Tourism, literally speaking, is the act of travelling to a place for your pleasure or business. The tourism industry is one the biggest industries in the world and is a major source of foreign exchange for any country. Tourism helps to develop a country through the generation of jobs, creation of attractions, restaurants, entertainment, better services in a community, diversification of the economy and cross-cultural diversity. However, recently the tourism industry has been greatly affected due to the pandemic. With the world being shut down, travel was completely restricted and even with everything slowly going back to normal, people are hesitant to travel. Still, the tourism industry remains important for the national economy and would bounce back.

Plenty of employment is generated by the tourism industry and so it alleviates poverty and sustains development. Local handicrafts and cultural activities are all benefitted by tourism. It plays a significant role in promoting international understanding as well as national integrity. One more loftier goal of tourism is to provide a sense of relief and relaxation to people when they feel tired and exhausted from the same monotonous work routine. For many people, it is a way of escape. May be sometimes, all they need is a weekend getaway. A lot of sectors such as aviation, transport, handicraft and horticulture are also benefitted from tourism. It contributes significantly to the GDP of a country as well as to its economic development. Through tourism, the culture and heritage of a country get promoted in foreign as well.

Things have now started looking bright for the Indian tourism industry. However, the Indian tourism industry has been hit by pollution. The effluents emitted by the Mathura Refinery have led to the decolourization of the Taj Mahal in Agra. The condition of many of our monuments is deteriorating due to the negligence of the concerned authorities. On the other hand, beaches have become the dumping grounds of garbage and waste left by tourists. The natural environment and heritage sites remain a source of attraction as long as these are not damaged beyond control from their degradation or pollution. Massive tourist traffic, unless regulated, creates these mal-effects. The tourist carrying capacity of a resort needs to be matched to minimise the inconveniences of local people during the period of tourist rush. Youths of the host area are also to be saved from cultural alienation by blindly imitating the lifestyle of foreigners during days of reckless massive tourism. Planning for adopting a sequence of steps like a survey of the existing position of services, facilities needed by tourists and measures for the development of healthy and sustainable tourism, has become a dire need. At the national level, an apex body has to take stock of the status and trends of tourism in comparison with neighbouring countries. It will help appraise the future needs, the nature of various incentives for alluring tourists and the gaps to be removed for better provision as well as management of the infrastructure.

In the era of globalization, tourism has started playing a vital role in the development of economies. Nowadays, tourism makes significant contributions to the economy of a nation; however, it has some drawbacks too. The two major advantages of tourism are the augmentation of the national economy and the generation of employment for local people. Firstly, tourists use a wide range of services which includes hotel bookings, tourist guides, food and transportation. This results in additional income which in turn contributes to the nation’s economy. For example, tourism increases the consumption of domestic products which have a significant impact on the overall GDP growth of the country. Secondly, tourism creates a significant number of job opportunities as without people tour operators, restaurants, hotels and transport services cannot operate. Hence, tourism brings significant benefits such as a boost in the national economy and employment for local people. However, there are various disadvantages associated with tourism such as the destruction of popular destinations and the rise in criminal and illegal activities. Firstly, the massive influx of tourists to places like historical monuments and pilgrimage centres causes significant damage to these age-old structures. In addition, to cope with the demand of tourists/tourism national resources are overexploited. Secondly, as tourists carry valuable items with them such as cash, jewellery and other expensive items, they may become the targets of thieves and other anti-social elements. Hence tourism also has many disadvantages which can be eliminated by the government if they ensure proper security measures and timely maintenance of popular tourist spots. To conclude, in spite of the fact that tourism has certain disadvantages such as destructive effects on monuments and an increase in criminal activities it has a very constructive effect on a nation’s economy and gives a plethora of new job opportunities for locals. I personally believe that the advantages of tourism outweigh its disadvantages.

