Turkey is increasingly becoming a regional hub for international students. The number of international students in Turkish universities has grown by almost 300% in the last decade. The current internationalization efforts of the Turkish government and universities have the potential to make Turkey an even more attractive destination for international students, especially from surrounding regions. This remarkable growth comes with some opportunities and challenges that deserve close attention. This study explores the factors influencing international students’ decisions to choose Turkey as their study destination and the challenges they experienced. Data were drawn from 37 international students studying in Turkey through semi-structured in-depth interviews. The results suggest that geographical proximity and cultural, historical, religious and ethnic affinities seem to be very prominent in international students’ decisions to study in Turkey as an emerging regional hub. Several other factors including comparable quality of education, affordability of living and education, scholarship opportunities, and recommendations by family or friends are also found to influence their choice of Turkey. The major challenges include lack of adequate guidance and information during pre- and post-arrival processes. Policy recommendations for emerging study destinations such as Turkey are discussed based on the findings.

Derste Hemen her türlü örnekleme öğrencilere yaptırılmalıdır. Statement of Purpose (SOP) For Turkey Scholarship Application

Guide on how to write a statement of purpose (sop).

Photo of Bisma Farooq

Getting a scholarship to study at the University of Turkey is not as easy as it seems. One has to pass several stages as every step matters and can affect your chances of getting the scholarship. So, before submitting the admission application, make sure to fulfill all the requirements along with a well-written statement of purpose to show your passion and dedication.

Those who want to study abroad have to submit a statement of purpose (SOP) with the admission form. This SOP acts as the decision-maker and helps the admission committee select the deserving candidate for the scholarship. In short, the statement of purpose, also known as the Research statement, is a document that describes the applicant’s accomplishments, career goals, professional contributions, and motivation behind getting the specific scholarship for a selected degree program.

Things to cover in Statement of Purpose (SOP):

Your statement of purpose for Turkish scholarship application must contain the below listed four essential elements.

  • Brief personal information:

While writing the statement of purpose for your scholarship application, give a small introduction about yourself, personal interests, choices, and reason for choosing the degree program. Make sure the description should be summed up and captivating.

  • State your academic journey & achievements:

Remember to give meaningful and thought-provoking information in your SOP, as no one likes to read long paragraphs and essays about your accomplishments or grades. Experienced and skilled professors will assess your SOP, so write it technically.

Discuss your research work with its title and results, thesis project, work experience, or professional achievements for the undergraduate or post-graduate degree programs.

  • Internships or assignments during studies or at work:

If you have graduated and worked before rejoining the graduation school, mention all the details related to it. All the noteworthy projects and assignments you have done, skills you have learned, and duties you have performed, enlist them briefly.

  • Describe your academic aspirations:

Here, you will talk about your academic interests and your career expectations from the institute. Make sure to convince the readers that you have completely understood the purpose and scope of the research and are working on the current research theme.

You can also mention your area of interest by defining a problem, posing a question, etc. On the other hand, do comprehensive research on the internet about your selected course, departments, and related professors and their research programs. Sometimes, they ask for the professor’s name with whom you want to continue your research work, so do your homework before stepping forward.

At last, positively end your statement of purpose to show how excited and eager you are to complete your studies in their university.

Points to Ponder while Writing the (SOP):

  • Never use passive voice.
  • Make sure this SOP reflects your potential and competence as a graduate.
  • Explain everything with an example.
  • Write a personal statement to shed light if any incident has affected your grades in the past. It will show your enthusiasm despite facing so many challenges.
  • Sentences should be short, clear, and to the point.
  • The SOP must be engaging and well-written under 500-1000 words.

Personal Statement for Turkey Scholarship

Writing a personal statement for turkey scholarship.

Photo of turkiye

If you are wondering how to write a personal statement for Turkey Scholarship application then you landed on the right place where you will get complete guidance on this topic.

Many other students look forward to the same opportunity; Every applicant has the most competitive academic fellowships with a high GPA and recommendations. You should show your strengths that help you stand out from other applicants. Reveal your experiences and explain what you have learned from them and how they have helped develop your interest in the program. It is always best to be unique and tailor your reasons and motivations so that you will appear out yourself among the thousands of other applicants.

There is no exact recipe or formula to compose a perfect personal statement. If you are applying for different awards, you should write a personal statement for each course, because every organization is looking for a different kind of skill set in their applicants. You should look for their requirements and write your personal statement accordingly. Support your interest in the program with evidence that you meet the selection criteria.

Here are some guidelines that you can follow to write an excellent personal statement.

There is a difference between the personal statement for the college admissions and Personal statements for scholarships. Fellowships selection committees want to have a full grip on your academic abilities and your achievement. Your motivation statement is your chance to explain your motivation in the field you chose. Start the opening sentence of your personal statement in a way that attracts attention and arouses the interest of the selection committee. Talking about unusual activities or anything else can help highlight your personality and positive energy in achieving your dreams and helping your community. Connect your interest in specialization with your personal hobbies.

Choose your words wisely.

When starting to write a personal statement for Turkey Scholarship program, think about skillset for your chosen course, and list it. Record your experiences, plans, and plans. The information will help you explain your suitability when you start writing your personal statement. Don’t focus on the events and problems you faced; instead, focus on your expertise and how you solved them. Focus on our academic achievements, past experiences and qualities; Organize between paragraphs about the most relevant qualifications for the program, and avoid the irrelevant.

Do not leave writing your personal statement until the last minute . You should compose different draft versions of a personal statement and ask friends and family about the possibility of reviewing your personal statement.
