Picnic Spot

Finally, we reached our destination. The moment we reached the ticket window, the kids in the family started jumping with excitement. While we were purchasing the tickets, the kids started getting restless to wait. Then we entered for our awaiting adventure for the picnic with the family. As soon as we entered, the beauty of the place welcomed us with a cool breeze on our faces.

We put on the costumes and entered the pool. The coldness of the water was soothing one. Each splash brought a smile on everyone’s face. Everybody went back to their childhood. The youngest one in the picnic with family was 3.5-year-old, who had entered the pool for the first time. He was the happiest amongst all. After spending a considerate amount of time playing with water, we had to struggle a lot to take kids out from the pool.  What a memorable time it was during a picnic with the family.

Then we started heading towards the food zone. The fun in the pool has led to an empty stomach which was making a lot of funny noise. And the aroma of the delicious food which was coming from the food zone had aced our pace towards it.

The kids in the family started making a list of all the things that they wanted to eat. We ordered everyone’s favorite dish and sat waiting for the food to come. This waiting time was the most torturous one. And finally, our hot and tasty food came. We literally attacked it like the hungry animals. The next 30 minutes was complete silence. Everybody in the picnic with family was busy enjoying their own favorite delicacy. We finished eating and left for home.

Though the picnic with family was over, still it is alive in over memories. All the good time we spent together, a lot of beautiful pictures, will always be with us in our memories. We will soon plan our next picnic with family to rejoice our love, bonding, and happiness together.

Essay on A Picnic With Friends For Students and Children

A picnic essay.

A picnic is a great stress buster. It helps to alleviate the stress and anxiety related to studies and other issues in the family. It takes you away from the boring routine of everyday life. It produces a comforting effect and brings beauty to life. Moreover, it provides us with complete opportunities to study the book of Nature as Shakespeare says. “We find sermons in stones, tongues, in trees and books in running brooks”. Picnics, tours and tours are as important as food and drink.

Last Monday, we were granted a special holiday. My friends and I made a programme and set out in the morning for a beach picnic. At 9′O clock, we reached there. In a hut, we unpacked our things. My friends decided to go boating, so we hired a boat to take us to Manora Island. We wanted to fish, so we all started with high hopes, but only a small amount of fish was captured. After having enjoyed ourselves on the shore, we reached the island. We had our fish fried and enjoyed a great lunch. We had tea in the evening and had a nice time before sunset.

We were wading in water. Wave after wave came and passed us, finally splashing on the shore. We rode the horses and camels, too, and it was great and exciting. One of my friends had brought his camera along and we clicked many snaps.

Read Family Picnic Essay on Vedantu

A picnic is a kind of excursion that is arranged with friends and families in the scenic outdoors. Everyone gets together in a place, ideally a park or resort with a lot of open space, and cook meals and eat lunch together, play games, and spend a whole day making merry and memories. In tropical countries like India, families generally plan exciting picnics during winter holidays because, during that time, the weather remains largely pleasant. These picnics though apparently mere get-togethers have immense significance in our life. They allow us to take a break from our busy routine and spend time with our family which is very important for our mental and emotional well-being. In this essay, I shall talk about a family picnic that was probably one of the best days of my life.

Picnic Day With My Family

Last spring our whole family decided to go to a nearby park for a fun outing and a picnic at the same time. The day before the picnic we could no longer hold our excitement. We spent the entire day planning what we will do and what we will eat. Thinking about all the fun we were going to have made my heart flutter.

The next day after packing our things we left our home at 8 am. The picnic spot was about 2 hours away from our home. We had packed delicious food prepared by my mother. On our way to the picnic spot, we played “antakshari” in the car. I could not wait to reach the spot.

Fun At The Picnic Spot

Finally at 10.30 am we reached the picnic spot. It was a beautiful land on the banks of a river. There was a large area of a green field with a lot of bushes and trees scattered here and there. The river and sky met at the horizon. There was a continuous flow of cool breeze blowing from the river to the banks. It was a mesmerizing sight to behold.

Me and my siblings, we started playing games with the adults including my mother, father, uncle and aunt. We played gully cricket and hide and seek. Soon the adults became tired so me and my siblings, we started racing across the fields.

Finally, we were too tired to play anymore. This was the time for the most amazing part of the picnic, the food. We had brought tasty home-cooked meals from our homes. We unpacked our food and divided it among ourselves. After so many activities my hunger had increased. The food tasted tastier than usual, maybe it was because of the company of the whole family, or maybe it was because I was very hungry. After completing our lunch all of us went for a boat ride. It was my first time riding a boat. At first, I was scared but then slowly I overcame my fear and started enjoying the ride. Then around 5.00 pm, we left for home.

The memories I gathered at the family picnic are some moments I will cherish all through my life. The picnic not only provided a break from the everyday mundane life but also made me happy and allowed me to spend some quality time with my family. I hope we can plan more picnics in the future.

Short Essay on a Picnic with Family – Essay 1 (200 words)

Introduction

In order to escape from the hustle and bustle of the routine life, a retreat is a must. What can be more enjoyable than a picnic time with family with whom we do not get to spend enough time? A picnic not only freshens up the mind, but also helps us to explore new places and enjoy food with our family.

The Picnic – How It Was

We chose the community park of our locality that is situated right beside the limpid brook. The park had a children’s play area where the kids of our family played on slides, swings and other play equipments.

We carried our lunch to the park and decided to have it at the separate picnic area, which we had reserved for that day. After lunch, we sat near the brook, fed the ducks and squirrels and took a walk along the trail. The sunset seen above the brook during twilight was magical and we returned before it was dark.

It was a day well spent with all the members of the family and with this we had a great opportunity to breathe in the fresh air. Escaping the daily routine for a day and being in nature’s lap is definitely important in life.

Essay on a Picnic that I Enjoyed with my Family – Essay 2 (300 words)

In the strain of the work load and juggling between multiple chores, having a family picnic was like an alienated topic to me. All I wanted to have was a relaxing getaway with my family at some place off the beaten path where the city commotions will not be deafening and the air will be pure. Finding such a place was not much of a problem as living in countryside comes up with many pristine places which are yet to be explored.

The Long-Awaited Picnic

It was during the weekend of Christmas and we decided to utilize the vacation fully on the outskirts at a nature park. As most people generally gathered at the urban areas to take the full essence of Christmas, the nature park was less crowded and it gave us the opportunity to reserve a campsite to stay overnight and have picnic.

Surrounded by towering Pine grove, the picnic area was serene with only the chirping of the birds penetrating the silence. The murmuring cascade nearby added to the charm of the forest and we made sure to take a dip into the pool formed beneath the waterfall. The hike to the falls was easy for all the members of family and especially my little nephew was overwhelmed.

Appetite soon hit us after taking a refreshing swim and thanks to my mother, we filled our tummies with delicious sandwiches. Meanwhile my brother was busy barbecuing the chicken with his wife and with it, our lunch was sumptuous.

In the evening, we had bonfire at the picnic site and under the starlit sky, the picnic concluded as we entered our respective camps.

