Writing on the topic will keep your child engaged and also expand their imagination. Hand them a pen and paper, and if possible, write with them and share each other’s ideas about your dream house. For the kids who need a kickstart, here are some tips they can remember before they pen down an impressive essay on ‘My Dream House’.

There are some important points your child needs to remember while writing an essay on their dream house. Here’s a step-by-step guide you can use to help your child describe their dream house:

  • In the first step, let your child’s imagination take over and ideate on what they want to write on the topic.
  • Let them then pen down the ideas on paper. This will form an outline, and it will help them cover all the points while writing the paragraph.
  • In the next step, guide your child to form easy-to-read short and simple sentences from the outline.
  • Motivate your child to elaborate on each idea instead of describing one particular idea.
  • Help your child to write with the flow. This will help them enjoy writing the essay.
  • Your child can mention how they want their dream house to be, the importance of a home, how the family bonds in the house, etc.

One’s dream house plays an important role in their life. These lines will help your child to write a simple 10-line essay on ‘My Dream House’ for class 1 and class 2.

  • My dream house is big.
  • There will be open space in the front and at the back.
  • It will have a big lawn and a backyard.
  • There will be a garden full of flowers in the front.
  • Organic vegetables will grow in the backyard.
  • The house will have big rooms.
  • The windows will be very big.
  • There will be lots of sunshine and air.
  • There will be a small pool.
  • The whole family will enjoy living in the house.

This short paragraph on the topic would help your little one elaborate on their ideas and write the essay with a flow:

My dream house will be a white coloured house with peach borders. It will have a lot of open space all around it. There will be plenty of plants in and around the house. The lawn in front of the house will have bright blooming flowers, like roses, sunflowers, jasmines, dahlias, lilies, and lavender. The house will also have a fence and tall trees all along the fence. I wish to have neem trees, mango trees, dates, Gulmohar trees, cotton trees, masquerade trees, and coconut trees. My dream house will be surrounded by greenery. I will live in the house with my parents, grandparents, brother, and my cutest little furry friend, Lucky.

And, how can we forget a long paragraph? Here’s an example your child can use when writing their own essay:

My dream house is a beautiful white house with peach borders. There’s a lot of open space around the house. It will have a lawn and garden in the front. There will be a big backyard, too. The garden will be filled with bright, fragrant flowers, especially clusters of pink, white, yellow, peach, and red roses. There will be sunflowers, lilies, marigolds, dahlias, jasmines, and many other flowers. I will also grow healthy and nutritious organic vegetables and fruits in the backyard. We can have those fruits and veggies every day.

There will also be a tiny pool behind the house. We will have lots of fun in the pool throughout the summer. Tall trees will stand along the whole length of the fence. There will be mango trees, neem trees, Gulmohar, dates, cotton trees, coconut trees, and masquerade trees. It will be nice to see the sun setting behind the trees. In the mornings, I will wake up to the chirping of the birds nesting in those trees. The house will also have big balconies with plenty of plants in brightly painted ceramic pots.

I will live in the house with my parents, grandparents, brother, and my sweetest little furry friend, Lucky. We will spend a lot of time bonding with each other in this house. The house will have big rooms with lots of sunshine and air. The walls will have beautiful paintings. Some of my drawings will also be framed and put on the walls. I will decorate the house with strings of lights that will sparkle and shine. There will be colourful curtains that will sway with the cool breeze. There will be small cosy mattresses in each room for Lucky. She can enjoy being in any room she wants.

The house will also have a bathtub where I will play with squeeze toys, splashing water. There will be a pinboard next to my study table where I will put up positive thoughts. We will also have a small library that will stock many books. On the lawn, we will play throw and fetch balls. Lucky enjoys it when she fetches the ball for us. We will also play badminton. I love to play these two games. There will be a tea table under an umbrella with a few chairs on the lawn. We will have a nice time sipping juice while the elders take tea or coffee. At night, we will lie down and count stars in the sky. The whole family will have the best time in this house!

