Village life reflects the rural lifestyle and city life shows the urban lifestyle. Life in both rural and urban areas has its own plus points and problems. One is quite different from each other. Traditionally, India is a predominantly rural country as Mahatma Gandhi had said, “The real India lives in villages”. Though India is mainly a land of villages, there are many cities as well in the country.  Life in these big cities is quite different from life in a village. Let us consider, in brief, life in a big city and point out some of its important advantages and disadvantages.

Comparison: City life Vs Village life

The facility of education.

In big cities, there are good arrangements for education. The big college even universities are available.  There are also a very large number of school both government and private in the big city.  These arrangements do not exist in small towns and villages.

Medical Facility

Cities also provide sufficient medical facilities.  Almost in every city, there are good hospitals in which the poor get free medicines and treatment. Many qualified doctors are also there to serve the sick and the suffering. Indeed lack of such medical arrangement is the main drawback of villages.

Amusement and Recreation

Cities also provide many opportunities for amusement and recreation. In every city, there are a number of cinema houses and multiplexes, where we can enjoy with family. Also, a number of restaurants and hotels are available for better food of variety. There are also many parks and gardens where we can enjoy the best natural beauty. Villages are always lacking such facilities.

The Opportunity of Employment

The most important advantages of cities are the availability of huge opportunity for employment . They are centers of trade and commerce as well as offices of many multinational companies . Persons with different qualifications can easily find jobs to suit them.  In villages, employment is available mostly in farming. Due to farming, only seasonal jobs are available to a large population in villages.

Cities are having a variety of people from various cultures. But real India and its customs are highly visible in villages.

Natural Environment

It is fact villages are always natural due to be their self-creation by nature. On the other hand, most cities are manmade. Hence the natural environment of villages is their main attraction. In villages only we may have the charms of birds and flowers or the beauty of the day-dawn.

Pollution and Adulteration

City life is extremely unhealthy due to air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution . The people are not getting fresh air to breathe or the clear sky to enjoy the sunshine. Also, food in the cities is dirty, unhealthy and adulterated. The villages are very much away from such drawbacks.

Population and Other Issues

In city life is very costly. People have to live with a lot of pomp and show. A simple life as in the villages is almost impossible in the city. The sympathy and close interdependence which is marked in the village’s life is entirely lacking in the city.

Thus, life in villages and in cities presents two contrasting pictures. There are positive as well as negative aspects of both. Therefore it is up to the individual to make the most of it irrespective of the rural or urban setting that one lives in. I, myself, like to live in a village in the close vicinity of a modern city so that I can enjoy the pleasures both of the city and the village.

People living in rural areas are simple and lead a life following the traditional method of living without any modern amenities. The other side to its beauty is its difficulty. 

Villages are devoid of the comfort and facilities that are available in urban society. There is no source of entertainment and people need to arrange things on their own. Facilities like proper sewage areas, toilets, electricity, etc are also not available in villages. In spite of all such difficulties, people adjust to live a peaceful life in villages.

Village life is the most beautiful representation of hard work. It is considered as the backbone of the Nation. Villagers, especially farmers give their sweat and blood for the agricultural produce to satisfy the domestic as well as international consumers. Despite all this, the villagers had to face many challenges as they were deprived of the technological advancements as well as the facilities available in the urban area.

If we compare village life vs. city life, the lack of amenities, technological advancements, and industrial inference in the villages tend to create a fresh and pollution-free environment. On the other hand city life is very polluted owing to industrialization , urbanization, and heavy population.

People in the village lead a healthy, peaceful, and happy life. If the government introduced some policies and raised funds for the development of the rural sector and provided them with some basic amenities like hospitals, nursing homes, proper sanitation systems, sewage systems, schools, electricity, etc. then the village life would be much more comfortable. 

Talking about safety, the crime rates are lower in villages as compared to cities. Most of the people living in cities take some days off to spend their holidays in villages so that they can live in peace away from the chaos of city life. The honking of cars, pollution, traffic, work stress, etc is very stressful to deal with whereas in village life things are more simple and sorted because there is no chaos and people share a bond of brotherhood. 

The major section in India is dependent on agriculture for livelihood so they live in villages. Agriculture is a tough job and living in villages is also quite a challenge but people in villages lead a peaceful and simple life.

Village life is simple and economical. Owing to less industrial pollution in villages, the village environment is full of fresh air to breathe. Children can play freely and people share the feeling of brotherhood neglecting the religious boundaries.

Away from the chaos of city lights and traffic, village life is just the opposite. It is calm and free of noise and pollution. People in the village lead a simple life and are mainly involved in the agriculture sector.

The primary building materials in the villages are mud, clay, or bamboo. Hard work is a representation of village life. The whole population of the community is engaged in farming by trade and depends exclusively on agriculture for food and income. They have a routine of getting up early and working in the fields. We receive food every day due to the hard work of our farmers. Village people enjoy high stamina and health because they do a lot of physical work.

People in villages coexist peacefully and have mutual trust. Villages help to keep our customs and culture alive. The villagers are a picture of our culture. They carry out rites that have been observed for generations. In villages, crime is rare, and residents often leave their doors open at night. They also domesticate various animals, including cows, buffalo, hens, and goats. The government has started many programmes to strengthen the village's situation.

