CPAC Research Assistant – Canada Summer Jobs

Job Description:

CPAC Institute is hiring a summer student to assist in a public policy research project.  

• Graduate degree (completed or in progress) in sociology, public policy, public health, education, or other social science fields. Undergraduate students will not be considered.

Experience:

• Has conducted qualitative research
• Has analyzed interview data
• Has published and/or submitted academic or professional papers, research reports, policy recommendations or articles.

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

• Deep understanding of qualitative research methods, including data analysis approaches (such as thematic analysis, or grounded theory)
• Proficiency in analyzing interview data and other qualitative data sources
• Strong analytical, conceptualization and report writing abilities, able to craft clear, cohesive and compelling narratives
• Excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to process information with a high level of accuracy
• Knowledge of major societal issues
• Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

• Conduct literature surveys on topics related to the research project
• Conduct qualitative data collection and analysis
• Draft a research report
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Employment Detail:

• Temporary, full-time (8-week contract)
• Number of hours per week requested: 35
• Hourly wage: $17
• Hybrid and remote work options available

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the applicant must be:

• between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
• a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27] *; and
• legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
