeda as Diego Hargreeves, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison Hargreeves, Robert Sheehan as Klaus Hargreeves, Aidan Gallagher as Five Hargreeves, Ritu Arya as Lila Pitts, and Colm Feore as Sir Reginald Hargreeves.

While Hin didn’t divulge any plot details for The Umbrella Academy Season 4, it seems likely that the final run of episodes will continue from the twist ending featured at the end of the third season, which saw the Hargreeves siblings finding themselves in an alternate timeline where they no longer have superpowers.

The first three seasons of The Umbrella Academy are currently available to stream on Netflix, with the fourth season set to debut on August 8, 2024 .

Cries of Sexism Greet a Nike Olympic Reveal

The sporting giant offered a sneak peek at its track and field outfits for Team U.S.A., and an unexpected backlash ensued.

People wearing athletic clothing stand in a line on a stage.

By Vanessa Friedman

Ever since the Norwegian women’s beach handball team turned the fact that they were required to wear teeny-tiny bikini bottoms for competition into a cause célèbre, a quiet revolution has been brewing throughout women’s sports. It’s one that questions received conventions about what female athletes do — or don’t — have to wear to perform at their very best.

It has touched women’s soccer (why white shorts?), gymnastics (why not a unitard rather than a leotard?), field hockey (why a low-cut tank top?) and many more, including running.

So it probably should not have come as a shock to Nike that when it offered a sneak peek of the Team U.S.A. track and field unies during a Nike Air event in Paris celebrating its Air technology on Thursday (which also included looks for other Olympic athletes, like Kenya’s track and field team, France’s basketball team and Korea’s break dancing delegation), they were met with some less-than-enthusiastic reactions.

See, the two uniforms Nike chose to single out on the mannequins included a men’s compression tank top and mid-thigh-length compression shorts and a woman’s bodysuit, cut notably high on the hip. It looked sort of like a sporty version of a 1980s workout leotard. As it was displayed, the bodysuit seemed as if it would demand some complicated intimate grooming.

Citius Mag , which focuses on running news, posted a photo of the uniforms on Instagram, and many of its followers were not amused.

“What man designed the woman’s cut?” wrote one.

“I hope U.S.A.T.F. is paying for the bikini waxes,” wrote another. So went most of the more than 1,900 comments.

The running comedian Laura Green posted an Instagram reel in which she pretended to be trying on the look (“We’re feeling pretty, um, breezy,” she said) and checking out the rest of the athlete’s kit bag, which turned out to include hair spray, lip gloss and a “hysterectomy kit,” so the women would not have to worry about periods.

When asked, Nike did not address the brouhaha directly, but according to John Hoke, the chief innovation officer, the woman’s bodysuit and the man’s shorts and top are only two of the options Nike will have for its Olympic runners. There are “nearly 50 unique pieces across men’s and women’s and a dozen competition styles fine-tuned for specific events,” Mr. Hoke said.

Women will be able to opt for compression shorts, a crop top or tank and a bodysuit with shorts rather than bikini bottoms. The full slate of looks was not on hand in Paris but more will be revealed next week at the U.S. Olympic Committee media summit in New York. The Paris reveal was meant to be a teaser.

Mr. Hoke also pointed out that Nike consults with a large number of athletes at every stage of the uniform design. Its track and field roster includes Sha’Carri Richardson, who happened to be wearing the compression shorts during the Paris presentation, and Athing Mu. And there are certainly runners who like the high-cut brief. (The British Olympic sprinter Dina Asher-Smith , another Nike athlete, told The New York Times last summer that while she opts to run in briefs, she also leans toward a leotard style, rather than a two-piece.)

What Nike missed, however, was that in choosing those two looks as the primary preview for Team U.S.A., rather than, say, the matching shorts and tanks that will be also available, it shored up a longstanding inequity in sports — one that puts the body of a female athlete on display in a way it does not for the male athlete.

“Why are we presenting this sexualized outfit as the standard of excellence?” said Lauren Fleshman, a U.S. national champion distance runner and the author of “Good for a Girl.” “In part because we think that’s what nets us the most financial gain from sponsors or NIL opportunities, most of which are handed out by powerful men or people looking at it through a male gaze. But women are breaking records with ratings in sports where you don’t have to wear essentially a bathing suit to perform.”