Far from the city crowd, a picnic with family was something all of us longed for to explore the other side of life. A small rustic campsite with grille and picnic facility made our time enjoyable and the added bonanza was the refreshing plunge into the pool.

Essay on Outing with My Family – Essay 3 (400 words)

While sunny days are the most convenient for outing, monsoon showers have their own charm and enjoying rain on a family outing has long been on my bucket-list. Being an avid hiker and photographer, the passion for exploring new places run through my genes, just as my father and mother. My sister who lives in another city had come to our place for her vacations and it was a perfect setup to plan an outing which would rejuvenate our mind and let us enjoy the magic of rains to the fullest.

Outing on the Blue Mountains

The Neelakurinji flower that blooms after a cycle of twelve years was the main attraction behind choosing the Blue Mountains or Western Ghats for the family outing. A long drive along the winding paths of Kodaikanal was a treat in itself and all the members of the family enjoyed watching the rain soaked tender green plantation along the road.

The carpet of the purple Neelakurinji along the hill slopes flashed in front of our eyes as we reached the picnic spot. After freshening up at the restroom of the picnic area, we set out to explore the forests passing through which we would reach the slopes of the Neelakurinji flower meadows. Rain had subdued by then and a magical mist emerged from the top of the mountains.

The soil was wet but there was no clogging of water, which made hiking through the grassland easy for us. The number of flowers gradually increased and finally we were standing in a purple flower laden meadow where soil could not be seen beneath.

We spent quality time taking pictures of this rare flower before hiking back to the picnic area. The caretaker of the picnic spot greeted us with fuming coffee sourced from the nearby coffee plantation along with crunchy vegetable chops. The lunch comprised of Fried Rice, Chilly Chicken and fried vegetables which is grown at the farm nearby.

We spent some more hours watching the rain in the mountains while having the fruit custard prepared by the caretaker’s wife. The couple also talked with us regarding his farms and the picnic spot which gets filled with tourists during public holidays. Biding adieu and promising to return someday, we were homebound.

A break from the monotony of life not only infused a sense of tranquility in our mind, but also helped each of us spend quality time with each other, something we do not get scope of in the routine schedules. The Western Ghat outing was a lifetime experience with the Neelakurinjis.

Essay on A Picnic with My Family and Relatives – Essay 4 (500 words)

The series of examinations made my brain tired of long hours of study and I badly needed a time out with my family. As for my family, they too had not been gone for any outing for the past few years and hence, after the last exam, I decided to call up my aged uncle who lives in another city and ask him to come over with his family. It was time for a family picnic where parents and kids could meet for a reunion and spend a day happily.

Deciding the Place

While my little nephew and niece jumped for the waterpark, my cousin called for the city memorial park and the elders wanted to go to the riverside picnic spot. Finally I and my sister-in-law suggested the countryside farm where my cousin could enjoy photography, kids could interact with farm animals and parents could explore the farm. Everyone jumped in unison and I called the farm owner to confirm our picnic visit the day after.

The Journey

Waking up early and getting ready for the picnic outing, we finally set out in our car. The owner had verified our visit that day and also prescribed the route to be taken to reach his farm. My Mother and aunt had packed breakfast for us which were finished in no time. From the well paved city highway, we took the sideway path that led us to the outskirts where the farm is situated. The pasture fields on both sides of the road and the country cottages kept us charmed till we reached the farm.

The Farm and the Picnic

The cheerful old owner was standing in front of the gate to greet us and his friendliness immediately made all of us comfortable. He escorted us to the rustic cottage where the brick fireplace made us feel cozy. We were served homemade cakes and breads before he took us to the petting farm.

My nephew and niece were screaming in joy seeing the large cocks and hens, rabbits, cows, buffalos, ponies and horses roaming about freely. The owner also gave us grains to feed the birds and grass to feed the animals. The best part however was the pony rides, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed.

My uncle and father remained with the kids and animals while my mother and aunt were busy in the barn kitchen preparing the lunch. Meanwhile I, my cousin and sister-in-law accompanied the owner, had a look at his vast farm where he grew sunflowers, grapes, pumpkins, tomatoes, potatoes and radishes.

As it was the harvest time, he let us pick the vegetables and grapes to bring back home as well as use for lunch specials with eggs and meat dishes obtained from the farm only. After having a scrumptious lunch together on the large table, all of us decided to interact with the owner, take a walk around the farm and fondle the animals, before setting out for home with a relaxed and stress free mind.

Although meeting the relatives regularly is not possible, thanks to our tight schedules but a quick plan for picnic brought all of us together to have endless chitchats, have food together and visit a new place together. The day ended with a heavy heart but the memory will remain forever.

Essay on Picnic in the Park with Family – My Best Experience – Essay 5 (600 words)

It was during the scorching summer months of the year and summer vacations were going on. With daily office, school and college, neither my father nor I and my sister could plan for a family picnic. The temperature was increasing day by day and my mother suggested that we all should go for a family picnic at the city waterpark. Nothing could be more refreshing than splashing water for the whole day and relaxing on hammocks under shades of trees.

The Picnic Spot

To avoid the weekend crowds, my father planned the picnic on a weekday. The waterpark had lazy rivers, swimming pools, water slides and splash pads. It also had an amusement center where thrill rides enchanted me. The highlight was a separate picnic area tucked in the garden where mango, banyan, palm and eucalyptus trees provided ample shade. We reserved a poolside cabana and the picnic gazebo overlooking the lazy river right under the shade of the mango tree.

How We Spent the Day

While my mother, my sister and I arranged spare clothes and towels along with some dry food, father finalized the route and picking up time with the car driver. We set out at 8 am and reached the waterpark at 9.30 am. My father took the tickets while I bought the refreshments before entering.

After entering, we put our belongings in the lockers and freshened up at the restroom while my mother made sure we have the stomach-full of breakfast with Bread and Butter, Noodles and Egg Benedicts. Afterwards we decided to check out the play area where kids were riding slides and rocking on swings. Swans were roaming about whom we fed bread crumbs. We then explored the garden area where many annual, perennial and ornamental plants were planted in separate areas. Mother, being an avid gardening enthusiast, was thoroughly delighted to see the rose beds and cactus at the greenhouse.

The temperature was increasing and so we decided to take a dip into the large pool area. Being a weekday, there was not much crowd and we had so much fun splashing water onto each other and jumping at the splash pad area. My parents were a bit hesitant in entering the pool, but we dragged them anyway. As father rented tubes for me and my sister, we decided to take a leisurely float on tubes on the lazy river before having large pepperoni pizzas and fried chicken for lunch from the picnic gazebo.

The main attraction however was the water slides and tunnels which dropped at the main pool. As they were costly, we opted for only one and it was worth it. After some more soaking in the pool, we entered the cabana and change into new clothes. The cold beverages served here, were very refreshing. Next we visited the amusement park to ride the Roller Coaster and Sky Wheel which made our hearts beat faster in delight. I and mother had ice creams while my sister took the candy floss and father took the roasted groundnuts from the concession carousel.

It was late afternoon by then and the sun was not so scorching. As we were tired after so much action, we decided to sit back at the cabana and enjoy watching others in the pools. We were served cold coffee before we started for home at 5 pm.