For your child, writing this essay will help them expand their imagination and enhance their vocabulary and creative skills. Your little one will also enjoy the creative freedom they get while penning down their thoughts, no matter how offbeat they are.

My dream house should be a house that I can share with my family when I grow old. I always dream of a wooden house in the hilly areas. My dream house should be the one facing a small river. Through the windows, I could see the sun setting and disappearing into the mountains. My dream house would have a small garden where I will grow my own vegetables and fruits.

The house that I fancy would be considerably big with four rooms and a spacious common area. My dream house should be comfortable for my parents, grandparents and siblings. The house should be equipped with all the modern amenities. It should have a big TV with a home theatre system and a Playstation attached to it. The walls of the house will have light colours that will make it appear bright. There will be sufficient light bulbs and lamps in every room. I also dream of a chandelier in the guest room and a big sofa where everyone will sit and enjoy watching TV together. My grandparents love reading. I wish that my dream house will have a reading space with lots of books.

I have a 3-year old pet dog called Tiger. I also want to have a small yet cosy space in my house for Tiger where he can sleep and relax when he grows old. Dream House Essay in English

Home , the place one spends more time in their life and shares special moments with family. Where one expects to live permanently carefree, feel protected under the roof of their house. Here are some sample essays on dream house.

100 Words Essay On Dream House

I'm always imagining how my future home will look. A home is a place where one is surrounded by the people they care about. The people who live in a house make it beautiful, not the furniture or decor. My ideal home would be one that I could share with my family after I come back from work.

I've always wanted a hillside wooden house. My ideal home would be one that overlooks a small river. I could see the sun setting and disappearing into the mountains through the windows. My ideal home would include a small garden in which I could grow my own vegetables and fruits.

200 Words Essay On Dream House

Dream House Essay in English

One day I want to have a home that makes me feel well and where I can be safe and happy with my family. I want to live in a big white house with blue shutters. My room will be overlooking the river so that I can paint the scenery. I want a blue coloured porch wrapped around the house where I can drink tea and watch the sunrise and sunset everyday.

My Ideal Home

My ideal home would be welcoming to my parents, grandparents, and siblings. My ideal home is one in which all of us can live happily and comfortably. The house I envision would be quite large, with four bedrooms and a large common area. The house should be outfitted with all modern conveniences. It should have a large TV, a home theatre system, and a Playstation.

The walls of the house will be painted in light colours to make it appear bright. Every room will have enough light bulbs and lamps. I also want a chandelier in the common room and a large sofa where everyone can sit and watch TV together. My grandparents are avid readers. My ideal home would have a library with a large number of books.

500 Words Essay On Dream House

The house is where we stay with our loved ones. A good house is one that makes the person feel at ease. It is a place where we can seek shelter from rain, heat, and storms, among other things. Everyone has their own preferences for the type of home they prefer to live in.

Location Of My Dream House

I want to live in the mountains of Switzerland. I want to live in a picturesque village named Grindewald where Alps mountain is located. I want to live in a small community where everyone knows each other, and people are very kind and helpful.

I want to raise cows on the hillsides. Every morning, I want to wake up to the melodious tinkle of a cowbell around my ears. When I walk out of my room, I want to stand on the lawn of the backyard and breathe in the fresh air. I want a warm and cosy house of comfort and peace.

The beautiful glacier can be seen from my terris's window. Why do I want this type of house? Because I enjoy seeing the sunrise and sunset, as well as the people working at their workplace. The breeze from the trees planted by the people of the village behind my dream house will be refreshing every day. It would be fantastic. I chose to build my home near the village and river so that I can feel refreshed and grateful to be surrounded by nature. In my ideal home, I also want to plant my own fruits and vegetables.

How My Dream House Would Look

First and foremost, my house would be located in the woods, away from everyone else. I'd also live in a contemporary-looking log cabin. Living in a log cabin has always been a dream of mine. I also want to live in a contemporary home, so combining the two would be ideal for me.

