A Divorce Agreement is a contract entered into by a married couple that describes how the couple will handle their family responsibilities and protect and divide their marital assets as they move through the process of dissolving their marriage.

This document can be used to create either:

- a temporary agreement that will only remain in place until a new agreement is created in the form of a divorce decree; or

- an agreement that will be incorporated into a final divorce decree and remain in place after the divorce is completed.

This Agreement addresses issues of child and spousal support, division of debts and assets, child custody and parenting time arrangements, and division of the marital home . This method can lessen, or even eliminate, the need for court intervention. For documents that focus only on specific aspects of divorce, please see documents such as the Child Support Agreement , the Child Custody Agreement , or the Spousal Support Demand Letter .

Parties may use this document if:

• Parties plan on filing for divorce in the United States and meet the residency requirements for their state
• Parties mutually agree to separate and are still in contact with each other
• Parties are willing and able to negotiate the terms of the divorce, including property division and child custody

How to use this document

Working together, both Parties can use this document to record any agreements they come to regarding their Divorce. There are sections including spousal support, division of property and assets, child support, child custody, and visitation schedules. The Parties should complete any applicable sections and disclose any information necessary for both Parties to make informed decisions about their decisions and compromises. If there are prior existing child custody or support orders or property division agreements, the Parties can choose to incorporate their terms into this Agreement by attaching the associated paperwork to this document. The Parties may also use this document to amend and change already existing agreements.

NOTE: Child support is a matter of the state and must be approved by a court before a Party can change the amount of child support they pay.

After completing the Divorce Agreement, the Parties may independently consult attorneys . The Parties may agree, particularly if the Agreement includes the division of property, to each consult with an attorney prior to executing the document due to the nature of the important and personal rights involved. If desired, there is an option to sign the document in front of their attorneys and have their attorneys complete paperwork acknowledging that they've witnessed the signing of the document.

Once the Parties have completed the Agreement and had it reviewed to their satisfaction, they can take the document before a judge. If the Court decides that the Agreement is fair to all concerned parties, it may be signed into an order of the Court as a final judgement of Divorce

Applicable law

Divorce and separation is generally a matter of state law, with different states having different laws dictating the time and manner in which a divorce is completed.

In order to file for divorce in a state, you must meet that state's residency requirements . Some states require longer residency periods that others prior to filing for divorce. Further, some states have additional requirements in order to file for divorce in that state. Currently, Louisiana, South Dakota, Iowa, Alaska, and Washington state are the only states who do not have residency requirements. You can find the residency requirements for your state by checking with your the County Clerk's office where you plan to file for divorce.

In determining matters related to children, such as child custody, visitation, and support, a Court must approve any arrangement using a "best interests of the child" standard . Generally, if both parents come to an agreement regarding these matters, a Court will be willing include the agreement in the official legal documents. However, the possibility remains that a Court will require an adjustment of the agreement if they determine that the arrangement is not in the best interests of the child(ren) involved.

Divorce should be an option

The House of Representatives committee on population and family relations approved the absolute divorce bill which allows it to proceed to plenary for debate. This is the closest we have come to finally allow people to have full freedom to decide on the course of their relationships. As a predominantly Catholic nation, this understandably will cause fierce arguments and culturally entrenched righteous indignation. However, as someone who works with families, let me offer some points on this issue.

If you as a couple do not want to consider divorce in your marriage, you don’t have to. Legalizing divorce does not threaten harmonious families. People who are happy and content within their marriages will not suddenly rush to get one just because it is available. If you worry that your spouse will divorce you the moment it becomes legal, then you have much more important things to worry about in your relationship. It can, however, save the lives of many victims of domestic violence (mostly women) and allow people to determine their own lives.

Not allowing divorce as a legal option is like not allowing emergency exits in a building. Imagine there’s a fire but the building owner didn’t put in emergency exits because he “does not believe in it” and that you were expected to keep managing the fire, not escape it. Imagine still a building infested with toxic mold but that you were not permitted to evacuate because others couldn’t fathom why you don’t have the willpower to tough it out. Most people hopefully will not need to use emergency exits in their lifetime. And you’ll be glad it’s there when you need it.

