What to write in the explanation letter for multiple-entry japan visa for filipinos.

One of the requirements I passed when I applied for a multiple-entry Japan visa last January 2019 is an explanation letter indicating as to why I am applying for such. Several blogs have indicated as well that they have included an explanation letter in their application.

For me, the two reasons as to why I submitted one are 1.) the space in the “Request Form for a Multiple-Entry Visa” is quite small and it won’t be sufficient for me to write my explanation and 2.) this strengthens my application as I can explain better as to why I am applying for a multiple-entry visa.

Sharing below what I wrote in my explanation letter.  PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND PASTE WHAT I WROTE IN YOUR OWN EXPLANATION LETTER. Each applicant has his or her own reasons as to why they are applying for one. Also, each one of us has different experiences and situations we are in. Thus, just use this blog post as a guide as to what you need to include in your own letter.

1. START WITH THE BASICS

First, write on top the address of the Japan Embassy then followed by the topic or what this document is all about. This is then followed by the date when you wrote the letter and then the salutation or greetings.

2. INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND STATE YOUR PREVIOUS JAPAN TRIPS

Start your letter by introducing yourself (write your full name including middle name) and state immediately that you are applying for a multiple-entry visa. Afterwards, write your previous trips to Japan, where did you go specifically, for how long did you stay, and who you traveled with. I highly suggest that those applying for a multiple-entry visa should have at least visited Japan once using a single-entry visa. This goes to show that you have been screened before by the Embassy and you have proved that you returned to the Philippines after your trip.

3. STATE YOUR UPCOMING TRIP TO JAPAN AND REASON AS TO WHY YOU WILL BE NEEDING A MULTIPLE-ENTRY VISA

In my case, I have an upcoming trip to Japan in less than three months from the date of my application. I included the details of my upcoming trip in the letter such as the length of my stay and the places that I intend to visit. Include these details as well in your explanation letter. Of course, without an upcoming trip, why are you then applying for a visa? Thus, this is quite important.

Afterwards, then state as to why you are applying for a multiple-entry visa. In my case, it is as simple as I want to visit other areas in Japan in the future that is why I am applying for such. This could be the same reason as to why most Filipinos are applying for a multiple-entry. Just be honest and include some of your memorable experiences in Japan and why would you want to come back over and over again.

4. PROVE THAT YOU ARE FINANCIALLY CAPABLE FOR YOUR TRIP IN JAPAN

This is one of the important parts of the letter – proving you are capable of supporting yourself during your stay in Japan. In my case, I first stated my employment background – the current company that I am working at, my current position, and for how many years I have been working for this company. Also, I stated the countries I have recently visited. I stated these information to prove that I can support myself in my upcoming trip. You can actually include more information that you think will help you look capable in supporting your trip.

Also if there are some documents you submitted that you would like to explain, you can do so. Example, if you are doing freelance work, then explain the documents you submitted. Also if you are a student and being supported by your parents, then explain this as well in your explanation letter. In my case, I did not submit my ITR for 2018 as it was not available yet from our Accounting department when I submitted my visa application.

5. END YOUR LETTER WITH YOUR CONTACT DETAILS

End your letter by saying that you are hoping that they will consider your request and leave your contact details as well in case they have further questions.

That’s it! Five simple guidelines as to what you need to include or write in your explanation letter. Before ending this blog post, I have several reminders and tips when you write this document.

a. Be honest in what you write in this letter. For example, if you intend to write the previous countries you have visited, make sure this is true as well as they can double check your passport stamps to verify.

b. As much as possible, just write a one-page explanation letter.   The Embassy receives thousands of applications daily. Thus, it is important to be concise with your explanation.

c. Make sure that what you write in your explanation letter is cohesive with what you will also include in the “Request Form for a Multiple-Entry Visa”. If these two explanations are different, this may result to denial of visa application.

Hope this blog helps and enjoy your trip to Japan! If you have further questions, you can comment below or personally message me on Instagram @travelwithdarel. Thank you!

Tips for writing a cover letter sample for Japan visa

Writing a cover letter for Japan visa can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not familiar with the Japanese culture and their visa application procedures. However, by following some tips, you can create a convincing cover letter that will increase your chances of getting your visa approved.

Firstly, make sure to address your cover letter to the relevant authority. In Japan, the visa application process is handled by the Embassy or Consulate, so it’s important to address your letter to the person in charge of the visa application. You can usually find the information on their website or by contacting them directly.

Secondly, explain the purpose of your trip to Japan clearly and concisely. Whether you’re visiting Japan for tourism, study, or business, make sure to state your intentions in a straightforward manner. If you’re visiting Japan for business, for example, mention the name of your company and the reason for your visit.

Thirdly, provide evidence that you have enough funds to cover your trip to Japan. Japan has strict visa requirements, and one of them is that you should have enough savings to cover all of your expenses during your stay. You can provide bank statements or proof of employment to show that you have the financial means to support yourself.

Fourthly, be honest and genuine in your cover letter. Japan values honesty and integrity, and a dishonest or fake cover letter will not only hurt your chances of getting a visa but also damage your reputation.

Finally, make sure to proofread your cover letter several times and have someone else read it. Spelling and grammatical errors can give the impression of carelessness, and it shows that you didn’t put enough effort into your application.

In conclusion, writing a cover letter for Japan visa requires careful attention to detail and adherence to strict requirements. By following the above tips, you can create a convincing cover letter that will help you obtain your visa and make your trip to Japan successful.

How I Wrote my Letter of Explanation Japan Tourist Visa

How I Wrote My Letter of Explanation for Japan Tourist Visa

Japan Letter of Explanation

A lot of people are interested to go to Japan because of the cheap flights being offered by some local airlines here in the Philippines. I received a lot of inquiries on Getting A Japan Tourist Visa in the Philippines without Income Tax Return especially on how I wrote my letter of explanation. Now, here’s a screenshot of the draft I wrote last year.

This letter I wrote was the second time I applied for a visa which the intention is to get a multiple entry visa. I wasn’t granted for the multiple entry, but I am still happy that they granted me a single-entry tourist visa.

Greet them in Japanese

Be Honest and Clear with your Intentions in traveling to Japan

I think one reason why I wasn’t granted a multiple entry visa is because I don’t have any proof of employment as what I have mentioned in my letter, I quit my job and do volunteer work. What’s important is Embassy of Japan granted me a tourist visa to get in Japan the second time around on the same year.

To get that Japan tourist visa, you have to show that in your bank certificate, you have enough money to travel in Japan. Although it is expensive, I was able to get around on a low budget. Aside from bank certificate, I also submitted the original copy of Stock Investment Certification.

Hi Miss Roxanne, I am planning to visit Japan early jan or feb next year. I dont have an ITR for this year as I shifted from being in a Corporate employee to a freelancer. I have a bank account as well. My question is, is there any estimated money on my bank like 30k or 50k for only 7days visit? I just wanted to have this trip as a birthday gift for myself. I’ve to China, Malaysia, Vietnam, HongKong and Cambodia but that was way way over 3 years ago. Will travel documents suffice as an alternative with my old passport stamps since I’ve lost my old passport. Hope to hear from you soon.

At least 50k, the more money, the better.

Hi ma’am roxane. Tanong lang maam, kelangan parin ba ng explanation of letter japan tourist visa? Kahit my business permit ka, itr, dti, bank statement? Kasi plan ko this week pasa ng documents ko.

Saka maam, bago yung passport ko kc nawala yund old passport ko. Makikita ba ang travelled history ko since 2003, and last travelled ko is 2009.