My dream home will be large and spacious. I want my house to be built on a mountain with as many green materials as possible to help protect the environment. I also want my house to be located away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, but not too far from civilization. This house style, which I believe suits my personality, is more antique and sophisticated, with a touch of simplicity and aesthetic. The house will have beautiful interiors and all of the amenities, such as a kitchen, three bathrooms, a staircase leading to the terrace, and a bonfire place.

My backyard would be open and have a view of the mountain and valleys. There would be a bonfire in the centre surrounded by chairs, and a barbeque place. I want a swimming pool and a jacuzzi in my backyard.

My room would be the biggest one out of the 5 rooms I want in my home. It would have black coloured walls and blue curtains. There would be a small bed for my dog in the corner of my room. I want to have a common room where everyone can sit and watch TV, spend some quality time with the family and have a huge wooden dining table in the corner of the room.

Doing topic research before writing an essay is very important. To write a dream house essay in English, you must first visualize the entire house in your mind. Then it would help if you decided what details and how many details you want to include in your dream house essay. These will include the words or phrases that you want to include.

Planning before writing not only saves time but helps you in organizing your ideas. You will have to spend some time in developing a basic outline of your essay. It will help you in improving the flow of your writing and will help the reader in visualizing your dream house.

As discussed before, having a writing plan proves to help bring your thoughts on a piece of paper. An outline of my dream house essay will be like a blueprint that will serve as a guide when you sit down to write the actual essay.

An example of the essay outline that describes your house can be:

  • Introduction
  • Body Paragraph 1: Details about the exterior of the house
  • Body Paragraph 2: Details about the interior of the house

You should feel free to include as many details or points as you wish or deem appropriate. With that said, make sure the flow is logical and the essay segues smoothly from the introduction to the body and then to the concluding part.

Your dream house essay should engage the readers. It can be only achieved when the body paragraphs are cohesive, linked, and are in a flow. It is unnecessary to make two separate paragraphs to communicate similar ideas; hence, they should be grouped together. Topic sentences should be used along with content to support it. All the paragraphs should have a similar length. The use of transition words (such as ‘furthermore’, ‘however’, and ‘besides’) will improve the connection and flow between paragraphs. Do not use intricate sentence structure that is difficult to read and understand. Simple sentences are easier to understand and will help in visualizing the house. The dream house essay example written at the end will provide you with a better idea of how paragraphs are written.

Your essay should include all of the details regarding the house. It would be best if you start by putting a “my dream house paragraph” at the start, which will give the reader a basic idea or introduction. It can be followed by a paragraph of what living in a dream house would be like for you. Then you can continue by explaining the exterior, interior, and particular areas or features of the house which make the house a “dream house” for you. You can mention the tiniest details as it helps the reader in visualizing better. You can also imagine yourself living in that house and then jot down different activities that you might be carrying out, such as hosting parties and having movie nights.

The conclusion of the essay will give a summary of all the points you have mentioned in your essay “the house of my dream”. It will wrap up your essay in a neat manner. When concluding your essay, please do not restate the idea or the statement that you want to have a dream house as it will be redundant. The conclusion is not supposed to bring any new ideas as they should only be explained in the body paragraphs.

Once you are done writing the essay, its time to sit back and revise it carefully. The revision process lets you look at the essay from a fresh perspective. You can be critical while reading it. It is the rethinking phase in which you reconsider the details, add something in case anything was missed, and reorganize the paragraphs. If you have missed details about the exciting floor tiling, while describing your dream house, now is the time to add those.

The golden rule of writing is not relying on the first draft of an essay about a dream house or of any essay. If you are not considering this, then you are risking more than just having confused readers. What if you have made spelling mistakes or errors in the sentence structure. It might derail the reader and can hinder the visualization process of your dream house. Proofreading can help you maintain quality and can help you in recognizing areas that could have been written and explained better.

To help with the visualization process, pictures that resemble your dream house can be added. It will also ensure the attentiveness of the reader as images are better at grabbing attention. Also, the human brain can process images much faster than words. Check out the example in the dream house college assignment written below.

essay about my dream house

Since childhood, I have been dreaming of the perfect house that will be a place of happiness, inspiration, and peace. The idea of having a house in a noisy city is something I have always dreaded. My dream house will be in the suburbs, outside the city. I would be very excited is there is a lake nearby as I adore nature. Though the house will be far from the city, that does not mean that I will live in isolation. Everything will be a walking distance, whether it is a supermarket or a car wash.