Divorce can also be a protective tool against domestic violence, which is the strongest reason why it should exist. In other countries, they found a significant reduction of spousal conflict and extreme partner violence once divorce was an accessible option. When you know that your spouse has legal rights to leave, you are disabused of the notion of your spouse as property and less likely to mistreat them. Domestic violence also takes up a significant portion of reasons for divorce, around 25-50 percent in other countries. By refusing to provide this option, you are condemning victims of domestic violence to a lifetime of hell. Not having access to options can also turn into desperation—leading some individuals to consider a lethal option.

Even without the threat of domestic violence, we should consider the natural course of intimate relationships. You can only realistically commit to a set of behaviors, not a set of feelings. You cannot genuinely promise to make someone happy. You can, however, promise to not have sex with anyone else (you can still break this promise, of course, but it is more than possible to keep). Feelings, by nature, are temporary. They can be lost and regained. They can strengthen and fade.

Love is both a feeling and an act. Love, as a feeling, can change. I do not know which Hallmark writer decided that love should be forever. The act of loving, however, is within your control and something you can choose to commit to. By accepting the nature of feelings, we must accept the possibility that we might lose the feeling of love for our spouse despite our best intentions. The act that follows this loss—whether it be active efforts to rekindle the lost feeling, redefining the marriage as platonic mutual respect, or acknowledging that the marriage is over—can still be done in a loving way. The best way to shield children from the harmful effects of separation or divorce is for both parents to commit to respecting each other and to still care for each other as co-parents. Ironically, couples who do acknowledge the wax and wane of romantic feeling are much more likely to stay together because they do not take each other for granted and make repeated intentions to stay. They also tend to be more generous and less calculative during separation and genuinely wishing each other happiness.

Divorce is not the killer of happy marriages. It is simply a life raft for people drowning in a marriage that’s already long dead. If you want to ensure the success of a marriage, we should be providing couples with resources and support to help them better adapt and not simply mandate them to stay together. If you love someone, you don’t chain them to you; them choosing to stay is a greater sense of emotional security than locking them in a divorce-less marriage.

A divorce settlement agreement (or a marital settlement agreement) helps two divorcing spouses by detailing the division of assets and spousal support. Before the spouses write the agreement, they must fully disclose all their assets to ensure a fair writing process. Once they agree, a judge must approve the final document to ensure it’s fair to both parties.

A divorce settlement agreement is a written document between separating spouses that outlines, with specificity, all their agreements concerning the division of their property, assets, and debts. It also describes their arrangements for alimony and child support , if applicable, once their divorce becomes final.

You can’t initiate or finalize a divorce with just a divorce agreement. Once you and your former partner write this agreement, you can merge it with a proposed divorce decree. Then, a judge can legally execute and enforce it through your local court.

Using a divorce settlement checklist can help you understand what you need to plan for before you start writing your agreement.

Divorce Laws

Here are some divorce laws to help guide you through the process of legally dissolving your marriage:

Division of Property

A couple can decide on the division of property without involving a third party if they can reach a mutual agreement. If a couple has a prenuptial agreement , this document will override property distribution laws if written according to their state’s laws.

If you and your spouse can’t agree on how to divide property or don’t have a prenup, the court can divide marriage property via one of two laws depending on where you live:

1. Equitable Distribution Law

Under equitable distribution law, the court divides the assets of a marriage equitably but not necessarily equally. It considers multiple factors, including the length of the marriage, each spouse’s financial contributions during the marriage, who has primary custody of the children, and each spouse’s financial needs, when deciding on an equitable distribution.

The following 41 states implement the equitable distribution law in divorce courts:

• Mississippi
• New Hampshire
• North Carolina
• North Dakota
• Pennsylvania
• Rhode Island
• South Carolina
• South Dakota *
• Tennessee *
• West Virginia

* In these states, couples can choose if they want to make their property community property.

2. Community Property Law

Community property law divides the assets and debts of a divorce between the two spouses equally.

Only nine states implement community property laws in divorce court, which are the following:

Alimony is an amount the higher-earning former spouse makes to the other individual for a specific period after the marriage.

The parties can calculate an alimony amount through mutual discussion of their incomes, the length of the marriage, and the number of dependents each individual has. The judge can review the alimony in the divorce agreement and decide whether to approve it.

Four types of alimony include the following:

• Temporary alimony: The supporting party has to pay the recipient until they’re officially divorced.
• Permanent alimony: The supporting party has to pay the recipient until the recipient gets remarried or either party passes away.
• Rehabilitative alimony: The supporting party has to pay the recipient until the recipient can seek employment and become more financially independent.
• Reimbursement alimony: The supporting party has to pay the recipient back for expenses they accumulated while married.