Yes po. Just complete all the documents that you can afford Japan trip.

Need po ba talaga na naka passbook ang bank account mo o ok lang po kahit ATM lang po?

Submit a bank certificate po as mentioned. ATM Lang po saken.

Okay po thank you po Miss Roxanne!

Hello po Miss Roxanne! Ang husband ko lang po ba ang kelangan magpasa ng mga requirements sya naman ang mag sho-shoulder expenses namin.

Good day Miss ROxanne,

HI, i already went to Japan last May 2017. In my single entry visa, i have a guarantor for my bank certificate. Now, I am planning to apply for a multiple visa, but on my own account. Is there a possibility that it will be approved even the bank certificate was different from the first one that i passed for the single entry visa before? Would it will have effect on my multiple visa application?

Arigatou Gozaimasu. 🙂

Pray for it. Kung Di ka ma grant multiple entry, single entry, at least not bad. Go for it.

Hi.. I have US Visa. I heard dont need anymore a tourist visa to Japan? Any idea if that’s accurate?

No need visa for you. You have 90 days in Japan which is really awesome.

Thanks Roxanne. Really appreciate it.

Will there be some form to fill out (just like how Taiwan do it) it will just present the US Visa to Japan immigration upon entry?

I think none.

Hi is this true po? Kasi we are planning to apply for a Japan visa.

Yes, this is true po.

Hello…. Ive read some bloggers about kung paano sila mag process ng visa. Ask ko lng po….ano po ung mas maganda??? Okay lng ba na ako nlng mismo ang mag fafile ng visa to japan embassy or kailangan ko tlaga mag travel agency???

Accredited travel agency po

Hello Roxanne. Im from Leyte, Philippines. Pupunta kami ng family ko consisting of my husband and 2 daughter (11yrs. & 1 yr. old) sa Japan this coming Feb. 2018 to visit a friend. Nakabili kasi kami ng promo tickets tsaka 4days lang kami dun. Sa tingin mo po, ok napo ba yung 150k para sa bank certificate for the 4 of us? Although meron nman kaming titirhan dun kasi ng-offer din yung bestfriend ko na dun tumira sa kanila pero ayoko rin naman cyang kulitin cya sa mga requirements na kelangan din nyang isubmit. At tsaka kelangan din ng Explanation letter about the relationship with the applicant, ako ba ang mgpo-provide nun or yung bestfriend ko? Sorry talaga pero andami palang requirement ng Japan Visa hindi gaya ng S.Korea. Thank you.

Ikaw mag susulat ng letter of explanation

Hello Miss Rox. Salamat.

Oh good. I have a cousin in Osaka but I applied as tourist with no guarantor. You did a great job. 😊

Did the Philippine immigration ask you if you know anyone in Japan?

Hi Ms. Rox! I have a question regarding may documents. Kasi I just got married last January and may Bank account and passport(which i got last december 2016 lang) is still maiden name pa din kaya yung plane ticket ko maiden name ko din ginamit ko kasi yun yung sa passport.

Thank you so much. 🙂

Yeah write letter of explanation and any proof you got married or maybe wedding photos.

Hi Ms Rox! I have a follow up question, My idea ka ba kung anong name dapat ang ilgay ko sa pag fill up ng Visa Application, is it may maiden name or my married name na? i am still using my maiden name sa passport at sa ticket na binili ko.. Thank you 🙂

No idea but bring your marriage certificate and use the maiden name I guess

hi! nakapag travel na ako sa japan last 2015 yung nanay ko nagwork dun ininvite ako pero andito na sya ngayon plano naming bumalik dun ngayong April do I need to write a letter if I` m going back there with my mom and my daughter?

If you have enough finances and job dito sa Pilipinas you’ll be fine to apply.

hi roxanne! when you were granted a multiple entry visa, did you perhaps bought JR Pass as well? is multiple entry visa with temporary status accepted that time? i was searching the net and one JR Pass seller mentioned that multiple entry visa holders cannot use JR Pass… thank you!

I wasn’t granted a multiple entry visa and I never bought JR pass po.

Hi Roxy, good read! I was reading other blog’s and said to check “ROX” letter for Japan’s Visa with NO ITR. Upon seeing the Roxanne M. Tamayo, I was wondering if this is the same person I have hiked with in Mt. Batulao years ago. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I’ve never been to Mt. Batulao po 😂😂😂

“Oh the places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss

Helo poh maam..ASK Lng poh maam ung guarantee letter na ipinadala sa akin ng tita ko na confuse poh kc ako kc sabi niya ang reason daw naelgay ko ay baby sitter..saan poh don elalagay?

Oh is that for work? Patay ka nyan. Dapat iinvite ka as relative. Di Dapat imention baby sitter.

Good day po mag ask lang po ok lang po ba if magpresent kami parehas ng guarantor q ng bank certificate kasi maliit lng ung pera ng guarantor q sa bank acct. nia?

That I don’t know. If your guarantor has small money sa bank account Nya, then it’s not convincing to be your guarantor.

How much po ba ang dapt ng laman sa banko ng guarantor q if need namen ng 90days kaht mga 30-50lapad pwede na po ba un..?

I have no idea po. The embassy of Japan will ask,for other, documents anyway.

Yes you need to write a letter.

H, 3 times na ko nagapply for tourist visa with conplete documents. My husband is japanese but separated. Its that my surname matters? Thanks

Your complete documents matter.

hi, I went to Japan with my Mom 3 years ago with my brother who is married to a Japanese as our guarantor…this time I am applying for a MULTIPLE VISA, as a tourist with no guarantor, Currently working in a BPO company, I have my bank certificate, COE & ITR already. Do you think I need to tell them that I will be visiting my brother and his family in the Letter of explanation ?. or better not to talk about it if not asked?

Hi Jojo! Actually, if depends on you. I went to Japan twice solo trip and only applied tourist visa with no guarantor although I have a cousin in Osaka.

Thanks, I’ve already forwarded my application to the agency last Saturday (04/07/18), and I think the result will come out anytime this week… hoping I could get Multiple then…

Balitaan mo ako. I’m planning to apply multiple entry as well.

I was granted single entry visa, not bad then. At least di ako na denied. We really can’t tell when they are giving Multiple or just a Single entry visa.

Wow Jojo! congrats! 😀

Thanks Rox! Mata ne!!

Good day gusto q sana malaman po pag nag apply ka po ba ng 90days sila pa din ba mag dedecide kung ilang araw tlga ang ibbigay sayo…thank you

I am employed here in PH, no worries about the financial requirements. Hope you could help me with this kind of matter.

Just apply for single entry visa first coz that will be the initial to give you. if they will give you multiple entry visa, then you’re lucky.

But better talaga visit ka muna Japan as a tourist.

Hi po.. do you format of explanation later of no baptismal certificate (late registered po kasi eh)

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Just explain that you have no baptismal certificate. How is it going? Did you apply na ba?

Hello ms. Roxan ask ko lng kung ano pwd e reason out pag wala ITR,im a insurance agent..and it happen po n may company drives for 5days po ung insurance na pinagtratrabahuan ko, as agent lng po ako don pero kasama ako sa drives ..the problem is i dont have ITR kasi di pa ko nkapag file last year ng ITR ko…

Just say you are an insurance agent and you haven’t filed for tax payment although you will have plans in the future to have one.

good day Ms.Roxanne Ask q lang.planning to apply japan visa with my son , i’m self employed with DTI and Business permit but no ITR it’s a home base travel and tours. My sister will shouldered our fare because it’s a treat for her 50th birthday! Is it okay ung may Guarantor na lang gamitin q? I can provide my bank certificate only ITR lang wala aq.

