The scholarship supports international students pursuing a Doctoral degree at Khalifa University. Scholarship eligibility is assessed as part of the admission process and applicants are not required to submit a separate scholarship application. The number of available scholarship slots is limited. All applicants are evaluated and mapped to a specific scholarship Tier on the basis of academic merit, research potential and other relevant factors, in line with Khalifa University’s strategic priorities, rules and regulations. Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a scholarship award.

Research Path (with work commitment)

Scholarship offered to full-time PhD students only. Students are reassessed for scholarship eligibility annually.

Tier I (Full-Time only)

• Full coverage of tuition fees.
• Basic monthly stipend of 20,000 AED.
• Additional monthly allowance of 20,000 AED, subject to approval and meeting scholarship progression criteria.
• Textbooks provided by the University.
• Support to attend international research conferences, subject to approval.
• Medical insurance coverage for full-time international students sponsored by Khalifa University.
• Mobilization and demobilization flights for full-time overseas international students.
• Coverage of UAE visa application fees for full-time international students.
• Commitment to work with Khalifa University or a nominated entity upon graduation for a period equivalent to the period of study. The University reserves the right for any reason not to offer the student a post after graduation.

Tier II (Full-Time only)

• Additional monthly allowance of 10,000 AED, subject to approval and meeting scholarship progression criteria.

Tier III (Full-Time only)

• 75% waiver of tuition fees.
• Monthly stipend of 20,000 AED.

Tier IV (Full-Time only)

• 50% waiver of tuition fees.
• Free University accommodation for eligible full-time students only.

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Background and Objective In 1999, The American University in Dubai announced the creation of scholarships that carry Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s name, citing how His Highness’ gesture reflects a deep commitment to education as the driving force in the accomplishment of Dubai’s and the U.A.E.’s public agenda. The Scholarship has been conceived with the objective of rewarding academic excellence and responding to financial need. Eligibility • High school applicants should have at least a 90% grade average (or equivalent). Financial need as demonstrated by insufficiency to fund educational expenses will also be considered. • Open to all nationalities • Open to all undergraduate programs Coverage/Renewal The Scholarship entitles the recipient to a partial/full tuition waiver subject to the approval of the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship is granted for the first academic year, and maintained until graduation provided that eligibility conditions are satisfied. Terms and Conditions apply. Background and Objective Established in the memory of the late Lebanese journalist, Gebran Tueni, The Gebran Tueni Foundation (GTF) conducts academic, cultural and social activities to empower Lebanese youth through different programs including scholarships. The foundation, in collaboration with the Mohammad Bin Rashid School for Communication at AUD, offers two Gebran Tueni Media Scholarships in the Arabic Track at an undergraduate level and entitles the recipient to a tuition waiver of 100% up until graduation (terms and conditions apply) Eligibility Applicants should be of a Lebanese nationality with excellent academic average in High School (required averages vary by school systems, students should consult AUD admissions office for pertinent requirements) In addition, applicants must: • Submit a portfolio consisting of art work, articles, other audio-visual work, or any creative work done by the applicant • Sit for a qualifying interview conducted by a member of the MBRSC Admissions Committee Coverage/Renewal The Scholarship entitles the recipient to a waiver of tuition for one academic year (two semesters [Fall and Spring]) until graduation (terms and conditions apply); it also covers dorms and visa charges (Travel and Visa regulations of students is subject to the prevailing governmental regulations and directives). Background and Objective The Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication ( MBRSC ) was established following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, at the American University in Dubai. The School was founded with the aim of attracting the brightest students from across the Arab world, those who aspire to become communicators, by providing them with solid academic training. Upon their graduation, these students are hoped to contribute to the evolution of media institutions in the Arab World and help rise with it to international standards of professionalism and quality. For the School to be able to recruit such a diverse student body from all corners of the Arab World, it is important to provide financial aid to those in need. Eligibility In order to be eligible for the Scholarship, a high school student must be an Arab National and applicant to the Arabic track of the B.C.I.S. degree program, majoring in either Digital Production and Storytelling or Journalism. High school applicants should have at least a 90% grade average (or equivalent). In addition, applicants must: • Submit a portfolio consisting of art work articles, other audio-visual work, or any creative work done by the applicant • Sit for a qualifying interview conducted by a member of the MBRSC Scholarships Committee Coverage/Renewal The scholarship entitles the recipient to a waiver of tuition for one academic year (two semesters [fall and spring]/32 credit hours) until graduation. Background and Objective The ICT Fund strives to promote a culture of entrepreneurship in the UAE ICT sector and to improve linkage between industry and academia. Additionally, it promotes the involvement of UAE nationals in the realm of scientific and technology research in order to foster self-reliance of technology creation and development in the country. Eligibility, Coverage & Renewal Eligibility: • The scholarship is only open to UAE Nationals. • New students must apply to the Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering Programs at AUD. • Candidates must have a good academic average in the secondary certificate or equivalent • Candidates must fulfill AUD's Admissions requirements. Coverage: • The Scholarship entitles the recipient to a waiver of tuition for one academic year (2 semesters) until graduation. Terms and conditions apply • The Scholarship also provides a monthly allowance. Deadline to apply Application for ICT Funds Scholarship should be submitted by July 25 th   for the fall semester and December 15 th   for the spring semester. To apply to AUD, click here Students who wish to apply for the Betha Scholarship Program (ICT Funds) should apply to AUD first, in order to get the acceptance letter required for the Scholarship application. The AUD School Partnership Initiative entitles admitted students, who are currently graduating from any of the AUD school partners, for partial tuition waivers up to 100%, based on the final grade 12 average.  To apply to AUD, click here