The problem such imagery creates is twofold. When Nike chose to reveal the high-cut bodysuit as the first Olympics outfit, purposefully or not, the implication for anyone watching is that “this is what excellence looks like,” Ms. Fleshman said.

That perception filters down to young athletes and becomes the model girls think they have to adopt, often at a developmental stage when their relationships with their bodies are particularly fraught.

And more broadly, given the current political debate around adjudicating women’s bodies, it reinforces the idea that they are public property.

Still, Ms. Fleshman said, “I’m glad Nike put this image out as the crown jewel of Olympic Team design,” because it may act as the catalyst for another conversation that has been long overdue.

“If you showed this outfit to someone from the W.N.B.A. or women’s soccer, they would laugh in your face,” she said. “We shouldn’t have to normalize it for track and field anymore. Time’s up on that.”

ON MARCH 13 , scouts from 18 NFL teams traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the Air Force Academy pro day. The event has never been a high-priority stop for talent evaluators ahead of the draft, but this time, there was an elevated sense of importance.

Part of that was obvious: Over the past three seasons, Air Force has the ninth-best winning percentage in FBS college football (.744) and the second-best mark among Group of 5 teams. And scouts were eager to see the talented players who made up such a winning program.

Another part was almost ceremonial. The academies will likely still hold NFL pro days next year, but they won't function the same way given none of the graduating seniors will be eligible to play right away. As things sit, this will be the last year the United States government will permit service academy players -- those at Army , Navy and Air Force -- to jump directly from college to professional sports. Next year, athletes will be required to serve two years in the military -- as had been a long-established process until 2019 -- before having the option to pursue professional sports, while completing the rest of their service commitment in the reserves.

"Two years being away from the game is a tremendous setback," said Chet Gladchuk, who has served as Navy's athletic director since 2001. "We don't guarantee anyone that they're going to make the pros or that they're going to get a tryout. But if you've got a young man coming up the ranks here and develops and realizes, 'I'm good enough,' why shouldn't he get to take that shot?"

The ever-changing policy has been the subject of debate over the past several years, especially since December 2022, when a passage in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) stated a "cadet may not obtain employment, including as a professional athlete, until after completing the cadet's commissioned service obligation."

It created an uproar because, at the time, Army linebacker Andre Carter II was projected as a possible first-round NFL draft pick, and it gave the impression the rug had been pulled out from under him. The response was impactful. Legislators moved quickly to adjust the language, grandfathering in those who arrived at service academies in 2019 or earlier, thereby paving the way for football players to be eligible for the 2023 and 2024 NFL drafts.

But why have the rule at all? It's something athletic department officials at all three service academies have struggled to find a good answer for and, uniformly, believe goes against the best interests of the United States military.

"It's important to keep in mind that none of them would lose or shake their obligation to serve [if they went directly to the NFL]. It's not like you're letting them off the hook," Gladchuk said. "Every one of them would still have to serve at one point or another."

GROWING UP IN suburban Chicago, Bo Richter never really gave much thought about joining the military. It wasn't until he was approached by an Air Force assistant at a camp at Northwestern that it even entered his consciousness -- and then he was dismissive.

"I said to my mom, 'It's pretty cool, the Air Force Academy,'" Richter said. "I would never go there, but that's awesome.

"Then we got the whole spiel, and we started figuring out what it was all about. Great academics, great football. It ended up being the best option for me."

Richter wasn't a recruit who fielded much Power 5 interest. He didn't start playing football in high school until his junior year and -- other than Air Force -- was primarily sought after by schools in the Ivy League, MAC and FCS going into his senior year. For a recruit of his profile, the NFL didn't factor into his decision in the slightest. He was more concerned about where he could go to prepare for a career in business.

His path is a typical one for a service academy player. Rarely do any of the three land a recruit with Power 5 offers; instead, they focus more on somewhat under-the-radar types with strong academic profiles.

"You're trying to identify somebody that's an exceptionally strong student that has the maturity and the character and the leadership qualities and someone you think can be a good Division I football player," Air Force coach Troy Calhoun said. "They're hard to find. We literally recruit the whole country. We have all five time zones on our team just because we have pretty unique people.

