Archdiocese announces new priest assignments

June 13, 2022

Two priests of the archdiocese retire this year as two more are ordained and begin their parish service; 17 more take on new or expanded assignments, while one priest from Tanzania returns to his homeland and another begins service in the Omaha archdiocese. Also, a new vocations director is named.

These are some of the changes taking place this year as the archdiocese announces the new priest assignments, which become effective July 1 unless noted otherwise. They are listed below.

June 2022: Clergy Assignments

Bishop Johnston has made the following clergy assignments. 

Clergy assignments effective before July 1, 2022 include:

Deacon Tyrone Gutierrez concluded his assignment at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish on April 30, and has been assigned to Holy Spirit Parish, Lee’s Summit where he is assisting the Pastor, effective May 1.

Reverend Mr. Mark Famuliner , ordained to the transitional diaconate on May 28, has been assigned to assist at St. Therese Parish (North), Kansas City as his seminary studies allow, effective June 15.

Assignments which conclude June 30 and begin July 1, 2022: 

Deacon Douglas Hemke concludes his assignment at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Blue Springs and is assigned to St. James Parish, St. Joseph and will assist the pastor.

Deacon Paul Muller is assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Harrisonville and will assist the pastor. He retains his current assignments at St. Margaret Parish, Lee’s Summit and as Diaconate Director.

Deacon John Purk, SOLT concludes his assignment at St. Louis Parish, Kansas City, and has been appointed to Guardian Angels Parish, Kansas City and will assist the Parochial Administrator.

Deacon David Rennicke has been assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Harrisonville and will assist the pastor in liturgical ministry. He retains his current assignment at St. Margaret Parish, Lee’s Summit.

Deacon Larry West concludes his assignment at St. Gabriel Parish, Kansas City and is assigned to St. Patrick Parish, Kansas City and will assist the pastor.

Consequent to their ordination to the permanent diaconate on June 18, the following clergy assignments begin July 1, 2022: 

Joseph Arnone has been assigned to Nativity of Mary Parish, Independence and St. Bernadette Parish, Kansas City and will assist the pastor. He will also assist as deacon at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School in celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, other times of public prayer and in service of the Christian community life there.

Michael Casteel has been assigned to St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish, Maryville and will assist the pastor.

Juan Garcia has been assigned to St. Mark Parish, Independence and St. Anthony Parish, Kansas City and will assist the pastors.

James Hall has been assigned to Twelve Apostles Parish, Platte City and Holy Trinity Parish, Weston and will assist the pastor.

Randall Holtman has been assigned to St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish, Maryville, St. Rose of Lima Parish, Savannah and St. Patrick Mission, Forest City and will assist the pastors.

Richard Isaacks has been assigned to St. John LaLande Parish, Blue Springs and will assist the pastor.

Carl Johnson has been assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Joseph and will assist the pastor.

Julio Lara has been assigned to St. Anthony Parish and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City and will assist the pastors. His appointment as Director of the Diocesan Tribunal will also continue.

Corey Morgan has been assigned to St. Bridget Parish, Pleasant Hill and St. Patrick Parish, Holden and will assist the pastor.

Mark Nold has been assigned to St. Munchin Parish, Cameron and St. Aloysius Mission, Maysville and will assist the pastor.

Juan Rodriguez has been assigned to Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Parish, Kansas City and will assist the parochial administrator.

Raymundo Sanchez has been appointed to Our Lady of Peace Parish, Kansas City and will assist the parochial administrator.

Jordan Schiele has been assigned to St. Anthony Parish, Kansas City and will assist the pastor.

Rick Schwind has been assigned to Church of the Good Shepherd Parish, Smithville and will assist the pastor.

Dave Talken has been assigned to Our Lady of the Presentation Parish, Lee’s Summit and will assist the pastor.

Sergio Ulloa has been appointed to Holy Cross Parish, Kansas City and will assist the parochial administrator.

Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., announced the following appointments: 

Reverend Bryan F.J. Adamcik has been appointed Pastor of Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Leonia, effective immediately and ending on July 1, 2027.

Reverend Marty B. Jacinto has been granted a second term to his pastorate at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Jersey City, ending July 1, 2027.