As an industry the impact of tourism is manifold. The tourism industry nourishes a country’s economy, stimulates the development process and restores the cultural heritage. This industry enjoys a major advantage over other industries of having a unique product that might differ from state to state. For example, Goa is renowned for its sunny beaches and colonial charms, palaces that are reminders of the princely era. During the 1960s great emphasis was placed on tourism as a source of foreign exchange-earners. Tourism is the one industry that earns foreign exchange for a country without exhausting natural resources and without actually exporting any material goods. The income from tourism has tended to increase at a higher rate than merchandise export in a number of countries. There is now almost a continuous flow of income from richer countries to the not-so richer and developing ones, raising the latter’s export earnings and rate of economic growth. For example in countries like India and Spain, tourism is the single largest earner of foreign exchange. According to official Spanish sources, in 1981 there were more visitor arrivals in Spain (40 million) than the actual population of the country (36 million). Tourism is thus the most important source of income for many countries. Development and improvement of infrastructure facilities is another important benefit offered by the tourism industry. Infrastructural facilities such as airports, roads, water supply and other public utilities may be widely shared by the other sectors of the economy. Development of new infrastructure and improvement in the existing infrastructure may confer benefits upon the resident population which they may have not enjoyed otherwise. Furthermore, the provision of infrastructure may provide the basis or serve as an encouragement for greater economic diversification. A variety of secondary industries may be promoted which may not serve the needs of tourism. Thus, indirectly, tourist expenditure may be responsible for stimulating other economic activities of a country. Tourism development greatly benefits the underdeveloped regions of a country. These economically backward regions mostly have places of high scenic beauty, which if developed for the tourism industry, will help to bring a lot of prosperity to the local people. Money spent by tourists helps to improve the health of every business in that region. For example, roads constructed for use by tourists provide local people access to the market centres as well. Earlier, there were many backward areas but due to tourism development, these places got international recognition. For example, Khajuraho, a few years back was considered a remote and unknown small village, but today, it is an internationally famous tourist place of interest and also generates employment for hundreds of local people in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, handicraft shops etc. Without tourism development, Khajuraho would have remained a remote and unknown village till today. The tourism industry is a highly labour-intensive service industry that generates employment for highly skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labourers in sectors like hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, tourism offices, shops etc. One additional room in a hotel helps at least 8 to 9 people in getting jobs. Not only that, tourism creates employment outside the industry as well, for example, the basic infrastructure like roads, airport, water supply etc. The construction industry creates jobs for thousands of both skilled and unskilled workers. Tourism remains basically a cultural phenomenon. Tourism has always stood as a unique vehicle for cultural promotion. In the past, travel was based on cultural interest. Even today a large number of people travel to foreign countries to learn about their culture and tradition. Tourism indirectly preserves the environment by discouraging large scale industrialisation in places where natural beauty has to be kept intact. It thus helps a country to restore its ancient monuments and archaeological treasures. Most of the developing countries which possess an ancient civilization can benefit greatly from tourism. Tourists visiting these countries have a great urge to become acquainted with ancient civilizations. As a result of cultural shopping, which forms an important part of any tourist itinerary, local handicraft is still surviving. Tourism has also given a new lease of life to the traditional customs, costumes, festivals and dances which generates employment for the weaker section in the remote areas of the country. Hence, tourism can contribute unique benefits to a nation by exploring its cultural heritage and can serve indirectly to improve the individual cultural levels of both national and foreign tourists. Tourism plays an important role in promoting international goodwill. It creates awareness and appreciation of other countries cultures and traditions and makes possible cultural exchange and enrichment. Tourism can be a vehicle for international understanding by way of bringing diverse people from different cultures and traditions face to face. The best way of getting to know another country is to go there and when a vast number of people travel, the prejudices, barriers and suspicions that exist between different countries breakdown the narrow, rigid boundaries that keep people away from each other, naturally tend to shrink and a positive move towards better international understanding begins to operate. Tourism can greatly enrich and promote friendship between different countries in the world. Tourism, thus, develops not only the economic condition of a country by earning foreign exchange for it, but also plays a vital role in its social, cultural and regional development and in promoting goodwill and friendship among all nations of the World.

