I am an art teacher and professional artist, so naturally, many people ask me questions about learning how to draw. And some of the questions I hear most are about finding good books that can teach you to draw – so, in this article, I will share my recommendations for the best books you can find to help you to learn drawing!

By Jacy Corral
Like the 101 Animals book above, this is a very simple, step-by-step workbook that doesn’t confuse your kids with abstract ideas but instead lets the concepts and techniques come to them naturally by simply drawing and seeing what appears.
By Alli Koch
The perfect next step for younger kids, this book still stays away from concepts and boring explanations, but expands your child’s understanding and technique simply by covering a wider range of objects and subjects and very slightly more advanced practice.
Older Kids, Teens, and Teenagers

For older kids, this is a fantastic book for learning and practicing – it teaches you basic concepts clearly and easily and gives tons of fun exercises and clear illustrations.

Plants, Animals, and Nature

By Lee J Ames

A fun and positive primer on learning to draw that stresses than anybody can draw, and everybody has hidden artistic talent – a wonderful book and a great place to start.
By Mark and Mary Willenbrink
This highly popular book focuses on technique, down to the most basic strokes and movements, in order to not just teach but encourage you with great results quickly – this book really does lead to beautiful and very realistic renderings in a short time!
By Carrie Stuart Parks & Rick Parks
Both a great beginner’s drawing book and a way to naturally and effectively reach higher levels and make your drawings more realistic and advanced.
We should note, before jumping in with this more in-depth and thorough list of books, that these are all very special and effective volumes for teaching and advancing intermediate artists and drawing students, but at the same time they are all great for beginners as well.
So if you are really an absolute beginner, with little or no experience, you might want to start with one of the above books, or pick something from the first section here – General Drawing Techniques.
But even if you are a beginner, if you’ve got a bit of experience already, and have been practicing with some good and encouraging results – or if you’re just a natural genius! – it might be interesting to read the various sections below and select a book or two on areas that interest you, or ones you might need a bit of help with.
And if you’re more of an intermediate artist, or even fairly advanced, any of the below books can move you on to much higher levels, and at the same time help you really understand drawing and art more clearly and completely.
General Drawing Techniques
By Harold Speed
A true classic, Speed’s book takes a unique approach in balancing absolute understanding of all basic techniques and the technical aspects of drawing against the artist’s own personal vision.
A great book, then, for not just realistic drawing exercises and learning the whole art and practice of drawing, but also blooming as an artist, and one that has for countless people lead to delightfully successful drawing.
Discover simple step-by-step techniques for drawing a wide variety of subjects in pencil (Collector's Series)
One of the very best and most complete books on basic drawing skills, The Art of Basic Drawing covers basic forms, objects, scenes, people and wildlife, along the way teaching many invaluable tricks and techniques and helping you develop your artistic vision and define your own individual approach.
A book that I know mostly through recommendations from others, Barber’s illustrated Fundamentals of Drawing is praised for its completeness, its clear descriptions of both concepts and techniques, and how it helps you understand what drawing is all about.
Frank M. Rines
An advanced primer on pencil drawing , Rines’ book offers advice and techniques which can prove equally applicable to other media, traditional or digital, as well.
Accuracy, discipline and completeness are the emphasis, but this book somehow never fails to be fun and inspirational. Mostly, though, it is extremely effective, and can make a big difference for any intermediate or advanced artist.
By Rudy De Reyna
Another true classic, and one of the most widely known and beloved of all art instruction books , How to Draw What You See has been a best-seller for fifty years and a blessing for all sorts of visual artists.
Best described as a book for basic, intermediate and advanced techniques and artists, it is especially valuable in its treatment of two crucial areas: seeing and understanding how things appear; and moving from drawing into other media.
Human Figure and Anatomy
By Stephen Rogers Peck
This is arguably the most complete and accurate life drawing reference for any artist who really wants to see how a human body is put together, how it occupies space and how it moves.
Detailed illustrations and descriptions help you understand how a body really looks, from the inside and outside, allowing you to draw figures with true insight and, as a result, startling accuracy.
Join me in the class, where I take you through the journey of making your characters more lively, expressive, and dynamic, by using simple shapes and drawing poses and gestures.
A less detailed and exhaustive reference than the Atlas mentioned above, Hampton’s brilliant book on figure drawing, focuses more on the actual techniques you can use to translate deep understanding of human anatomy and structure into actual drawing.
An excellent book unto itself for learning how to draw figures and gesture drawing, this is ideally combined with Peck’s volume to make an unbeatable learning and reference set.
By Andrew Loomis
Revered by professional artists and art teachers and professors, Andrew Loomis’ figure drawing books are some of the best books you can wish for as an artist! It is beautifully made and it will teach you to draw figures, gesture drawing in a simple and straightforward way.
Perspective, Space and Relationships
Join me in the class, where I take you through hands-on examples of basic perspective rules so you can improve your artworks.
By Ernest R. Norling
An incredibly simple book, covering one of the most important of all aspects of drawing, Perspective Made Easy is a masterpiece of repetitive drawing exercises, clear explanation and complete coverage of this crucial subject.
Another great Dover Art Instruction book, and a must-have for any artist on any level!
By John Montague
One of the most complete books available for teaching perspective, Montague’s Basic Perspective Drawing is written in a clear, friendly manner from a true authority in the field.