"First thing on the transcript: Is there pre-calculus? Is there chemistry? We're still [standardized-]test-mandatory. The sheer candor of what's involved to how you're going to serve, you're 22 years old and you're going to serve on active duty. That's hard to find."

This is not Calhoun complaining. This is him laying out the reality of what has been -- and will always be -- needed to fill a roster at a service academy. For him, players such as Richter and Trey Taylor , the 2023 Jim Thorpe Award winner, will always be the model for continued success: guys who needed to develop before growing into team leaders by the back ends of their careers.

Taylor and Richter are both viewed as possible late-round picks who will surely be signed as free agents if they go undrafted. They were among the six Air Force players who worked out in front of NFL scouts.

At pro day, Richter's development was on full display. His 40-inch vertical jump and 26 reps on the bench would have ranked No. 1 among all linebackers at the combine; his broad jump of 10 feet, 4 inches would have been tied for third; and he ran a consensus 4.56 in the 40-yard dash despite pulling a hamstring on his first and only attempt. And during the season, he had incredible production, finishing with 19.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

"Playing at the professional level is something that was a dream that I had no idea how realistic it was going to be until I got to this point," said Richter, who was not a highly recruited high school player. "And now it looks like it's a realistic one."

After all, there are only six service academy players on active NFL rosters.

Richter plans on taking football as far as he can, but also spoke proudly of the assignment that awaits him as a commissioner officer working as a financial manager at Eglin Air Force Base whenever that time comes.

For Calhoun, others that come along in that mold -- who come in unheralded before developing into potential NFL players -- should also be given the opportunity to see how far football can take them.

THE NDAA FOR fiscal year 2024 was approved by both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in December and was signed into law by President Joe Biden on Dec. 22.

Tucked deep in that bill was the call for the Secretary of Defense to submit a report to the committees on armed services of the Senate and the House of Representatives by March 1. The report would include a legislative proposal to "update and clarify the legislative framework related to the ability of Service Academy graduates to pursue employment as a professional athlete prior to serving at least five years on active duty; and retain the existing requirement that all Service Academy graduates must serve for two years on active duty before affiliating with the reserves to pursue employment as a professional athlete."

It also required a report that included every service academy graduate released or deferred from active service to participate in professional sports and a description of their career progress.

Spokespersons for the committees on armed services of the Senate and the House of Representatives did not reply to multiple messages from ESPN seeking copies of the reports and inquiring about the professional sports pathway for service academy graduates. A Department of Defense spokesperson declined to make anyone available for comment.

"It would've been nice if the athletic directors were engaged in the thought process a little bit more," Gladchuk said. "It was pretty much handled at a level that was well above our influence."

DURING THE SEASON , before the NDAA was finalized, Calhoun held out hope there would be another reversal, paving the way for players to head directly to the NFL.

On the possibility of keeping the two-year service term before attempting to go pro, Calhoun said, "Candidly, I think that would be a mistake for our country."

Navy coach Brian Newberry is in a similar boat.

"It's frustrating," Newberry said. "A lot of players that we recruit, they're not delusional about their ability to play in the NFL, but there's certainly a large amount of kids that we recruit that have those ambitions and at least want the opportunity if it presents itself."

It might be easy to write that off as a football coach looking for a competitive advantage, and while that is certainly part of it, there's more to it.

"I don't understand it. I think, for a lot of reasons, it would actually be good for the academies [to send players to the NFL]," Newberry said. "If, by chance, we have a player that can play in the NFL, what a great marketing tool for the academies and for the military. What great ambassadors they would be, and what you get out of that side of it far outweighs the deferment of their service.

"To me, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I hear the arguments on both sides, but I just think that the argument on the other side is uninformed."

That argument boils down to this: When someone is admitted to a service academy, their military obligation is all that matters. The academies don't exist to develop professional athletes.

After the two-year service period was reinstated in 2022, Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., issued a statement in support of the reversal.