The British Backpacker Society marked Pakistan as the best adventure destination of 2018 . It might not be a prominent place for a vacation, but it is definitely worth attention. Pakistan is an attractive traveling destination for cultural tourism and nature lovers. While Pakistan’s potential in tourism is just developing, it is an excellent opportunity to visit a beautiful and not overcrowded place. Pakistan’s mountain ranges are rich with spectacular views, flora, and fauna. Various activities are available for tourists that will let you interact with nature. Everyone can find something to do depending on their preferences. You can choose from extreme sports such as mountain climbing and white water rafting or quiet time spending such as fishing and birdwatching. Located in South Asia, Pakistan is home to Indus Valley Civilization various dynasties. This country was part of several empires that made its cultural legacy unique. Pakistan is also a country where several UNESCO world heritage sites are located. Some of them are Historical Monuments at Makli, Thatta, Rohtas Fort and Taxila, Archaeological Ruins at Moenjodaro, and Buddhist Ruins of Takht-i-Bahi. Avoiding big crowds and long queues is one of the advantages of traveling to Pakistan. Enjoying virgin nature and seeing sights without any distractions is something that many tourists look for. Space tourism might have sounded like a fantasy a couple of decades ago. While it is still not a cheap adventure, progress makes it more and more accessible to people. Space tourism has massive potential as a business and stimulus to scientific progress and new career opportunities. Virgin Galactic, Space X, Blue Origin, Orion Spain, and Boeing already offer commercial travel to space for recreational purposes. Each of them hopes to launch suborbital flights regularly, making it a profitable business. Virgin Galactic experienced growth in demand by 15% for suborbital flights in autumn 2021, selling a seat for $450,000. As we can see, space tourism is a promising and highly lucrative sphere. With such wealthy and innovative companies leading the market, there is no doubt that scientists will have more opportunities to conduct experiments in space . The central aspect of any space travel is power generation, making it so expensive. Space tourism might become more affordable with advancements and research on this issue. The development of space tourism also means that there will be new jobs and careers. Some of them might be completely new. Others might be like regular jobs but with adjustments and special training. For example, doctors, nurses, fitness trainers, or excursionists. These and many other professions will require special or additional education to function in space tourism successfully. Space tourism is a dream that has become a reality in the 21 st century. As for now, not so many people can afford it, but there will be more opportunities available with the development of the sphere. Rising demand stimulates the growth of companies offering space tours as well as the science and job market expansion.

How to Write a Good Tourism Essay

  • The Pinnacle List

Many students think just because they’ve been to different places, they have enough information to write a top-grade tourism essay. However, having experience is only one component of an excellent tourism essay – you also need to conduct extensive research on the place you’re describing. Furthermore, tourism can be viewed from different perspectives, such as economics, politics, service management, etc.

If you’ve been assigned a tourism essay, read on to learn what you should do.

What is a Tourism Essay?

Like most other writing assignments, an essay on tourism is a short paper that discusses a situation or problem, but it specifically focuses on the issues of the tourism industry. The scope of the issue can be local or global. The purpose of the essay can vary from describing a specific tourist attraction to presenting solutions for developing tourism in a country or comparing two areas in terms of tourism metrics.

The Structure of a Tourism Essay

Generally, the structure of a tourism essay is not different from that of other essays. It can be broken into three sections:

  • Introduction

Usually, the introduction and conclusion have the same length. The former presents the issue and sets the stage for the actual argument, and the latter reiterates the thesis statement and presents a summary of the major points. What comes between these two sections is called the body. It’s usually much longer and goes into detail by presenting the author’s point of view, argument, or solution to a problem.

Choose an appropriate topic

Sometimes, instructors assign specific topics for each student. However, most of the time, students are free to choose their own topics. In this case, you shouldn’t pick just any topic. Your topic must be broad enough to cover an issue with sufficient detail, but at the same time, it should be narrow enough so that you can discuss its different aspects in a few pages.

What’s more, the topic must be something that you’re passionate about. This way, you’re more likely to produce a high-quality essay while enjoying the work that you do. Tourism is a broad field. Here are some example topics to inspire you:

  • How does social media affect the tourism industry?
  • How will tourism change after the coronavirus pandemic?
  • Medical tourism in Europe
  • Tourism in South America and its distinctive features
  • Sustainable tourism and its impact on the future of our planet

Create an outline

An outline is an organized list of all the issues you’re going to discuss in your essay. Having an outline helps you organize your thoughts and realize what you should and shouldn’t include in your essay.

To generate your outline, start with the thesis statement. Then list the significant points you want to include in the essay and compare each one with the thesis statement to see if they match. Remember that everything you write should support the thesis statement, so remove anything that doesn’t.