Hi Jocelyn,

You can submit your DTI and business permit, it’s a good proof that you can travel. And also show your bank certificate. If you don’t have ITR, just write an explanation that you don’t have one but you are planning to get one. 🙂 Good luck sa Japan. You’ll get it.

Hindi po ba required ang COE? I am currently employed but I plan to resign in June and work as a freelancer.

Saken naman I don’t have COE. You can submit COE if you are still employed while applying for a visa.

Hi! My mom, dad, and sister are traveling to Japan next month. Mag a-apply pa lang kami ng visa within this week. I jus twant to clarify lang kung ano kailangang requirements. Ang mom ko mag sho-shoulder ng expenses. She’s a retired government employee and senior citizen na. My dad no longer works din kasi senior na rin so pahinga na sya. My sister is employed but di na sya mag su-submit ng cert of employment and ITR since our mom will shoulder all the expenses. Ako naman unemployed. Ano po ba ang kailangan pa na papers as supporting documents? Wala ITR mom namin dince retired na sya. Susulat po ba kami ng letterof explanation na mom ko mag sho-shoulder ng expenses? Thank you po.

Yes you need to write a letter of explanation that your mom will shoulder the expenses. Ang tanong, how much money your mom has in her bank account? Make sure for 3-5 people, the money in the bank account will convince the embassy that your mom can shoulder everything.

Inviting again my daughter kc nadeny visa nya for student visa and okanning to invite her again and try to apply again to study in college school kailngan b indicate na na denay cy dati for student visa

Hi po. Wala po ako masyadong idea sa student visa po. Sorry talaga.

Hi… me and my partner, we are not married are applying for a single entry visa for japan, we are travelling with a group of friends 6 from the other family, then kme ng partner ko, with our 7 year old daughter and 71 year old mother, to celebrate our birthdays , October celebrants kase kame. Ang travel namin is Nov 17- 25, 2019. We have plane tickets already and book and paid na rin ang 2ng hotel namin sa aming 8 day stay in japan. The problem lies with my partner, he is a freelance musician, no itr and has a record of overtaying with Japan 1990 to 2000. He voluntarily surrendered on April 2000 , thus he was able to come back to the Philipines, year 2000, he never came back to Japan ever since. We made an explanation letter regarding his no ITR, he has enough money on his bank, kay a meron syang bank cert on his own, meron syang BIR registration as freelance mucisian registerd only this year, and meron syang official receipt under his name, so ngayon end year pa lang sya mag fifile para magka ITR. Ang kinakabahan kme yung sa overstaying nya ng 10 years sa Japan 19 years ago. We ere advised by Reli Tours to submit another letter explanation with apology on the circumstances surrounding the said overstaying 19 years ago, and say na nag voluntary surrender sya.

Show all the documents that he is a tax-registered musician and be honest about your intention of visiting Japan and his single entry visa.

Schengen Visa Cover Letter for Multiple Entry in 2024 [Samples Included]

What is a schengen visa cover letter.

A Schengen Visa cover letter is a letter accompanying your visa application. It is addressed to the consulate or embassy where you are applying and provides additional information that is not covered in the application form.

For multiple-entry visas, the cover letter serves as your opportunity to explain why you need to travel frequently to the Schengen Area.

Why is the Cover Letter Important?

The cover letter is your personal introduction to the visa officers. It offers a glimpse into your travel intentions, your ties to your home country, and your financial capacity.

Given that visa officers have limited time to go through each application, a well-crafted cover letter can make your application stand out.

For multiple-entry visas, in particular, it’s essential to justify why you need to enter the Schengen Area multiple times.

How To Write Your Schengen Visa Cover Letter For Multiple Entry

1. Personal Details: Begin with your name, passport number, and date of drafting the letter. Address the letter to the consulate where you’re applying. If you don’t know the specific name of the visa officer, “To whom it may concern” is acceptable.

2. Introduction: Start by specifying the type of visa you’re applying for – in this case, a multiple-entry Schengen visa. Mention your travel dates, the first Schengen country you’ll be entering, and the main purpose of your visit.

3. Travel Itinerary: Since you’re applying for a multiple-entry visa, you should provide a detailed itinerary of each intended visit. This includes entry and exit dates, countries to be visited, accommodation details, and the purpose of each visit.

4. Purpose of Multiple Entries: Clearly justify why a multiple-entry visa is necessary. Are you attending a series of business meetings spread over months? Do you have family in two different Schengen countries that you plan to visit frequently? Be concise and precise.

5. Financial Proof: Reiterate that you have the necessary funds for all your visits. Attach bank statements, salary slips, or sponsorship letters as evidence.

6. Ties to Home Country: This is to assure the visa officers that you will return after your visit. Mention your job, properties, or family ties that would compel you to come back.

7. Conclusion: Conclude by stating that all the provided information is accurate. Express gratitude for considering your application and provide contact details for any further required information.

8. Signature: End with your signature and name.

What Is The Difference between Single and Multiple Entry Visas?

When planning a trip to the Schengen Area, it’s essential to understand the difference between single and multiple entry visas. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Single Entry Visa: This visa allows the holder to enter the Schengen Area once. Once you exit the Schengen territory, the visa expires, regardless of its original validity duration. It’s ideal for travelers with a straightforward trip plan without multiple entries and exits from the Schengen Area.
  • Multiple Entry Visa: As the name suggests, a multiple entry visa permits the visa holder to enter and exit the Schengen Area multiple times within the visa’s validity period. It’s suitable for travelers with business or personal reasons that necessitate multiple trips within a short timeframe.

I’ve been granted a multiple-entry Schengen visa before. Do I still need to submit a detailed cover letter for my next application?

Yes, even if you have previously been granted a multiple-entry Schengen visa, you are still required to submit a detailed cover letter for your next application.

This letter should clearly state the purpose of your visit, your travel plans, and any other pertinent details.

The cover letter is a crucial part of your application as it provides the consulate with context about your travel intentions and assures them of your compliance with visa regulations.

How many trips can I make with a multiple-entry Schengen visa?

A multiple-entry Schengen visa allows you to make several trips within its validity period. The number of trips is not explicitly limited; however, you must adhere to the 90/180 rule.

This rule states that you cannot stay in the Schengen area for more than 90 days within any 180-day period.

Ensure that your travel plans comply with this restriction to avoid issues at border control or future visa applications.

Do I need to provide detailed itineraries for all my intended trips when applying for a multiple-entry visa?

While applying for a multiple-entry Schengen visa, it’s advisable to provide a detailed itinerary for your first trip.

For subsequent trips, a general outline of your travel plans, including approximate dates and purposes, is usually sufficient.

It’s important to demonstrate that you have a clear plan and purpose for your travels within the Schengen area.

However, you are not expected to provide an exhaustive day-by-day itinerary for every trip you might make under the visa.

Tips for a Compelling Cover Letter

  • Be Concise: Visa officers prefer direct and straightforward letters. Avoid unnecessary details.
  • Provide Clear Justifications: Since the multiple-entry visa is not granted as frequently as a single-entry, your reasons for needing multiple entries should be compelling and clearly stated.
  • Attach Supporting Documents: Although the cover letter mentions all details, always attach relevant documents like invitation letters, flight bookings, or hotel reservations for each visit.

What Are the 4 most common Rejection Reasons?