Child support consists of the not-tax-deductible payments a non-custodial parent makes to the parent with custody of the children. It helps the custodial parent provide the proper care and support for the children, and it may include enough money to cover the children’s education costs or health/dental insurance.

States usually implement one of three models to decide how much child support the non-custodial parent should pay:

• Income Shares Model: This model is designed so the child receives the same percentage of their parents’ combined incomes as if they still lived together.
• Percentage of Income Model: This model is designed so the child support the non-custodial parent pays is only a percentage of their income.
• Melson Formula: This model is a more complex version of the Income Shares model because it considers multiple public policy judgments to meet the children’s and parents’ basic needs.

According to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act , the parent with custody of the pair’s minor children is the automatic beneficiary for tax purposes. They can save up to $2,000 per dependent. However, you should note that only one former spouse can report the children as dependents for tax savings. Parties can come to a different decision within a divorce agreement .

Types of Divorce

There are two main types of divorce: at-fault and no-fault. At-fault requires one party to prove another party did something wrong, like committed adultery or cruelty toward their spouse. No-fault doesn’t require any proof that one party did something wrong.

All states offer no-fault divorces, but only 18 are true “no-fault” states, meaning that individuals can’t initiate a fault-based divorce. These 18 states are:

Only three states (Tennessee, Mississippi, and South Dakota) require mutual consent for a no-fault divorce.

Legal Separation

All U.S. states allow couples to legally separate before divorce, but legal separation laws differ between states.

No state requires couples to get legally separated before they divorce. However, legal separation might be a good idea so a couple can figure things out between them or maintain their marital benefits.

Step 1 – File the Divorce Petition

The first step in initiating the dissolution of your marriage is to file a divorce petition. You can fill out your divorce petition to indicate the grounds for your divorce, the involved parties, and the relief you seek.

File this document with the appropriate court in your jurisdiction. If you’re the one to file it, you become the petitioner. Your soon-to-be ex-spouse will be the respondent.

Step 2 – Notify Your Spouse of the Divorce

Notify your spouse of the divorce. They may discover when they’re served the divorce papers, but you can consider telling them sooner. Speak with your attorney for guidance on safely informing your spouse of an impending divorce.

Step 3 – Request Temporary Court Orders (If Necessary)

If you and your spouse disagree about matters like spousal support or the custody of your children, you can request temporary court orders. These orders will guide specific processes until your divorce is finalized.

Step 4 – Negotiate a Settlement

You and your spouse can have an open conversation to negotiate a settlement. If you agree on specific terms, you can save time and money that you’d otherwise spend in court. Come to a settlement via mediation with each other or negotiation through each of your attorneys.

Step 5 – Take the Divorce to a Final Trial

If you and your spouse can’t agree on some or all divorce-related matters, you may have to take the divorce to a final trial. Here, you can present your arguments, show your evidence, and have witnesses speak to support your case.

A mutual consent divorce can help you avoid going to court, but you and your partner may not be able to agree on everything. In this case, you can take some aspects to trial.

Step 6 – Receive a Final Judgment

A judge will make a final decision and release the terms of your divorce, including matters relating to child support, child custody, and property division. At this point, the divorce is finalized, and you and your spouse are no longer married to one another.

Here’s a list of steps on how to write a divorce settlement agreement:

Step 1 – Provide Parties and Marriage Information

The first section of a marital settlement agreement should contain the details of both parties and their marriage.

Petitioner and Respondent Information

The petitioner is the spouse who filed the divorce petition. The respondent is the spouse who has been served the divorce petition. You should include the contact details of both the petitioner and the respondent. Each party should specify whether they’re a United States Armed Forces member.

If you’re a United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard member, you will be covered under the Uniformed Services Former Spouses’ Act (USFSPA). The USFSPA discusses treating retirement pay, commissary, exchange, and health benefits. It also advises on issues such as child support and spousal support.

When deciding if the settlement is fair, a court would consider whether either spouse is an armed forces member.

Marriage Date and Location

You should specify when you and your spouse got married and the location.

Current Status

Note when you and your spouse began living “separate and apart.”

Remember that living “separate and apart” doesn’t necessarily mean the parties must live in different places. At its minimum, it means that they cannot be physically intimate.