More advanced than the title may suggest, this is nonetheless a book that start at the most basic level, but one you may well keep, and keep referring to, throughout your life.
Pen and Ink Drawing
Learn the basics of drawing with pen, various drawing techniques, create amazing art and nurture your creativity. Watch on Skillshare!
The Classic Book On Pen and Ink Techniques for Artists, Illustrators, Architects, and Designers
By Arthur Guptill
The cover of this classic tome, its 60th Anniversary Edition newly edited by Susan Meyer, claims that this is “the most comprehensive book ever published on the subject of ink drawing,” and there is no doubt in my mind this is true.
It is arguably the very best teaching book as well.
With rich and abundant illustrations and clear instructions and explanations, Rendering in Pen and Ink is both fun and enormously useful for absolute beginners and professionals alike.
By Alphonso Dunn
Shorter and more concise than Guptill’s exhaustive primer, this delightful book covers every aspect of pen and ink drawing with real clarity, and has in a short time become one of the most beloved and well-reviewed art books available.
Nature and Landscape
Learn to draw animals, including various drawing techniques, create amazing art and nurture your creativity. Watch on Skillshare!
By Charles R. Knight
Like the human anatomy books above, Knight’s Animal Drawing: Anatomy and Action for Artists provides a deep understanding of the way animals are put together, how they move and how they appear in the world.
Valuable for this, and for the detailed and easy to understand instructions he provides, this book is perhaps most important for its countless examples of animals drawn with life, energy, accuracy and personality.
Join me in the class, where I take you through fun exercises and demos, so you can explore different ways to create beautiful floral designs.
200 Step-by-Step Flowers, Leaves, Cacti, Succulents, and Other Items Found in Nature
By Peggy Dean
This beautiful book teaches how to accurately draw plants, flowers, vines and leaves, but from the slightly different viewpoint of an illustrator.
In this way, it is a super helpful book for both the aspiring nature artist and the aspiring illustrator, illuminating each side with the techniques and perspectives of the other.
Learn to draw landscapes, including various drawing techniques, create amazing art and nurture your creativity. Watch on Skillshare!
Master the Concepts and Methods for Observing and Rendering Nature
By Suzanne Brooker
An excellent treatise on seeing things as they actually appear, on using simplicity to render complexity, and on learning, practicing and mastering both time-honored and new drawing techniques, Brooker’s new book is perhaps the best available for learning landscape drawing, as well as a great work for learning drawing in general, applicable to pretty much any subject matter.
Digital and Computer Drawing
Our last set of recommendations is a bit of a tricky one. I don’t think learning drawing on a computer, phone or tablet is the right approach – it is far, far better to learn to draw with a pencil , or pen and ink, and paper.
So instead, in this place, I will recommend that you learn to draw and paint digitally following the hands-on classes on Skillshare:
Master the digital drawing software, learn the digital illustration techniques, improve your workflow and grow your creative business. Watch on Skillshare!
Why is Drawing So Important?
I am safe to say that drawing, specifically drawing practice, is the most important basic skill any artist can have.
It doesn’t matter if you want to create comics, manga, or anime characters, if you want to become a painter, an animator, an illustrator, if you’re into digital art, whatever you want to do – if you learn them, the basics of the drawing will help you all the time, and make everything you do better – and more fun!
You may not even realize it, but when you learn how to draw the right way – whether from an online course, a book, or in person with a teacher – at the same time, you are learning a little bit of every single aspect of making art, including:
- Realistic shapes and objects – animals, buildings, nature, people, and characters
- Perspective , relative size, and relationship
- Light, shadow, and color
- Surfaces and Textures
- Movement and Flow
- Shape and Size
- Capturing Energy and Life
- Overall Composition
- Seeing with an Artist’s Eye
The great news is that drawing can be easy to learn with the right book (or even the right teacher or class), and you can have a great time doing it.
What is the Best Way to Learn How to Draw?
I would say that the best way to learn to draw depends on your level:
If you’re just starting out, like a beginner , or if you’ve never had any lessons, you’re going to need to practice – and it’s wonderful if the practice and exercises lead to really cool and beautiful results right away.
This makes practice and learning more fun, keeps you encouraged, and keeps you going, and you’ll learn faster and faster.
And if you’re more intermediate , practice is still important, and fun and productive lessons are great, but they should reveal new things and help you understand more advanced stuff.
The best intermediate teaching will, for example, let you see perspective and relationships open up before you while you’re drawing, or shape and shading, or energy and movement, so you can master them and understand them at the same time.
Some people seem to learn better with a teacher, and others seem to do really well with books, so it just depends.
Anyway, you probably already have a pretty good idea if you would do better on your own or by taking a class.
But even if you like working with a teacher – online or in person – it seems that most people can also learn well with the right book on drawing.
And even if you are taking a class, having a good book for learning drawing – as a backup, for practice exercises, and to get new ideas – can be a great idea!
But whichever way you go, getting the best books and/or the best classes is good.
Although this is an article on drawing books, let’s take a moment to talk about a couple of really great online learning platforms, which will help learn the basics, better understand some of the concepts of drawing, and of art in general, and even take you to more advanced techniques – if you want, and when you’re ready.
I am a big fan of Skillshare , a wonderful online art learning platform. I am so proud to be a part of this community as a teacher, and you can find lots of my own classes there – including beginner courses on drawing people, composition, perspective, and digital drawing – but there are tons more teachers and so many great art classes available.

