While customer service experience obtained in the air may be valued more than customer service experience obtained on ground, both use the same principles to provide customers with an excellent service.

With no cabin crew experience, training is a big factor in the future of your flight attendant career. For this reason, it’s important to focus to any flight attendant training you have undertaken.

If you haven’t yet completed any flight attendant training, get cracking on some training courses. Research courses that cover the basics of cabin crew roles and identify the perfect course for you.

It’s also beneficial to complete cabin crew job interview training, as well as training for the general recruitment process, such as training for open days.

How to Professionally Format Your Cabin Crew Cover Letter

Line spacing.

This is a very important aspect of cover letter writing.

To ensure your cover letter is professional and easy-to-read, you must add line spacing between paragraphs.

Cover letters that don’t use line spacing often appear as one huge block of text. Most recruiters won’t even read these letters as they make for such a poor reading experience, so make sure to utilise Microsoft Word’s line spacing feature.

To add spacing to your cover letter, highlight the text, click ‘Layout’, then add 8 pt. spacing in the ‘After’ section.

This will ensure your paragraphs are easily distinguished from each other. It will also optimise your recruiter’s reading experience, which can only be a positive thing!

Ideally, you should be aiming for margin sizes of between 1.7 cm (0.66”) and 2.2 cm (0.86”). Of course, you can widen or narrow the margins further in line with the amount of content you do or don’t have to include. But try not to make them too wide or too narrow in order to ensure your letter is professional in appearance.

Fonts and font sizes

Use common fonts that readers have become accustomed to. These include Times New Roman, Garamond and Calibri.

Don’t be creative with your fonts. At best your cover letter will look unprofessional. At worst it will be too difficult to read.

Font sizes should be between 11 pt. and 12 pt. for most fonts, including Times New Roman, Calibri and Garamond. Make sure your text is neither too small or too large.

Job Application Follow Up

A week or two after applying for the job, it’s advisable to send a job application follow up letter. Follow up letters thank the hiring manager for their time, reinforce what makes you a unique candidate and reiterate your interest in the role.

Keep your follow up letter short and concise. Don’t go into too much detail and try to avoid a pestering tone in your cover letter.

You may think of follow up letter as a bit pushy. However, they are a professional way of recapping on your suitability for the role and demonstrating you’re enthusiasm.

State that your CV is attached/enclosed

It would be a great idea to  mention any transferable skills  that you honed while working in an unrelated job or internship.

Some  skills that you can mention  on your Flight Attendant application include:

• Crisis management

Applications open for paid job as Planters brand ambassador — a Peanutter

Planters has launched a search for the next trio of professional "Peanutters" to escort Mr. Peanut across the country in the one-of-a-kind NUTmobile.

The brand made the announcement on Monday, April Fool's Day, but assures "this is no joke." This will be the third class of Peanutters to take the paid job for one year.

"We are thrilled to be taking applications for our third official class of Peanutters," Patrick Horbas, director of marketing for the Planters brand, said in a statement. "From being the grand marshals of parades to making appearances at community events and grand openings, our Peanutters are fun-loving ambassadors of the iconic Planters brand, bringing smiles and joy to millions of people they meet every year."

The three lucky applicants to get the job will be paid full time for a full year from June 2024 to June 2025.

The Peanutters' job responsibilities include representing the brand in media appearances and interviews.

"The Nutmobile is a rolling public relations firm on wheels that garners millions of media and social impressions each year," the company said.

The Peanutters will also entertain fans at local events across the country, engage with consumers, and volunteer to give back to local communities.

Applicants should have a a bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations or a related field. A "desire to travel, an appetite for adventure and proficiency in nut-related puns is a must."

Emma Thompson is Team Finland all the way and she wants you to know it. In an emotional letter  shared with local newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, the actor detailed her experience working on Brian Kirk’s upcoming action thriller “ The Fisherwoman. ” Set in Minnesota, the film will see two-time Oscar winner as a widow who, while trapped in a blizzard, interrupts the kidnapping of a teenager.

The shoot wasn’t easy, admitted Thompson, who “was often quite scared and often doubted [her] capacity to do the work.” She also executive produces the film. Greg Silverman and Jon Berg produce for Stampede Ventures , while the company’s Gideon Yu and Chris Bosco exec produce. Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo are producing for Augenschein Filmproduktion.

