Answer: Natural disaster is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of Earth, which includes floods, volcanic eruption, earthquakes, or other geological processions. A natural disaster can cause loss of life or property and leaves economic damage in its wake. The severity of the damage depends on the affected population’s resilience, or ability to recover.

The flood of 2010 in Pakistan was a natural disaster that it has faced in hundred years or more. It was even greater calamity or catastrophe as compared to Asian Tsunami, the mighty storm in America or earthquake here in Pakistan. The floods began in July after the heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Sindh and Lower Punjab. Around one-fifth of the total area came under flood storm. Twenty million people lost their shelters and many lost their lives. The affected people had to leave their houses to stay on high grounds under natural shelter and hastily arrange camps. The heavy monsoon rains filled the waterways and rivers beyond their capacity.

The government sent rescue teams and medical teams to the affected areas after the calamity to rehabilitate the affectees. Furthermore, the government built small dams on the waterways and raised the embankments by putting common people on work. In this way, the floodwater was stored for future use.

There is a visible comparison between spending leisure time indoors, playing video games and outdoors doing physical activities. This is a very common notion to compare video games with outdoor games. In addition, most people view that outdoor games are better than video games in spite of themselves being so addicted to their gadgets. However, generally, both are equally valuable. Although, outdoor activities are aerobic, even if a person simply takes up walking means that energy is burnt off which helps to increase physical fitness. It provides people with energetic actions and different sightseeing in the circumstances of pure, fresh environment.

On the contrary, our modern civilization has a tendency to confine the individual in limited space with overwhelming works that build up the stress. It is that the outdoor atmosphere is more relaxed than the constant-pressure space. Spending time outside, far from computers, video games, phones and radiation they involve, would be more beneficial for their health, relieving stress and refreshing your body and mind.

Outdoor activities that involve games are just as competitive as video games, and so are good for people psychologically. Encouraging healthy competition is what helps people strive to be better. They do not stimulate logic and problem-solving elements in the mind but does stimulate thinking elements in the brain. It also helps to build a mind to body coordination, whereas video games only stimulate hand-to-eye coordination.

Video games are able to stimulate the intellect and help to teach people how to focus on one task for hours. It gives a psychological reward for extended concentration and effort. Video games stimulate the competitive urge in people, making them more open to real-world competition. Competition is healthy and therefore it is a good thing to stimulate it as much as possible.

It seems obvious that a person should indulge in both video games and outdoor activities in equal measure. Just like any form of recreation, an excess of everything is bad. A healthy mix of outdoor activities and video games is going to be healthy and positive for both adults and children

Text Messaging to Personal Conversation

Why do people text? Most of us will be of opinion that they text to save their time. More and more people are foregoing the process of making phone calls or going for personal conversation. They put their fingers on good use to text instead. People savvy the idea of texting than to have a personal conversation as it saves time as well as money. Convenience can be a blessing but too much of a good thing is never ideal. Although texting aims to accomplish the same task, texting can have dire consequences if not used in moderation.

Old-fashioned personal conversations are more sincere. They allow people to talk on a personal level. Nathan Freier, a professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute informs that the more richly you engage someone, the more potential there is for embarrassment. This is a valid statement and because phone calls are more intimate, it makes sense that there is a greater chance for embarrassment. On the other hand, short text messages relieve kids of that anxiety. Embarrassment is an emotion that most people try to avoid. However, should it be avoided to the extent that people do not learn how to deal with it? It is a known fact that handling embarrassment and other messy feelings are a necessary part of dealing with others. It is a skill that a child has to learn. With the rapid rise of texting, it looks as if children will never learn these important life lessons.

A study suggests that we have some reason to be concerned that too much texting could lead to temporary or permanent damage to the thumbs. In contrast, a normal conversation does not require the use of anything but the voice. By calling people instead of texting, people can avoid straining themselves and dealing with consequences that may accumulate over time. Many worry that texting is replacing actual conversations. Both texting and phone calls are aimed to accomplish the same goal: to help people stay connected. It is surprising to see how two very similar ideas can have very different consequences. Texting is an epidemic that is not going to disappear any time soon. It will continue to spread and trap even more people. It is unfortunate, but the world will inevitably have to accept that texting is a new way of talking.