I also enjoy and partner with the Evolve Artist Program , which is great for beginners but is a kind of complete approach, taking you from the most basic basics to full mastery in drawing, painting, and all aspects of art, in an amazingly well developed, well produced and well-presented series of classes.
So if you just want some basic instruction, or just a single class or two, please check out Skillshare, or even look at some of my own classes through my website’s Classes Page , and if you want a full art education, I think Evolve is about as good as it gets!
People also have a lot of success and fun with classes on the Udemy and Domestika learning platforms, which both have a big variety of classes on drawing and art, so you might want to check them out as well.
Yes, absolutely – and in fact, people have been learning how to draw from books for as long as there have been books – well, not quite, maybe, but for a long, long time, and they keep getting better and better!
Good drawing books will be nicely illustrated with examples of exactly what you are learning and practicing and will present the ideas and exercises so simply and clearly that you can understand immediately and get to drawing.
And the best drawing books will be really fun to read, use and learn from – this to me is ultra-important, because if you are enjoying the learning process you will stay more connected and encouraged, you’ll keep practicing and keep going.
So let’s look at some really great choices, from the most basic to more advanced, with this curated list of the very best drawing books on the market today!
The best drawing book for beginners is You Can Draw in 30 Days by Mark Kistler because it takes you on a step-by-step journey of drawing popular subjects, building your confidence along the way.
Yes, if you get a good drawing book, it can do wonders to teach you the basics of drawing and also help you improve your artistic talent. My favorite drawing book is The Fundamentals of Drawing: A Complete Professional Course for Artists by Barrington Barber.
Anybody can learn the basics of drawing from a good book, and the best books will also teach you how to see like an artist and appreciate and develop your own artistic talent. I recommend the drawing book The Fundamentals of Drawing: A Complete Professional Course for Artists by Barrington Barber to start with.
I hope my guide helped you to find the best drawing book for you or the artist in your life and I especially hope that you, I, and all of us continue to do what makes us happy and that none of us ever stops learning!