Step 2 – Provide Spousal Support Information

Spousal support, or alimony, is payment from one spouse to another after a separation or divorce. Spousal support allows the receiving spouse to maintain the standard of living they had during the marriage.

Specify which party will receive spousal support, the amount, the date payments will begin and end, and whether they can modify it.

If one spouse must pay spousal support, it is common practice for the supporting spouse to carry a life insurance policy to guarantee payments if they die. The receiving spouse would be named the beneficiary, and the supportive spouse generally must maintain the insurance policy as long as spousal payments are required.

Step 3 – Decide on the Distribution of Real Property

Next, you can list whether you and your spouse own a marital home. If the answer is yes, you can dictate joint versus sole ownership and other elements (if applicable) like:

• The division of the net proceeds from the sale of the marital home
• Who will pay the mortgage of the marital home
• Who will be responsible for maintenance, minor repairs, and major repairs for the home

In this section, you can divide other real property that doesn’t include the marital home.

Step 4 – Divide Bank and Financial Accounts

You and your spouse can agree to divide joint bank and financial accounts, such as savings accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit. It’s essential to disclose all accounts to facilitate a smooth marital settlement.

Step 5 – Divide Personal Property

If you and your spouse have personal property, like furniture or collectibles, you can divide it in the next section. Please list the item’s name, describe it thoroughly, and provide its value. Specify which items the respondent will receive, which items the petitioner will receive, and which items are being split among the two parties.

Step 6 – Assign Ownership of Vehicles

Dictate which vehicles the respondent and petitioner will receive. Provide accurate descriptions of each car, including their make, model, color, and year.

Step 7 – Outline Outstanding Debts, Charge Accounts, and Credits

Outline who will accept outstanding debts, charge accounts, and credits. If one person is assuming a debt, it’s important to note that they’re holding the other party harmless to avoid confusion in the future.

Step 8 – Settle Pension and Retirement Plans and Annuities

Decide whether you and your spouse will divide interests in pension and retirement plans. You can divide these plans equally or allocate a specific percentage to each party.

Step 9 – State When the Parties Will File Taxes Individually

List the year both parties will start filing taxes individually rather than as a married couple. Clarify who will pay any penalties or interest on prior joint income tax returns.

Step 10 – Restore Either Party’s Former Name

If either party wants to restore their former surname, you can notice this change in your divorce agreement.

Step 11 – State the Governing Law for Your Agreement

Specify which state’s laws will govern your marital settlement agreement.

Step 12 – Include Miscellaneous Details

Near the end of your divorce agreement, you can include any other information that applies to divorce. For example, if you and your spouse have children, you may outline details relating to:

• Child support
• Child custody
• Visitation arrangements

Step 13 – Sign the Document

Sign the document yourself and acquire your spouse’s signature. Have witnesses watch you sign the divorce agreement and have them confirm their presence with their signatures. You can also have the document notarized to prevent fraud.

Here are some tips to implement when writing a divorce settlement agreement:

Consider Using a Mediator

As you write your divorce settlement agreement, consider whether mediation would be a suitable option for you. Discussing issues with an impartial third party can help resolve them quicker, and you can avoid having the divorce process drawn out in court.

Also, depending on the age of your children, mediation could help your kids have a say in their custody arrangements. Speaking frankly with either parent may be too difficult for them.

Using a mediator may result in more honest responses and ultimately lead to you creating an agreement that satisfies the entire family.

Fully Disclose All Information

When writing your divorce settlement agreement, listing all assets (including gifts, inheritances, and real estate property) is essential. Failure to disclose all of your assets could result in future litigation where you could receive fines or have to potentially transfer ownership of the asset to your spouse [1] .

For example, imagine one individual hides $20,000 in assets from their spouse. If a court discovers this hidden amount during the divorce process, it may order the individual to pay $10,000 to the other spouse. Sometimes, a court may order the deceitful spouse to pay the other spouse the total amount. Still, it may sentence the dishonest spouse to jail time.

Review Your Agreement Carefully

Review your agreement carefully to ensure you didn’t omit any sections or provide incomplete information. If you forget to address a topic in your divorce settlement agreement, it may be more challenging to handle once you and your former spouse are separated.

Where do I go for a divorce?

