Introduction

Books

When at studying level 7 ( Masters Level ), your academic writing must reflect the level of critical analysis, synthesis and application to practice commensurate with this level of study.

Studying at level 7 means developing your studying practices from those suited to being an independent  learner  to those suited to being an independent  practitioner . You will be working at a more complex and sophisticated level, with a need for broader and more independently sourced resources. You will need not only to evaluate what other people have found but also to put your own knowledge and research into context. You will be expected to be meticulous and professional and show higher standards of scholarship. The advice on this page aims to explain some of the differences between undergraduate and Masters level study.

The full marking criteria for taught postgraduate study can be found at the link below, the information in this section of the guide interprets this information to the context in which you are doing your studies.

  • Assessment handbook See the section on Marking. In particular Annex 2 of this section for detailed marking and assessment criteria for postgraduate work.

Tips for writing coursework at Masters level

Guidance on the requirements for assessments are included in the individual module handbooks.  Some overarching principles will apply across all the assessments for all practitioners:

  • Consider how you can analyse what you are writing to critique your role, the evidence and/or the outcome to show self-awareness of the implications to your practice
  • Avoid simple descriptions and presentation of ideas; try questioning each step in the process, and then use these questions to challenge your practice
  • When analysing situations ensure you consider the opinions of others, either through your workplace-based learning communication and/or the available evidence to produce an outcome i.e. an argument for what you perceive happened/should happen
  • Consider the accuracy, relevance, validity and contribution of evidence i.e. critically appraise the evidence
  • Ensure you bring in reflective elements to your writing, especially in your reflective accounts, remembering these sections should usually be written in the first person
  • When writing reflectively consider how your history/experiences have shaped your career and professional values i.e. how have you been influenced by the circumstances you are describing
  • Think about how you can show critical awareness of current problems and/or new insights in  professional practice

level 7 case study

Key concepts of level 7 writing

Achievement of level 7 study includes:

  • ability to deal with complex problems, integrating theory to professional practice
  • make sound judgements and communicating your conclusions clearly
  • demonstrating self-direction in problem-solving
  • acting autonomously, using own initiative and taking personal responsibility for professional practice
  • critical awareness of professional practice, including self-reflection

A focused approach to your evidence

Not only are your assignments longer, but you are also expected to refer to a wider range of reading; it takes practice to integrate more sources and refer to them skillfully in your writing. You may find that even with a higher word count it is difficult to fit all you want to say in. Itis important to make every source work for you in backing up your points, and not waste words in describing unnecessary parts of the source.

You do not have to refer to each piece of evidence in the same depth. Sometimes you need to show that you understand the wider context of the issue, and a short summary of the key issue and key researchers is all that is needed.

For example:

A significant amount of reading and in-depth understanding of the field is demonstrated in those sentences above. The summary maps out the state of current research and the positions taken by the key researchers.

Sometimes you need to go into greater depth and refer to some sources in more detail in order to interrogate the methods and standpoints expressed by these researchers. For example:

Even in this more analytical piece of writing, only the relevant points of the study and the theory are mentioned briefly - but you need a confident and thorough understanding to refer to them so concisely.

  • Academic Phrasebank Use this site for examples of linking phrases and ways to refer to sources.

Accuracy and awareness of complexity

level 7 case study

If English is not your first language, there is more specialised support and advice available: see the International Study and Language Institute website for more details (link below).

At level 7 you cannot get away with writing about something that you only vaguely understand, or squeezing in a theory in the hope it will gain extra marks - your markers will be able to tell, and this does not demonstrate the accuracy or professionalism of a researcher.

Imagine you write the sentence: "Freudian psychoanalysis demonstrates how our personalities are developed from our childhood experiences."