The Big List of Free Drawing Resources: Educational Books, Videos, Podcasts & More
By Rose Welty in Art Tutorials > Drawing Tips
Today’s post contains quite a few resources for anyone interested in learning to draw at a college level without paying an expensive tuition. It’s also the second post in my series on getting an art education for free .
I’ll start off by discussing a few of the most basic, yet time-honored resources for artists—the classic drawing textbook.
Drawing textbooks available for free online
Many college drawing courses require their students to purchase textbooks on drawing to use as a resource. If you’re studying alone it’s a good idea to use the table of contents of one of these books as a syllabus for your study.
The first four books that I’ve listed below are available for free online. Some may have copyrighted images in them (which won’t be displayed) but the text is all there.
1. Master Class in Figure Drawing by Robert Beverly Hale.
2. The Practice and Science of Drawing by Harold Speed.
3. Line and Form by Walter Crane.
4. Outdoor Sketching by Francis Hopkinson Smith (series of four lectures).
Other “how to draw” books you can buy for cheap
The following books are not free, but can often be found very cheaply in used bookstores or online (and are well-worth the price).
Articles explaining various methods of drawing
Each of the books I just mentioned cover a broad spectrum of information about drawing. These next few articles that I found online are much more specific and focus on individual drawing techniques in more manageable chunks. They will also provide a slightly different perspective.
1. Contour Drawing Excercise by Nancy Doyle.
2. Mass Drawing Excercise by Nancy Doyle (includes historic examples).
3. Gesture drawing Excercise by Nancy Doyle (also with historic example).
4. Advice on sketching animals from Gary Geraths of Otis College.
5. Art Studio Chalkboard by Ralph Larmann (several lessons on drawing).
6. Drawing the human form also by Ralph Larmann.
Podcasts by artists, gallery owners, and historians
One of the advantages of attending art school is being in a community and learning from others. If you’re studying on your own, that isn’t usually possible. . . but to my delight, I’ve discovered that some museums are now beginning to offer free lectures online (called podcasts) about their collections and special exhibits.
1. MoMA has a large podcast library about their collection and exhibits.
2. National Portrait Gallery in Washington has a podcast listing .
Ideally you would listen to these podcasts in preparation for a visit, but if that isn’t possible, you could also listen to them and look at images of the works being discussed online or in a book.
This sort of experience is extremely valuable because it helps to hear other people—art historians, conservators, gallery owners, other artists, etc—talking about art. It will give you an idea of how art is discussed and analyzed.
“How-to draw” videos on YouTube
I’ve found that there are a ton of art-related videos on YouTube labeled as “how-to” videos, yet many of these are really only slideshows of the artist’s work.
After a little digging, however, I did come up with a few videos that were similar to a college-level drawing session.
1. YouTube video of Gary Geraths drawing from life .
2. YouTube video of Barry Fahr (also of Otis College) cross contour drawing .
3. In fact, Otis College Foundation has quite a big video library on YouTube
Each of those videos is the sort of thing that you might see in a drawing lab when your instructor is demonstrating particular techniques that he wants you to practice.
Drawings by famous artists
In any discipline, “seeing how it is done well” is key to learning to do it yourself, so below I’ve included some online galleries of famous draughtsmen.
If you’re serious about improving your drawing skills, part of your study time should be spent copying (for educational purposes only) some great artists of the past.
1. Salvador Dali’s drawings at Dali-Gallery.com
2. Rembrandt’s drawings at RembrandtPainting.net
3. A collection of 19th century French masters drawings
4. Rubens’ drawings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
5. “A Century of Drawing” exhibit at the National Gallery of Art
Of course, you can just as easily search for any famous artist on Google and find at least a few of their drawings online.
Viewing them in person might be better, but this is really the next best thing. Occasionally you’ll be able to zoom in and inspect the drawing up close—something that you probably couldn’t do in real life.
Additional lists of drawing resources on the internet
If you’re looking for more online resources, the two sites listed below contain a lot of links related to drawing instruction, some of it free and some not. Both are very extensive, so be prepared to spend some time going through them.
1. Katherine Tyrrell’s Drawing and Sketching Resources for Artists .
2. CG Society’s extensive list of drawing tutorials and workshops .
Have a drawing tutorial or article to add? Send it in!
Obviously no listing of resources is ever truly complete, although I do hope I’ve given you a solid foundation to start with. If you’d like to suggest a link that should be included in this post, please submit it via the contact form .

