Hyderabad: Founder and chairman of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions Dr Boppana Satyanarayana Rao (76) passed away due to illness on Thursday, in Hyderabad. Rao’s last rites will be held in Vijayawada on July 14.

Many politicians and students sent their condolences to the eminent educationist who was running the Chaitanya group of institutions for the last 40 years.

In 1986, after practising medicine in the UK and Iran for 16 years, Rao and his wife Dr Jhansi Lakshmi Bai Boppana returned to India to start the first Sri Chaitanya school in Vijayawada. His daughters Seema and Sushma also moved to India from the US, to help their father.

According to Rao, the inception of Sri Chaitanya was the outcome of a long-cherished dream. He had observed that students especially girl children from rural Andhra Pradesh had limited access to professional education because of a lack of awareness or resources, one of the reasons that made him start the initiative to address this lacuna by establishing the first Sri Chaitanya Girls Junior College, 37 years ago.

After establishing a boys’ junior college in Hyderabad in 1991, Rao launched several junior colleges (Classes XI-XII) in other towns in then unified Andhra Pradesh. Currently, there are 321 state board-affiliated junior colleges and 322 K-10 Sri Chaitanya Techno Schools in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In addition, he has established 107 CBSE-affiliated Chaitanya schools in other states.

Sources said Rao had recently undergone brain surgery.

Founder of Sri Chaitanya Group, 75, dies

HYDERABAD: Dr B.S. Rao would have been yet another medical professional who returned home after a successful stint in England and Iran. However, his initiative in the field of Intermediate education, way back in 1986, made his ‘Sri Chaitanya’ group of educational institutions a household name for Telugus and beyond over the last few decades, helping millions of students realise their dream of becoming doctors and engineers.

On Thursday, these millions of achievers and aspirants were in for a shock, upon hearing about the sad demise of Rao. An ever-smiling and soft-spoken person fondly referred to as “doctor garu”, Rao breathed his last after suffering a massive heart attack in the afternoon at his residence in Jubilee Hills. He was rushed to a corporate hospital but did not survive.

Rao was 75 and is survived by his wife Jhansi and two daughters, Sushma and Seema. His body was shifted to his native place Tadigadapa, on the outskirts of Vijayawada.

According to family members, one of his daughters is currently abroad and the last rites will be performed after her return.

“Rao devoted his life to offering accessible and excellent education to children,” said former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a condolence message on Twitter.

What started as Sri Chaitanya Girls Junior College in Vijayawada in 1986 and Boys College in 1991 in Hyderabad have now gradually metamorphosed into a mega coaching platform, which currently has 321 junior colleges and almost an equal number of techno schools, besides 107 CBSE-affiliated schools, with a student strength of 13 lakhs.

The gruelling coaching hours and fierce competition with rivals left a few black marks, but the testimonials of thousands of rankers establish that the Rao couple’s greatest contribution to the Telugus was instilling confidence — particularly among the poor children of sweepers, street vendors, office peons, security guards and small-time drivers — that they too can cherish a dream and realise it.

“He led a simple life and never liked luxury. All that the couple earned has been invested back into imparting education only. He boldly faced the odds,” said K. Narasimha Rao, a close associate of Rao and managing director of EyeAds.

Perhaps he was deeply contended with his efforts in helping the group achieve a rare fete of three of its students, B. Varun Chakravarthi, S. Venkata Koundinya and V. Chidvilas Reddy score the first rank in the open category this year's NEET, JEE-Mains and JEE Advanced, respectively, over the past few months.

The growth of SCGI since then has been tremendous. Sri Chaitanya founder BS Rao dies from heart attack

He established sri chaitanya educational institutions in 1986..

The founder and Chairman of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, Dr Bopanna Satyanarayana Rao died on Thursday at his Jubilee Hills residence, Tv9 Telugu reported.

He reportedly slipped and fell in his bathroom after suffering from a heart attack and was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospital by his family members. However, the doctors confirmed that he was dead.

His last rites will be held in Vijayawada tomorrow.

He established Sri Chaitanya  in 1986 as a  junior college for girls in Vijayawada and expanded the franchise. Currently, there are 321 junior colleges, 322 techno schools and 107 CBSE schools across the country and about 8.5 lakh students are studying in Sri Chaitanya schools and colleges.

The Chairman of Sri Chaitanya Institutions Dr. BS Rao died of an illness in Hyderabad. His mortal remains will be transported to Vijayawada soon, where his last rites will be conducted tomorrow.

Dr. BS Rao was a prominent figure in the field of education and made significant contributions. In 1986, he established Sri Chaitanya Vidyasasansthal, which has grown to become a well-known educational institution.