At level 7, the word 'demonstrates' becomes very loaded and potentially inaccurate. This is because you are expected to interrogate the assumptions, boundaries, and way in which knowledge is constructed in your subject. With this in mind, the sentence above raises a lot of contextual questions: To what extent could Freud's theory of psychoanalysis really be said to 'demonstrate' the origins of our personalities? What part of Freud's many theories are you referring to when you write 'psychoanalysis'? What about the developments in psychoanalysis that have happened since Freud, and the many arguments against his theories? Your writing needs to take these questions into account, and at least be aware of them, even if you don't address all of them.

Do not just stop at discussing the pros and cons of a debate; academics rarely agree on interpretations of theories or ideas, so academic knowledge is more like a complex network of views than two clear sides.

How to master your Level 7 end-point assessment

Charlotte Partington, Subject Matter Expert at BPP, shares guidance on completing the final step of your ICAEW Level 7 Accounting Professional apprenticeship.

As an ICAEW Level 7 apprentice approaching the end-point assessment, you will have spent three to four years developing your knowledge, skills and behaviours. During this time, you will have completed off-the-job training; gained practical experience in the workplace; sat 14 of the 15 ACA exams; and kept your training file up-to-date. Your employer will also have kept track of any other requirements, such as achieving a Level 2 in English and Maths.

Now, it’s time to complete both parts of the end-point assessment. The first part, the ACA Advanced Level Case Study exam, is a four hour invigilated examination in which you must achieve a mark of at least 50%. The second element is the Project Report, requiring you to answer four questions that assess your skills and behaviours over the past 12 months.

“To be a good accountant, you need to be able to advise clients effectively. Up until this point, you have been studying the technical knowledge required to allow you to do this. The end-point assessment allows you to demonstrate that you can combine all this information into a business report, taking account of a client’s specific circumstances and providing useful advice,” Charlotte explains.

1. Case Study exam: study the advanced information

“The Case Study exam puts you in the position of a final year trainee writing a business report on the current position of a client,” Charlotte says. “You are required to advise the client on the best way forward based on information that you can prepare in advance of the exam as well as new information that you receive in the exam.”

Around eight weeks before the exam, ICAEW will publish advanced information on the fictitious client, including the industry they operate in and the products and/or services they provide. It will contain approximately 14 exhibits or around 40 pages of information. You need to fully understand the contents of each exhibit and how they might be used in any of the three Case Study exam questions, known as ‘requirements’.

“It is vitally important that students know the advanced information back to front,” Charlotte adds. “This may initially seem daunting, but remember that there is no other syllabus for the Case Study exam and all the knowledge tested in the exam is brought forward from other exams you have already passed.”

2. Case Study exam: practice, practice, practice

The Case Study exam has a prescribed format: three separate requirements that follow a similar pattern each exam sitting. Although you cannot predict exactly what you will be asked, reviewing past exams will familiarise you with the themes that are covered in each requirement.

“For example, in Requirement 1 you will be required to carry out financial analysis on the most recent management accounts, provided in the exam, and compare them to the previous year’s data, provided in the advanced information,” Charlotte says.

“The exam is time pressured so it is important to have a strategy as to how you will tackle it. Tuition providers will prepare mock exams based on the advanced information to help you fully understand the exhibits and to practise the exam to time. You should practise old case exams to time as attempting all three requirements will give you the best chance of passing.”

3. Case Study exam: understand the marking system

The Case Study exam follows a particular marking grid, which is different to the previous exams you will have sat. “Marking grids for Case Study exams are available from your tuition provider or on the ICAEW website ,” Charlotte adds. “Once you understand the marking grid, you can ensure that you tailor your responses to gain as many marks as possible.”

4. Project Report: plan ahead and manage your time

The Project Report assesses evidence of the skills and behaviours you have built during your apprenticeship. “It’s a chance to reflect on the most relevant work experience examples from the last 12 months and showcase both your aptitude and personal development goals,” Charlotte says.