ART EDUCATION BOOKS
Looking for art education books that cultivate creativity and the development of skills? The following 6 books not only do that but also introduce children to a variety of tools and materials. They provide you with ideas to ignite children’s imaginations and show you how to introduce new techniques, artistic styles and artists in ways that keep children interested.
Art education books generally fall into one of three categories. The first category is for adults, to help them learn how to teach art to children, the second category is for children, and allow them to follow easy step-by-step instructions on how to draw or how to do other types of artwork. The third category is written for children and their purpose is to educate children about great artists and their styles.
1. Drawing with Children
Drawing with Children, by Mona Brookes, is one of my favorite art education books and a must read for anyone teaching art to children. It presents easy-to-follow lessons for building artistic skills and for using drawing in other subjects.
Children learn to draw the basics that can be combined to make a whole object and develop spatial awareness. The book is an important, foundational tool for children who are learning to see things as an artist sees them.
2. How to Teach Art to Children
This book offers basic lessons for teaching the elements of art – line, shape, color, value, texture, form and space. After basic lessons, children create a variety of projects emphasizing the art element.
The projects are easy to do with a minimum of basic materials: watercolors or acrylic paints, glue, colored construction paper, and markers. If you already have a good understanding of art elements and artists, this book may not be for you.
3. Follow the Directions & Draw It all by Yourself
This book helps kids learn shapes and builds fine motor skills. Kids love drawing easy pictures of dinosaurs, butterflies, and more on their own. They can work through step-by-step pictures by themselves and experience success. Contains 25 reproducible lessons and reinforces the skill of following directions. Use this along with the step by step drawing pages.
Buy “Follow the Directions & Draw It All by Yourself!: 25 Easy, Reproducible Lessons
4. Storybook Art
Teaching art with picture books is a fun way to teach art. MaryAnne Kohl is a well-known writer of art education books and in this one, she provides simple art projects based on the art of children’s book illustrators. I like the open-ended art projects. Illustration techniques include painting, drawing, cutting and collage, and construction and crafts.
5. Art with Anything
This is one of MaryAnn Kohl’s newer books and it includes 52 weeks of making art with everyday stuff. It’s a great book for those days you need a quick idea for teaching art to children.
6. Claude Monet and 48 other artists!
There are about 48 books in the series.
They are a great series of books called, Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Artists that are designed to teach children about great artists.

Creative Form Drawing: Workbook 1 (Creative Form Drawing Workbooks, 1) Paperback – June 1, 1990
Purchase options and add-ons.
The author's three workbooks offer a thorough, step-by-step guide to form drawing. As Brunelleschi, the Renaissance architect said, "The lines and forms are visible signs of divine gestures. Learn to understand them and you will comprehend how God created the world."
Anyone wanting to develop their drawing skills, including artists, teachers, and students, will enjoy the creative challenge of form drawing. Regular practice can help discover what the art of line can mean. Drawing skills are developed through systematic exercises, and can develop self-confidence, balance, and tranquillity. Simple form drawing is used inWaldorf schools as a companion discipline to handwriting and drawing skills. It offers a healthy antidote to screen culture.
Form drawing is an artistic activity using the art of line. It dates back to the ancient mysteries and flourished in the early Middle Ages as well as wood and stone carvings all over Europe, such as the Celtic sun crosses. Form drawing is found in many tribal cultures as the ornamentation of the body, clothes and buildings.

Editorial Reviews
"This book must be read with paper and pencil. When it calls itself a workbook that's what it really means; with a refreshing minimum of philosophical baggage the book proceeds into exercises. Beginning with the most 'simple' exercises - the straight line and the wavy line - the work unfolds in four stages that allow any person to follow a fundamental path of outer evolution and inner discipline."