The house of my dreams will have a simple but modern design that would be appealing to the eyes. I would like to have a huge lawn where I can grow my vegetables and fruits. The parking would be spacious enough for several cars. I will place modern furniture on the front porch, where we can relax and enjoy the view. The backyard will have enough space to hold a party and entertain at least fifty people. I have a huge family, and we are always hosting parties. I also want a pool in the backyard so that I can host pool parties.

The house will have plenty of large glass windows that will make the house bright and spacious. I will plan each detail of the interior of my house. I want it to be very modern and minimalistic. Bulky furniture, dark wallpapers, and bohemian décor is something that I do not want in my house.

Unnecessary furniture clutters the house and makes me claustrophobic. The hall and large living room should have enough space so that people can move around quickly. I want to have comfortable sofas and soft furry carpet on the floor. The kitchen should be large and neat, as I am fond of cooking and baking. It will be equipped with all the latest appliances to make the whole baking process more comfortable. I would love to cook for my family on weekends. We can all sit on the large wooden dining table and enjoy the scrumptious meal.

The bedrooms will have attached bathrooms. I want a rain shower and a bathtub in every bathroom in my house. The bedrooms will have king-size, cozy beds with linen sheets. Just like the house, I want the color of the beddings to be light. Unlike most of the houses, I would like to have a small home theatre in my bedroom. I am not a bookworm so I might turn the room that was meant to be a library in a proper movie theatre so that I can host movie nights.

My dream house will be warm and welcoming. I want it to be my happy place, away from all the hustle and bustle. It will fulfill my desire of living near nature. It would be a perfect place for me to relax after a tough day at work. I wish that one day I can build this house and live in it.

100 Words Essay on My Dream Home

Introduction.

My dream home is a place where I can find peace, comfort, and happiness. It’s not just about the physical structure, but the feelings and memories it holds.

Location and Exterior

Situated amidst nature, my dream home would have a beautiful garden. The exterior would be painted in soft, calming colors, reflecting my personality.

Interior Design

Inside, it would be spacious with plenty of natural light. Every room would be designed to provide comfort and a sense of belonging.

In conclusion, my dream home would be a sanctuary of peace and happiness, a reflection of my personality and values.

250 Words Essay on My Dream Home

Everyone has a unique visualization of their dream home, a sanctuary that embodies their personal style, comfort, and aspirations. My dream home, a manifestation of my personal and intellectual growth, is a blend of modern architecture and sustainable living.

Architectural Design

My dream home would be a modern architectural masterpiece, incorporating elements of minimalism and functionality. It would have expansive glass walls to invite natural light, creating an illusion of boundless space. The living room would be an open plan, fostering familial bonds and social interactions, while the bedrooms would be private retreats, offering tranquility and solitude.

Sustainable Living

Incorporating sustainability into the design is a priority. The house would harness renewable energy sources, with solar panels adorning the roof and a rainwater harvesting system. The garden would be an organic sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna, fostering biodiversity.

Technology Integration

The dream house would be a smart home, equipped with advanced home automation systems. It would ensure energy efficiency, security, and convenience. The lighting, heating, and security systems would be interconnected, controlled remotely via a smartphone.

While the physical attributes of my dream home are important, the emotional resonance it holds is paramount. It would be a place that nurtures growth and fosters love, a place where memories are created and cherished. It is not merely a structure of bricks and mortar but a reflection of my values, aspirations, and personal journey towards a sustainable future.

500 Words Essay on My Dream Home

A home is more than just a physical structure; it is a sanctuary, a reflection of our personality, and a space that resonates with our aspirations. My dream home, therefore, is an amalgamation of my deepest desires, aesthetic sensibilities, and a manifestation of my understanding of sustainability.