Obtaining a multiple-entry Schengen visa can be slightly more challenging than a single entry, mainly because one needs to provide a convincing reason for requiring multiple entries. Common rejection reasons include:

  • Insufficient Documentation: Not providing enough evidence to justify the need for multiple entries.
  • Lack of Travel Insurance: Inadequate travel insurance that doesn’t cover the entire duration of the trips planned.
  • Previous Visa Violations: If you’ve overstayed on a previous Schengen visa or violated visa terms, it might impact your new application.
  • Inconsistent Information: Discrepancies in the application or between the cover letter and supporting documents can raise suspicions.

How soon after my first trip can i revisit the schengen area with a multiple-entry visa.

Absolutely. A multiple-entry visa provides you with the flexibility of multiple visits, but there’s no obligation to use it more than once.

Will travel restrictions due to the pandemic affect the validity or use of my multiple-entry visa?

Travel restrictions are subject to change based on the prevailing situation. It’s advisable to check current travel advisories and the official guidelines of the specific Schengen country you intend to visit.

In case of visa rejection, can I reapply immediately?

Yes, you can reapply if your visa application is denied. However, it’s crucial to understand the reason for rejection and address it in your subsequent application to increase the chances of approval.

Japan Tourist Visa Guide: How I Got a 10-Year Multiple Entry Visa (No ITR and Less Than 6 Digits Bank Balance)

By vivomigsgee in Features Travel January 31, 2020

It’s been a rough start for the new decade, with all the bad news happening around the world in January alone such as natural disasters brought about by climate change , celebrity freak accidents and unprecedented virus outbreak. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better this month, an unexpected blessing came. I just got a 10-year Multiple Entry Tourist Visa in Japan even without submitting ITR and with a bank balance of less than the “suggested” six digits.

I’m a little bit jumpy as of writing as I’m feeling over the moon with my newly-approved multiple entry visa with validity of 10 years and for stay(s) of 90 days in Japan. That’s the maximum visa validity and period of stay that the Consul can grant an applicant for a Japan tourist visa. I may not be an expert in visa application but through this platform, I will share my personal experience, tips from successful applications shared in the social media groups and learning from research online to increase your chances of getting a single entry tourist visa or inspire you with my own success story in applying for a multiple entry visa in Japan with no ITR, on probationary status, and a “ show money ” of only Php 70,000 or less.

Just a quick backgrounder, I’m a newly-hired employee of a private company (5 months) and I’ve already been to South Korea , Shanghai , Taiwan , Hong Kong, Macau and Japan last November 2019 (with single entry visa). My heart has been captivated by Japan for all good reasons , prompting me to go back and explore 37 prefectures more. Just like the first time, I secured all the necessary requirements for my second tourist visa application, this time for a multiple entry one.

So, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get a 10-year multiple entry Japan Tourist Visa for applicants (first time or not) in Cebu (or anywhere in the Philippines).

sample cover letter for japan multiple entry visa

A. Gather ALL the requirements (Mandatory)

A stay of up to 90 days for tourism, business, visiting friends or relatives, etc. that does not include remunerative activities. Size of document for application is A4 size only. If a document is printed on other sizes, please submit copy that is already adjusted in A4 size from its original and without staples or pasting pages.

1.) Valid Philippine Passport

  • Passports must be signed and must have at least two (2) blank visa pages, with a validity of more than six (6) months from date of departure
  • Ensure to sign page 3 and add emergency contact at the last page of your passport
  • old passport (expired) not required, unless there is used Japan Visa (for multiple entry visa requirement)

2.) Visa Application Form

  • Visa Application Form to Enter Japan ( including sample ) is available at the Embassy website, at the entrance of the Embassy or at any of the accredited travel agencies.
  • Application form must be duly accomplished. If an item is not applicable, please fill in (N/A). Embassy may not accept application with blank item, no signature or no date in the application form; may deny the application that is filled out incorrectly or has wrong information. Corrections must be crossed out with a double line only.
  • Specs: 4.5cm x 4.5cm, with white background, taken within 6 months. Head to a professional photo studio for they already know the photo specs for Japan Visa.
  • Please write applicant’s name and birth date on back side of photo before sticking it on the application form

4.) Birth Certificate (Original)

  • This is only required for first-time applicants. Must be issued within one year from Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA (previously NSO). For convenience, request your Birth Certificate online ~ PSAserbilis ( free delivery 2 to 7 days after cashless payment via e-wallet services like GCash ).
  • If birth certificate is unreadable or has incomplete information, please also provide birth certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar. If birth certificate is “Late Registration”, please submit in addition, a Baptismal Certificate and School Record (Form 137) from high school or elementary and School Yearbook (if possible).

5.) Marriage Certificate (Original), if applicable

  • Applicable if applicant is married, must be issued within one (1) year from PSA. If there is no record in PSA, please submit a “Certificate of Non-Record” from PSA together with a marriage certificate from the Local Civil Registrar. You may also request it online via PSAserbilis .
  • If marriage certificate is unreadable or has incomplete information, please also provide marriage certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar.

6.) Daily Schedule in Japan ( Taizai Yoteihyo , Original)

Don’t make your daily itinerary too complicated. Your schedule of stay (containing your activities per day) matters as it affects how much budget you really need to prepare for your Japan trip. Get an editable file of “Embassy-format” itinerary in the website (or click here ).

Even if you planning to visit Japan for 10 days, it’s not wise to declare the exact 10 days in your Japan Visa application as you need to match it with your bank balance. Just state that your schedule of stay in Japan is 4 to 5 days maximum and intend to visit free attractions (no entrance fee) in various districts (e.g., Dotonbori, Namba, Umeda, etc.) in one area only, say Osaka, for easier calculation of your trip’s maximum spending. Besides, a plane ticket is not required so there’s no way the Embassy would know the exact days you’ll be staying in Japan. While creating a dummy itinerary, take into account that the less days of stay, less budget needed, more chances of getting your visa approved given you only have a not so high bank balance in actual. Unless of course money is not an issue.

7.) Applicant’s Latest Income Tax Return (Form 2316)

  • Photocopy is allowed as long as it is clear and copied in A4, must be signed by the taxpayer and authorized representative of the employer
  • Make sure that your income reflected in ITR is not too far off with your bank balance, say you have 1 million in your bank account but your annual income is only 100,000. This may raise a red flag to the Embassy.
  • If you don’t have an ITR (just like in my case), you can make an explanation letter why you don’t have one. More of this in the section below.

8.) Personal Bank Certificate (Original)

  • If applicant will shoulder part or all of his/her travel expenses, original Bank Certificate is required (validity of bank certificate is three (3) months from the date of issue)
  • Fields like Japanese Consul as addressee, opening Account Date and Average Daily Balance (ADB) are NOT required, content of bank certificate depends on the template of your respective bank, as long as the purpose is for Japan visa requirement
  • Should not be confused with Bank Statement requirement for South Korean Visa or Chinese Visa .
  • Payroll account and joint account are fine (as long name of applicant also appears in the bank certificate as account owner)
  • Must not be a freshly-baked account with one-time, big-time deposit just intended for visa application purposes.
  • LEGIT AND PROVEN TIP: If you don’t have enough bank balance and need to add more, just ask from your friends or relatives to fund transfer certain amount for this particular purpose and once you already have your printed bank certificate, you can return back the borrowed amount immediately. Besides, a bank statement (account transactions) is not required for Japan visa application so there’s no way they will know about this activity. Pursuant to Bank Secrecy Law, the Embassy cannot make an inquiry into, all deposits in banks, (e.g., validate if the amount in your bank certificate is exactly the current amount in your bank account as banks are prohibited to disclose such private details). They will just verify if you have indeed an existing and active savings or checking account with your respective bank to ascertain that you are financially capable to survive in Japan once you’re already in their country.