If necessary, you can break your major points into smaller subsections. It’s also wise to plan your paragraphs before writing them. This way, your essay will progress naturally, and there won’t be any inconsistencies.

Tell a Story and Use Images

What makes tourism essays different from other essays is that tourism is related to travel, and travel means nothing without a good story. So, don’t be afraid to tell a story, pique your audience’s curiosity, or even sound a bit whimsical. All of this helps make your writing more engaging.

Besides, you’ve probably heard the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” If you include the right images in your essay, it’ll be easier to get your point across. Plus, your writing won’t look so boring. However, don’t overdo it. As a rule of thumb, you should add one image per one thousand words.

Keep It Simple

Although a tourism essay is not much different from any other academic writing assignment, you should take extra care to write in a tone that’s easy to understand. You also don’t need to show off by using literary words or having a highly academic structure. Instead, it’s better to write in the active voice and a friendly tone.

Give Readers a Good Ending

After writing the main part of your essay, it’s time for the conclusion. The conclusion is the last part of your essay, which reiterates the thesis statement and summarizes your major points. To make sure you have a decent conclusion, go over your outline and try to incorporate one or a few sentences about each section.

Ideally, the conclusion of a tourism essay should refer to an anecdote or a personal experience.

Don’t Forget to Proofread

Just because your essay is complete doesn’t mean it’s done! Everyone is bound to make some grammatical mistakes or typos when they write anything. Sometimes, sentences aren’t written as clearly as they should. And there’s always room to improve your structure. That’s why you shouldn’t submit your work before proofreading it.

If you don’t have enough time to proofread on your own, you can get assistance from cheap reliable essay writing services. They often provide proofreading services in addition to academic writing services.

Get Help

As a student, you’re supposed to handle a ton of assignments, coursework, and exams. It’s understandable that you won’t have enough time to do everything on your own. If you feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you have to deliver, you should seek help from a reputable  essay writing service . This service provider delivers high-quality plagiarism-free essays that will get you top grades.

Bottom Line

Tourism is a vast field with social, economic, and political aspects to consider. To write the perfect tourism essay, you should both pick a topic that interests you and create a clean, logical outline. However, what separates a good tourism essay from other academic texts is its use of friendly and entertaining tone as well as the use of images and references, or anecdotes.

One major factor driving the growth of the tourism industry is technological advancements, which have made travel more accessible and affordable. The rise of the sharing economy, with platforms such as Airbnb and Uber, has also contributed to the growth by providing travelers with alternative accommodation and transportation options.

Moreover, governments around the world have recognized the potential of tourism and have invested in developing their countries’ infrastructure to attract visitors. This includes building new hotels, improving transportation networks, and preserving cultural landmarks .

Tourism Motivation Categories Essay (Critical Writing)

Introduction, motivation categories, points left out by author.

What makes tourist go to one place is of as much importance as when and how frequently they go there. It is, therefore, of critical importance to fully or largely understand what really motivates a tourist to tour one destination and not another.

Physical Motivators

It is true and rightly, so the writer highlights this motivator. However, tourists go to other countries to have a different experience as compared to what they get at home. This includes mountains and other physically appealing things (Julian, 2000).

Cultural Motivators

This is true to say that most tourists go different places to have an experience of other peoples culture, their way of life, see great architectural structures and take part in their activities. This is a great motivator for people want to have a taste of variety.

This could however not be a strong point where a tourist tours another country without having been to at least half of the tourist attraction sites in their own country or even having experienced all the cultural events that take place in their home country (Beaver, A2002).

Social Motivators

Not all tourists have relatives where they go touring. Besides, people always want to go where their close relatives and friends have not been. This could not therefore be a great motivator for tourists. On the other hand, it is very rare to find someone travelling for travel’s sake. They must have a specific reason that necessitates travel to one place and not another.

Rightly, put is the point that some people find themselves touring places because they went there on business trips or for further studies.

Spiritual Motivators

I highly agree with the writer that some tourists travel for religious reasons only. Muslims tour the Islamic city of Mecca whereas most Christians will go to Israel or Rome (Linda, 1999).