Location and Exterior Design

Ideally, my dream home would be nestled in the heart of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. A serene environment, surrounded by lush greenery, with the soothing sounds of a nearby stream, and the chirping of birds would provide the perfect backdrop for my abode. The exterior design would be a harmonious blend of modern and traditional architectural elements, with large windows for natural light and a garden to foster my passion for gardening.

Interior Design and Layout

Inside, the house would be a celebration of open spaces and minimalistic design. I envision a spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the verdant landscape outside. The interior color scheme would be a palette of earthy tones, complementing the natural surroundings. The furniture would be a mix of comfort and style, with an emphasis on ergonomics and sustainability.

The kitchen, the heart of the home, would be equipped with energy-efficient appliances and a large island for communal cooking and gathering. My dream home would also have a home library, a testament to my love for literature, and a dedicated workspace, reflecting the changing dynamics of professional life.

Sustainability and Technology

In line with my commitment to sustainable living, the house would incorporate eco-friendly building materials and renewable energy sources. Solar panels would provide electricity, while a rainwater harvesting system would ensure water sustainability. To minimize the carbon footprint, the house would be equipped with smart home technologies for energy management, such as automated lighting and temperature control systems.

In essence, my dream home is more than a luxurious dwelling. It is a space that aligns with my values, promotes well-being, and encourages a sustainable lifestyle. While it may seem ambitious, I believe that the pursuit of this dream home is a journey towards self-realization and a testament to the possibility of living harmoniously with nature. In the end, the dream home is not just about the physicality of the structure, but also about the atmosphere and emotions it nurtures within its walls.

Essay on My Dream House

Imagine a place where every room reflects your dreams and desires, where comfort and creativity coexist – that’s my dream house. In this essay, I will argue that a dream house is more than just a place to live; it’s a sanctuary of inspiration and personal expression.

The Importance of Dreaming

Dreams are like the seeds of possibility. They inspire us to think beyond the ordinary, to imagine the extraordinary. Dreaming is essential because it fuels our aspirations and gives life a sense of purpose. My dream house is a canvas for those aspirations.

The Exterior of My Dream House

The exterior of my dream house is a sight to behold. It stands proudly with a timeless design that combines modern and classical elements. A wraparound porch welcomes guests, while a garden bursting with colorful flowers surrounds the house.

According to architectural experts, the exterior of a house should reflect the owner’s personality and style. It should be visually appealing and inviting, just like the entrance to my dream house.

The Grand Foyer

Upon entering my dream house, you are greeted by a grand foyer. The ceilings soar high, and the walls are adorned with artwork that tells a story. The centerpiece is a magnificent chandelier that casts a warm glow throughout the space.

According to interior designers, a well-designed foyer sets the tone for the entire house. It should make a statement and create a sense of anticipation, just like the one in my dream house.

The Heart of the Home: The Kitchen

The kitchen in my dream house is a culinary haven. It boasts state-of-the-art appliances, a spacious island for cooking and gathering, and an abundance of natural light. It’s a place where family and friends come together to create and share meals.

Research shows that the kitchen is often the heart of a home. It’s where memories are made, and bonds are strengthened. A well-designed kitchen can enhance the overall quality of life in a house.

The Cozy Living Room

The living room in my dream house is cozy and inviting. Plush sofas and armchairs are arranged around a fireplace, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere. Shelves are filled with books, a testament to the love of reading in our family.

Interior designers often emphasize the importance of comfort in a living room. It should be a space where people can relax, unwind, and connect with one another, just like the one in my dream house.

The Creative Studio

In my dream house, there’s a room dedicated to creativity. It’s a studio with ample natural light, stocked with art supplies, musical instruments, and space for dancing. It’s a place where imagination knows no bounds.

Experts believe that having a creative space in a house can foster artistic expression and personal growth. It’s a place where one can explore new talents and hobbies.

The Serene Bedroom

The bedroom in my dream house is a serene retreat. Soft colors and comfortable furnishings create a tranquil ambiance. Large windows offer views of the surrounding nature, and a cozy reading nook beckons for moments of reflection.

