Research Nurse

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust

  • To lead on planning recruitment strategies for research studies, monitoring delivery, maintaining excellent communication with all stakeholders, and working as a team to identify problems early on and problem solve.
  • To assist clinical teams and NHS services in identifying potential participants eligible to take part in research projects and to provide information and support for patients, carers and staff involved in research projects.
  • To provide research teams with assistance with feasibility and setting up research projects within NHS Trust.
  • To actively promote research amongst clinicians, service users and the wider NHS.
  • To deliver Research projects inline with the GCP guidelines and adherence to research protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Current Registered Nurse/ Mental Health/Dementia/General
  • Current Good Clinical Practice training. Informed Consent for Research training. Research document management training. Other research methods training Relevant clinical skills training eg. Venepuncture Nurse Mentoring qualification Existing certification of or willingness to undergo any further training to meet requirements of the post. E.g. Good Clinical Practice, Informed Consent, and patient assessments training for research projects. Evidence of on-going clinical professional development
  • Experience in clinical research project management Experience of research project related training from Clinical Research Network Experience in research project recruitment and data collection in research studies as a project lead-particularly clinical or interventional studies. Experience of physical, clinical skills eg. venepuncture Proven ability and experience to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Research Nurse at Band6 level of working in the NHS in a clinical setting. Experience of working with mental health/dementia service users. Experience of undertaking patient assessments eg. quality of Life and other psychometric assessments. Understanding and experience of research methodology.
  • Understanding of the processes of research governance. Knowledge of national and statutory guidance and legislation governing research. eg. Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Medicine and Healthcare Products Regularity Authority, Data Protection Act/GDPR. Some understanding of the national research infrastructure and the relationships the Trust has to these networks. Knowledge of clinical governance and clinical effectiveness. E.g., audit and Evidence Based Practice Knowledge of legislation regarding safety reporting and pharmacovigilance Current professional issues. Equal Opportunities. Confidentiality.   • Excellent written & verbal communication skills to include: oPresentation skills. oAble to liaise with, and explain complex procedures and concepts to a varied audience including, service users, carers, senior academics, administrative and all grades of clinical staff. oAble to communicate difficult matters in challenging situations. Ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with service users, carers, Trust staff and partner organisations in order to achieve agreed internal/external research targets as set by the Local Research Network and study coordinator. Able to liaise with medical consultants, and senior health professionals to ensure satisfactory communication with patients and seamless delivery of care. Must be able to work effectively under pressure and to respond appropriately to peaks of work activities, by prioritising and organising own work with minimal supervision. Able to plan, organise and complete multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines. Able to work flexibly in order to work round clinicians' clinical commitments. Ability to identify and highlight local activities that might impact on achievement of the research process. Ability to make judgements about best way to achieve complete treatment plan and data collection in line with research protocols. Ability to make judgements about a range of clinical issues or complex patient conditions. Ability to identify patients who may be eligible for clinical studies and evaluate their eligibility in relation to complex research protocols, referring to other professionals as necessary. Maintain accurate clinical, research and other records using the Trust's documentation or clinical study site files and data collection instruments. Ability to deal with telephone enquiries from staff, patients and carers, using judgement to respond or refer to appropriate personnel. Good Computer skills to include: - oWord Processing and use of spread sheets oUse of Outlook oUse of Databases - Ability to input recruitment of information onto databases oUse of electronic patient records Proven ability to problem-solve and contribute to developing strategies for recruiting patients to studies. Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Car Driver and use of a vehicle to be able to travel between multiple sites. You will be based at Lynfield Mount Hospital but will be expected to attend meetings at other Trust sites, and across the region as required. Brief Description of the Role:

Born in Bradford (BiB) have an exciting opportunity for a 2 year, band 6 Research Nurse to come and work with us on our newest ground breaking research programme: Born in Bradford Age of Wonder.

BiB is an internationally acclaimed applied research programme that aims to achieve a healthier, fairer future for children living in Bradford. BiB is a partnership of the Bradford Institute for Health Research and the Universities of York, Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield.

The first BiB cohort includes 12,500 children who are now entering adolescence, a critical period that will shape the life-long physical and mental health as well as their social mobility and opportunities. BiB Age of Wonder will follow 30,000 young people (including the original BiB cohort and their peers) until age 21 to better understand how to keep young people healthy and happy, to improve outcomes and to reduce health inequalities.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic Research Nurse who will be employed within the Research Team for Age of Wonder, with supervision, CPD and regular contact with senior research team.

ROSEANA AGIN

Roseana K. Agin, 72, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at her home, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Roseana was born December 23, 1951, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Donald and Renee (Dulkoski) Grim.

Roseana was a homemaker and worked several years as a nurse’s aide. Roseana was a member of the Wintersville Baptist Temple.

In addition to her parents, Roseana was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lawrence “Larry” A. Agin in 2019, infant daughter Tammy Cochran, stepson Lance Agin, stepdaughter Theresa Agin, stepson Reid Agin, brother Donnie and sister-in-law Phyllis Grim.

Roseana is survived by her children, Deitra Agin of Follansbee, WV, and Larry (Brenda) Agin, II of Toronto; daughter-in-law Kathy Agin of New Port Richey, FL; brothers, Ronald (Pinkie) Grim of Jewett, OH, Douglas Grim of Cadiz, OH, Andrew Grim of Adena, OH, David Grim of Hopedale, OH; sisters, Karen (Jack) Bryan of Cadiz, OH, Betsey (Bob) Bulson of MI; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Roseana loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook, enjoyed canning, gardening, and the outdoors. Roseana was a member of the Knoxville Vol. Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary and President for many years. She spent several years volunteering her time at the Wintersville Baptist Temple, Awana Youth Club, where she enjoyed spending time with the children.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 17, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Troy Thacker will officiate, and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