Each jurisdiction handles divorces differently, so you may have to go to a different court depending on where you live. For example, a jurisdiction may dictate that a family court, domestic relations court, or another specialized court handles your divorce.

Once you determine the proper court for your jurisdiction, you can file your divorce papers in the court that has authority over divorce cases. You’ll typically file in the county where you or your partner reside.

Start filing a divorce case by speaking with your lawyer. Work with them to fill out a divorce petition and alert your spouse of the impending divorce.

Grey divorce is on the rise with more Australian couples splitting after the age of 50 than ever before

It's been dubbed the "grey divorce" or "silver separation" revolution.

Couples in their 50s or older are calling it quits on decades of commitment and heading into their senior years alone.

While the overall divorce rate in Australia has declined, there's an upward trend in separation among baby boomers and older gen X, with experts warning it could have significant implications for the wider community.

Leanne Winter and her partner were both 53 when they decided to end their 20-year relationship.

The pair, who met in 2001 and have two children, are among an increasing number of Australian couples going their separate ways later in life.

"We had a pretty good life, and we were pretty happy. But as time went on, we just grew apart," Ms Winter said.

"We didn't really talk that much. We could go days without having a conversation.

"I wanted more than that. I wanted that communication. I wanted that connection. I wanted someone to share my life with rather than coexist."

Couples who had been married for 20 years or more accounted for more than one quarter of the 56,244 divorces in 2021, according to Australian Institute of Family Studies data.

In the 1980s and 1990s, older couples made up a smaller proportion — about one in five divorces.

So, why are older couples breaking up? 

Psychologist Nahum Kozak, who specialises in couples counselling, believes empty nest syndrome — a term used to refer to the grief that many parents feel when their children move out of home — is a significant factor contributing to the rise.

"Once the kids go, they're like, 'Oh, we never dealt with X. We never talked about Y,'" Mr Kozak said.

"It's things that have hit them earlier in their marriage that kind of got swept under the carpet while they were dealing with other things like raising children."

Another study published by Australian Seniors last year also revealed an upward trend in late-in-life separations and found financial pressures and retirement adjustments were among the top reasons.

Ms Winter, who now lives on the Gold Coast and works as a high school teacher, said a difference in long-term plans had strained her relationship with her former partner.

"My parents were getting older, and I wanted to be near them, and they were on the east coast, and we lived on the west coast," she said.

"I wanted to travel overseas and he wanted to travel around Australia — everything that we wanted was so different."

'Serious implications' on society 

Barbara Barbosa Neves is a senior lecturer in sociology at Monash University and studies loneliness in later life.

Dr Neves said societal changes had removed the stigma once associated with divorce.

"It is no longer a sign of failure," she said.

"That makes it easier for people to actually navigate these life changes without feeling social shame or embarrassment."

But she warned the rising divorce rate among older Australians had serious implications, not only for couples but for the wider society.

She said it could lead to financial stress and poor health, placing pressure on children or the government to provide care or support.

"We have also seen a record number of older renters because of post-divorce across many Western societies, not only in Australia," she said.

"This is because older divorcees are less likely to be able to buy new homes and get mortgages."

Consider prenup in new relationships, lawyer says

Family law expert Geoffrey Sinclair said there were a few key things people should consider after a separation, including their capacity to borrow money.

"That's something that people don't really think about, particularly in circumstances where they've been able to borrow all their life," he said.

"As they get older, it gets harder to get money."

Separation could also affect superannuation, the terms of a will and enduring power of attorney, including decisions about health care.

Mr Sinclair said people entering another de facto relationship or marriage should also consider a prenuptial agreement.

"You usually find that going into a relationship later in life, both parties have assets that they've accumulated earlier on," he said.

"[A prenuptial agreement] is a really good way for people to be able to protect those interests in relation to what they've brought to the relationship and also ensure there's some protection for children of previous relationships."

Hopes for an amicable reunion

Ms Winter said she had been trying to legally finalise her separation for the past two years and admitted the entire process had been "difficult".

She hoped the situation would be sorted out before their son's wedding next month so they could have an amicable reunion.

"It's the first time we'll see each other. It's a bit nerve-racking," she said.

"But we're getting to the end now, and hopefully, a positive future for the whole family because we're still a family."

Dear Care and Feeding,

When I was 12, my parents got a divorce. He ended up moving in with his mistress, whom he later married. Ever since I was a kid, she has been incredibly jealous of the attention that I got from him.