According to interior decorators, a bedroom should be a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation. It’s a space where one can escape from the demands of the day and find peace, just like the one in my dream house.

The Conclusion of Essay on My Dream House

In conclusion, my dream house is not just a physical structure; it’s a manifestation of my aspirations and personality. Each room tells a story and invites creativity, comfort, and connection. A dream house is a place where imagination meets reality, and where the journey of dreams continues to unfold. It is a canvas for the art of living and the embodiment of what makes a house a true home.

Vocabulary - describing homes

describing homes

LESSON OVERVIEW

In this lesson students talk about their dream homes, revise vocabulary for describing homes and put it into practice through various speaking activities.

VOCABULARY FOR DESCRIBING HOMES

The lesson starts with a matching exercise in which students revise different types of homes. They match them with their definitions (e.g. cottage, detached house ) and also come up with two missing definitions. Afterwards, they work in pairs and, using some language for expressing opinions (e.g. I think, I suppose ), they discuss the advantages and disadvantages of living in three chosen types of homes. The next activity invites students to use their imagination and decide which aspects they would prioritise while buying or building their dream home. They look at a list, choose five and give reasons why (eg. price, big size ).

VIDEO & DESCRIBING HOMES

The second part of the lesson starts with a short video in which people describe their dream homes. Students look at a list of aspects discussed before and tick the ones mentioned by the speakers in the video. Then, they engage in a discussion about their personal preferences regarding a dream home. The next exercise gives students an opportunity to learn even more vocabulary for describing homes . They analyse another box with words and classify them into four categories: size, description, amenities and location. The following exercises provide students with oral practice of the language learnt in the lesson. First, they look at four photos of different homes and describe them. Then, they exchange opinions on different aspects of living in these types of homes. Finally, focusing on six given aspects, such as views or location , students reflect on their own dream homes and share opinions with partners.

It is a great lesson. It doesn’t teach us how to use functional language, but it also gives us knowledge of what kind of houses people could live in America. As an Indonesian, I do not have many types of houses here. It would be wonderful if you give an illustration or some pictures to the example of the houses so that we get the visualization or better image of how they are.

' src=

Interesting point! I think we assumed that it is obvious what these types of accomodation look like and decided not to include pictures. After reading your message, I realized that these actually might be helpful. Let’s fix it! Find the house images at eslbrains.com/dream-houses

Sample essay on my favorite city Moscow

It was my first trip to Moscow and before going to Moscow I have consulted about this city with my advisor. He told me that Moscow is a very expensive city having hotel rooms for about $1000 and $12 coffees.

Moscow city night

Moscow’s Airports:

There are three international airports in Moscow that are Domodedovo, Vnukovo and the third one is Sheremetyevo.  All of them are constructed outside the Moscow.

Accommodation:

The next thing after landing over the airport is the issue of accommodation. Where should I go to stay was the first question in my mind? But thanks to my advisor who was with me throughout the whole journey. He took me to the Godzilla’s Hostel which is the oldest and the largest hostel of the city. You will get this hostel in the historical center. I found this area with numerous cafes which were inexpensive and that was the good news for me. We both found this place quite good for us because it has also a metro located station at the roadside.

Transportation System:

This city has the best transport system in the whole world. This big town has a little bit cold weather in winter and I along with my advisor decided to walk through the streets in this chilly weather. But soon we got to know that Moscow metro is more likely to be traveled in the city. For one ride and two rides, Moscow’s metro cost $0.80 for 50 rubles and $1.60 for 100 rubles. There was also an option of 32 rubles in one ride for $0.50. This option is known as Troika card. But we both traveled into two rides of 100 rubles.

Free Tour of Sightseeing:

As you know that Moscow one of the most expensive world’s city, I and my advisor wanted to visit Moscow in as less budget as possible. So free tour to Moscow is a good choice for us. What does it offer? Walking free tours in the city center and daily we left our hostel room and depart from there 10:45 in the morning to visit the Moscow city in the metro. It took two and a half an hour to visit various landmarks etc.

