The IGNOU has released the guidelines that students must comply while preparing and submitting their assignments. Here are the updated guidelines:

All the assignment should be hand written.

Students must use A4 ruled paper (unless it is instructed on your TMA).

Leave 4 cm margin on left and right side of each page.

Do not use staplers, to bind the pages; you use need threads (what is typically found with cover files).

Avoid using any ink colour other than blue and black.

First you need to attach the cover page (You will find it at your study centre).

Then, attach a photocopy of your IGNOU ID card.

After that, attach a copy of your TMA (question paper on your assignment document).

Lastly, attach your hand written answers.

Leave one blank page in the end.

Do not use any files while submitting your assignments. Your assignment should only consist of the pages, tied with a thread.

You must take a submission receipt, which will be stamped by the study centre with submission dates. In case, your study centre is unable to provide you one, take a photocopy of the cover page of your assignment and get that stamped.

Note: For submission of practicals, you need to use a cover file.

New Link for IGNOU Assignment submission present status, practical and project status.

IGNOU assignment submission status shows the present status of assignment mark or grades transmitted to IGNOU Head Quarter located at New Delhi. The NEW link to check assignment status is given in Table below . The assignment status database is migrated from old server to new server. This data is forwarded by Study Centre or Regional Center and can be checked on ignou.ac.in portal . On this same platform you can check the status of project and practical status also.

IGNOU Assignment status is displayed generally after 30 to 40 days from the final last date for that TEE session (June / December). Many Reasons for non reflection of assignment status is listed below. IGNOU Assignment status for December 2023 has started showing now on the website. It indicates the course code for which assignment data is entered and sent.

IGNOU Assignment status shows almost 95% completed for December 2023 Session. Assignment portal has started showing the status " Received to be processed " online. Study Centers has almost completed feeding data in the transmission portal for TEE December 2023 session . IGNOU assignment status June 2023 is almost completed and is being shown on the intermediate portal online as well in the Grade card also. Click here to Check your present assignment status.

Question : I Submitted Assignment in September - October but mark is not showing.

Answer : This assignment status reflects in January / February. So student need to wait till February.

The Status of IGNOU assignment for June session starts showing on the portal from July onwards. In the same way December session assignment status starts showing in January. The Process of forwarding the marks of assignment the study center has just started for December session.

Assignment status is updated in this intermediate portal when mark / grade is transmitted by Study Center or RC. Status can be checked online minimum after one month of submission. Assignment, Practical, Project marks status first reflects on this intermediate portal, later it is updated in IGNOU Grade card.

• Enter your enrolment number.
• Select your programme.
• Click on submit button.

Why IGNOU assignment status is not showing ? There are several reason for the same described here.

Gap in assignment submission is common in distance learning and guidelines for the same is here . It is important to submit the assignment before last date in order to avoid loss of six month or one session. Download your IGNOU ID card and attaching a copy with your assignment submission is a good practice. Know the reason for non reflection on assignment grades.

Assignment mark is directly updated in the grade card online after few months of submission. Student can also avail Student Supprt Services in case of any need.

Assignment acknowledgement slip is very important to address any grievance related to assignment status. Student is supposed to keep it safely till the mark is updated.

When IGNOU Assignment Marks reflect in IGNOU Grade Card Online ?

It may take approximately 30 days to get updated in the online Grade Card after the online transmission by your IGNOU Study Center/Regional Center.

Large number of students are getting confused about checking their assignment status & marks online after submission of their assignments to the study centre which they prepare diligently. We have made the process easier for students to find their assignment status, marks & results in single centralized place.  

What is the Meaning of different Status message in IGNOU Assignment Submission status ?

There are 3 types of messages which reflects under “Status” Column.

Why My IGNOU assignment status showing online but not updated in grade card ?

There are some cases when Assignment grades are not reflected in Online IGNOU Grade Card even if it is forwarded by Study Center and it appears in intermediate status of assignment portal with the status “ Check Grade Card Status for detail” .  The possible reason for non updation of assignment mark in grade card is given below

Reason 1 : The first possible reason for such cases is, student may have submitted the assignment to the Study Center before their due  session and without completing minimum duration of study.

Example : Student of Jan 2021 admission Cycle (MEG which is Year based) is eligible to submit assignment in Sept / October 2021 – for TEE DEC 2021 Session. If such student submits assignment for TEE June 2021session then data of such student will not be updated on the grade card. In such case student need to contact study center or Regional center for further guidance.

Reason 2 : The Second possible reason for such cases is, Student submit the assignment to the Study Center after their maximum validity of Admission.

Ans: The Weberian theory of social stratification was developed by the German sociologist Max Weber in the early 20th century. According to Weber, social stratification is a system of inequality that is based on the unequal distribution of power, prestige, and wealth among members of society. In other words, it is a system that places people into different classes based on their level of status, income, and access to resources.

Weber identified three main dimensions of social stratification: class, status, and party. Class refers to a person’s economic position in society and is determined by their income, wealth, and occupation. Status refers to a person’s social position or prestige and is determined by their education, occupation, and lifestyle. Party refers to a person’s political power and is determined by their ability to influence government decisions and policies.

Weber argued that social stratification is not solely based on economic factors, as many Marxists believe, but also on social and political factors. For example, a person’s level of education, occupation, and lifestyle can also determine their level of status and influence in society. Additionally, Weber believed that social stratification is not a fixed system, but rather a dynamic one that can change over time.

One of the key concepts in Weber’s theory of social stratification is social closure. Social closure refers to the process by which certain groups try to maintain their position in society by excluding others from access to resources and opportunities. This can be done through a variety of means, such as restricting access to education or jobs, or creating exclusive social networks.

Weber also introduced the concept of life chances, which refers to the opportunities that a person has in life based on their social position. For example, a person born into a wealthy family has a greater chance of success in life than someone born into a poor family. This concept highlights the idea that social stratification can have a significant impact on a person’s life and opportunities.

2. Discuss the bases of social stratification.

Ans: Social stratification is a system of inequality that divides people into different social groups based on their perceived worth or value in society. This division is based on a range of criteria or bases of social stratification, including:

• Occupation: Occupation is closely linked to education, as people with higher levels of education tend to have access to higher-paying and higher-status occupations. However, the type of occupation a person has can also be influenced by factors such as race, gender, and social background.
• Power and Authority: Power and authority refer to the ability to control resources and make decisions that affect others. In many societies, political power and authority are concentrated in the hands of a small group of people, such as a ruling class or a political elite. This concentration of power can be a significant basis for social stratification.
• Social Networks: Social networks refer to the relationships and connections that a person has with others in society. These networks can provide access to resources, information, and opportunities, and can be an important factor in determining a person’s social status.
• Gender: Gender is a significant basis for social stratification in many societies, with men often occupying higher social positions than women. This is due to a range of factors, including gender-based discrimination in education, employment, and political representation.
• Race and Ethnicity: Race and ethnicity are also key bases of social stratification in many societies, with people of certain races and ethnicities often experiencing discrimination and disadvantage in areas such as education, employment, and political representation.

These bases of social stratification are often interrelated and can interact in complex ways. For example, a person’s occupation may be influenced by their level of education, which in turn may be influenced by their family’s wealth and social networks.