With a perfect combination of greenery, water slides, pools and amusement rides, our picnic at the city waterpark was full of fun even when the sun beat down upon us mercilessly. The cool water of the pool area was soothing in the sweltering heat and we had the best picnic experience under the mango grove.

  • Once we finished lunch, my brother and I played football for some time.
  • My mother, father, brother, and I played a few board games.
  • We came back in the evening. We enjoyed our day and decided to go on more such picnics.

Children in the lower primary classes will be expected to write a short paragraph on a picnic for the essay section. An example of a short essay on picnics below could be used as a guide:

Our school organised a picnic for us on Children’s Day. We went to a water park that was full of rides and greenery. We travelled with our friends and teachers. On reaching the water park, we were served hot tomato soup as it was the winter season. We then changed into our swimming dresses to go on the rides. Our teachers joined us too. We spent our time on the rides until lunchtime. We were served hot pizzas, french fries, and juice for lunch. Before we left, we were given a small token from the resort, and we took a group photo together. The picnic was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed spending time with our friends and teachers.

Writing a family essay could be an easy task for kids. But an essay on a picnic with family could be a little difficult. The example below could be a start for writing an essay about a picnic with family:

My family decided to go on a picnic over the long weekend. The farmhouse near the city’s outskirts was chosen as the venue. My mother, father, sister, and I drove to the farmhouse early in the morning with my uncle, aunt and their son. We reached there at 10 in the morning. The farmhouse had a pool, garden and an entertainment room. We spent some time swimming in the pool and then played a few games of cricket in the garden. We then took a short break for some refreshments. We went back to playing football in the garden and played until lunch. For lunch, we ordered a meal from the restaurant next door. We enjoyed the delicious lunch and then went to the entertainment room to relax. We watched a movie and then went to the nearby café for snacks in the evening. After a cup of coffee, we took photos together as a family for memories. We then started back home and reached by evening. It was a memorable day for all of us.

Children in class 3 can articulate better and have more knowledge. However, an essay template could really help them. Below is a picnic essay for class 3 that could help them spark their creativity:

I once went on a picnic at a resort with my school. We took a bus to the resort and, on the way, sang songs along with the teachers. After we reached the resort, we played in the garden and spent time on the rides. We spent time on the rides until lunchtime, and then our teachers took us to the dining hall for lunch. The lunch was delicious, with large portions of dishes. After we finished our lunch, our teachers gathered us in the garden, and we played some games like hopscotch, egg and spoon race, and more. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and teachers until the evening when it was time to leave. We clicked a few group photos and took the bus back home. It was such a wonderful day spent with my friends.

Another picnic that I love is the one with my family. It was a long weekend, and since we did not want to go on a long holiday, we decided to take a day trip to the beach. My father, mother, brother, and I set off early to the beach as the weather was hot and sunny. My mother packed some snacks and drinks to eat on the way. My father decided to drive, and we listened to music as we travelled to the beach. When we reached the beach, we immediately headed to the water and spent time swimming! Essay on Picnic

Essay on Picnic: We all go through various levels of stress, so as to seek departure from all our daily life issues. We often plan a day out with our friends and family. One of the best ways to relieve our stress is to go on a picnic. Picnics are usually enjoyed by both children and adults. Going out on a picnic acts as a remedy to our stress and helps us come back with a lot of freshness and rejuvenation.

In this blog, we have provided an essay on picnic in 200, 300 and 400 words. This will help all the students to write on this topic. Read more to get a fair idea as to how you can write on it.

Essay on Picnic in 200 Words

A picnic, an old custom, provides the ideal diversion from the pressures of modern life. It’s a day of simplicity, joy, and connectedness to loved ones and the natural world.

Families and friends assemble in parks, on the shores of lakes while the sun warmly illuminates the surroundings. They spread out blankets decorated with an abundance of homemade treats. The hungry will find sandwiches, seasonal fruits, and refreshing lemonade. A dinner becomes a memorable feast when it is simply shared outside. This simple act of doing so increases the food’s flavour.

The natural melody of birds and rustling leaves is delightfully complemented by conversation and laughter. While kids discover the outdoor attractions, soccer balls and frisbees may fly. The day is for playing games, unwinding, and admiring the scenery.

Picnics promote quality time spent with loved ones and strengthen ties. They provide a break from screens, emails, and due dates while bringing back memories of simpler pleasures in life. Picnics produce priceless memories, whether they are enjoyed by the tranquil sound of a lake or in the shadow of a large oak tree.

In those moments, the world feels beautifully uncomplicated, and our souls find solace in the embrace of nature. Picnics are more than just meals outdoors; they are a celebration of life, love, and the enduring human need for connection and relaxation.

Essay on Picnic in 300 Words

Picnics are enjoyable outings that enrich and calm our lives. Last summer, when my family and I made the decision to get away from the rush and bustle of city life and spend the day in the middle of nature, I had one such unforgettable picnic.

We settled on a gorgeous location next to a calm lake surrounded by luxuriant green foliage. A pleasant symphony was produced by the rustling of the leaves as the early sun touched the water and placed a golden hue on it.

The day was jam-packed with entertainment. I was playing catch with my younger sister as my parents had a leisurely stroll around the lake. My mother made those sandwiches with such care, and they were just unmatched in flavour.

We decided to continue our exploration of the area after lunch. In the midst of the tranquil beauty of the lake, we rented a rowboat and set out on the water. Fish were darting beneath the surface in the glisteningly bright water. Even my father gave fishing a shot, but we only managed to reel in a few little fish.

We gathered along the lake’s side as the day dragged on to watch the sunset. The horizon was painted with hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sky changed into a canvas of warm colours. We were all in amazement at the sight, which served as a reminder of nature’s utter beauty.

We started a bonfire and told tales around it as darkness began to fall over the scene. The roaring fire and the shooting stars above gave the night a magical touch.

We reluctantly packed our things and said goodbye to our wonderful location. That picnic’s memories will live on in my heart always. It served as a reminder that, despite our hectic schedules, these are the times we actually value.

Essay on Picnic in 400 Words

A picnic is a lovely outdoor activity that enables individuals to escape from the bustle of daily life, spend quality time with loved ones, and connect with nature. The core of a picnic is found in the straightforward joys it provides, whether the excursion is a last-minute adventure or a carefully planned outing.

Selecting the ideal venue is the first step in picnic planning. Numerous elements, including closeness, the beauty of the surrounding area, and the activities on offer, may have an impact on this choice.

The menu is the most important consideration after the location is chosen. Delicious food is synonymous with picnics, and a thoughtfully planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruit, chips, salads, and homemade desserts. To guarantee that everyone’s taste buds are satiated, pack a variety of dishes.

The menu comes second in importance after the choice of site. Delicious food is a picnic staple, and a well-planned spread may increase everyone’s enjoyment. Fresh fruit, chips, salads, cold sandwiches, and handmade sweets are all common options. Everyone’s taste buds will be satiated if a variety of dishes are packed.