Next amazing option you can get there is sightseeing bus of Moscow which charges $12.50 for one day route.

Moscow city day

Moscow’s Culture:

To know about the culture of Moscow, we both entered into the museum. There are so many museums, exhibitions and different type of galleries in the city. Though the prices of the museums are different from one another but many museums has a free entry every month’s third Thursday.

Well, Moscow has many standard restaurants which are enough expensive to empty your pockets but it doesn’t mean that you can’t do fine dining within your budget. You will have hundreds of dishes in The Grable Chain restaurant’s buffet.

We both went to Grable restaurant and had marinated mushrooms, salted herring, and pork shashlik. We ate a delicious food within our budget.

We stayed in Moscow for about 3 days and then we are left with empty pockets except we have the money to come back to our city. So we decided that it is now the time to say goodbye to Moscow and come back to our home sweet home.

By Angela Serratore

  • Sterling Reed

Los Angeles | $2.35 Million

A renovated 1922 bungalow with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse, on a 0.2-acre lot.

This house was renovated by Barbara Bestor, recognized by the American Institute of Architects for her contributions to local residential and commercial architecture. It is in Eagle Rock, a few blocks from Colorado Boulevard, one of the neighborhood’s main thoroughfares, and a 15-minute walk from Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School. Rockdale Elementary School and Occidental College are five minutes away by car.

Pasadena and Glendale are about 15 minutes away. Driving to downtown Los Angeles takes about half an hour.

Size: 2,175 square feet

Price per square foot: $1,080

Indoors: The low picket fence in front has a gate that swings open to a manicured yard.

The front door, framed by a covered porch, opens into a living room with Douglas fir floors, street-facing windows, a staircase up to a lofted family room and a brick fireplace flanked by built-in bookshelves.

This space flows into a kitchen with custom-designed cabinetry, a center island with a Douglas fir counter, and a glass door that opens to the yard.

All three bedrooms are off a corridor extending from the back of the kitchen. The primary bedroom has vaulted wood ceilings and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The bedroom next door is used as a home office; the third bedroom, at the back of the house, has a window seat and built-in shelves. They share the bathroom across the hall, which has a combined tub and shower tiled in white and a bright red storage cabinet.

The guesthouse, linked to the main house by a paved walkway, has an open living area, one bedroom and a full bathroom with a claw-foot tub that has a shower overhead.

Outdoor space: In addition to the guesthouse, the property has a detached studio used as a home gym; a gravel patio shaded by mature trees; and a pergola-covered patio with a built-in wood banquette. The carport attached to the house has two parking spots.

  • Sean Poreda

Alameda | $2.395 Million

A 1928 french normandy-style house with six bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, on a 0.2-acre lot.

This home is in the Gold Coast neighborhood, known for its stately, well-kept houses dating to the early decades of the 20th century. It is less than a 10-minute walk from public elementary and middle schools, and from several city parks with playgrounds and athletic fields. Alameda City Hall, several restaurants and an Art Deco-style movie theater are within a five-minute drive.

Driving to downtown Oakland or Berkeley takes about 20 minutes. San Francisco is about half an hour away.

Size: 3,939 square feet

Price per square foot: $608

Indoors: A brick pathway leads from the sidewalk to the front door, which opens into a large wood-paneled foyer.

To the right is the sunken living room with an original plasterwork ceiling, a fireplace, arched windows overlooking a rose garden and French doors that open to a brick patio. Across the foyer is a dining room with a view of the gardens.

The dining room connects to a breakfast room with a built-in china cabinet. This space has direct access to a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and ample cabinetry.

A full bathroom with a stall shower is off the kitchen. Nearby is a bedroom large enough to hold a queen-size bed. Also in this part of the house are a powder room and a family room with a wood-burning fireplace and French doors that open to the patio.

The other five bedrooms are on the second floor, reached by a staircase with an original wood banister and an arched leaded-glass window. The primary suite, off the landing, includes a large, sunny bedroom, a walk-in closet and a full bathroom with an updated walk-in shower. Next to the primary suite is another, smaller bedroom. The third bedroom is at the end of the hall, with another en suite bathroom. The fourth and fifth bedrooms are also off the landing and share a bathroom with a combined tub and shower.