The report has four requirements that must be addressed. For each requirement, you will identify a situation that best demonstrates your skills and behaviours. It is recommended that each answer is structured into four key sections:

  • Describing the situation.
  • Explaining your actions.
  • Evaluating your effectiveness.
  • Describing the lessons learned.

“Make sure you allow adequate time to prepare the report, use a different situation for each question and ensure there’s enough scope for you to talk about your own contribution to the project or task,” says Charlotte. “The work you’ve done during your apprenticeship will have prepared you well for this report and you should expect to reflect on the varying experiences that you’ve had as well as what you have taken forward as learning points.”

5. Project Report: be precise and specific

“Always use a specific situation, not a general or theoretical situation, and don’t just describe what’s happened,” Charlotte explains. “Reflect on development areas too, and don’t be afraid to talk about things to improve on.”

Marks are also available for well written reports so be aware of using acronyms as well as general spelling, grammar and punctuation. “Leave time to proofread your answers,” Charlotte advises.

After the end-point assessment

Once you have completed and passed the Case Study exam and Project Report, you will have formally completed your Level 7 apprenticeship programme and you will receive your completion certificate. You can then continue to work towards achieving your ACA qualification by completing the 450 hours of Practical Work Experience, Professional Development ladders and Ethics.

Thanks Jackie! I thought the course was structured brilliantly with easy to understand steps within the framework. It built nicely on from the previous step. Also the sounding board for logic was very much appreciated!

I would be totally lost with how to approach the CFP without this course

If I'm completely honest, I'm not sure how I would have even got started with the Level 7 assignment without Jackie's material and help. Her spreadsheet videos were invaluable to my background analysis then her suggestions on how to structure the piece were really helpful as well. E. Cook - Financial Adviser

Case Study | Definition, Examples & Methods

Published on 5 May 2022 by Shona McCombes . Revised on 30 January 2023.

A case study is a detailed study of a specific subject, such as a person, group, place, event, organisation, or phenomenon. Case studies are commonly used in social, educational, clinical, and business research.

A case study research design usually involves qualitative methods , but quantitative methods are sometimes also used. Case studies are good for describing , comparing, evaluating, and understanding different aspects of a research problem .

Table of contents

When to do a case study, step 1: select a case, step 2: build a theoretical framework, step 3: collect your data, step 4: describe and analyse the case.

A case study is an appropriate research design when you want to gain concrete, contextual, in-depth knowledge about a specific real-world subject. It allows you to explore the key characteristics, meanings, and implications of the case.

Case studies are often a good choice in a thesis or dissertation . They keep your project focused and manageable when you don’t have the time or resources to do large-scale research.

You might use just one complex case study where you explore a single subject in depth, or conduct multiple case studies to compare and illuminate different aspects of your research problem.

Prevent plagiarism, run a free check.

Once you have developed your problem statement and research questions , you should be ready to choose the specific case that you want to focus on. A good case study should have the potential to:

  • Provide new or unexpected insights into the subject
  • Challenge or complicate existing assumptions and theories
  • Propose practical courses of action to resolve a problem
  • Open up new directions for future research

Unlike quantitative or experimental research, a strong case study does not require a random or representative sample. In fact, case studies often deliberately focus on unusual, neglected, or outlying cases which may shed new light on the research problem.

If you find yourself aiming to simultaneously investigate and solve an issue, consider conducting action research . As its name suggests, action research conducts research and takes action at the same time, and is highly iterative and flexible.

However, you can also choose a more common or representative case to exemplify a particular category, experience, or phenomenon.

While case studies focus more on concrete details than general theories, they should usually have some connection with theory in the field. This way the case study is not just an isolated description, but is integrated into existing knowledge about the topic. It might aim to:

  • Exemplify a theory by showing how it explains the case under investigation
  • Expand on a theory by uncovering new concepts and ideas that need to be incorporated
  • Challenge a theory by exploring an outlier case that doesn’t fit with established assumptions

To ensure that your analysis of the case has a solid academic grounding, you should conduct a literature review of sources related to the topic and develop a theoretical framework . This means identifying key concepts and theories to guide your analysis and interpretation.