It is true that people become tourists in order to have a break from their normal everyday life. However, the author should have captured the fact that people do not only tour places to get a break from the normal but as they do that they want to go to places they have not been before or to a place where they had a good experience in the past (Gaines et al. 2000).

Tourist Defined

To say that a tourist is someone who visits a place away from his or her own country is actually beating the true meaning of internal tourism , which I believe, is the origin of all tourism. On the other hand, the author says that a tourist visits a country not their own for more than twenty four hours. I believe that this is not the case. What about a pilot who takes visitors on a twenty-three hour tour to a neighboring country’s animal park?

He, his crew and passengers are all Tourists to that country. Therefore, the parameter of time may not be an appropriate one in defining a Tourist. The author is right to say that things they lack or would want to have, seen or experience motivates tourists. Push and Pull factors are indeed great motivators leading to tourism.

It is also important to explain tourist motivation in terms of purpose- why tourist decides to go to a destination (Sutton 1967).

Rightly put, what is of importance is customer experience in motivation. It is indeed true that Tourists will intend to go to a specified destination for a particular experience, whether experiential, experimental or existential.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is especially appropriate to explain tourist motivation Depending on an individual’s level in the hierarchy of human needs, they may want to satisfy the desire to explore or tour different parts of the world before embarking on other subsequent needs.

The most likely level for a tourist to go to other countries would be at ‘Self-actualization’. The expectancy theory may not be a possible tool to explain tourist motivation, but rather Destination selection and budgeting. Tourism motivation is not too much about how much tourists spend but why they choose to spend it.

Performing Artists and Heads of State

Most artists have shows and concerts away from their own countries. In most cases, these artists travel with their families, support staff and even close friends. All these groups of people find themselves as tourists in destinations they never imagined.

National leaders accompanied by their government official’s move to different parts of the world on State official duty and by this virtue become tourists (Effland, 1998).

Humanitarian Groups

Refugee groups, the Red Cross and other humanitarian groups like the UN’s UNICEF, UNHCR have officials and volunteers of different nationalities. These people enjoy being tourists in places they initially went to help suffering communities (Wilkerson, 2003). People for example who go to Somalia or the4 Democratic Republic of Congo on Peace or Humanitarian Mission become tourists in Africa (Christensen, et al. 2003).

There are many motivators of tourism, which are important and should be considered when laying down strategies for tourist attraction. This is what makes a country a better attraction site than others. Governments should look at the critical areas of interest to tourists. This will auger well with what they are actually looking for (Gaffney, 2004).

Question-  Describe the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world .

Essay 1-

In a time when globalization is sweeping the entire ecosystem, tourism has a crucial responsibility for developing global economies and nations. Nowadays, tourism is what makes widespread economic contributions to all countries, although there are a few negatives as well. This essay talks about the advantages and disadvantages of tourism before concluding with a final opinion.

The biggest benefits of tourism are quite obvious, i.e., boosting the national GDP and economy and creating more employment for local citizens and communities. Tourists use diverse solutions while traveling, including booking hotels, flights, transportation, and guides. They also require food, shopping, and leisure while indulging in a wide gamut of other activities. This leads to extra income for thousands, which contributes handsomely to the country's economy. Tourism increases the GDP significantly and helps create more employment opportunities. People are always needed as tour guides, operators, booking agents, hotel and restaurant staff, transportation personnel, etc. Tourism thus has huge benefits to bring to the table for any country and its local population.

Yet, there are some negatives of tourism as well. This includes the rampant damage of several well-known destinations and increased crime or illegal activities. The huge number of tourists thronging popular cultural and historical landmarks and monuments and other centers of pilgrimage lead to major structural and environmental damage. Along with this aspect, national resources are often overused and overexploited for handling this rush of tourists. At the same time, tourists bring their jewelry, money, and other expensive items, becoming targets for anti-social criminals and thieves, leading to a growth in illegal activities and crime. Hence, tourism has some disadvantages as well. However, the Government can take proactive steps to eliminate the same by providing more security and policing while maintaining popular monuments, tourist spots, and natural resources alike.