"While I wish all service academy athletes who wish to go pro the best, the fact is U.S. military service academies exist to produce warfighters, not professional athletes," he said. "By enrolling in one of these institutions, they took a spot from one of the thousands of other highly qualified Americans whose dream was to attend a service academy and serve their country in uniform."

But to those on the campuses, that stance lacks nuance and implies these athletes are attempting to circumvent their service obligation, something that has never been on the table. They believe giving football players an NFL runway straight out of school actually functions as an extension of their military commitment.

Take Carter, for example. Even though his draft stock slipped and he ended up going undrafted, he still signed with the Minnesota Vikings last year and appeared in 12 games as a rookie. For the duration of his NFL career, he'll carry significant value as a marketing asset for West Point and the U.S. Army.

Consider this: Last month, the Army released its 2025 fiscal year budget overview that called for a 10% increase to its recruiting and advertising budget, bringing it to $1.1 billion.

"Andre Carter's best opportunity to help the Army's recruiting is for him to lead the league in sacks as a Minnesota Viking," said Mike Buddie, the athletic director at West Point. "If you win a Rhodes Scholarship, we pause your military responsibility and let you pursue the Rhodes Scholarship because that's the best use of your skills. I view professional athletes very similarly to medical school and to Rhodes Scholarships. Especially with the fact that they've all agreed and they all understand that the minute that their professional sports career is over, their five-year clock starts ticking."

And at that point, they've been around a professional setting and are, perhaps, more prepared to serve as a commission officer.

Added Newberry: "The amount of kids that actually have that opportunity [to play in the NFL] is so minuscule that I don't think it impacts what the academies' missions are in the long term.

"They're not trying to get out of their service. I think that's the most important thing to understand, is these kids come here, they choose to serve, they want to serve. But that window for them is so small, so to require a two-year delay just makes no sense."

CORAL SPRINGS — Westminster Academy senior quarterback Anthony Barbar made an impact on the field by setting school records while also displaying his leadership in the classroom and community. Barbar was recognized as one of the four overall winners of the Scholar-Athlete Award at the Brian Piccolo Chapter’s 49th Annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet at The Marriott Coral Springs Hotel and Convention Center on Wednesday night.

The Brian Piccolo Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame program ceremony honored 41 senior football players from Broward County schools for their academic achievements and volunteer work in the community.

Barbar was named Florida Dairy Farmers Independent Football Player of the Year this past season. He delivered a memorable senior campaign on the field to lead his team to a runner-up finish at the state championship. He was ranked as a top-five quarterback in all classifications and had single-season school records in passing yards (3,568), touchdown passes (40), completions (221) and completion percentage (71 percent). He also holds school records at quarterback for passing yards (8,407), touchdowns passes (86) and wins (29).

Barbar, who will play football at Wheaton College in Illinois, is the fourth recipient from Westminster Academy to earn the Scholar-Athlete overall winner award. One of those earlier Lions honorees was quarterback Danny Kanell, who starred at Florida State University and played in the NFL, received the honor back in 1992.

“This award holds immense meaning to me not just because of its prestige, but because of the values it represents,” Barbar said.

Barbar was also selected FACA Broward County Player of the Year, All-State First Team and Sun Sentinel All-County first team this past season. He is an Academic Honor Roll recipient for four years. He had a 3.691 weighted GPA and accumulated 1,005 community service hours. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and was active in the Gangway Youth Ministry at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Youth Leadership Broward.

“I am reminded of the responsibilities to continue striving for excellence, lead by example and make a positive impact on the life of others,” Barbar said. “I am inspired to carry forth the legacy of Brian Piccolo in everything that I do.”

Miramar safety Caleb Solomon, Dillard offensive lineman Khamari Griffin and Nova center Andito Wills Jr. also were all honored on stage as recipients of the Scholar-Athlete overall award.

Solomon, a Columbia University signee, was selected as a BCAA All-Star. He served as Senior Class President and finished in the top 10 percent of his class with a 4.59 weighted GPA. Griffin had a 4.4044 weighted GPA with 471 community service hours. He was on the Academic Honor Roll for four years and a member of the National Honor Society.

Wills Jr., who served as a team captain at center, was recognized as a BCAA All-Star. He had a 5.4 weighted GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society.