How much money is really needed for Japan Visa application?

This is probably one of the most frequently-asked questions when applying for a Japan tourist visa. I hate to break it up with you but nobody knows exactly how much is required in your bank account balance. For the minimum fund for bank certificate purposes, Japan embassy did not specify the range. But for some reason, Japan Embassy would like to know whether a certain traveler has the capacity to tour around Japan and has enough funds to cover the cost of his/her trip. According to my ample research, the safe amount is Php 10,000 per day but it is not always the case. Applying for a Japanese Tourist Visa having less than Php 10,000/day balance may be approved, as evidenced by legit testimonials from some of my friends who traveled Japan recently, to wit:

  • 6D5N Japan Trip with 40,000 bank balance
  • Stayed in Japan for 8 days, at least 50,000 balance in bank certificate
  • Applied for 15 days max – at least Php 70,000 available balance

Hopeful now? We all should be! It all boils down to creation of one simple itinerary (see details in number 6 above). As already noted, this is for purposes of tourist visa application only so you don’t have to follow such itinerary during your actual trip. In my case, a bank balance worth 70,000 is enough for 4-Day trip in Osaka.

If a Guarantor who lives in the Philippines will shoulder part of the applicant’s travel experiences, here are the requirements in lieu of 7 and 8 above:

  • Guarantee Letter (Embassy Form) (Signature/Seal), Original and addressed to Ambassador/Consul-General of Japan
  • Proof of relationship between applicant and guarantor (Original)
  • Guarantor’s Bank Certificate (Original) and ITR (Form 2316) (Clear Photocopy in A4)

B. Submit additional requirements (Optional)

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that he/she meet the requirements for the grant of a visa. Submission of supporting documents not listed above is also encouraged, as follows:

1.) Applicant’s economic or social ties with the Philippines

  • Certificate of Employment (with applicant’s salary, tenure and position) printed in the official letterhead of the company and signed by authorized signatory
  • Photocopy of Company ID (not required but demonstrates that you’re actually employed in addition to a COE, regardless of whether you’re full-time, regular or not)
  • If a freelancer, ask your clients to provide a COE (alternatively copies of PayPal transactions)
  • If a government employee, show proof that your leave(s) is(are) approved (may also be used for immigration purposes)
  • Certificate of Business Name Registration (for owners of a company, must be issued by Department of Trade and Industry or Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission)
  • Personal Property and Land Titles
  • Stock Certificate, Insurance Policies and other records

2.) Urgent reasons for visit

  • Medical certificate
  • Wedding invitation

3.) Not mandatory documents but you may want to secure or submit for whatever purpose it may serve

  • Cover Letter (or an explanation letter for NO ITR)
  • Plane Ticket (you don’t need to book Japan flights ahead)
  • Hotel Accommodation
  • Certified True Copy of Bank Statements for the last three months
  • Photocopy of valid visa/s and arrival stamps to other countries

C. Request for a Multiple Entry Visa Form

You may apply for a multiple entry visa even if you are a first-time applicant. Please note however that a single(or double)-entry visa may be issued depending on the result of the examination even if you have applied for multiple visa. This just means that you could still get a single entry visa for Japan even if you are denied for a multiple entry visa. So even if you are still a first time traveler in Japan, applying for multiple entry visa is a good thing to try since you may still get a single entry visa anyway.

Secure a digital copy of the Request for A Multiple-Entry Visa Form from the Japan embassy website. In the Multiple Entry request form, you will see four (4) categories but you’ll only check the type of visa and appropriate item(s) below that is(are) relevant to your profile, to with:

  • Multiple-entry visa for tourist (short-term stay)
  • A company employee who has been working full-time
  • Multiple entry temporary visitor’s visa for cultural or intellectual figures.
  • Spouse or child of the Japanese who lives in the Philippines with long term visa. (Excluding Tourist Visa)

sample cover letter for japan multiple entry visa

There are sub-categories under each type of Visa above. As for my profile, there are two items that are applicable, as follows:

  • A person who has travelled to Japan as temporary visitor within the last three years and has financial capability to support his/her trip (category 1)
  • A lawyer, certified public accountant, patent attorney, judicial scrivener, notary, medical doctor who has a national or international qualification and actually working as the same position (category 3)

The visa is for the purpose of business affairs for the first visit, but from the second visit it is possible to use as tourist or visiting to relatives or acquaintances as well. But it is not permitted to perform activities to undertake revenue generating business operations or activities to receive remuneration.

You have to submit documents to prove that you are qualified for multiple visa. In my case, I submitted a clear photocopy of my valid PRC ID as a Certified Public Accountant. I also provided a photocopy of my previous Japan tourist visa but the agent told me that it’s no longer necessary as the used temporary visitor visa and landing permission stamps are already in my recent passport (unless it is stamped in your old passport).

Lastly, fill in the reason why you need a multiple-entry visa in the box located at the last but the most important portion of the multiply entry visa request form. You may state personal reasons like how you really love to visit Japan, experience four seasons, spend your birthday, honeymoon or any special occasion, or any other valid reasons that you can come up with. And oh, don’t forget to write down the date, your name and signature at the bottom of the multiple entry request form. Printed or hand-written is fine.

If you want to secure a copy of the actual multiple entry request form I submitted, just comment your email address below so that I can provide it to you for reference.

D. Apply Through an Accredited Travel Agency

All visa applications (except some special cases) must be coursed through travel agencies accredited by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. Unlike the e-Visa application of South Korea where digital submission of requirements can be done , Japan Tourist Visa can only be processed manually or in person. To date, there are only five accredited agencies with branches in Cebu to wit:

  • Universal Holidays, Inc. (Mahogany Place, Mabolo)
  • Attic Tours Phils., Inc. (SM Cebu City and Cebu Waterfront Airport Hotel)
  • Friendship Tours and Resorts Corporation (Oakridge Business Park, A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue)
  • Discovery Tour, Inc. (Northgate Center, Banilad)
  • Pan Pacific Travel Corporation (Diplomat Hotel, Ramos St.)

Temporary visitor visa for Philippine Nationals is gratis or FREE. Since accredited agencies are private enterprises, a handling fee is necessary for processing the application. Please inquire directly at the accredited agencies for the rates/ handling fee on visa application.

For visa application filed through accredited agencies, at least (1) week [five (5) working days] from the date of acceptance by the Embassy is necessary to be processed and released of passports to the accredited agencies. If however, the passport has not been returned after more than a week, the applicant who need to verify the status of the application may inquiry to the Embassy confirming the 8-digit acceptance number from your chosen agency.

I first submitted my application to Discovery Tour, Inc, and paid Php 500 only for the handling fee (scored a promo during International Travel Festival 2019 last July at Ayala Center Cebu ). However, I do not recommend this agency as you have to wait for 14 to 15 working days before you’ll know the results, which for me is too dragging and inconvenient (given the anxiety of waiting for the unknown). Timeline as follows: submitted docs October 21, 2019, lodged to the embassy on October 23, 2019, approved on October 24, 2019 and claimed my passport on November 04, 2019. If the processing time matters to you, I highly recommend Universal Holidays, Inc. (UHI).