To conclude, it can be said that while tourism does have specific disadvantages, it has a positive impact on livelihood, national economies, and overall employment. It also fosters cultural exchange, information gathering, and educational growth. Hence, while Governments may fix the negatives with proactive measures, the positives far outweigh them, in my opinion. (370 words)

IELTS IDIOMS GUIDE

Tourism has witnessed rapid development over several decades, becoming a major industry worldwide. The global tourism sector is responsible for generating a major percentage of economic wealth for several countries. Most developing economies are also hugely dependent upon tourism for earning national income and the smooth operation of several business sectors and industries, along with maintaining their levels of employment generation. Yet, like every other sector and institution, tourism will always have some advantages and disadvantages. Hence, in this article, we will discuss the pros and cons of tourism in detail to have a balanced insight.

The growth and development of global tourism naturally bring myriad benefits to entire cities, countries, and communities alike. Tourism is one of the biggest foreign exchange sources and boosts the monetary positions of countries by adding to their economy and GPD alike. Whenever tourists visit any other country, they usually use various services and products that enable industries such as hotels and hospitality, airlines, transportation, leisure, food and beverages, souvenirs, apparel, and more. Other benefits of tourism include better relationships and political equations amongst nations, easier travel regulations, and inter-cultural and socio-economic exchange, which fosters better understanding, knowledge, and education overall. Heritage is also promoted and understood by every country at a global level.

However, there are several disadvantages of tourism as well. Growth in tourism means a higher chance of illegal activities and crime, especially theft, since tourists bring valuables in their wake. Secondly, foreign tourists often damage and vandalize places of national interest and importance. They often litter areas while damaging natural resources and beautiful spots simultaneously. They are often ignorant about social and legal conventions in foreign countries and end up violating the same in some situations. Tourism also opens up avenues for illegal migration and trading illegal items at times. However, despite all these disadvantages, I firmly believe that the advantages surpass them in every sense of the term. (339 words)

In conclusion, tourism undeniably plays a critical role in the global economy and cultural exchange, offering substantial benefits such as economic growth, cultural preservation, and international understanding. However, it also poses challenges including environmental impact, cultural commodification, and economic dependence. Balancing these advantages and disadvantages requires sustainable and responsible tourism practices that respect local cultures, protect natural environments, and promote equitable economic benefits. As the world continues to become increasingly interconnected, understanding and addressing the complexities of tourism is essential for preserving its positive impacts while mitigating its negative effects. This nuanced approach to tourism, embracing both its benefits and challenges, is key to ensuring that it remains a positive force in our global society. Read More About IELTS:

Travel to Remote Natural Environments

by Olena Dmytriieva (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia)

tourism essay writing

Can anyone give feedback on my writing. Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic. What are the advantages and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places? It is generally said that humans are always striving to enrich their learnings through exploring new places. It may be the reason that more people tend to visit remote places where living conditions are harsh with difficult accessibility. There are advantages and disadvantages in this approach. Exploration of these places equips humans with realities and true meaning of their lives. One may learn his own capabilities and limitations. They may also satisfy their self-actualization needs and get to know themselves. Siberia is such example, where despite of difficult situations people tends to visit and upon returning, they contribute more positively to their own communities. When large number of people come to these places, it is also good for their local economy. Many businesses grow with influx of tourism industry and it brings positive impact of lives of residence. For example, there are now many tour operator companies are going to launch their business in Sahara Desserts and many new jobs are created in area. Some disadvantages are also associated with this, if more people are visiting these places than it becomes difficult for Government to ensure their safety. As these area lacks basic infrastructure hence more lives are put in danger. Most people are not fully experienced to survive in these brutal conditions and they add more burden on local services. Secondly, most visitors don’t take care of local customs and annoy local communities. To conclude, we may say that when tourists visit to isolated lands, it improvises themselves and brings positive changes of local community. But at the same it brings challenges for local community.