There are many different research methods you can use to collect data on your subject. Case studies tend to focus on qualitative data using methods such as interviews, observations, and analysis of primary and secondary sources (e.g., newspaper articles, photographs, official records). Sometimes a case study will also collect quantitative data .

The aim is to gain as thorough an understanding as possible of the case and its context.

In writing up the case study, you need to bring together all the relevant aspects to give as complete a picture as possible of the subject.

How you report your findings depends on the type of research you are doing. Some case studies are structured like a standard scientific paper or thesis, with separate sections or chapters for the methods , results , and discussion .

Others are written in a more narrative style, aiming to explore the case from various angles and analyse its meanings and implications (for example, by using textual analysis or discourse analysis ).

In all cases, though, make sure to give contextual details about the case, connect it back to the literature and theory, and discuss how it fits into wider patterns or debates.

What Clients Say About Us

Cris and Kathryn couldn’t have been more helpful when trying to fit studying around a busy lifestyle. I found the courses engaging and very enjoyable. Cris has a knack of making tricky parts of the syllabus easy to understand.

I was very fortunate to have Cris Glascow’s support through the CISI Chartered Wealth Manager qualification. Cris really is an expert in his field and has an extremely deep understanding of the subject matter. No questions were left unanswered and he wastes no time responding to queries.  The small class sizes made for an interactive and collaborative learning environment where I never felt unable to ask questions.  He was always available and tailored the sessions, particularly in the run up to exams, to areas the class felt needed more attention. Without Cris’s support the process would not have been so smooth.  Thank you.

Crispin was an invaluable resource to me on my final submission. Whilst I’m confident in my ability to provide financial planning to my clients, that isn’t enough to pass the case study assessment. Having Crispin’s knowledge of the assessment criteria, and his ability to think like an assessor, enabled me to fine tune my plan to pass almost all of the assessment criteria.

Cris was instrumental in guiding me through the CISI Level 7 Financial Plan Case Study. Particularly given that I had completed my Level 4 Diploma through the CII, I was still getting accustomed to how the CISI approaches its qualifications. Generally the CII are very modular in approach whereas the Case Study takes a holistic look at the entire syllabus and requires a candidate to show application of technical knowledge through the 6 steps of the financial planning process. I found it difficult to combine the theoretical and practical financial planning knowledge but with the constant challenge by Cris this became possible over time. He also encouraged me to develop a framework/structure before starting to draft my financial plan, without this I wouldn’t have been successful. Cris also constantly reminded me to stress test my plan and this was something I didn’t initially do – this was another benefit of getting guidance from Cris.

Crispin Glascow is in my opinion the best Financial Services Qualifications trainer out there by far . I started my qualifications journey with Cris back in 2015 . And I have successfully passed all my exams and courses under his tutorage. Most recently my level 7 CISI CFP exam and case study which I passed in 2021. Cris is the perfect trainer and without him I doubt I would have achieved the qualifications I have today.

Cris does not just train you to pass the exams . He tutors and coaches you to understand the subjects in depth . I cannot recommend him highly enough . And I would encourage anyone looking to pass their Level 7 CFP case study to reach out the Cris

The guidance and assistance I received throughout the exam process was perfect for me. The small classes and the support I received every step of the way, was a crucial factor in helping me get over the line. Cris and Kathryn helped me whenever I had any struggles, whether that be a question query or an issue with an exam sitting. I would highly recommend Glascow Consulting to colleagues and others within the Financial Services industry.

I was in a CISI level 6 training Advanced Financial planning workshop hosted by Cris and over the two days of the intensive course feel much more confident ahead of my exam. He explained material very clearly in every section of the syllabus. I have moved qualifications from CII to CISI and Cris was able to explain exam techniques relevant to CISI that was of great help. Would highly recommend Cris.