UHI is the best agency for Japan Tourist Visa application. UHI has a good reputation of having a high rating of approved visa applications because they know what they are doing and they’re on top of everything to make sure your documents are complete and valid. Plus, the processing time is faster, maximum of one week from submission to passport claiming. I only paid Php 1,000 for the handling fee but could be cheaper if you can avail of its promo during travel fairs near you. Timeline of multiple entry visa application as follows:

  • January 23, 2020 – Docs submission to UHI Cebu
  • January 24, 2020 – Forwarded docs to UHI main branch (Makati)
  • January 27, 2020 – Application lodged to Embassy
  • January 28, 2020 – Granted a 10-Year Multiple Entry Visa
  • January 31, 2020 – Claimed my passport with a big smile on my face =)

Multiple Entry Visa Application (without ITR )

For my second visa application, I submitted the same documents just like my first application, minus the birth certificate and ITR . I actually have the ITR 2018 with me but the UHI agent suggested not to include it as the company indicated in the ITR is not the same with my current employer. I was connected with Company A for 3 years that ended mid-August 2019 and transferred to Company B before end of August same year. With inconsistent information in my ITR (Company A) and COE (Company B), I was told to draft a letter to explain why I cannot provide ITR. I was actually hesitant to follow her instruction at first but I was left with no choice. Thank God, I trusted her advice.

Please note that only the Consul can decide on visa validity of the multiple entry such as 1, 3, 5 or 10 years and period of stay of 15, 30 or 90 days. So just hope for the best that you’ll be granted the maximum number of visa validity and period of stay ~ 10 years multiple entry for stay(s) of 90 days !

If you want to get hold of the actual letter I submitted, please comment down your email address for reference.

sample cover letter for japan multiple entry visa

Please note that submission of complete requirements doesn’t guarantee getting a Tourist Visa. Approval of a 10-Year Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is a case to case basis. You may even be granted a 10-Year Multiple entry visa even without applying for it. You may even be granted a Single Entry visa only even if you specifically requested for a multiple entry visa ( better than being denied ). Or worst, you may end up putting incorrect or inconsistent details in your application form or having insufficient bank balance or any other reasons which the Embassy sees fit to deny your visa application.

The discretion of whether or not to approve your visa application does not rest in travel agencies as they only serve as middlemen for facilitating your requirements and submission to the Embassy. Prayer is still needed. =)

If you have more questions, please do drop an inquiry on the comment section and I will try to answer them based on my personal experience and insights from Filipino travelers in Japan (via FB travel groups). SAMPLE COVER LETTERS for VISA APPLICATION: Korea, Schengen, Australia

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

Employment certificate, financial documents, and income tax return (ITR) are the staples of most visa applications. But there is one document that is usually overlooked — the cover letter.

A cover letter isn’t always a requirement when applying for a visa. However, it’s something that we often recommend to add to your pile of documents, especially if there is no interview and you have some explaining to do.

You see, sometimes, things don’t always fit the mold perfectly. There are cases wherein you can’t provide the exact document needed, but you have a very good alternative. Or maybe you just can’t provide something at all, but you have a perfectly valid reason. Or perhaps you’re traveling with a group or for a special purpose. These instances could probably benefit from a well-crafted explanation to give the visa officer a clearer picture of your situation.

When I apply for a visa, I usually submit a cover letter regardless of whether or not it’s one of the requirements. I always want to give a summary of my application and clarify some aspects that may be prone to misinterpretation.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

What should be in a cover letter?

For me, a good cover letter must be able to provide the following:

  • A short introduction about yourself.
  • Your travel dates and the purpose of your trip
  • If traveling with a group: your companions and your relationship with them
  • If sponsored: your sponsor’s name, your relationship with them, and the reason why they are willing to sponsor you
  • If you’re missing some requirements: the reason why you won’t be able to provide them and the alternatives you are submitting instead
  • If applying for a double entry or multiple entry visa: the reason why you need to be allowed more than one entry
  • A quick rundown of the destinations you will be visiting
  • A quick summary of your travel history (if any), highlighting that you have NEVER violated visa rules in the past
  • A promise to return to your home country in time

Looks like a lot, huh? But here’s the thing: According to a couple of friends who used to work as visa officers at strict embassies, they usually had very little time to assess each application. Hence, if you’re going to make a cover letter, go straight to the point . One page should be enough. The key is being concise — finding the balance between giving enough information and keeping it short and sweet.

Here are some samples. I intentionally used complicated situations to give you an idea how I usually explain them. If they don’t apply to you, feel free to modify these to match your case. Please use this only as a model for your own cover letter. Please do not copy-paste the whole thing without adjustments.

where to attach cover letter for Australia Visa application?

In my case, I uploaded it under Evidence of Planned Tourism Activities > Others.

Hello, I will be applying for a Japan visa and will submit a cover letter din. I have a few questions:

  • If I am traveling with friends pero we will be submitting individual applications, do I need to include that in the cover letter na I am with them on this trip?
  • Do you need to submit all your savings account o kahit isa nalang?
Do I need to do that?

Thank you sa travel guides. Super helpful. :)

This is for Japan ha.

1. You may indicate your companions. Ako I prefer na imention sila to show na travel with friends talaga.

2. OK lang kahit isa lang kung sa tingin mo strong enough ung account na yun. Pwede ring madami if feeling mo di enough ung isa lang.

3. Naeempty ba ung payroll account when u transfer?

4. Bank cert lang naman ang need ng Japan so kahit walang statement, ok lang.

5. If hindi ka magsusubmit ng statement, di na need iexplain kasi hindi lalabas. :)

I plan to visit Canada and have started my visa application. I selected visit friend for purpose instead of tourism as I would like to be fully honest with my application. My very purpose is to be with my boyfriend and meet his family and friends. Touring comes as a bonus. Would it be fine to add captions or narrations on the pdf document together with our pictures as proof? I also have our hotel and tour bookings and his boarding passes on the two times that he has visited me here in PH. This is the Proof of Relationship section on the application visa.

Hello. Any recommendations for Schengen visa assistance agencies?

Try Gazelle Travel and Tours around Ortigas or Constellation Travel in Makati.

How to Apply for a Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR and Get Approved for a Multiple Entry Visa (2018 Guide)

Japan is truly one of the best destinations and countries that a Filipino can dream of traveling to. It is where the animes originated and one of our biggest dreams is to those places that we only see in the anime scenes or even the movies. Some of us are fans of the Japanese soap operas, and some would just like to experience how is Japan different from any other Asian countries. With all the news and good things that we hear about this one beautiful country, who would not dream of stepping into the land of the rising sun ?

As a Filipino, we cannot just enter Japan without securing a visa as if it were a part of the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations). I know it’s a hassle but Japan is part of G7 countries , and when you have a visa to at least one of these countries, you have a higher chance of getting a visa to another.

How to Apply for a Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR and Get Approved for a Multiple Entry Visa

I have personally stepped into Japan a few years back and created a guide for it (you can check this link) but that was the normal process because I was still in the corporate setup, a.k.a., I still have a corporate job/employer.

But this guide is for those who are self-employed or freelancers (like me) who cannot present a tax document yet but is earning enough to travel places and go far. This also applies to those who cannot present a Certificate of Employment and or are students.

Let’s start with the basic and important requirements first for Japan visa application.

1. valid  philippine passport  (with at least 2 blank pages and expiration is not less than 6 months).

Your passport is your number one requirement. If you do not have a passport yet, please apply for one. It only takes a few days for a rush passport or a few weeks for a regular passport. Go to the nearest DFA office in your area.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

If you do have a passport already, make sure you have at least 2 blank pages remaining and is not coming near expiration. You won’t be permitted to travel if your passport is less than 6 months before expiration, even if your travel will just be for a few days.

2. Bank Certificate (from a local or international bank)

The embassy will also need to look if you are financially capable to travel to Japan. They don’t want you to become a beggar in their country and be a hindrance to their economy. Hence, the larger the amount you have, the higher the chance you will get approved. No worries though, even those with only 20,000 to 30,000 Php are getting approved. The money that should be in your account depends on the length of your stay. The safe bet is that you have at least 5,000 Php to 10,000 Php to spend per day.