Khalifa University Scholarship 2024-2025 is fully funded for international students. This scholarship is available for masters and PhD studies and covers full tuition fees, medical insurance, support to attend international research conferences, and a monthly stipend of up to AED 40,000.

Please note that the number of scholarships awarded is limited and students must meet the minimum selection criteria for the relevant category in order for their application to be considered by the scholarship committee. The amount to be awarded depends on the specific criteria outlined for each scholarship.

Guiding Principles for Canadian University Dubai Scholarships

• Scholarships are open to all students of any citizenship who have met all the admission requirements.
• Scholarships are awarded to full-time students enrolled in four academic courses or more per semester. For Financial Hardship and Special Needs Scholarships, the number of academic courses students must enroll in will be considered on a case-by-case basis, although, where possible, a minimum of four academic courses is recommended. Please note that scholarships can be granted for credit-bearing courses only.
• Students must maintain the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) necessary in order to continue receiving scholarship funding. The specific CGPA requirements vary according to the type of scholarship applied for. These details are outlined in the specific scholarship descriptions.
• Scholarships are not valid for summer semesters.
• Scholarships are only valid for current tuition fees.
• Students can apply for more than one scholarship, provided they meet the eligibility requirements. In case a student qualifies for more than one reduction, scholarship or discount, the student will be given the chance to choose the scholarship with the highest value.
• All remaining fees (tuition and housing) must be paid promptly in order to receive and maintain the scholarship.

Please note the following condition:

Scholarship recipients or those who qualify for a reduction in the cost of tuition may not appeal the decision of the University, or the percentage or amount of reduction assigned. The decision to grant or deny a reduction in cost is final.

Application Deadlines

• The scholarship application deadline for the fall semester is July 7 th .
• The scholarship application deadline for the spring semester is December 20 th .
• Please note that late or incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered by the scholarship committee.
• Applicants must email their scholarship application forms (or visit the scholarship section of Student Affairs), along with all supporting documents (as detailed in the relevant sections of the different scholarship types) to [email protected]

Overall Terms and Conditions

• To be considered eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, students need to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
• Scholarships awarded for the fall semester are valid for one year, provided that the CGPA is maintained as per the information below and provided the student registers for at least 12 credit hours per semester.
• Scholarships awarded for the spring semester are valid for one semester only.
• Deadlines for the fall semester (July 7 th ) and spring semester (December 20 th ) must be met.
• Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters.
• Applicants must email their scholarship application forms along with all supporting documentation to [email protected] by July 7 th  (fall intake) or December 20th (spring intake).
• Late or incomplete scholarship applications will not be considered by the scholarship committee

Academic Excellence Scholarship Allocations

50% tuition waiver.