Excitation is in the air as the gang gathers on the day of the picnic. Gathered with smiles, baskets, and blankets, friends and family are prepared to enjoy the embrace of nature. Everyone contributes in order to create the ideal setting for relaxation as they work together to set up a cosy picnic area.

The menu comes next in importance once the venue has been selected. A thoughtfully planned spread can improve the entire enjoyment of a picnic, which is linked with good food. Popular options include cold sandwiches, fruits straight from the garden, chips, salads, and homemade desserts.

The picnickers are filled with satisfaction as the day comes to an end and the sun starts to set. It’s time to tidy up, store the leftovers from the feast, and leave the area as spotless as you found it. This commitment to the environment assures that picnickers in the future can take in the same unspoiled splendour.

In conclusion, a picnic is more than just a lunch outside; it’s a rejuvenating event for both body and spirit. It’s time to unplug from technology and re-establish relationships with friends, family, and the environment.

Essay on Picnic With Family:

It was a beautiful sunny day and my family and I decided to have a picnic together. We packed some sandwiches, fruits, snacks, and drinks and headed to the park.

As we reached the park, we found a nice spot under a big tree. The grass was soft and green, and there were colorful flowers all around us. My younger sister couldn’t wait to run around and explore the area. My parents and I set up the picnic mat and started unpacking the food.

We had a variety of sandwiches, from classic ham and cheese to vegetarian options. We also had some fresh fruit salad which my mom had prepared at home. The snacks included chips, pretzels, and cookies, while for drinks we had lemonade and water. As we enjoyed our delicious meal, we chatted and laughed together.

After eating, my dad suggested playing some outdoor games. We played badminton and frisbee, and it was so much fun! My sister and I even had a mini race which she won (she’s really fast!). It was great to see my parents joining in on the fun and letting loose for a while.

We also went for a short walk around the park, admiring the beautiful scenery and taking some family photos.

As the day went on, we enjoyed each other’s company and had a great time bonding. It was refreshing to be away from our daily routines and just enjoy nature and each other’s presence. The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold, and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. It felt like the perfect day for a picnic.

As the sun started to set, we reluctantly packed our things and headed back home. On the way home, we talked about our favorite moments from the picnic and how we should do this more often.

Even though it was just a simple afternoon in the park, it brought us closer as a family and created some wonderful memories. I am grateful for the time we spent together and look forward to our next picnic adventure.

My Favorite Picnic Spot Essay:

A picnic is an outdoor meal where people gather to enjoy each other’s company and delicious food. It is a popular activity during warm weather when people can enjoy the beauty of nature. One of my favorite things to do during weekends or holidays is to go on a picnic with my family and friends.

We have discovered some amazing spots over the years, but there is one in particular that holds a special place in my heart. In this essay, I will share about my favorite picnic spot and why it is so special to me.

The Location

My favorite picnic spot is a small secluded beach located on the outskirts of town. It is surrounded by lush green trees and has a stunning view of the ocean. The sand is soft and white, making it the perfect place for sunbathing or building sandcastles.

What makes this spot even more special is that it is not well-known to tourists, so it remains relatively untouched and peaceful. The only way to access it is by a short hike through the forest, which adds to the sense of adventure and exclusivity.

Apart from enjoying a delicious picnic lunch, there are plenty of activities to do at my favorite spot. We love to go swimming in the crystal-clear water or take a stroll along the shore collecting seashells. There are also some great spots for snorkeling where we can see colorful fish and coral reefs.

If we’re feeling more adventurous, we rent kayaks and explore the nearby coves and caves. No matter what we choose to do, we always have an amazing time surrounded by nature’s beauty.

My favorite picnic spot holds many special memories for me. It is where I first learned to swim, and where my friends and I had our first bonfire. We have celebrated birthdays, graduations, and even weddings at this spot.

Every time we visit, we reminisce about these fond memories and create new ones to add to the collection. The peacefulness of the location also allows us to disconnect from technology and truly connect with each other. It is a place where we can relax, unwind and make unforgettable memories.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, my favorite picnic spot is not just a beautiful location, but it holds sentimental value to me. It is a place where I can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and be surrounded by nature’s tranquility.

The activities available at this spot make every visit unique, and the memories created there will last a lifetime. If you ever get the chance to visit my special spot, I highly recommend taking the time to have a picnic there and experience its magic for yourself.

Trust me; you won’t regret it! So next time you are planning an outdoor activity with your loved ones, consider heading out on a picnic and create some wonderful memories at your own favorite spot. Happy picnicking!

Essay On Picnic - 100, 200, 500 Words

A picnic is a joyous occasion for every person, irrespective of their age. It is a great way to spend time with family and friends and experience the excellent outdoors. There are a few things to consider when planning a picnic. The initial step is to pick a location that is accessible for each person, followed by arranging food and drinks.

It’s always better to carry your own things—including blankets, food and chairs. Whether picnics are at an outstation or a nearby park, it is worth enjoying the time to strengthen your connection with friends and family. No one at the picnic should feel left out, as one of the purposes of the picnic is to connect people. As a result, having a positive attitude and a beautiful smile can brighten your day and make the picnic vibes more positive.

A picnic is a day when people take a break from their busy schedules and get to know each other better. It is a short trip for pleasure to a beautiful place. Picnics provided much relief from daily stresses. Picnics call for families and friends to have fun and make memories together.

In our busy schedules, we often forget to spend time with our family and even ourselves. Picnics are thus a way to take a break from everyday hustle and give ourselves a much-needed change from routine. Picnics are not only fun, but they also strengthen family bonds.

A picnic can provide us with laughter and enjoyment. From our everyday boring lives, we want to take a break and go for a small picnic. Some months ago, I had a picnic with my college buddies. We visited the historic Jaisalmer citadel in Rajasthan. A large range of vacationers go to this place regularly. There were four of us so we hired a vehicle. It took four hours to use and complete the tasks there. We started our adventure early in the morning, so as to explore the whole place. I like visiting at forts and vintage buildings. So, I picked Jaisalmer as our picnic spot.

In these stressful lives, we always look for an escape such that we can forget about our daily problems and enjoy our time away from the pollution and chaos of the city. The best option is to go on a picnic. Picnics are cherished and loved by both kids and adults. It relieves stress and adds some variety to our daily routine.

A picnic is referred to as one of the calmest outdoor activities, although it has its fun sides as well. A meal we consume outside, below the sky, in the presence of sparkling air and plant life, can be termed a picnic. People often plan picnics in parks, lakesides, seashores, and other outside locations that involve a stunning view and clean air.

Importance of Picnic

An outside pastime sometimes helps us calm our minds and maintain desirable fitness. A picnic is how we can add enjoyment to our daily life. There are various kinds of picnics, based on the people who arrange them or the fellow people. There could be college picnics, office picnics, family picnics, and more.

It is no longer incorrect to mention that our everyday lifestyle is full of stress and noise. A picnic introduces an alternative to our daily life. Going out in public places allows people to laugh at themselves. We sing, dance, and do a variety of other activities. A picnic is a powerful way of bringing people close to each other, be it a group of associates, family members, classmates, or buddies. A picnic is a powerful way to solidify emotional bonds.