3. PSA Birth Certificate (issued within One year)

NOTE: If you previously have been approved for a single entry Japan visa, you won’t need to present this. This document is only for the first time applicants.

Your Birth Certificate should be issued within a year before your intended application for Japan visa. Go to the nearest Serbilis Center in your area. You’d be able to get your birth certificate in 30 mins to 2 hours depending on the volume of requesters. A friend of mine got hers in about 40 mins. She said she requested at Pureza branch.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

If you don’t have the time, you can also request for it online and pay for a little fee. It will be delivered straight to your home.

4. Photo sized for Japan visa

Just tell the studio/photographer that it needs to be on white background and is sized for Japan visa. They should know this. If your photo is not aligned with the photo border in the form, you will be required by them to send a new photo. The picture must also be within 3 months of capture.

5. Japan Visa Application form

The form is usually available on your agency’s website. We did that. However, they told us they are using a new one so we filled out details right there and then. So if you have time to visit your visa agency, ask for a copy of the form.  There will be guidelines on how to fill it out and please be careful of your erasures.

6. Marriage Contract Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

Only if you are already married. Otherwise, not applicable and is not required.

How to Apply for a Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR and Get Approved for a Multiple Entry Visa

7. Daily Schedule in Japan

The form is also available on your agency’s website. Download the form and fill it out. Look below for a sample of itinerary or daily schedule in Japan and how to fill it out. Here’s what we actually submitted for our application.

NOTE: This is not our actual itinerary. We had itinerary changes when we were in Japan but this is what we submitted. Make sure you include your entry point and exit point (arrival and departure).

8. Multiple Entry Visa Request Letter and Request Form

The request form can also be acquired at your agency’s website or ask them for it personally. You will be filling out a few details and the reason why you are requesting for a multiple entry visa.

The request letter is different. It is a more personalized letter that you are sending together with your other documents. Here’s my actual multiple entry visa request letter.

NOTE:  If you will be using this template, please change those in red with your actual details and change the font color to black. (Letter of Explanation for Japan Multiple Entry Visa Application with no ITR or CoE) Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

NOTE: Feel free to emit or add anything else on your own explanation letter. Please do not just copy and paste this template. Make sure you at least personalize your letter as it will reflect on your application.

9. Explanation Letter

If you are like me who cannot present an ITR or CoE, then you probably need to read this and not skip a sentence.

So our scenario is:  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

1. I am a freelancer/travel blogger and I have enough funds to sustain an 8-day trip to Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka. However, I cannot present a CoE or ITR because simply I work for myself. We will also be celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday within the dates we are in Japan plus I have a plan to propose marriage to her.

2. My partner, Jane, is a student, thus, not having any ITRs or CoE (except for Certificate of Enrollment) but has enough travel funds to sustain an 8 days trip to Japan. She will be the one celebrating her birthday in the country.

Here’s the letter I presented to the agency together with my other requirements.

NOTE: When you are traveling with another person, make your letters consistent in thought.

NOTE:  If you will be using this template, please change those in red with your actual details and change the font color to black. (Letter of Explanation for Japan Visa Application with no ITR or CoE)

Here is Jane’s ITR letter submitted together with the other documents (first-time application). Remember, she’s a student.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

NOTE:  If you will be using this template, please change those in red with your actual details and change the font color to black.

Optional documents you can present to support your visa application

These documents are not required by the agency or the embassy. This may or may not help with your visa application but you are free to submit such documents to back your application for a Japan visa.

a.  Valid IDs  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

Print or submit a photocopy of your IDs if possible (Company, School, UMID, PhilHealth, etc) .

b.  Airline Tickets

If you are one like us (who book tickets even without the assurance of getting a granted visa), then congrats on spending your money on that ticket! LOL! It will help you with your application a little but it’s not a guaranteed success.

c.  Hotel / Hostel Bookings

The embassy wants to make sure that you have a place to stay in their country. So if you have booked accommodations in advance, print the confirmation form and submit it. Some hotels offer a pay at hotel option or free cancellation within an allotted time so this is completely safe.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

Check out and book your hotels here via AGODA | BOOKING and pay directly or use the Pay at Hotel option.

After submission of documents

Once you have submitted all the required documents, pay the visa processing fee. We have applied at ReliTours MOA branch and paid 950 Php each. There are cheaper options but this agency is where I submitted my application before.

They will tell you to wait until you get a text from them, so make sure that your phone number is the most recent one and is active.

We submitted our application on a Thursday evening. The waiting game was totally killing me because our flight is Saturday that same week. LOL! Come Wednesday and we still did not receive any text messages so I decided to call them on Thursday morning. They told me they still don’t have our passports and call again in the evening at 6:00 pm.

After a few hours, around 11:00 am, we received a text message that our passports are ready for claiming and we will only know the result when we got there in the agency.

We picked up our passports at around 4:00 pm and we both got approved! To know if you are approved or not, a “red sticker (or red mark)” in the back of your passport indicates “denied”, and a “white sticker” indicates an approved visa.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

We got our visa and passort in 5 working days.

Luckily, my multiple entry visa request was GRANTED! I was granted a 5-year multiple entry visa for 30 days each. Whilst Jane got a 15 days single entry visa primarily because it was her first time applying for one.

If you also would like to know how the proposal goes, she said YES! We’re engaged!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:   do we need an agency or we should apply personally.

A. I have not encountered anyone yet who applied personally at the embassy. It’s more preferred to have your agency do all the work after you have surrendered your requirements to them. In our case, we inquired at  Reli Tours  and had them process it.

Q:   Where is the agency located?

A:    We inquired at their SM Mall of Asia branch. They also have other branches located at Dusit Thani in Makati, SM Southmall in Las Piñas and SM Megamall at Shaw Blvd. More information can be found on their website.

Q:   Is there a fee? How much?

A:    Yes, there is. By the time we inquired, handling fee was  PHP 950  for a Japan visa. I don’t think it will change anytime soon. The price is only for a Tourist Visa with No Guarantor.

Q:   Is there a tour provided by them? Did you avail it or you did a DIY Itinerary?

A:    Yes, they provide tours and tickets at a certain price but we did not avail of the tours. We made ourselves our own itinerary.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

Q:   Can we also submit tickets and hotel bookings?

A:    Yes, you may submit those documents. As I have mentioned on the checklist, they will help but does not guarantee approval.  Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR

Q:   If I couldn’t have that amount before the application, any other options we can have?

A:    If one or two of you have no enough money to support himself, borrow from a friend and secure a Bank Certificate after a day.

Q:   When should we apply for a visa?

A:    Please apply for a visa at least 3 months before your departure date. Don’t rush yourself, apply as early as possible to avoid hassles and unexpected constraints.

Q:   Will there be a personal interview Japan Tourist Visa Without ITR ?

A:    No, there is no interview for JP Visa application.

Q:   Do we need to secure ourselves check-in baggage allowance?

A:    It depends on how long you are staying. You can bring a backpack if you’re only gonna stay for a few days. Make sure all your clothes and other belongings fit in on your bag and must not exceed 7kgs (depending on your airline), else, please buy baggage allowance especially if you are going to Japan during winter. Jackets are bulky and will surely cost a significant amount of weight.

Q: Do you have a sample itinerary?

A. Yes, you may check this  link for our itinerary .

Do you have any questions? Feel free to contact us!