Cris supported me through the CISI Level 7 Diploma in Advanced Financial Planning and the CISI Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management. His knowledge of the syllabus and the financial services industry is fantastic and the way in which he taught the course material was always extremely engaging and practical. He was quick to respond to all my questions and clarify anything I didn’t quite understand, whilst providing extensive learning material to work through. My level of confidence approaching the exams after working with Cris was far superior to when I had approached exams preparing either alone or with other training providers. I would without doubt recommend to anyone wanting to pursue exams with the CISI to get in touch with Glascow consulting and start working with Cris

Our firm has worked with Glascow Training for several years now, during which time we have called on Cris’s considerable expertise numerous times. Cris has coached CISI exam candidates at all levels and the results have been excellent. The feedback from colleagues who have sought assistance has always reflected his excellent knowledge of both the technical topics and of exam craft. As a training manager I particularly value Glascow Consulting’s responsiveness and flexibility in providing us solutions that fit our needs and Cris’s insight and advice is highly recommended.

The Pension Transfers revision course was highly informative and well structured including time to practice past questions. The mock exam provided was also very useful and very detailed answers. What has also impressed me is the speed and quality of response from Cris to technical questions which I have asked following my attendance on the course. I believe that Cris’s help was instrumental towards me achieving a pass particularly as I had no practical experience in the subject.

Cris thanks for your help during and after the CISI Pension Transfers and Planning Advice course, I found the course and your support invaluable.  My understanding and approach to answering the questions was much improved giving me more confidence in approaching the exam.  It was good to be able to have a wider debate and discussion around the aspects of the syllabus for which I needed more clarification particularly when I don’t work in the industry.

I attended a 2 day workshop in London with Cris in preparation for the first sitting of the new CISI Level 6 Certificate in Advanced Financial Planning exam (March 2020). Having come from doing CII exams Cris was able to clearly explain how the CISI exams differ and guide me through the key parts of the syllabus. His style of teaching had the right balance of intensity and detail without overloading or confusing me and I left feeling in a much more confident and focused position. As a result I passed the exam with Merit and would have no hesitation in recommending Cris to anyone looking to improve their chances of passing.

I was lucky enough to have Cris Glascow as my tutor for the Chartered Wealth Masters. I cannot recommend him enough, I really believe there is no other tutor like him.  His approachable and relaxed nature made the whole learning experience really enjoyable. The depth and breadth of his knowledge is truly incredible and unique. I believe this gave us the real X factor to pass. No question was too much trouble for Cris. His clear teaching style with multiple methods, wealth of experience and speed and efficiency in responding to queries really makes him stand out from the industry. Cris played a momentous part in helping me qualify and I am forever grateful to him.

I had the pleasure of learning from Cris as I was studying towards my CISI Level 7 Diploma in Wealth Management. Whilst studying with Cris I was continually impressed by his depth of knowledge, his wealth of experience as well as his ability to teach and encourage everyone on his courses. He adapts his tuition and material to the groups strengths and weaknesses which I feel is crucial when undertaking such qualifications that require a depth of understanding beyond that which most candidates would possess when begging the qualification.

I would give Cris and Glascow consulting my highest recommendation, I not only completed my qualification in a timely manner but also learned gleaned valuable skills from Cris that without his tutelage I certainly wouldn’t possess today.

Having recruited two trainee advisers for the company I wanted to be sure they were given the best possible training for their level 4  qualification. The decision was taken to find the budget to bring in someone who could help them get through this first time. I had concerns that a centrally organised workshop may not be the answer from previous experience as larger groups are not always effective for every individuals learning style it also meant I could not dovetail the training with their work commitments. I needed something bespoke and I needed the right trainer with the right attitude.

I ascertained that Cris Glascow came with CISI approval so that satisfied my due diligence. I made contact with him and found him to have a flexible attitude and a professional approach. We agreed that he deliver bespoke training events for my trainees as part of their exam preparations.