High school students need to have attained an academic average of 99%* or above to apply for a 50% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be 3.98 or higher to continue receiving a 50% tuition waiver.

40% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 95 – 98.9%* to apply for a 40% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.95 – 3.97 to continue receiving a 40% tuition waiver.

30% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 90 – 94.9%* to apply for a 30% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.9 – 3.94 to continue receiving a 30% tuition waiver.

20% tuition waiver

High school students need to have attained an academic average of between 85 – 89.9%* to apply for a 20% tuition waiver.

For current CUD students renewing their scholarship, the semester CGPA at the conclusion of the semester must be between 3.85 – 3.89 to continue receiving a 20% tuition waiver.

10% tuition waiver (returning students only)

High school students who were granted an automatic 20% tuition waiver for their first semester at CUD and have maintained a 3.8 – 3.84 CGPA, may be eligible for a 10% tuition waiver on the subsequent semester.

* UAE Secondary School Certificate or equivalent

The Guiding Principles for Canadian University Dubai scholarships must be met.

This scholarship is meant for elite and talented athletes from any sport who have competed and achieved success at least at a city level. Sports Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s sports achievement level and their academic performance. A tuition waiver of up to 40% can be applied accordingly.

• Sports Scholarships are valid for one semester only.

• Sports Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters.
• For high school applicants to be eligible, they must have a minimum academic achievement of 70%.
• Returning students are required to achieve a minimum of a 3.0 CGPA to be eligible to apply/ reapply for the Sports Scholarship.
• Successful applicants will be required to support the sports department in different events and will be required to contribute up to 15 hours per month of community service as part of their commitment to the University.

The objective of these scholarships is to promote access to higher education to students facing financial hardship. A tuition waiver of up-to 40% can be applied as evaluated on a case-by-case basis

• Financial Hardship Scholarships are valid for one semester only.
• Financial Hardship Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters
• For high school applicants to be eligible, they must have a minimum academic achievement of 75%.
• Returning students are required to achieve a minimum of a 2.8 CGPA to be eligible to apply/ reapply for the Financial Hardship Scholarship.
• Successful applicants will be required to contribute up to 15 hours per month of community service as part of their commitment to the University.

All documentation will be kept confidential. Any application with incomplete documentation cannot be considered by the scholarship committee when awarding the Financial Hardship Scholarships. The Guiding Principles for Canadian University Dubai scholarships must be met.

Special Talent Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s achievement level and their academic performance. A tuition waiver of up to 40% can be applied accordingly.

Fall 2024-25 New student - 10% Study Scholarship (T&C)

• Students must register for a minimum of four courses or 12 credit hours in the Fall 2024-25 semester.
• Students should pay a minimum of 60% first semester value before registering for the courses (which includes AED 2,500 tuition deposit, non-refundable but adjustable and is part of Fall 2024-25 semester tuition fees).
• Students must pay the total semester fees in full by Tuesday, April 30th, 2024.
• Students can combine the offer with other applicable fee reductions and merit scholarships, excluding the MOU FLAT tuition fee reduction. (The maximum fee reduction capped in the Fall 2024-25 semester will be 60%)
• Fee reduction is applicable towards the credit courses only and is not applicable on non-credit courses and incidental fees.

Summer 2023-24 - 10% Study Scholarship (T&C)

• Students must register for a minimum of two courses or 06 credit hours in the Summer 2023-24 semester.
• Students should pay a minimum of AED2,500 tuition deposit before registering for the courses (non-refundable but adjustable and is part of Summer 2023-24 semester tuition fees).
• Students must pay the total semester fees in full by Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 .
• Students can combine the offer with other applicable tuition fee reductions, excluding the MOU FLAT tuition fee reduction. (The maximum fee reduction capped in the Summer 2023-24 semester will be 30%).
• Fee reduction is applicable towards the credit courses only and is not applicable to non-credit courses and incidental fees.