Travel to Remote Places Essay

by Sepideh (Iran)

Nowadays, scientists and tourists can travel to remote natural environments such as the South Pole. What are advantages and disadvantages of this development? Over the past few years , there seems to have been a significant increase in tourist trips to the places where conditions are difficult or unbearable such as the Sahara desert or Antarctic, This type of tourism is expected to become more popular in the upcoming coming years. But like any emerging phenomenon, it also has several advantages and disadvantages. I will try my best to elaborate on each of them briefly. Let’s take a look at the advantageous of traveling to Sahara or Antartica: Based on the latest statistics from Columbia University which was done on 300 volunteers, it was concluded that traveling to remote areas can be extremely dangerous due to various reasons. In fact, trip to difficult and remote areas such as Sahara desert or Antarctic can reduce the stress and anxiety of tourists. In addition, tourists can challenge their will and power by going to these areas. Dr. LeoFang ( 2009 ) , who is a psychologist at the Wolford Clinic in Tennessee, conducted several scientific studies which published the results in the American Psychological Association shows that people are frustrated with life after traveling to difficult and remote areas feel more empowered in life an increase life expectancy in them. Traveling to remote areas has some drawbacks: Traveling to remote areas such as Sahara desert or Antarctic can be extremely deadly to the traveler because the harsh nature of these areas contrasts with the urban spirit and comfort that tourists are accustomed to. Besides, any injuries or damage to the body due to the distance from the hospital can be dangerous for the injured person. another problem with such trips is that they are limited to natural attractions. Tourists cannot enjoy other aspects of tourist trips such as shopping malls and historic centers and Etc. In conclusion, traveling to the desert, which is becoming more and more popular among tourists every day, has some advantages and disadvantages that tourists can pay attention to them when deciding to make such trips to have a more comfortable and pleasant trip.

Importance of Tourism Essay

by Preet (Amritsar)

Many developing countries place a lot of importance on tourism. Why is this? Do you think that this is a positive or negative development? Owing to over interest in the tourism, individuals are gaining lot of knowledge.which rises the inclination of people towards belief that it has a devastating impact on them.others, however including I harbour the thought that it is positive infested to them. In the starting paragraph with this statement people believe that the importance of the tourism in the developing countries is more instead of poorer countries. Initially, although, tourism is liked just for enjoyment by certain people still some individuals think that they adapt to new knowledge by travelling .for example when individuals go to any cultural place, they can know about culture and moral values along with history.as a result, they can explore their knowledge.what is another factor? apparently, during the travel time individuals meet with new people.various kinds of language are learned by person because when they meet with new people they try to speak language of them.consequently, they enhance their communication skills. On the other hand, if developing countries give more important on tourism, the life experiences would increase because when person go to another country l.they not only learn about new language but also adapt diverse kinds of things such as how to treat with another and learn many kinds of traveling experience. hence, the tourism have positive effect on them. The cynics of the aforementioned notion, on the other hand, oppose the view, they are of the opinion that if the most people travel from one country to another country. the environment pollution would rise with it because they would travel on any vehicle not by walking.therefore, people would reduce the tourism. To epitomise, indeed somehow I strongly believe that tourism is beneficial for exploring knowledge still devastating effects it had on environment are such that neglecting them would be considered folly.

Pros and Cons of International Tourism

by patricia (Indonesia)

International tourism has brought enormous benefit to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages? In some countries, tourism plays a big role in keeping their economy stable. Places like Greece, Maldives, and Malta rely heavily on international visits due to the fact that other industries have not been much developed in those areas. Although it dose pose a concerning risk environmentally and locally, I would say that the benefits are far greater than the disadvantages. To begin, international tourism brings a lot of money to the country. Plane tickets, visas, and other accommodations brings income to the country in the form of tax, this supports the economic growth, allowing more money to circulate in the market. Furthermore, as tourist needs a lot of services, it opens a lot of business prospects to the locals. Places like hotels, villas, and restaurants are needed for the guests, these places are also a way to decrease unemployment rate as they need a lot of human resources to run. International tourists are also beneficial as they can promote the various tourism spots to other people. Publication of the areas can lead to more visits allowing popularity to rise. Tourists may also experience the cultural differences, allowing it to be more well-known internationally. Of course not everything in international tourism is beneficial, the minus point is it increases the risk of environment damage and interference in local communities. Pollution, excessive land-use, and waste are some of the threats coming from the guests. This can disturb local residents as they are the ones who will have to bear the consequences of this damaging behavior. In conclusion, international tourism poses great advantages to both the government and local communities. However, to eliminate the downside, strict rules and punishments are needed to ensure the environment and people living in the area are not being disturbed.