It is a loss for the education community, and Dr. Rao's contributions will be remembered and valued. The political fraternity and renowned people from education sector are expressing condolences to bereaved family.

HYDERABAD: Dr Boppana Satyanarayana Rao (76), founder and chairman of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions, died due to age-related complications in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Rao’s last rites would be held in Vijayawada on July 14,2023, according to his family members. Condolences poured in for the family members of BS Rao from many politicians and students. Taking to Twitter, TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his heartfelt condolences to the eminent educationist.

In 1986, after practicing medicine in the United Kingdom (UK) and Iran for 16 years, Rao and his wife Dr Jhansi Lakshmi Bai returned to India to start the first Sri Chaitanya Girls Junior College in Vijayawada. He had established as many as 321 state board-affiliated junior colleges and around 322 K-10 Sri Chaitanya Techno Schools in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In addition, Rao had also established 107 CBSE-affiliated Chaitanya schools in other states.

Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar was an Indian scholar , true nationalist, social reformer, supporter of equality and justice, a significant architect of the constitution of India, and a mass leader . He was subjected to discrimination at school in his childhood because he belonged to a backward caste according to the then-prevalent caste system, but he worked hard to fight all odds. Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891, in a village in Madhya Pradesh. He was born into a low caste, which was considered untouchable. He was the 14th child of his parents. In his childhood, he took a deep interest in studies. He was the law minister of independent India and fought all his life for the rights of the backward castes. He wrote the Constitution of India in Hindi. Dr Ambedkar received the Bharat Ratna Award in 1990. He died in Dec 1956. We can see that many statues are built in his memory all over the country.

Education | Ambedkar was an exceptional student who excelled in his studies. Hetook admission in Bombay University, after which he completed his PhD in Economics and Political Science at Columbia University, United States.

Political Career | Dr B. R Ambedkar served as the first Indian Law Minister and led the committee that drafted the Indian constitution, which is why he is called the "Father of the Indian Constitution". He was also known as Babasaheb because, for many, he was like a father.

Causes He Fought For | Dr Ambedkar fiercely fought for the fundamental rights of those perceived as belonging to lower castes. He extensively promoted education and advocated equality for everyone. He believed no man or woman should be seen as 'untouchable'.

Honours | Dr Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1990 for his contribution to India. Today, he is remembered for his good deeds and welfare. Dr Ambedkar is an inspiration for the youth of today. "Life should be wonderful rather than long," is Ambedkar's slogan. He was the reformer who brought about widespread education in India.

People hold Dr B. R. Ambedkar up as an example of equality. The nation's constitution drafting benefited greatly from Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar's contributions. He fought for the prohibition of discrimination against untouchables or members of lower castes from promoting equality among his fellow citizens. Parents | In the hamlet of Mhow in the Madhya Pradesh district of Indore, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was born on April 14, 1891. His father, Ramji Sakpal, served the nation in the Indian Army. He earned the rank of Subedar in the Army because of his hard work. Bhima bai was the name of his mother. Ramji instilled a love of learning in Bhimrao Ambedkar at a young age by encouraging his kids to work hard and study from the start.

Experience Of Discrimination | Ambedkar belonged to a lower caste according to the then prevalent caste system and deprived of equal opportunities. However, his early education was made possible, thanks to the government's operation of a particular school for the kids of all army personnel. Despite being a good student, he and the other lower caste kids with him sat outside of the class or in a corner. However, Bhimrao Ambedkar was the only member of his family to reject societal prejudice to pursue higher education successfully.

High School | Ambedkar enrolled at Mumbai's high school, becoming the institution's first lower-caste student to do so. He completed his high school diploma in 1907. Since graduating from high school was a significant deal at the time, and it was terrific to have someone from their community do it, this success sent a wave of joy across his caste.

Higher Studies | Bhimrao Ambedkar then broke all academic records by earning a Political Science and Economics degree in 1912. He moved to America in 1913 to pursue postgraduate studies, and from Columbia University there; he earned an M.A. in 1915. The following year, he received a PhD for one of his studies.

Earning A Doctorate | His book Evolution of Provincial Finance in British India was released in 1916. With his doctorate in hand, B.R. Ambedkar travelled to London in 1916 to study law at the London School of Economics and to pursue his doctorate in Economics.The University conferred on him the title of Doctor of Science.

Political Career

B.R Ambedkar continued to give back to society after completing his education. He participated in numerous movements for India's independence, wrote multiple publications supporting Dalits' social liberation, and helped lead India to freedom. He was elected to the Mumbai Legislative Council in 1926. Ambedkar began his two-year tenure as the Government Law College's principal on October 13, 1935. He was appointed chairman of the drafting committee of the Indian constitution.