For years, she expressed this by subtly tearing me down. But it came to a head last Halloween when I went over to their house to spend time with them and she told me, out of his earshot, that I wasn’t welcome there anymore. She also made some remarks about my struggle to find employment—something I was quite sensitive about at the time. I realized then that I had to be extremely careful about what I said in confidence to my father since I could never know if it was going to come back to bite me.

These days, my father and I still see each other occasionally (I no longer see his wife), and I love him—and I think he loves me—but when we’re together, I always feel anxious. I monitor myself. I don’t trust him with any details of my personal life. But I still feel obligated to see him every once in a while, plus I don’t want to hurt his feelings when he suggests getting together, so either I agree to see him or make up some excuse not to. It feels cruel and cowardly to keep him in the dark like this, but it also feels cruel to blindside him by being honest with him and admitting feelings that I’ve bottled up since childhood, feelings he knows nothing about. I don’t want to spend every interaction with him in rock mode. I want to salvage my relationship with him, but I don’t know how, or if it is at all possible.

Dear Holding,

You can’t salvage your relationship with him if you aren’t honest with him. Surely it won’t be news to him that you and his wife don’t have a relationship at all. If your telling him how hard the divorce was on you, how painful it is to you that his wife dislikes you (and how you know she does), and how sad it makes you that your relationship with him is so constrained, makes him angry, then there’s no relationship to salvage. You’re not blindsiding him, telling him all this: You’re his child , even if you’re all grown up now, and keeping how you feel from him has been a burden you are ready to put down. Even if it means that the extremely constrained, near nonexistent (it seems, from your description) relationship you have right now is shaken—even if it comes to an end—it’s time to set that burden down. He can choose to pick it up or not.

But I also want to make sure you understand that relationships are two-way streets—even between grown children and their parents— and that there is probably a lot you don’t know about his marriage to your mother and about his second marriage. There’s probably a lot you don’t know about how things stand between the two of you from his point of view. So along with telling him how you’ve been feeling, ask him how he feels. Ask him to tell you how he sees the story of what’s happened over all these years. Get a conversation going. Maybe you two can come to understand each other. Kathy Griffin's Estranged Husband Asks for Spousal Support After She Hired Private Investigator amid Divorce

In December, PEOPLE confirmed that the comedian had filed for divorce after four years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split

Kathy Griffin ’s estranged husband Randy Bick has responded to the comedian’s petition for divorce after she hired a private investigator to locate him.

In the court filing obtained by PEOPLE, Bick requested spousal support and attorney’s fees be covered by Griffin in accordance with the former couple’s prenuptial agreement. 

The legal response comes after Griffin, 63, revealed in court documents obtained by PEOPLE that she has been unable to serve Bick with divorce papers because his whereabouts remain unknown.

Since leaving their shared home at Griffin's request, Bick has "not been in contact with her" or shared where he is "residing or staying." Despite her efforts in hiring a private investigator to track him down, the documents claimed that "this too has been unsuccessful."

"[Griffin] will make further attempts to locate [Bick] and will now take steps to enter his default," the brief continued.

In December, PEOPLE confirmed that the Suddenly Susan star had filed for divorce after four years of marriage and cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.

Per documents obtained by PEOPLE, Griffin listed their date of separation as Dec. 22, 2023 and requested that the court terminate spousal support for both parties. She also asked that the court enforce a prenuptial agreement they put into place on Dec. 23, 2019.

Griffin and Bick began dating in 2011 and briefly split in 2018 before getting back together and getting married in January 2020. 

Upon celebrating her first Valentine's Day since her separation from Bick, the actress shared a pointed message on X (formerly known as Twitter) .

“I’m getting divorced. F--- Valentine’s Day and f--- all of you. Did I say that? Thank God I have three shows this weekend,” she said, referring to her My Life on the PTSD-List tour. “I’m going to make every member of the audience my personal Valentine regardless of sexual orientation.”

Griffin also shared photos of herself running down the aisle of a plane while wearing a white lace bra on Instagram . “This is my Valentine’s Day mood board 😘 Gurrrl down!!!” she captioned the post.

She shared the same photos on X with the caption, “My Valentines Day plans.”

For many years, the most-complained-about cover of the British satirical magazine Private Eye was the one it published in the week after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997. At the time, many people in Britain were loudly revolted by the tabloid newspapers that had hounded Diana after her divorce from Charles, and by the paparazzi whose quest for profitable pictures of the princess ended in an underpass in Paris.