Outdoor space: The patio off the living and family rooms feels private, thanks to the brick wall and mature plantings surrounding it. Another patio, used for dining and grilling, is on the other side of the house. The attached garage has two parking spots.

The State of Real Estate

Whether you’re renting, buying or selling, here’s a look at real estate trends..

A lot of change is happening in the housing market. Here’s the outlook .

With a landmark legal settlement  poised to upend a decades-old norm that has dictated who pays real estate agents and how much, economists, agents and lenders are beginning to worry that the burden could now be on first-time home buyers .

American homeowners could see a significant drop  in the cost of selling their homes  after a real estate trade group agreed to a landmark deal  that would eliminate the standard 6% sales commission.

A pricey housing market and higher interest rates have made it harder to afford a house, but so-called closing costs — for items like loan origination fees, discount points, appraisal and credit report fees — are also adding to the challenge .

As the prices for office space in urban centers tumble, cities whose municipal budgets rely on taxes associated with commercial real estate are starting to bear the brunt .

Homeowners are adding hidden doors and rooms to foil burglars, eke out extra storage space and prepare for Armageddon .

Long Essay On My Dream House 500 Words In English

If I were to choose and describe my dream house, I would choose a house according to my personality. It helps people to get an impression about you, and this leaves a long-lasting effect on others.

I would love a house in Frankton, Indiana. There are so many reasons why I love this area. It quiet, and there are not many people around this locality. Everything is within walking distance, and that is where I have grown up. These are some of the reasons why I would love to stay in this rural community.

I love gardening, and having a yard full of trees and plants has been my dream. Freshly bloomed flowers cast a magic spell on me, and I am relaxed when I see it. I would like to have a little treehouse for my kids to play in.

For my living room, I would like a cozy setup. The living room would have a plasma screen television paired with a black leather couch, a white rug, and two recliners. I would love a beautiful wooden finished dark floor—a coffee table, preferably black colour, with white coasters. As I am a plant fanatic, I love succulents and indoor plants. A mini cactus sitting directly in the middle of the table.

I would love to imagine a little hallway and a little bit of a staircase that would lead to the kitchen and dining room. I love ceramic wares, and I want the utensils to be aesthetic. A beautiful granite island top table in the kitchen with some small plants in ceramic bowls would be the perfect set up.

I look to cook, and I would love to invite my full family for dinner, and we would sit around this long skinny table and have a laugh while enjoying the meal.

It was a childhood dream on mine to have a fully furnished basement that people would easily mistake for a bedroom—a movie screen, with a superb sound system. There must be space in the basement where my dogs would run around and play. A bunk bed would be beautiful for the kids to enjoy.

In my garage, I want to have enough room for my car and my two-wheeler. I would also like to do my laundry in the garage, as the garage offers the ideal space one needs to do their laundry.

Coming to the main rooms, I want a study, where my books for study, books for reading in my free time, CDs of my movie collection would be kept. There must be a cozy corner in that room, where there will be a small couch by the window, where I can relax and spend my own sweet time.

The bedroom will be sweet and, with a queen-size bed and a lot of pillows, I have no such specifications about it. Just an addition to my bedroom would be a tiny bed for my dogs.

All in all, I want a sober and peaceful house where I can turn into a home.

I want to build a dream house with a garden where I can grow my fruits and vegetables.

I want a spacious living room with four other rooms which can be used as bedrooms and a study room. One bedroom will be there for my grandparents and the other one for my parents.

My bedroom must have a very comfortable bed where I can relax. It would also be nice to have a PlayStation in my room. My room should be brightly colored, and on the walls, my favorite cartoon characters should be drawn.

For the living room, there must be a giant television where we can watch movies together. I also wish to have a pet cat or a pet dog, so there must be an area for them in my dream house.

Overall, my dream house is a house where my family, along with my pets, and I can live happily.