I never had any doubt in the fact they would pass all elements required first time with the expert help of Cris. They are now level 4 qualified with an embedded knowledge of financial services which they could not have gained from just reading the workbook.

I was sufficiently impressed with Cris that I subsequently asked him to train myself and a newly hired Senior Adviser colleague in the new CISI Pension Transfer & Planning Advice exam. This presented a fresh challenge as it was a new exam and he had to teach us in a subject neither of us had experience in ( DB Pension Transfers) With his help we both passed this exam at the first time of asking which just goes to show " you can teach old dogs new tricks!

Cris Glascow is an excellent financial services trainer. He has had a 100% success rate with our team and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Cris Glascow was my tutor when studying for the CISI Level 7, Chartered Wealth Manager qualification, which I achieved in 2014. Cris was a brilliant tutor, not only did he cover relevant topics but he explained them in a very clear and concise manner. One of the most valuable parts of the support were the mock exams provided. They were set at the appropriate level, they were marked quickly and relevant feedback was provided. To have a well prepared, approachable and knowledgeable tutor is so important when studying for the CISI exams especially at higher levels and as such I would strongly recommend Cris as a tutor to anyone studying for CISI qualifications. He is an excellent tutor.

I am very grateful to Cris for helping me with my studies for the Applied Wealth Management CISI exam. Cris is an expert in all areas of course material and I have no doubt in recommending him to anyone looking to pursue financial qualifications.

Cris was also very approachable outside of teaching hours which showed his genuine passion for teaching.

Cris tutored me through the CISI Wealth Management program and under his guidance I passed all three modules on first attempt. His advice and tutoring were invaluable, and he made himself available to answer questions and help out at all times of day. His customised questions and detailed answers were particularly useful. Thanks Cris, I'm sure I couldn't have done it without you

Cris stands out as someone that genuinely understands both the content of his training material and the individual needs of those taking the course. His training sessions are well paced and flow naturally between topics, with sufficient time reserved for open conversations and individual questions. Cris succeeds in creating an engaging learning environment which is supported by an impressive pass rate. I would happily recommend him to anyone and will certainly be working with him again.

I was fortunate enough to have Cris deliver training to me for a number of CFP modules to me at a big 4 consultancy. Cris was fantastic from start to finish - most notably he knows his subject matter inside-out, delivers this knowledge and responds to questions in a logical and methodical manner - breaking complex concepts down into manageable chunks - and with a sense of humour. I highly recommend Cris to anyone considering training within his fields of expertise.

I had the pleasure of being taught by Cris for my Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification. Cris is enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable on his subject matters and teaches in a way that is easily understood. He is incredibly supportive, not only whilst in the training session but also by responding to questions on the material in personal study time. I felt well prepared for each of the exams I sat having been taught by Cris. Cris’ achievement record speaks for itself and I would be happy to recommend him to anyone who is looking for an excellent trainer for financial services exams

I was fortunate enough to be taught by Cris for the revision course for Portfolio Construction Theory and the Applied Management course. His level of knowledge was second to none and I found his teaching methods to be very clear and easy to understand. Any questions I had out of class were answered very thoroughly and timely, even late at night and also on the weekends. I have no doubt that my pass success was attributable to Cris. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to study towards a financial exam.

Coordinated use of Health Level 7 standards to support clinical decision support: Case study with shared decision making and drug-drug interactions

Background: Despite advances in interoperability standards, it remains challenging and often costly to share clinical decision support (CDS) across healthcare organizations. This is due in part to limited coordination among CDS components. To improve coordination of CDS components, Health Level 7 (HL7) has developed a suite of interoperability standards with Fast Health Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specification as a common information model. Evidence is needed to determine the feasibility of implementing these CDS components; therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the coordination of emerging HL7 standards with modular CDS architecture components.