Picnics allow us to connect with nature as well as with other people. Spending a day out among the trees, vegetation, and greenery has great effects on our experience. Laying or walking barefoot on the grass may be a happy experience for every person.

Picnics allow us to relax in the arms of nature and regain our misplaced strength, as we all know that after city lifestyles tire us, nature is the way to recharge ourselves. Picnics are a way of enjoying our bodies and minds. When we are on a picnic with our loved ones, we enjoy our time to the fullest. It allows us to relax and take deep breaths after weeks of working. If we exclude the food, games and activities are the enjoyable aspects of picnics.

The picnic involved a delightful factor, i.e., food. For some people who must follow a specific weight-reduction plan, picnics can make their food plan flexible for a day and allow them to have whatever meals they prefer. Humans take their favourite snacks to picnics and enjoy them under the stars.

Meal items like sandwiches, fruit juices, and wafers are a few items in each lunch packed for a picnic. Lunch may be considered a crucial part of a picnic. Picnics are a lot of fun for kids because it's like getting a free ticket to have a good time. From getting up early to play with their outside toys to having their favourite snacks, make their days fulfilling for them.

Essay on a Picnic with Family in 500 Words

Introduction: Picnic is always fun and picnic with family is awesome. In last summer vacation, I experienced an amazing picnic with my family . That was a memorable life event for me. I will have the memory alive in my heart forever. Let me share my experience and the things that I did there.

My father was planning for a long time to visit the nearest jungle and do a camp there for the entire day. There is a beautiful waterfall and a hilly river to see. We agreed with him and wanted to visit that amazing place. But due to my mother’s job, we have waited until the summer vacation. Finally, we have done that amazing picnic last week. And that was amazing. Let me share my experience with you.

Picnic with Family: The picnic spot was almost 2 hours driving away from our home. One of my cousins joined us. She came from another city to spend her summer vacation with our family. We were extremely happy to have her in our team. We were six people in total, my parents , my grandmother, my younger brother, and the cousin who arrived a few days ago. We fixed a date and we were lucky that it was a sunny day.

In the very early morning, my mother waked me up and told to get ready. I brushed my teeth and got ready within 15 minutes. And then we took our breakfast together. We left our house at 9 o’clock in the morning. My father was driving the car and my mother was sitting beside him. We all were in the back seat. After awhile the side view was changing. We started to see nature. After two hours of driving, we reached a perfect place where we can spend the day. The place was very near the waterfall, but a bit away from the river.

First of all, we all went to the waterfall together and played with water. My cousin took me to the peak of a small hillock. That was a great experience of trekking for me because I never had such experience in my life. I thanked my cousin’s sister a lot for that. It was noon and we all were tired. We came to the car and my mom served our lunch. We ate lots of contentment. The food was delicious. My grandmother enjoyed it a lot too. After lunch she walked a bit around with us. We took her near the waterfall. She was so impressed.

And then my father drove us to the river. We saw the beauty of a hilly river in the afternoon. That was looking dreamy and amazing. And then we went back to our home in the evening.

What I Enjoyed Most: I mostly enjoyed the waterfall, the river, and the trekking experience. I enjoyed a lot in the car while we were going there. We had lots of energy and literally we were shouting. My parents didn’t stop us, because they know we don’t get enough time to enjoy ourselves. Overall that was an amazing experience for me. I will never forget this picnic experience ever in my life.

Conclusion: Everyone should go for a family picnic. That teaches us lots of things and helps us to get a better understanding with family members. We can see lots of new things that enrich our knowledge and make us visionary.

A Picnic with my School Friends Essay (925 Words)

December 25, 2017 by Study Mentor 2 Comments

Each one of us, enjoy going for an outing with our family and friends. It might be a movie, an amusements park or a zoo. Picnic doesn’t only bring us close but we all get to know each other in a better way.

Table of Contents

My first picnic

I was 12 when I went for my first picnic with my friends, organized by our school. I still remember it was an early Sunday morning and my father dropped me to the school for the trip. We were supposed to be taken to a zoo and a dairy factory, where we enjoyed ourselves very much.

Just a day before my picnic I bought so many eatables and food items to enjoy during my picnic. We reached the school and I bid a bye to my dad and then he left.

We entered the bus, as it was my first journey by bus so, I was a little nervous but since my friends were with me so I regained my confidence and the journey began.

The destination was quite far from our school. So to make the journey entertaining we played games in the bus, we sang songs, laughing, chatting, singing and had some snacks.  I saw so many beautiful scenes during the journey, outside of the pacing bus.

When we reached the destination

It was a bright morning and the birds were chirping in joy.  When we entered inside the zoo, there was a small beautiful lake at the entrance. The water was quite cool.

When I went close, I saw so many different breeds of fishes, and turtles. Next to the lake we saw the peacock cage where the bird had spread its mesmerizing feathers and was dancing in joy. The whole scene was like a beautiful dream.

We took photographs and then we moved ahead to explore more about that place.

Exploring the place

Picnic essay

At first I saw my favourite animal ‘ tiger ’ and it looked so fierce and dangerous that I just got afraid and ran away from its cage. We heard the lion roaring shut in the cage.

Then I saw the cage of deer, they all were playing with each other and it was a pleasant scene. Then we enjoyed boating . We saw many different faunas like crocodile, snakes frogs and did some fishing.

We then further explored the different creatures of the zoo.  I took so many photographs with my teachers and friends. We were in high spirits; we just ran around and climbed the trees, shouting in joy.

After exploring the zoo we all were just starving from hunger so we all gathered at a place and had our tasty lunch that we all carried from our home.

I remember after finishing my own lunch, I ate one of my friend’s lunches too and then we started playing games.

My friend carried badminton rackets with him and both of us played a match and I remember losing the match to him and we played hide and seek too. After a short game we all were taken to a toy train in the zoo.

We all sat on the   train and we explored all the parts of the zoo that we were not able to see earlier. We really enjoyed ourselves and gathered so many sweet memories.

Then, we packed our stuffs and we were ready to go to the other part of our picnic that was the dairy.  I was not very much excited to visit the dairy, as I thought it would be a boring place and there would be nothing to do like any fun sort of thing.

When we reached our next Destination

When we reached the dairy we all stood up at the entrance in a queue. Then we moved in together silently.

When we entered we saw a big ice cream and milk parlour and a factory where the products were manufactured. As we were the visitors so we got an ice cream and a milkshake for free and we really enjoyed it.  Then we moved inside where the processing of products was being done.

The purpose of this visit was to help the students to gain some external knowledge that may help them in future. As we moved inside, the manager greeted us and took us for a short factory tour.

We got ideas of how the processing was done of the raw products, how the packaging was done and what all were the requirements to successfully deliver the product to the market.  Then we visited the garden area of the factory where the cattle and its feed were kept.

It was an eye’s dropping moment as everything was so well organized right from the entrance to the factory and obviously the cattle’s as well.

The manager explained to us that how he managed the entire factory and this trip proved to be really beneficial for us , as we gained so much of knowledge , learned how to be in discipline , to keep unity among ourselves  and most of all the  importance of hard work in our life to achieve success.