South Broward’s Brandon Rabasco, who received a preferred walk-on scholarship to the University of Florida, was selected as the Cerra Enterprises Special Teams Player of the Year. Rabasco served as a kicker and punter for the football team and was also a standout soccer player. He had a 4.3 weighted GPA and was a Straight A Honor Roll student.

“I put in a lot of hard work in school on and off the field,” Rabasco said. “I feel honored to represent my school and be here. I am excited to compete at the University of Florida.”

Western’s Brendan Leal was named BSN Sports Defensive Player of the Year. The Wagner University signee had a 4.9615 weighted GPA. He was a Sun Sentinel All-County First Team recipient and recorded the most tackles in District 4M. He was the Vice President of the National Honor Society Youth Group.

Fort Lauderdale’s Luke Hamill was selected as the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (U18) Sports Medicine Offensive Player of the Year. The BCAA All-Star played tight end as well as long snapper. He finished in the top 10 percent of his class with a 5.09 weighted GPA.

Blanche Ely’s Joshua Lloyd, a Sun Sentinel First Team All-County selection, represented the Tigers at the ceremony. The Western Michigan University signee was on the Principal’s Honor Roll and had a 4.54 weighted GPA.

Jerome and Stockar McDougle were both featured on stage as the Distinguished Americans at the ceremony. Jerome starred at Blanche Ely, won a national championship at the University of Miami and played defensive end in the NFL. Stockar, an offensive lineman, played at Deerfield Beach High School, Oklahoma University and was a first round draft pick in the NFL.

University of South Florida head coach Alex Golesh served as the keynote speaker. Brian Piccolo lost his battle with cancer at the age of 26. He played high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas, collegiate football at Wake Forest University and in the NFL with the Chicago Bears.

The umbrella academy season 4 star promises a satisfying & wild ending.

Exclusive: The Umbrella Academy star Justin H. Min promises the show's fourth and final season will boast a satisfying and wild conclusion.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Gets Hopeful Update From Showrunner

  • The Umbrella Academy season 4 promises a wild and emotional ride that will give viewers closure.
  • Ending with just 6 episodes, the final season will hopefully tackle loose ends from the complex storyline to give a satisfying conclusion.
  • The loss of the siblings' powers sets a new stage for unpredictable outcomes, which will hopefully tie up those plot points in its final episodes.

The Umbrella Academy star Justin H. Min teases a wild and satisfying season 4 ending for viewers. The Netflix series will conclude with season 4, which is set to premiere on August 8. Across the first three seasons, the show followed the Hargreeves, seven superpowered individuals born mysteriously on October 1, 1989, and adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore). As children, they made up a superhero team dubbed the Umbrella Academy. As estranged adults, they are forced to work together again to prevent the end of the world, and season 4 will see the crew reunited for one last adventure.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant , Min, who portrays Ben Hargreeves, teased The Umbrella Academy season 4's ending. Min explained that he couldn't say too much about the new season. However, he confirmed the cast had an " amazing time " filming the final installment and that he personally felt that "fans will be given closure" in the end . The actor also teased that season 4 would be "wild" and "emotional," but ultimately does justice to the characters and story. Check out his statement below:

Netflix has eyes and ears everywhere. I wish I could say more. We had an amazing time filming the last season last year. I think fans will be given closure. I think we do justice to the story and to the characters. It is, of course, going to be a wild ride, as every season is. It was very emotional filming, and I'm so excited to share it with everyone soon.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Has Lots Of Questions To Answer Before Ending The Show For Good

Season 3 ended with the siblings losing their powers and going their separate ways..

While there's evidence of an intriguing story in season 4, there are still lingering concerns about how it will tie everything up.

As The Umbrella Academy prepares to end with its final episodes, the series has many stories that need to wrap up in its shortened final season. Unlike previous seasons that boasted ten episodes, season 4 was cut to just six episodes . Meanwhile, it has quite the story to tackle, considering season 3 left off on a major cliffhanger in which Sir Reginald reset the timeline. The Hargreeves found themselves in a new timeline where they all lost their powers, and their adoptive father had established a business empire.