Methods: We used a modular, standards-based architecture consisting of four components: data, logic, services, and applications. The implementation use-case was an application to support shared decision making in the context of drug-drug interactions (DDInteract).

Results: DDInteract uses FHIR as the data representation model, Clinical Quality Language for logic representation, CDS Hooks for the services layer, and Substitutable Medical Apps Reusable Technologies for application integration. DDInteract was first implemented in a sandbox environment and then in an electronic health record (Epic®) test environment. DDInteract can be integrated in clinical workflows through on-demand access from a menu or through CDS Hooks upon opening a patient's record or placing a medication order.

Conclusion: In the context of drug interactions, DDInteract is the first application to leverage a full stack of emerging interoperability standards for each component of modular CDS architecture. The demonstrated feasibility of interoperable components can be generalized to other modular CDS applications.

Keywords: Clinical decision support; Drug-drug interactions; Electronic health record; HL7 FHIR; Interoperability.

An Overview of Case Studies

A case study is a research method used to study a particular individual, group, or situation in depth. It involves analyzing and interpreting data from a variety of sources to gain insight into the subject being studied.

Case studies are often used in psychology, business, and education to explore complicated problems and find solutions. They usually have detailed descriptions of the subject, background info, and an analysis of the main issues.

The goal of a case study is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Typically, case studies can be divided into three parts, challenges, solutions, and results.

Marketing case studies are real-life stories that showcase how a business solves a problem. They typically discuss how a business achieves a goal using a specific marketing strategy or tactic.

They typically describe a challenge faced by a business, the solution implemented, and the results achieved.

This is a short sample marketing case study for you to get an idea of what an actual marketing case study looks like.

Here are some more popular marketing studies that show how companies use case studies as a means of marketing and promotion:

“Chevrolet Discover the Unexpected” by Carol H. Williams

This case study explores Chevrolet's “ DTU Journalism Fellows ” program. The case study uses the initials “DTU” to generate interest and encourage readers to learn more.

Multiple types of media, such as images and videos, are used to explain the challenges faced. The case study concludes with an overview of the achievements that were met.

Key points from the case study include:

  • Using a well-known brand name in the title can create interest.
  • Combining different media types, such as headings, images, and videos, can help engage readers and make the content more memorable.
  • Providing a summary of the key achievements at the end of the case study can help readers better understand the project's impact.

“The Met” by Fantasy

“ The Met ” by Fantasy is a fictional redesign of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, created by the design studio Fantasy. The case study clearly and simply showcases the museum's website redesign.

The Met emphasizes the website’s features and interface by showcasing each section of the interface individually, allowing the readers to concentrate on the significant elements.

For those who prefer text, each feature includes an objective description. The case study also includes a “Contact Us” call-to-action at the bottom of the page, inviting visitors to contact the company.

Key points from this “The Met” include:

  • Keeping the case study simple and clean can help readers focus on the most important aspects.
  • Presenting the features and solutions with a visual showcase can be more effective than writing a lot of text.
  • Including a clear call-to-action at the end of the case study can encourage visitors to contact the company for more information.

“Better Experiences for All” by Herman Miller

Herman Miller's minimalist approach to furniture design translates to their case study, “ Better Experiences for All ”, for a Dubai hospital. The page features a captivating video with closed-captioning and expandable text for accessibility.

The case study presents a wealth of information in a concise format, enabling users to grasp the complexities of the strategy with ease. It concludes with a client testimonial and a list of furniture items purchased from the brand.

Key points from the “Better Experiences” include:

  • Make sure your case study is user-friendly by including accessibility features like closed captioning and expandable text.
  • Include a list of products that were used in the project to guide potential customers.

“NetApp” by Evisort

Evisort's case study on “ NetApp ” stands out for its informative and compelling approach. The study begins with a client-centric overview of NetApp, strategically directing attention to the client rather than the company or team involved.