Then finally the time came when we had to leave and we all collected our stuffs, bid a goodbye to the manager and left for our bus.

Essay on Picnic with Friends in English

Introduction.

I am a student of K.V. Higher Secondary School, Haldwani. On 11 January 2017, my friends came to my house. They forced me to arrange for a picnic. I became ready to make a good programme.

Arrangements

Every one of us gave 200 rupees to purchase the necessary things. On the following day, we got up early in the morning. Then we started on bikes towards the river Ganges. We had some bread, butter, tea, sugar, milk, and fruits in our baskets.

After half an hour we reached Rajghat Narora. Then we hired a boat. We placed all the articles in it. The rowing of the boat gave us much pleasure. My friend Ramesh began to sing his favourite song ‘Hum door chale duniya se’. We all had fun, we enjoyed every moment. After some time I began to narrate the famous story of Sindabad, the sailor. My friends liked it.

Then we collected some pieces of wood. We prepared tea. The refreshment was served by Harish and Mahesh. We were all in a jolly mood.

After some time, we played cards. Ramesh played his piano. His music was very decent, everybody liked it.

Mahesh tried to imitate wild animals, and his performance was extraordinary.  Sometimes he cried like a donkey, sometimes he roared like a lion. Certainly, he is a master of his art. None of us could copy him.

At about 4 p.m., we returned home. Everybody was happy. All of us enjoyed the day very much. My friends appreciated the programme. They praised me for making decent arrangements for the picnic.

Essay on Picnic with Family

Essay on Picnic with family : Where shall we go tomorrow? Asked my little brother last Saturday night, when we all were in the sitting room after having dinner. Father, mother, and the rest of us always sit together for some time after dinner.

I said, ‘Let’s go to the cinema’. My sister doesn’t like a film at all. She says she gets a headache when inside a cinema hall. She said, ‘Let go to the old temple in Chakrata’. “That is a good idea,” Mother said. We decided to go to Chakrata. We went to bed soon after.

The next morning, we began our preparations. Mother, as usual, got up before sunrise. After having her bath she started making ‘purees’ for us, sister prepared tea and filled two flasks.

Milk for the baby brother was also boiled. We took another flash for him. I went to the market to buy jalebis and bananas. We were amused to see even Father so excited. He was in the kitchen helping his mother.

The temple was about 5 kilometers from our place. We hired two rickshaws. I preferred going by bike. We reached the temple at about 10 a.m. We were very hungry. First, we chose a quiet spot. We spread our rug and had our tea. Then we decided to go inside the temple.

Inside there it was dark and cool. The ancient building with its thick walls and high ceiling made the inside very comfortable. There was a long corridor leading to three big rooms. All around the building, there were broken stone images. Most of these were of gods and goddesses.

We entered the big hall which had an idol of Lord Shiva at the center. The expression on the face of the idol was marvelous. Mother was full of feelings. She offered some flowers to Lord Shiva. A river flowed by the eastern side of the temple. There were marbles, plenty of them on both banks of the river. We collected a few round ones.

We could see small silvery fish that kept appearing and disappearing in the water. We threw them some puffed rice. Then went boating, the sun had started setting. It was a pleasure to boat in the twilight. While in the boat we played cards, sang songs, and exchanged jokes.

It was getting dark. Mother did not want us to stay on any longer, we had to return. Then we went home, enjoying the bright moonlight. We were tired but happy.

Advantages of a Family Picnic – Essay 1 (250 Words)

Introduction

A picnic with family is something more than literally being a picnic; it is a family outing that provides many opportunities to talk to your family members, which you wouldn’t be able to do due to busy everyday schedule. It is a time to enjoy and make moments that will be converted into memories.

Advantages of a Family Picnic

A family picnic is advantageous both psychologically, physically and also from the relationship point of view.

An urban family didn’t get much time at its disposal to spend it together with the family members. Even the closest members meet only on dinner tables. Therefore, a family picnic planned on a holiday is like a new lease of life to the relationships and emotional bonding. It also gives you the opportunity to speak to your family members about your future plans, thoughts and all. It is time to unwind your soul and relax your mind.

Also, the picnic is kind of a physical exercise without you even realizing that you are doing one. You walk a long distance, play, and dance and do a number of physical activities as part of the picnic plan. So many physical activities improve your stamina and tone up the vital organs of your body, making them ready for the coming days.

A family picnic is the best way to reignite love among the family members and also to tone up your mental and physical health. It is advisable to organize at least one such outing once in a week or a fortnight to keep the light of love and faith glowing in a family, which is otherwise too busy with everyday chores.

Essay 2 (400 Words) – How to Decide a Family Picnic Destination

A picnic with family is not only an event to go out and enjoy but also a time to understand each other and know what lies in the heart. It’s time to forget the everyday routine and jump into the pool of happiness, joy, and togetherness.

Where to Go?

When you are a part of a nuclear family, living in cramped two-bedroom apartment in some residential complex; your concern for where to go for a picnic with family, is genuine. It’s hard to find a picnic place these days, when you are surrounded by signs of human settlements. But, don’t be disappointed, as there are still lots of good and pristine places left in this world. Hunt for a place that is at a convenient distance from your house to conclude the picnic by the end of the day.

Many cities have zoological parks, commonly referred to as zoo. See if your city has one. A zoo has many small clearings and parks where you can sit back with your family, intermittently during the tour through the animal enclosures. It would be a nice and relaxing experience.

Even if there is no zoo in your city, look for a place outside the city limits, that is often used as a picnic spot by the locals. Take the advice of your friends, neighbors; they must know about a place like this. Take care to avoid isolated and deserted places as it may not be safe from the safety point of view.

A Time to Relax and Enjoy

The moment you start on your picnic expedition, start enjoying each and every moment. Don’t wait for the destination to start enjoying, rather, enjoy even the journey. Sometimes the journey holds more rewards than the destination itself.

Cherish each and every moment and the first thing to do while commencing the journey is to leave your office and home worries locked behind the door. When out on a picnic with your family, you need to keep your headlight without any unnecessary worries and responsibilities. Let your office worries wait till you get back from the picnic. Till then just relax and chill out, spreading love and smile.

Picnic with family is the best that could happen amid the chaos and business of a city life. It is like a shot of energy and happiness both in the life and in the relations.

A Picnic With Family Essay

Essay 3 (500 – 600 Words) – Importance of a Family Picnic

A picnic with family is always a relaxing and pleasurable experience. It gives you a time out with other family members where you can do a number of things and activities together with them.

Importance of a Family Picnic

Family is the most important group of people constituting an individual’s close relatives. It consists of – father, mother, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, etc.

Every younger family member in an urban family is too busy all day long in his/her own affairs- office, college, school, etc; while the elders crave for attention and love. Working sons/daughters don’t have time for their ailing parents and are too involved in their own chores. Their day begins with just one thought and that is ‘to reach office on time’. Ironically, it is their day’s primary goal. You may laugh it off, but it is the truth with almost every urban family.

Children in the household, find their grandparents too old fashioned and often avoid their company. In this state of affairs, it becomes necessary to take a step towards saving the broken relationships and bringing them back to life, with whatever resources you have. A picnic is very important as sometimes for a busy family, it is the only weapon to mend their broken relationships and hearts, of course!