How I Got My Japan Multiple Entry Visa in One Shot in the Philippines

This post is about how I got my Japan Multiple Entry Visa in one shot. It was my very first time applying for a Japan tourist visa. I did not apply for multiple entry, but luckily, I got one.

I thought I share here how I got it and what I did. Our Multiple Entry Visa is valid for five years, and it allows us to travel to Japan in 30 days for five years.

The best thing about this post is I’m going to share two experiences: one for self-employed (mine) and another one for employed applicant (my sister) who got our multiple entry visas in one shot for the first time.

Two weeks ago, I found very cheap flights to Tokyo using airlinepromo.net. Yes, I am always using that site when I search for the cheapest airfare. Now, you should too. My sister and I booked roundtrip flights right away even though we did not have our tourist visa yet.

Just imagine the nervousness and excitement of booking in advance without an approved visa. We were confident anyway because we gathered our complete documents (see the list and tips below) before lodging our application.

Table of Contents:

How I Got My Japan Multiple Entry Visa ?

The first thing I did was gather the documents required before our application. I prepared the following documents (listed below) and submitted them to the agency. The cover letter was not needed, but I made sure I submitted one. I also made one for my sister, and she got a multiple entry visa, too.

Our cover letters had different content, though, but I mentioned why we really love to visit Japan and what makes it so special.

japan multiple entry tourist visa requirements philippines

Japan Multiple Entry Tourist Visa Requirements in the Philippines:

For self-employed applicants:.

  • Japan Tourist Visa Application Form (I got one from the agency)
  • 2×2 photo (4.5 cm x 4.5 cm) – paste this on the application form
  • Original PSA Birth Certificate (released same year)
  • Original Passport
  • Original Bank Certificate
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)
  • Daily Schedule in Japan
  • Cover Letter (optional)
  • Mayor’s Permit

For employed applicants:

  • Original PSA Birth Certificate (released the same year of application)
  • Income Tax Return (ITR) – BIR Form 2316
  • Certificate of Employment

Japan Multiple Entry Tourist Visa Application Procedures in the Philippines

1. submit your complete documents.

The first tip I can share is to make sure you submit the complete documents required for your visa application, whether you are employed or not. Your documents must be consistent with the personal information you have provided on the application form.

2. Prepare a Simple Daily Schedule of Stay in Japan

Follow the specific requirements and format, including the Daily Schedule in Japan. The Daily Schedule in Japan is a tough job to make because you will need hotel reservations.

No worries, you can make hotel reservations even without paying in advance, and you can list your accommodation on your Daily Schedule. Booking.com allows hotel reservations without payment.

3. Submit a Cover Letter

Also, make a cover letter indicating your keen reasons why you love to travel to Japan. Japanese are very much appreciative. Make a heartfelt letter about the reasons why you love to visit their country.

I think it was one of the reasons why we got Multiple Entry Visa. I shared a cover letter sample for Japan tourist visa application on this page: “ Japan Tourist Visa Cover Letter. “

Note that the letter is only an example. You still need to create your own letter that matches your itinerary and journey to Japan.

4. Prove Your Financial Capacity

Some people say that the money on your bank certificate matters when applying for a tourist visa. In my opinion, you can get approved even if your bank account is not 7-digit as long as you can afford the expenses on your travel .

My sister got her 5-year Multiple Entry Visa, and she had around 150,000 on her bank certificate. If you are traveling to Japan for five days, for example, around 80,000 on your account would do. I think they will issue you a visa as long as you have a decent job, a decent bank account, and strong reasons you will be returning to your home country.

You must prove your financial capacity to afford your whole travel to Japan. It’s another thing when you have a sponsor who will shoulder your travel expense. In that case, you would need to submit some supporting documents on your visa application.

Hi just wanted to ask. Do you consider me as “high financial individual” I will submit soon my application. Qatar bank – 52,000 riyals (roughly 730k pesos) Philippine bank- 200,000 php Citibank credit card- 1,000,000 php credit card limit.

I have japan visas: Visa (1)- single entry used last April 2017 Visa(2)- single entry again, but wasn’t able to use. After the expiry of the second visa, I tried to apply again the third time the same year, after one week still no result. I need to submit a letter of release for my passport because I had to process my work here in Qatar.

I am planning to apply my visa in Manila. November 14,2019. Then my flight to japan would be on Dec 30, 2019

Any advice please

how can i apply tourist visa to visit my japanese children i have no contact yet for almost 17 yrs? Im 55 yrs old. thx

Hi.. I was reading on the official Japanese website regarding the multiple entry qualification…

Para ma approved, need na naka visit sa Japan in the last 3 years and ung isa is may stamp sa G7 countries in last 3 years..

Ask ko lang if may G7 stamp me pero wala ng Japan, would they give multiple entry kaya?

Hello, my case is the same as your one. I just want to know if you got approved? I took the risk of filling out the multiple visa form because the travel agent offered it. I’m still waiting for my passport to be sent back to me sometime next week. I think being granted the multiple visa will be a bonus for me. Thanks! ????

hi ask lang if san agency po kayo nag apply for visa and how much? and for your whole tour how much po estimated budget nyo? thanks in advance ????

Hi ! Regarding the late registration for nso, i can only provide baptismal cert but not the form 137 or school yrbook, is that ok? i mean on ur own perspective. Coz hopefully we’ll be travelling by the 2nd week of Dec

Good day, It is interesting read though for first time travellers like us.

How to Apply For Five Year Multiple Entry Japan Tourist Visa for Filipinos

I always wanted to go to Japan and initially planned it as the last country I’ll visit. However, since I went home to the Philippines last January 2020, I decided to make this a side-trip to add a new country to my list. I applied to the Japan Embassy in Belgrade, Serbia where I got my Five Year Multiple Entry Japan Tourist Visa for free within an hour.

If you want to apply for it in the Philippines, you can read this article.

Japan Visa

Japan is a gorgeous country, and I visited Tokyo and Osaka just this year. Filipinos can also get a Japan Tourist Visa in the Philippines. It’s free; however, you may need to pay an accredited travel agency as you can’t apply directly to the Embassy. Check out how you can get a Japan Visa!

Tips on How to Get a Five Year Multiple Entry Japan Visa

  • The embassy does not state how much money you should have to obtain a five-year multiple-entry Japan visa. However, you need to show that you are financially capable of traveling to Japan in the next five years. Most agencies would advise a PHP 10,000 per person per day budget, so if you travel for ten days, you’ll need at least PHP 100,000. In case you want to travel once every year, it should be more than that, and you should be earning money or income, too.
  • I submitted a Bank Statement under my name for proof that I’m financially capable of traveling for the next 5 years. I showed both my Peso savings in the Philippines and my Montenegrin Bank Account . Might as well, show them your savings – be it personal, checking, or time deposit.
  • A Certificate of Employment is not required; however, it can be of great use. This will show how many years you’ve been in the company, your position, and your annual salary. From there, they can check if you can afford to travel in the next five years.
  • If you have a business, it’s better to register it with DTI or SEC and pay income taxes regularly. You can also attach this to your application even though it’s not required.
  • You can also submit Titles of your Properties. I showed my Original Real Estate Purchase Contract with the value of our property, and the title is under my name (and my husband’s).
  • I also submitted a flight ticket reservation and hotel reservation for my initial stay. You can do this too.
  • If you have been too G7 countries, you can also submit your stamps and old passports even if it’s not required under your category
  • Try submitting a cover letter explaining why you want the five-year visa. Also, mention the requirements attached and arrange them neatly during your submission.
  • P.S. If the Embassy doesn’t think you can go for a five-year multiple-entry Japan visa, you may get one to four or a single entry visa