The Science of Drawing and Memory
Want students to remember something? Ask them to draw it.
It’s long been known that drawing something helps a person remember it. A new study shows that drawing is superior to activities such as reading or writing because it forces the person to process information in multiple ways: visually, kinesthetically, and semantically. Across a series of experiments, researchers found drawing information to be a powerful way to boost memory, increasing recall by nearly double.
Myra Fernandes, Jeffrey Wammes, and Melissa Meade are experts in the science of memory—how people encode, retain, and recall information. At the University of Waterloo, they conducted experiments to better understand how activities such as writing, looking at pictures, listening to lectures, drawing, and visualizing images affect a student’s ability to remember information.
In an early experiment, they asked undergraduate students to study lists of common terms—words like truck and pear —and then either write down or illustrate those words. Shortly afterward, participants recalled 20 percent of words they had written down, but more than twice as many—45 percent—of the terms they had drawn. This experiment helped to establish the benefits of drawing.
In a follow-up experiment, the researchers compared two methods of note-taking—writing words by hand versus drawing concepts—and found drawing to be “an effective and reliable encoding strategy, far superior to writing.” The researchers found that when the undergraduates visually represented science concepts like isotope and spore , their recall was nearly twice as good as when they wrote down definitions supplied by the lecturer.
Importantly, the benefits of drawing were not dependent on the students’ level of artistic talent, suggesting that this strategy may work for all students, not just ones who are able to draw well.
Across a total of eight experiments, the researchers confirmed drawing to be a “reliable, replicable means of boosting performance”—it provided a significant boost to students’ ability to remember what they were learning.
Why is drawing such a powerful memory tool? The researchers explain that it “requires elaboration on the meaning of the term and translating the definition to a new form (a picture).” Unlike listening to a lecture or viewing an image—activities in which students passively absorb information—drawing is active. It forces students to grapple with what they’re learning and reconstruct it in a way that makes sense to them.
The researchers also suggest that drawing results in better recall because of how the information is encoded in memory. When a student draws a concept, they “must elaborate on its meaning and semantic features, engage in the actual hand movements needed for drawing (motor action), and visually inspect [the] created picture (pictorial processing).”
At a neural level, the strength of a memory depends largely on how many connections are made to other memories. An isolated piece of information—such as a trivial fact—is soon forgotten in the brain’s constant effort to prune away unused knowledge. The opposite, however, is also true: The more synaptic connections a memory has, the more it resists eventually being forgotten.
So when we draw, we encode the memory in a very rich way, layering together the visual memory of the image, the kinesthetic memory of our hand drawing the image, and the semantic memory that is invoked when we engage in meaning-making. In combination, this greatly increases the likelihood that the concept being drawn will later be recalled.
This Is Not About Learning Styles
It would be a mistake to think that drawing is beneficial because it taps into a particular learning style. Research has debunked the idea that students learn best when teachers try to match instruction to a single modality.
Instead, what’s happening is that drawing taps into multiple modalities—visual, kinesthetic, and semantic—which is superior to tapping into only one. When students draw something, they process it in three different ways, in effect learning it three times over.
In the Classroom
There are several ways that teachers can incorporate drawing to enrich learning.
- Student-created learning aids: Instead of buying or printing posters that reinforce learning—maps, anchor charts, or diagrams—have students create them .
- Interactive notebooks: Don’t let students take notes verbatim— push them to be creative . One side of their notebooks can be used for written notes, the other for drawings, diagrams, and charts.
- Data visualization: Asking students to collect, analyze, and present data in visual form can deepen their understanding of a topic. Examples include visualizing concepts in math , analyzing classical literature , and exploring fractals .
- Bookmaking: Blending academics and art, students at Symonds Elementary create their own books to visually represent topics in subjects ranging from science to English language arts. Students can also create comics books to tell stories or describe events.
- Assessing learning through art: Jill Fletcher, a middle school teacher in Hawaii, uses “ one-pagers ” to challenge students to show their understanding about a topic through art, making it less about finding the “single correct answer” and more about crafting a response they can stand behind. And students at Normal Park Museum Magnet School create travel journals as a visible record of their learning.
The takeaway: Encourage students to draw. Doing so is a powerful tool to boost student learning because it improves recall by challenging students to explore an idea in different ways.

