The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks: - Process monthly applications and re-visits into the permit database for submission to DOHMH. - Ensure recertification form is completed and current supporting medical documents are submitted. - Responsible for printing and mailing denied certification and notices to clients. - Process appeals for denied applications and process re-current applications. - Create folders for all new application documentation for permit database system. - Contact permit holders for missing documents and perform telephone inquiries, when required. - Maintain a daily log of seals/permits reconciliation and laminating prior to mailing. - Perform case folder reviews (supervisory checks) to ensure accuracy of all application documentation. - Process documentation and prepare approval and denial folders after determinations have been rendered by DOHMH, for documents to be stored in the file room. 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above; 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. The selectee will work carrying out stewardship and oversight of Tennessee’s Federal discretionary grant programs and the Local Public Agency (LPA) program. The incumbent will provide outreach, training, and technical assistance to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Tennessee’s Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), LPAs, tribes, and other stakeholders in understanding grant opportunities and guide the identification and development of activities supporting effective and compliant delivery of Federal-aid Highway Projects by local agencies. The selectee will work with a multidisciplinary team across FHWA’s Tennessee Division to provide technical assistance and support in resolving program and project-specific issues.

As a Discretionary Grants and Local Public Agency Program Coordinator , you will:

  • Provide expertise and assist in policy formulation, problem solving, development, promotion, and demonstration of state-of-the-art practices on a wide range of Transportation programs.
  • Conduct and participate in complex program reviews to evaluate and determine the extent of efficiency, effectiveness, and economy with which Transportation programs and administrative operations are carried out in conjunction with the agency’s mission and policies.
  • Develop plans, goals, and oversees the implementation of systems and procedural changes.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all Congressional, Headquarters, and other miscellaneous requests for information. Coordinate with appropriate staff to draft responses, reviews, finalizes and distributes correspondence.
  • Develop a wide range of methodologies to collect multitude of complex data/information. Track process improvements through critical metrics and adjusts processes as necessary to gain additional process improvements.
  • Provide expertise, training, and presentations to stakeholders in developing plans, goals, objectives for implementing deliverables for assigned Transportation programs.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable professional with experience implementing Federal-aid Highway Program and discretionary grant-related laws, regulations, and policy with effective communication skills to represent FHWA to state and local transportation agencies.