When to Plan?

But, what can an earning family member do, on whom lay the responsibility of well being of the family and its expenses. You have to work six days a week 24/7 to meet the requirements of your family and also your own. Don’t be disheartened because you still have the weekends at your disposal and can utilize it at your leisure.

Also, you can choose any of the public, religious or other holidays that your employer grants you. It is not necessary that you need a long holiday for a family picnic; rather, it can be planned only in a day’s time. The key is to get up and get going.

A Time to Reinvent Relationships

A picnic gives the family members ample of time to rejuvenate their relationships. Even if you have seldom spoken to your parents or grandparents in the gone week; it is the right time for you to do so, while on a family picnic.

A picnic is a perfect time to spread smile and interact with each family member on issues close to their heart. You can chat with them about their health and preferences, just to make them feel important and cared for.

It could also prove the best time to ward off any kind of misunderstanding or sour feeling among the members. Picnic gives a time to interact and understand the real intentions, thereby helping in removing misunderstandings.

Some Necessary Precautions

As you have known by now the importance of a family picnic, when to plan it and how it helps in fixing relationships; it is time to move on the most important aspect of a picnic, that is the safety of family members.

It is highly advisable that you get a complete idea of the place where you intend to visit with your family. Search the internet for reviews of the place. Ask any of your friends or colleagues who had already been there. Make sure the place is safe enough and has all the basic amenities and the emergency services available, just in case.

A family picnic is like a family gets together away from home and other everyday chores. It is time to relax and just enjoy the company of your loved ones. You might feel a little lethargic over an idea of a picnic and would prefer relaxing in the comfort of your house, but believe me, once you return from the family picnic; you won’t regret it at all.

How to Enjoy Your Picnic

A picnic is a great way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. Here are some tips on how to make the most of your picnic:

This includes things like plates, utensils, napkins, and food storage containers. Don’t forget about things like insect repellent and sunscreen if you’re picnicking in warm weather! Finally, clean up after yourself when the picnic is over. This means putting all your trash in the garbage bags and taking them with you when you leave. Leaving behind a mess for someone else to clean up is rude and inconsiderate.

All in all, picnics are a great way to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family while savoring some delicious food. So next time you’re feeling cooped up, plan a picnic and head out to your favorite spot for an enjoyable day in nature.

We went for a picnic last weekend. Our ancestral farmhouse was selected as the picnic spot, and we spend the whole day over there. My parents did invite my uncle and his family.

A food basket was arranged over there by us. In breakfast, we had light corn and spinach sandwich. I took out my badminton played with my cousins. We took a quick tour in and around the farm; and had yummy pizza at lunch.

“It was super random,” said Mr. White, who goes by Ethan. “This pretty girl popped up on my Instagram. We had zero mutual friends, but there were several little elements that made her seem like a good catch. So, I shot my shot.”

He sent her a direct message that read, “I’m sorry for the classless approach. But I think you’re beautiful.”

Ms. Brunette said that she was “very leery” when she first saw his message. She even teased him about it later on. “I said, ‘Ethan, I hope you’re not catfishing me,’ because I literally don’t know who this man is. He says he is a soccer player, but I also knew nothing about soccer.”

The two exchanged numbers and texted sporadically throughout August as Ms. Brunette was on a 21-day vacation traveling through Europe. When she returned, they met in person in September at Blockheads, a now-closed bar on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Mr. White was living in Philadelphia at the time but happened to be in New York visiting a friend.

Ms. Brunette said there was “definitely some chemistry,” between them during their first meeting, but neither considered it a date. Their real first date came the following month. Mr. White took the two-hour train ride from Philadelphia to New York City to meet her for dinner at a Peruvian restaurant called Pio Pio 8 in Hell’s Kitchen.

It did not go well.

“I thought we were never going to see each other again,” Mr. White said. Shortly after the date began, Ms. Brunette dropped her phone, smashing the screen.

“Her energy changed,” Mr. White said. “We were just getting to know each other, and it was a very responsive interaction. It turned very dry because of her mood change.”

It was not the first time she had shattered her phone, “So, I started thinking, ‘I’m going to have to pay another $250 to fix this dang phone,’” said Ms. Brunette, who admitted that she is prone to “wear all of my emotions on my face.”

Despite the awkward night, they did see each other again. And, by November, they were talking almost every day. In early December, they discovered they would both be in Panama with family at the end of the month.

“My dad and his side of the family live in Panama, so, I had been going since I was a kid,” Ms. Brunette said. “Ethan’s brother was living there for a few months with his girlfriend.”

Once they were in Panama, Ms. Brunette had to fib to her father in order to stay with Mr. White and his family for a few days in Panama City, about 45 minutes from her father’s house. “I had to tell him that I knew this guy super well and that I knew his brother and girlfriend,” Ms. Brunette said. Neither of which was true, of course.

“We went hiking, explored the city, partied, we had the best time and finally got to spend a significant amount of time together,” Ms. Brunette said. “This was the true turning point for us.”

They even had their first kiss.

“We had gone on a hike that day to Cerro Ancon and had such a great day,” Ms. Brunette said. “We returned to the hotel and were getting ready for a night out and Ethan said he just had to get it out of the way. So, he just kissed me in the hotel.”

After returning to the States, Ms. Brunette visited Mr. White in Philadelphia in January, and on Jan. 11, 2015, the two officially became a couple. They dated long distance for a year.

It “was actually great because it felt like we were in our own little bubble,” Ms. Brunette said. “No pressure to meet each other’s friends or family so quickly. Because our time together was limited, we were really intentional about it being spent together.”

Then, the universe did the couple a solid. Mr. White, who was a defender for the Major League Soccer team Philadelphia Union, got traded to the New York City Football Club. In mid-January 2016, he moved into Ms. Brunette’s apartment on the Upper East Side, where they continue to live today.

When it came to the proposal, Ms. Brunette did not make it easy on Mr. White. (“You were a pain that day,” said Mr. White to Ms. Brunette during the interview. “I know, I remember,” Ms. Brunette said.)

In March 2021, the two traveled to Miami to attend an event at the Soho House, where Mr. White’s photo was included in a Black History Month exhibit.

Mr. White had planned to propose during a picnic on the beach, which they did often whenever they traveled to Miami, so on March 2, he suggested they do just that.

But Ms. Brunette had other plans. She was “dying to go to this restaurant, and I had already planned this picnic with all our friends and family,” Mr. White said.

He finally convinced her. But she was not thrilled. “I was kind of annoyed. I really wanted to try to this restaurant,” Ms. Brunette said. Then she got more annoyed, wondering why Mr. White wanted to walk so far to such a specific spot on the beach.

Then Ms. Brunette got a phone call, a prep call for a big job interview she had coming up for a supervising producing role at a new show on Comedy Central. She couldn’t miss it. He couldn’t wait to propose.

“The sun is setting, we’re losing light,” Mr. White said. “My friend was hiding in the bush to take pictures. I’m trying to get her off the phone.” Finally, she hung up. “I started talking, and she’s like, ‘Why do you sound like that? You sound weird.’”