Drawing Websites for Schools
Let’s explore some of the best drawing websites that students can use in school:

It’s a fascinating glimpse into AI technology, but with a light-hearted twist. The game is straightforward and incredibly engaging, though it might not always guess correctly. This adds to the fun, providing laughter and surprises as you challenge the AI with your doodles. Quick Draw is a delightful experiment at the intersection of creativity and technology.

This tool is designed to make visual creation fast, easy, and accessible to everyone, everywhere. Whether you’re on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, AutoDraw offers a seamless experience without the need for downloads or payments.
The magic lies in its suggestion tool, which cleverly uses machine learning to predict and refine what you’re trying to draw, offering you a range of artistic possibilities provided by talented artists. AutoDraw opens the world of creativity to everyone, making it more accessible and enjoyable. Whether you’re doodling for fun or working on a project, AutoDraw is your go-to for bringing ideas to life quickly and easily.

The 1865 Confederation Debates: Index
* THIS CONCEPT IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE *
Gracious, academic concept for an intensive literary work
This book cover was for an academic work marrying the works of famous writers "The Inklings" with King Arthur. The ampersand was custom made to combine the two elements; and the border around the edge adds a sense of classical timelessness.
Conceptual cover for a classic semiotics academic book
As a fan of semiotics myself I was immediately drawn to this contest. The idea of uncovering true meaning of things through analysis is a very rich topic for graphic exploration. While many different concepts have been explored during the contest this particular one managed to capture the ideas of analysis (presented as the maze) and understanding (simplified eye in the center) most efficiently.

Book Cover Contest Winner
The concept for this design is to get over challenge, as i thought writing college essay is a challenge itself. And it came with this illustration, a boy and a girl vaulting over the title. I played with the keyhole to depict "hacked". The pet things are the fun elements on this design, and so with bright colors. The purpose of bright colors and fun elements is to attract the target market of this book (young boys and girls who want to go to college). The pet things also relevant with the title too.

A lone man facing the light at the end of the path surrounded by virgin nature, all in olive green colours. She Loves Science book cover
A book for moms to help guide their daughters into a love for science. I approached the cover from a technology standpoint and focusing on the idea of possibilities and the future. All items mentioned in the books tagline. The "robot" has a feminine feel which adds to the female concept of the cover and also has a hope and confidence in her expression. Starry background was added to give another level of science and progress and the colors coordinate well with eyes which draw you into the cover. Scientific symbols faded into the background add interest and complexity. Font is in clean white san serif font that has a modern feel, yet scientific and feminine at the same time. The heart in the O...gives a personal element and gives it a slightly more playful and childlike feel.
Digital photography book
This cover is minimal open and clean to put all of the focus on the photography. The two images chosen work well together because they have a similar concept in line and silhouette but also have contrast with one warm and one cool color. The font has a technological feel and is bold and easy to read in all caps. A repeating arrow element adds a graphic that can be used throughout the cover to create the feeling of a brand. Powerball jackpot reaches $1 billion as drawing for giant prize nears
DES MOINES, Iowa — A $1 billion Powerball jackpot will tempt lottery players Monday night who think they just might hit it rich after three months without a big winner.
The jackpot has reached $1 billion, marking the fifth time a Powerball prize has reached that level, game officials said in a news release.
No one has won Powerball's jackpot since New Year's Day, a stretch of 38 consecutive drawings without anyone matching the game's six numbers. If no one wins the jackpot Monday or Wednesday night, the game will match its record number of 41 consecutive drawings on Saturday night.
The reason for the jackpot drought is simple: The odds of winning the top prize are miserable, at 1 in 292.2 million. It's those odds that create the large jackpots that are designed to attract attention and drive up sales.
The $1 billion prize is for a sole winner who makes the rare decision to be paid over 30 years through an annuity. Nearly all winners instead take the cash option, which for Monday night's drawing would be $483.8 million.
Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