Education In Villages

Education should be given more weight in the villages. Despite the fact that villages are gradually opening schools, many of the villagers still choose to keep their children from school. They do not feel the need to educate the girl kid because they think she will have to take care of the home responsibilities. Most individuals only complete their primary or secondary education because most villages lack higher secondary institutions. The children must go to a big city to pursue graduation or post graduation. For fear of losing them, the majority of villagers are unwilling to send their children to the cities.

Village life is quite simple and peaceful. Because there are fewer technical advancements and industries to contaminate the environment, pollution levels are low in villages. The air is fresh enough to breathe. There are numerous areas where one can play or walk. In villages, there is no rush or traffic of any kind.

Village life is more exciting and calm than city life. The speed of life in cities is accelerating. People who live in cities lack both emotions and time for the people in their area. Cities also have higher crime rates. People who live in cities often travel to their town for relaxation when they become overwhelmed by city life's stress and hectic pace.

My village is a typical Indian village situated in the state of Bihar. I visit there every summer vacation for at least 20 days. People lead a very simple lifestyle. Everybody wakes up at 4 a.m., and mostly all of them are seen walking around the fields. Some do farming, and some prepare food for the cattle. Women start their household chores early in the morning. Everything is very pleasant, with no honking of cars, no street chaos, and lush greenery everywhere. I also love interacting with the people around me. So many stories and folktales to learn. It's always an amazing experience to visit my village.

Village and city life both possess own attraction and pleasure.  Life in a village seems tough but it has much charm and attraction too.  Green fields, pure vegetables, scenic beauty and pleasant air are admirable elements of a village.  Air is clean and pure.  There is no pollution or contamination in the air.  Atmosphere is free of harmful gases.  So life in a village is much healthier and peaceful.  Pakistan is predominantly a country of agriculture.  Majority of people are living in village because their occupation is agriculture. 

There is music for everything going on in the village

Village life consists of farms, mud houses, ponds, lakes and fields.  Numerous gardens of different fruits are present in villages.  Streets are narrow and usually filled with dirt.  Roads are unpaved.  There is no heavy rush of traffic on roads.  The facility of electricity is available in villages too except those which are far away or near borderline.  Fresh and pure food is available in villages which is free of all types of contaminations. 

Man’s heart away from nature becomes hard .

Villagers live a very simple and happy life.  They take pure simple and healthy diets.  They have very friendly, social, hospitable and hardworking nature.  They live happiness and sadness of their fellows.  In fact they have no greed and lusts.  Life of village is not speedy.  Most people live in big houses with joint families.  They follow their traditions and cultures.  Women of the village are much cooperative.  They also work in fields with men.  Life of women is also busy in village.  They are not hasty and enjoy their life fully.

Recreation is not only joy but need of a man

The health and education situations are very bad in most of villages.  There are no hospitals in villages or villages that have health centers are not well equipped.   They have to take patients to city in case of serious situations only.  Moreover there is no quality education institution at village level.  Numerous students go to nearby cities to get education.  Literacy rate is lower in villages than in cities.

The road that leads to the village has big trees on either side and they are so full of life as if they are dancing with joy to welcome us to their village. I have never seen such a breathtaking scene. There is a temple at the entrance of the village where often prayers, rituals, and other worshipping activities are taking place.. There is a big pond near the temple and is surrounded by mango trees, champak trees, and a big peepal tree. The smell of the flowers and mango buds attracts everyone’s attention. My ancestral home is behind the peepal tree. 

There is a primary school in my village where the village kids study with a lot of enthusiasm. I love watching them, while the classes are going on, but right now for the Durga Utsav, the school is closed. There is a small dispensary with a doctor and a nurse. They can take care of basic illnesses like fever and stomach pain. For complicated ailments and medicines, the people have to go to the neighboring town. There is a small grocery shop where the basic necessities for sustenance are available. Besides the grocery shop, there is a tea stall with some snacks available. The tea stall is the prime meeting point for all the villagers during the evening time, even in other hours of the day the stall is never empty. It is always full of people sipping tea and chatting, breaking the world’s news to each other. There is a post office in my village. 

My favorite spot is a small rivulet. I love going there and spending time because beyond the rivulet lay are acres of grasslands and hills. For an artist, it will be a perfect picture to paint. All, young and old swim and bathe in the rivulet. The main occupation of the villagers is farming. Whenever I come to my village, I feel immense pleasure because of its peaceful and serene environment. I get to enjoy some fresh and organic vegetables and fruits here. The people in my village are very helpful and they live in harmony with no grudges. They live like one big family who always takes care of each other. We can hardly find this act of compassion back in the city. 

My village is a small abode for happy people.  Here they live in harmony and peace. The village people are very hardworking and thus they must have a good source of upliftment. Like the village’s schools and clinics should be maintained and increased in number. In order to maintain proper hygiene and good health, it is essential to have good sanitation facility. The government must promote the need to have good sanitation facility and must also ensure each village has it.

• Better Healthcare Facilities

There is a dire need to provide good healthcare facilities in every region. The government must ensure that every village is equipped with good hospitals and well educated and experienced healthcare staff.

There are a number of serious problems being faced by the villagers. People in the villages are devoid of various facilities which are a hindrance in their development. They don’t have electricity and that has made their life very hard. It’s a fault of the system and government. We need to make our village able to live for everyone. The migration problem is getting huge in our country for fewer facilities in villages. 

People have a high intention to move to the cities. But we can make our villages amazing. The village has less opportunity for making a job or working space. If you want to get a better job, then you need to go to the city for sure.