The case study incorporates client quotes and explores NetApp’s challenges during COVID-19. Evisort showcases its value as a client partner by showing how its services supported NetApp through difficult times.

  • Provide an overview of the company in the client’s words, and put focus on the customer.
  • Highlight how your services can help clients during challenging times.
  • Make your case study accessible by providing it in various formats.

“Red Sox Season Campaign,” by CTP Boston

The “ Red Sox Season Campaign ” showcases a perfect blend of different media, such as video, text, and images. Upon visiting the page, the video plays automatically, there are videos of Red Sox players, their images, and print ads that can be enlarged with a click.

The page features an intuitive design and invites viewers to appreciate CTP's well-rounded campaign for Boston's beloved baseball team. There’s also a CTA that prompts viewers to learn how CTP can create a similar campaign for their brand.

Some key points to take away from the “Red Sox Season Campaign”:

  • Including a variety of media such as video, images, and text can make your case study more engaging and compelling.
  • Include a call-to-action at the end of your study that encourages viewers to take the next step towards becoming a customer or prospect.

“Airbnb + Zendesk” by Zendesk

The case study by Zendesk, titled “ Airbnb + Zendesk : Building a powerful solution together,” showcases a true partnership between Airbnb and Zendesk.

The article begins with an intriguing opening statement, “Halfway around the globe is a place to stay with your name on it. At least for a weekend,” and uses stunning images of beautiful Airbnb locations to captivate readers.

Instead of solely highlighting Zendesk's product, the case study is crafted to tell a good story and highlight Airbnb's service in detail. This strategy makes the case study more authentic and relatable.

Some key points to take away from this case study are:

  • Use client's offerings' images rather than just screenshots of your own product or service.
  • To begin the case study, it is recommended to include a distinct CTA. For instance, Zendesk presents two alternatives, namely to initiate a trial or seek a solution.

“Influencer Marketing” by Trend and WarbyParker

The case study "Influencer Marketing" by Trend and Warby Parker highlights the potential of influencer content marketing, even when working with a limited budget.

The “Wearing Warby” campaign involved influencers wearing Warby Parker glasses during their daily activities, providing a glimpse of the brand's products in use.

This strategy enhanced the brand's relatability with influencers' followers. While not detailing specific tactics, the case study effectively illustrates the impact of third-person case studies in showcasing campaign results.

Key points to take away from this case study are:

  • Influencer marketing can be effective even with a limited budget.
  • Showcasing products being used in everyday life can make a brand more approachable and relatable.
  • Third-person case studies can be useful in highlighting the success of a campaign.

Health Level Seven (HL7) Individual Case Study Report (ICSR)

eMDR uses the Health Level Seven (HL7) Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) standard to receive medical device adverse events reports (MDRs).  Each adverse event report is described by an XML document that follows the ICSR XML schema.

Low volume reporters using the ESG WebTrader site will utilize the FDA eSubmitter tool to generate the ICSR-compliant XML. Once entry of the MDR information is completed, the software generates a zip file containing an ICSR -compliant XML file.

High volume reporters using the AS2 Gateway will be required to generate the ICSR XML for each MDR using their own software. Once an AS2 submission system has been set up, they often generate and submit MDRs automatically as part of a firm’s complaint handling process.

The HL7 ICSR message supports the exchange of data and other safety reporting requirements between various public health and patient safety organizations—specifically, reporting of adverse events or product problems associated with the use of drugs, therapeutic biologics, vaccines, and devices.

The parts of the ICSR implemented via eMDR map to the device reporting requirement sections of the current MedWatch Form 3500A. The CDRH files include a “schema” or “file format” to utilize for submission of MDR data as an ICSR message. Reporters can use the specified format to submit MDR data.

Technical specifications for implementation of ICSR for the eMDR project are provided in a package of files. To download the files, please go to Health Level Seven (HL7) Individual Case Safety Reporting (ICSR) Files .