“What supported me at all times was the extraordinary nature of the environment and the people. From the moment I landed, I was met with kindness and warmth, with deep hospitality and humor by people who made my stay in Koli feel more and more like home.”

She praised the Finnish crew, who “seemed to be peculiarly well suited to film work” – “They were calm. They were confident. They worked incredibly hard and without complaint, no matter how insane the hours or the weather” – singling out the so-called “Snow Team.”

“The weather changed, as it always does and when the lake became wet, the snow team dragged sled after sled of fresh snow to cover over the thaw and maintain the continuity. If the weather was wet, they swept the watery sludge off the surfaces and replaced it with dry snow. If the weather was too snowy, they shoveled ton after ton of snow away from the shooting area. They were a great source of comfort and strength to us all, I think,” she added.

She also recalled filming a fight sequence on a frozen lake. “It didn’t matter that I was cold and had pulled every muscle in my body (a daily reminder not to start your action movie career at the age of 64). The beauty sustained me, got me through, was the source of everything, somehow. What I am trying to say – perhaps clumsily because I am still in the middle of the thing and not quite myself – is that shooting in Finland is more than the sum of its parts, its parts being ineffable, and its people being constitutionally remarkably suited to the demands of film.”

“I would give anything to get the chance to work here again and therefore thank everyone who is working so hard to keep the AV incentive alive and kicking,” she said.

As previously reported by  Variety , last year, the Finnish industry appealed to the government to protect film and TV production incentives .

“All these years when we had the incentives, we had opposition in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. These officials just didn’t like the idea. They argue these cuts are necessary, because the state ‘loans’ too much money in general. But our support and incentives actually bring in money,” noted Finnish Film Foundation CEO Lasse Saarinen.

It seems that now, the country has gained a powerful supporter. “I would encourage colleagues in my industry with all my heart to locate productions here – if you need dramatic landscape, it is here, if you need brave-hearted, highly sensitive and indomitable crew people, they are here, if you need comfort and a homely life, it is here,” added the actor.

“I will always be grateful for my time in Finland – I write this on my last day, which I am lucky enough to be spending with friends who have a smoke sauna and an ice-hole. A final blessing from the country that I have learned to love so much and which I will miss with every fiber of my being.”

The wait is finally over—last night, students across the nation were notified of their acceptance or rejection from the Ivy League schools to which they applied. “Ivy Day,” as it is called, not only brings students much-anticipated admissions decisions, but also an overarching picture of admissions trends at the most elite and selective institutions of higher education in America. This year heralds a particularly consequential admissions season for top universities—it is the first since the Supreme Court’s landmark decision ending affirmative action. It also comes amidst heightened tensions on college campuses, as institutional responses to the war in the Middle East left many students questioning their Ivy League dreams.

After years of plummeting admissions rates and ballooning applicant pools, some universities saw the tides turn this cycle. Harvard reported its highest acceptance rate in four years, accepting 3.59% of applicants, up from 3.41% last year. This follows the trend set during the 2023–24 early admissions cycle—their early acceptance rate rose to 8.74% , up from 7.56% in the 2022–23 early admissions cycle. The school also reported a 5.14% decrease in applications from last year, which may, in part, account for the buoyed acceptance rate. Brown noted a similar pattern: the institution’s acceptance rate rose to 5.16% overall, up from 5.09% for the Class of 2027, and saw a 5% decrease in applicants, which totaled 48,881. Despite the slight rise in admissions rates, this year marked the third lowest acceptance rate in Brown’s history. This trend of shrinking applicant pools will likely continue next year, as top schools such as Yale , Brown , and Dartmouth reinstate their standardized testing requirements.

Meanwhile, other Ivy League schools reported starkly different numbers. Rather than thinning, the University of Pennsylvania’s applicant pool swelled by more than 10%, numbering over 65,000—the largest in the university’s history (the university continued its practice of delaying the release of acceptance rates and demographic data). Yale also made history this year, as the school’s acceptance rate hit a historic low at 3.7% , down from 4.35% last year. Dartmouth, too, saw a 10% increase in applications, hitting a record low acceptance rate of 5.3%.

Many schools declined to release the racial and ethnic makeup of their pool of admits (either indefinitely or until the official end of the admissions cycle), following the Supreme Court’s ruling on affirmative action. However, schools tend to report other demographic information, such as the number of students from rural areas and the number of first generation students among those who were accepted.