Under the headline “Media to Blame,” the Eye cover carried a photograph of a crowd outside Buckingham Palace, with three speech bubbles. The first was: “The papers are a disgrace.” The next two said: “Yeah, I couldn’t get one anywhere” and “Borrow mine, it’s got a picture of the car.” People were furious. Sacks of angry, defensive mail arrived for days afterward, and several outlets withdrew the magazine from sale. (I am an Eye contributor, and these events have passed into office legend.) But with the benefit of hindsight, the implication was accurate: Intruding on the private lives of the royals is close to a British tradition. We Britons might have the occasional fit of remorse, but that doesn’t stop us. And now, because of the internet, everyone else can join in too.

That cover instantly sprang to mind when, earlier today, the current Princess of Wales announced that she has cancer. In a video recorded on Wednesday in Windsor, the former Kate Middleton outlined her diagnosis in order to put an end to weeks of speculation, largely incubated online but amplified and echoed by mainstream media outlets, about the state of her health and marriage.

Kate has effectively been bullied into this statement, because the alternative—a wildfire of gossip and conspiracy theories—was worse. So please, let’s not immediately switch into maudlin recriminations about how this happened. It happened because people felt they had the right to know Kate’s private medical information. The culprits may include three staff members at the London hospital that treated her, who have been accused of accessing her medical records, perhaps driven by the same curiosity that has lit up my WhatsApp inbox for weeks. Everyone hates the tabloid papers, until they become them.

In her statement, Kate said that after her abdominal surgery earlier in the year, which the press was told at the time was “planned”—a word designed to minimize its seriousness—later tests revealed an unspecified cancer. She is now undergoing “preventative chemotherapy,” but has not revealed the progression of the disease, or her exact prognosis. “I am well,” she said, promising that she is getting stronger every day. “I hope you will understand that as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.”

This news will surely make many people feel bad. The massive online guessing game about the reasons for Kate’s invisibility seems far less fun now. Stephen Colbert’s “spilling the tea” monologue , which declared open season on the princess’s marriage, should probably be quietly interred somewhere. The sad simplicity of today’s statement, filmed on a bench with Kate in casual jeans and a striped sweater, certainly gave me pause. She mentioned the difficulty of having to “process” the news, as well as explaining her condition to her three young children in terms they could understand. The reference to the importance of “having William by my side” was pointed, given how much of the speculation has gleefully dwelt on the possibility that she was leaving him or vice versa.

However, the statement also reveals that the online commentators who suggested that the royal household was keeping something from the public weren’t entirely wrong. Kate’s condition was described as noncancerous when her break from public life was announced in late January . The updated diagnosis appears to have been delivered in February, around the time her husband, Prince William, abruptly pulled out of speaking at a memorial service for the former king of Greece. Today’s statement represents a failure of Kensington Palace to control the narrative: first, by publishing a photograph of Kate and her children that was so obviously edited that photo agencies retracted it, and second, by giving its implicit permission for the publication of a grainy video of the couple shopping in Windsor over the weekend. Neither of those decisions quenched the inferno raging online—in fact, they fed it.

Some will say that Kate has finally done what she should have done much earlier: directly address the rumors in an official video, rather than drip-feed images that raised more questions than they answered. King Charles III has taken a different approach to his own (also unspecified) cancer, allowing footage to be filmed of him working from home. But then again, Kate has cancer at 42, is having chemo, and has three young children. Do you really have it in you to grade her media strategy and find it wanting?

Ironically, Britain’s tabloid papers have shown remarkable restraint; as I wrote earlier this month , they declined to publish the first paparazzi pictures of Kate taken after her withdrawal from public life. They have weighted their decisions toward respect and dignity—more so than the Meghan stans, royal tea-spillers, and KateGate theorists, who have generated such an unstoppable wave of interest in this story that its final destination was a woman with cancer being forced to reveal her diagnosis. If you ever wanted proof that the “mainstream media” are less powerful than ever before, this video of Kate Middleton sitting on a bench is it.

Russia establishes special site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600

A special production site to fabricate fuel for China’s CFR-600 fast reactor under construction has been established at Russia’s Mashinostroitelny Zavod (MSZ - Machine-Building Plant) in Elektrostal (Moscow region), part of Rosatom’s TVEL Fuel Company. 

