With the changes that are needed to be faced by our country in terms of educational curriculum, the researchers have made a move to pursue this study. In our study, we concluded four (4) major factors which was the basis of this study, Parental Influence, Aptitude, Interests and Environmental Factors. This study aims to find out the significant differences between the career choice factors and the gender of our respondents. The research was conducted at the University of the Immaculate Conception and its respondents were selected Grade 10 students, ranging from 20-23 per section. It was performed using the descriptive survey method, thus, the researchers formulated a questionnaire based on the four (4) different indicators, with six (6) statements each. The questionnaires were distributed in 8 sections, with 172 respondents all in all which was verified through the Slovin’s formula. The researchers then encoded the data to be able to get the mean scores, as well as, the p-value or the significant difference. It was then formulated by the SPSS, and obtained a p-value of 0.144. Therefore, it was implied that there was a significant difference between the career choices of grade 10 students with their gender. The proponents’ decision was to accept the alternative hypothesis and reject the null hypothesis. There are diverse and several factors which can also affect the career choice of an individual. For the improvement of further studies, the researchers highly recommend that there should be other factors that will be looked upon since career choice is essential in one’s future way of life.

The aim of the study is to examine the career choices of 4 th grade students from gender perspective. The research was designed as a mixed method in which qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used together. 417 primary school students participated in the study in which “Attitude Towards Gender-Based Career Choices Scale” was used. 77 students were drawn a picture on which career they wanted to do in the future, and then they were asked to explain why they preferred. In the data analysis process, descriptive statistics (arithmetic mean and standard deviation) and t-test were used. For qualitative data, document analysis was used. According to the results of the research, it was found that the attitudes of 4 th grade students towards women's choices of career did not differ according to gender. It was determined that most girls preferred to be a doctor and teacher and the majority of the boys preferred to be a football player and they preferred to be a doctor in the second place. At the end of the study, make suggestions for teachers, administrators and families to ensure gender equality.

The popularity among the majority of students and parents of such academic track strands as Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (HESS), Liberal Arts (LA), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Business, Accountancy and Management (BAM) indicates the status quo in the choice of career or future employment in Region XI. This traditional frame of mind adheres to the idea that white collar jobs are still the most wanted designations future graduates look forward to. Hence, for each of the strands mentioned, Nursing or BEED, Communications, Civil Engineering and Accountancy, respectively, top the preferred courses (i.e. cited by majority of prospective Senior High School students). On the other hand, Physical Therapy, Theology, Math or Geodetic Engineering and Entrepreneurship figure as the top choices from among the less popular courses (i.e. cited by few students and parents). In the choice of career, students are likely to consider their own personality as gauge of the academic program they would go into in Senior High School (SHS); thus, it has become the most dominant factor in the pursuit of higher studies. This influence is followed closely by parents, which also play critical role in directing their children as regards the career choice. It is interesting to know that students and parents preferred public urban type of institutions for SHS. This finding implies that stakeholders, specifically students and parents of Region XI trust the capability of state colleges and universities or national high schools as provider of quality basic education (Grades 11 and 12).

Selecting a career track is crucial and must be thought of carefully because of its long-term impact on an individual’s future career. With the implementation of the K to 12 program in the Philippines, students need to choose from four career tracks before entering senior high school (SHS). Knowing the factors that may influence students’ career track choices can be helpful in the development of strategies that may help them make intelligent decisions. In this study, data from 3,813 Grade 11 students were analyzed to determine the variables associated with career track choice and the extent of influence of factors using descriptive, correlation, and correspondence analyses. Results showed that the intended course in college is strongly associated with SHS track/strand choice. Personal preference and parent’s influence are shown to be important factors. Socio-demographic variables such as sex, age, birth order, number of siblings, and monthly family income have a moderate association...

Choosing a senior high school career or tracks to pursue is one of the most challenging decisions any junior high school student may undertake. As a response, the objectives of this research were to investigate junior high school student's career preferences for senior high school studies, as well as the determinants that may influence their career selection. Using a stratified random sample technique, a total of one hundred sixty-six students were chosen at random. To quantify the influence of the indicated career selection determinants on students' career preferences, the researchers used a descriptive and predictive correlational research design. The required data was gathered using a standardized survey questionnaire. Personality, parents, job opportunities, and interest were found to be statistically significant in influencing and predicting students' career preferences, out of the five career selection determinants. In the model, only the peer component (LRT p-value = 0.110) was shown to be statistically insignificant. Among the career selection determinants, the variable interest was found to have the strongest influence on students' course preferences. It can be inferred that diverse career selection factors have statistically significant effects on students' senior high school career choices. Since students' preparation in senior high school is crucial to their subsequent studies in tertiary education, or employment after senior high school, the study gives vital inputs for students, parents, and school officials on how to lead and develop their career plans. A similar study may well be conducted using additional course selection characteristics discussed in the study, or this study could be conducted in a different location to corroborate or refute the findings.