The Umbrella Academy's Complete Timeline (& Alternates) Explained

The Umbrella Academy 's season 3 ending was promising, as the loss of the Hargreeves' powers promised to change the typical season formula . Each season has seen the siblings attempt to prevent an apocalypse, which often has fatal consequences for the timeline. Hence, with yet another timeline reset with unpredictable consequences, season 4 ran the risk of getting too formulaic. However, the power twist puts the Hargreeves in entirely new circumstances and complicates things further if timeline anomalies arise. The finale also introduced many loose ends, such as Sloane's (Genesis Rodriguez) disappearance and why a Ben variation is in Seoul.

While there's evidence of an intriguing story in season 4, there are still lingering concerns about how it will tie everything up. Every season tends to end on a cliffhanger and present further unsolvable paradoxes and anomalies, but now, the show has six episodes to conclude the story that has grown complicated with multiple alternate timelines . It remains to be seen if The Umbrella Academy season 4 can truly differentiate itself from past installments and conclude without too many loose ends.

The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book of the same name created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The Hargreeves — collectively known as The Umbrella Academy — were born with superpowers, and their adoptive father utilized their abilities. However, as they grew older, the siblings grew apart as they dealt with their trauma. They are brought back together after their father dies and Five returns from the future with grave news: The world will end, and The Umbrella Academy has to stop it before it happens.

About CytoSorbents Corporation (NASDAQ: CTSO)

CytoSorbents Corporation  is a leader in the treatment of life-threatening conditions in the intensive care unit and in cardiac surgery through blood purification. Its lead product,  CytoSorb ® , is approved in the European Union and distributed in 75 countries worldwide. It is an extracorporeal cytokine adsorber that reduces “cytokine storm” or “cytokine release syndrome” in common critical illnesses that can lead to massive inflammation, organ failure and patient death. In these diseases, the risk of death can be extremely high, and there are few, if any, effective treatments. CytoSorb is also used during and after cardiothoracic surgery to remove antithrombotic drugs and inflammatory mediators that can lead to postoperative complications, including severe bleeding and multiple organ failure. At the end of 2023, more than 228,000 CytoSorb devices had been used cumulatively. CytoSorb was originally launched in the European Union under CE mark as the first cytokine adsorber. Additional CE mark extensions were granted for bilirubin and myoglobin removal in clinical conditions such as liver disease and trauma, respectively, and for  ticagrelor  and  rivaroxaban  removal in cardiothoracic surgery procedures. CytoSorb has also received  FDA Emergency Use Authorization  in the United States for use in adult critically ill COVID-19 patients with impending or confirmed respiratory failure. The DrugSorb™-ATR antithrombotic removal system, based on the same polymer technology as CytoSorb, also received two  FDA Breakthrough Device Designations , one for the removal of  ticagrelor  and another for the removal of the  direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) apixaban and rivaroxaban  in a cardiopulmonary bypass circuit during urgent cardiothoracic procedures. The Company has completed the FDA-approved, randomized, controlled STAR-T (Safe and Timely Antithrombotic Removal-Ticagrelor) study of 140 patients at approximately 30 centers in U.S. and Canada to evaluate whether intraoperative use of DrugSorb-ATR can reduce the perioperative risk of bleeding in patients receiving ticagrelor and undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. This pivotal study is intended to support U.S. FDA and Health Canada marketing approval for DrugSorb-ATR in this application.

CytoSorbents’ purification technologies are based on biocompatible, highly porous polymer beads that can actively remove toxic substances from blood and other bodily fluids by pore capture and surface adsorption. Its technologies have received non-dilutive grant, contract, and other funding of approximately $50 million from DARPA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Air Force Material Command (USAF/AFMC), and others. The Company has numerous marketed products and products under development based upon this unique blood purification technology protected by many issued U.S. and international patents and registered trademarks, and multiple patent applications pending, including ECOS-300CY ® , CytoSorb-XL™, HemoDefend-RBC™, HemoDefend-BGA™, VetResQ ® , K + ontrol™, DrugSorb™, ContrastSorb, and others.  For more information, please visit the Company’s websites at  www.cytosorbents.com  and  www.cytosorb.com  or follow us on  Facebook  and  X  (fka Twitter).