Ms. Brunette went from confused to stunned. “All I remember is that he said something and then the ring was out,” she said. “And then I said, ‘Of course I’ll marry you.’ He puts the ring on, and then all of a sudden I hear yelling behind me.” It was her family and their friends running toward them, all of whom had come in from New York.

The couple was engaged for three years before getting married. “We knew we wanted to be together forever so there was no rush. We spent money on travel instead of wedding things,” Mr. White said.

Mr. White, 33, is a photographer and a founder and creative director of STADE, a creative agency based in New York. He is also a retired Major League Soccer player, having played for D.C. United, Philadelphia Union, and New York City FC. Mr. White, who grew up in Silver Spring, Md., attended the University of Maryland.

Ms. Brunette, also 33, is a supervising television producer. She formerly worked with ABC and Comedy Central and most recently with the SpringHill Company, LeBron James’s production company. She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Buffalo State University with a bachelor’s degree in media production. In 2019, she won an Emmy for the “Rachael Ray” show.

The two were wed on March 11 at the Office of the City Clerk by Madeline Plasencia, a city clerk. Ms. Brunette’s mother and stepfather attended, as did Mr. White’s mother. “We all cried,” Ms. Brunette said. “And we didn’t think such a bleak room in a courthouse could do that.”

A celebratory wedding ceremony, led by a friend, Antonia Santiago, followed on March 16 in Panama at Panamá Viejo, an event space and historical ruins site in Panama City. Ninety-two people attended the weekend-long celebration. “It felt dreamy, magical,” Ms. Brunette said.

The weekend brought out the best in everyone, the couple said, including Mr. White’s mother. On Saturday night, “My mom, usually a quiet introvert, was partying and dancing with everyone until the last song,” Mr. White said. “I loved seeing all of my family and friends, some meeting one another for the first time, come together the way they did from all over the world to celebrate Bianca and I. It was an incredible thing.”

Panama or Bust “We decided on Panama because it had the most significance in our relationship — it was a turning point in our relationship,” Ms. Brunette said. “I’ve spent a lot of time in Panama. I would go every summer to visit family.” Ever since they began dating, Mr. White would go with her as well.

Honoring Tradition The couple had pollera dancers at their ceremony and Congo dancers at the reception. “Polleras dancers wear beautiful white dresses and dance Tamborito, which is the traditional folklore dance of Panama,” Ms. Brunette said. “Congo is a more unique and colorful manifestation of folklore in the province of Colon, which is where my family is from. The dance has its roots in Africa and came to Panama by way of escaped former slaves.”

Let’s Get crazy The couple also included “La Hora Loca,” which is a “tradition in many Latino weddings that translates to crazy hour,” Ms. Brunette said. Just when guests feel like the party is dying down, the lights are lowered and glow-in-the-dark favors are passed around. Then came a big surprise for guests. “Everyone was shocked when the Diablo Rojo bus came in blasting music and lit up,” Ms. Brunette said. “Then the dancers came out.”

Author and illustrator Laurent de Brunhoff, heir of beloved ‘Babar’ series, dies at age 98

NEW YORK (AP) — “Babar” author Laurent de Brunhoff, who revived his father’s popular picture book series about an elephant-king and presided over its rise to a global, multimedia franchise, has died. He was 98.

De Brunhoff, a Paris native who moved to the U.S. in the 1980s, died Friday at his home in Key West, Florida, after being in hospice care for two weeks, according to his widow, Phyllis Rose.

Just 12 years old when his father, Jean de Brunhoff, died of tuberculosis, Laurent was an adult when he drew upon his own gifts as a painter and storyteller and released dozens of books about the elephant who reigns over Celesteville, among them “Babar at the Circus” and “Babar’s Yoga for Elephants.” He preferred using fewer words than his father did, but his illustrations faithfully mimicked Jean’s gentle, understated style.

“Together, father and son have woven a fictive world so seamless that it is nearly impossible to detect where one stopped and the other started,” author Ann S. Haskell wrote in The New York Times in 1981.

The series has sold millions of copies worldwide and was adapted for a television program and such animated features as “Babar: The Movie” and “Babar: King of the Elephants.” Fans ranged from Charles de Gaulle to Maurice Sendak, who once wrote, “If he had come my way, how I would have welcomed that little elephant and smothered him with affection.”

De Brunhoff would say of his creation, “Babar, c’est moi” (“that’s me”), telling National Geographic in 2014 that “he’s been my whole life, for years and years, drawing the elephant.”

The books’ appeal was far from universal. Some parents shied from the passage in the debut, “The Story of Babar, the Little Elephant,” about Babar’s mother being shot and killed by hunters. Numerous critics called the series racist and colonialist, citing Babar’s education in Paris and its influence on his (presumed) Africa-based regime. In 1983, Chilean author Ariel Dorfman would call the books an “implicit history that justifies and rationalizes the motives behind an international situation in which some countries have everything and other countries almost nothing.”

“Babar’s history,” Dorfman wrote, “is none other than the fulfillment of the dominant countries’ colonial dream.”

Adam Gopnik, a Paris-based correspondent for The New Yorker, defended “Babar,” writing in 2008 that it “is not an unconscious expression of the French colonial imagination; it is a self-conscious comedy about the French colonial imagination and its close relation to the French domestic imagination.”

De Brunhoff himself acknowledged finding it “a little embarrassing to see Babar fighting with Black people in Africa. He especially regretted “Babar’s Picnic,” a 1949 publication that included crude caricatures of Blacks and American Indians, and asked his publisher to withdraw it.

De Brunhoff was the eldest of three sons born to Jean de Brunhoff and Cecile de Brunhoff, a painter. Babar was created when Cecile de Brunhoff, the namesake for the elephant’s kingdom and Babar’s wife, improvised a story for her kids.

“My mother started to tell us a story to distract us,” de Brunhoff told National Geographic in 2014. “We loved it, and the next day we ran to our father’s study, which was in the corner of the garden, to tell him about it. He was very amused and started to draw. And that was how the story of Babar was born. My mother called him Bebe elephant (French for baby). It was my father who changed the name to Babar. But the first pages of the first book, with the elephant killed by a hunter and the escape to the city, was her story.”

The debut was released in 1931 through the family-run publisher Le Jardin Des Modes. Babar was immediately well received and Jean de Brunhoff completed four more Babar books before dying six years later, at age 37. Laurent’s uncle, Michael, helped publish two additional works, but no one else added to the series until after World War II, when Laurent, a painter by then, decided to bring it back.

“Gradually I began to feel strongly that a Babar tradition existed and that it ought to be perpetuated,” he wrote in The New York Times in 1952.

De Brunhoff was married twice, most recently to the critic and biographer Phyllis Rose, who wrote the text to many of the recent “Babar” publications, including the 2017 release billed as the finale, “Babar’s Guide to Paris.” He had two children, Anne and Antoine, but the author did not consciously write for young people.

“I never really think of children when I do my books,” he told the Wall Street Journal in 2017. “Babar was my friend and I invented stories with him, but not with kids in a corner of my mind. I write it for myself.”