As part of the project, MSZ had upgraded existing facilities fo the production of fuel for fast reactors, TVEL said on 3 March. Unique equipment has been created and installed, and dummy CFR-600 fuel assemblies have already been manufactured for testing.

The new production site was set up to service an export contract between TVEL and the Chinese company CNLY (part of China National Nuclear Corporation - CNNC) for the supply of uranium fuel for CFR-600 reactors. Construction of the first CFR-600 unit started in Xiapu County, in China's Fujian province in late 2017 followed by the second unit in December 2020. The contract is for the start-up fuel load, as well as refuelling for the first seven years. The start of deliveries is scheduled for 2023.

“The Russian nuclear industry has a unique 40 years of experience in operating fast reactors, as well as in the production of fuel for such facilities,” said TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova. “The Fuel Division of Rosatom is fulfilling its obligations within the framework of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the development of fast reactor technologies. These are unique projects when foreign design fuel is produced in Russia. Since 2010, the first Chinese fast neutron reactor CEFR has been operating on fuel manufactured at the Machine-Building Plant, and for the supply of CFR-600 fuel, a team of specialists from MSZ and TVEL has successfully completed a complex high-tech project to modernise production,” she explained.

A special feature of the new section is its versatility: this equipment will be used to produce fuel intended for both the Chinese CFR-600 and CEFR reactors and the Russian BN-600 reactor of the Beloyarsk NPP. In the near future, the production of standard products for the BN-600 will begin.

The contract for the supply of fuel for the CFR-600 was signed in December 2018 as part of a governmental agreement between Russia and China on cooperation in the construction and operation of a demonstration fast neutron reactor in China. This is part of a wider comprehensive programme of cooperation in the nuclear energy sector over the coming decades. This includes serial construction of the latest Russian NPP power units with generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors at two sites in China (Tianwan and Xudabao NPPs). A package of intergovernmental documents and framework contracts for these projects was signed in 2018 during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Selling Sunset 's Chelsea Lazkani has hit her husband Jeff Lazkani with divorce papers over fears that he was "unfaithful," RadarOnline.com has learned.

"Chelsea believes Jeff was unfaithful in their marriage and that is why she filed for divorce," a source told Us Weekly . "The divorce has been looming for weeks now and she decided to abruptly file. She is completely devastated right now and is especially upset for her the sake of their children."

The insider added that Lazkani thinks the affair "had been going on for months" before she decided to file for divorce.

"She had suspected the cheating for a while and wanted to catch him in the act before filing," they continued. "She finally had enough and decided to file this week, but it was a long time coming. She is still in the house with their kids. She wants him to stay out of the house, and they are not on speaking terms."

Lazkani, 31, filed for divorce this week after seven years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences."

The reality star requested spousal support and joint physical and legal custody of their son Maddox , 5, and daughter Melia , 3.

The estranged couple met on Tinder in 2015 after Lazkani moved to Los Angeles from her native London. They tied the knot two years later.

"We spoke about 15 times before getting together," she told The Daily Mail in 2022. "I don’t want to waste my time and give my energy to somebody if I don’t think it will be worth it. I felt like I knew him before we even met and the connection was immediate."

Chelsea also credited Jeff for helping her join the Selling Sunset cast in Season 5 by introducing her to The Oppenheim Group real estate agency founder Jason Oppenheim .

"So, I got my real estate license in 2017. In my first year, I sold [properties worth] just under $10 million, and then I had my son and my daughter. After that, I wanted to hang my license at another brokerage and I was looking to be part of The Oppenheim Group," she explained to Vogue .

"I knew Jason through my husband and I said to him, 'What do I have to do?' You kind of see how it played out on screen. I wasn't sure whether I was going to get in or not."

Lazkani's fellow Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn has also made headlines with her recent marital troubles.

Quinn's husband Christian Dumontet was arrested earlier this month for allegedly throwing a bag full of glass at her during an argument and accidentally hitting their 2-year-old son instead.

He was arrested again after allegedly violating an emergency protective order by returning to their Hollywood Hills home.

Dumontet has denied the allegations against him and filed for a restraining order against Quinn.

She has also asked for a temporary restraining order against him, claiming that he is " verbally and physically abusive " and that his "mental health and behavior has severely deteriorated over the last six months.
