Lock rooms and showers are available only to pool users. Fitness Center users should arrive dressed to exercise. Clean plastic tubs are available for personal belongings such as keys, phones, etc.

Center for Healthy Living

Memberships, intramural sports & special events and fitness classes are available to all UNMC & Nebraska Medicine faculty, staff, students, retirees, alumni, volunteers, contracted employees & affiliated organizations. UNMC’s Engage Wellness is Omaha’s only medical fitness and whole-person wellness program for adults  affiliated with a leading academic health sciences center. Community fitness is an excellent option for people with the following conditions:

  • Bariatric patients: pre- and post-surgery or as an alternative to surgery
  • Cancer patients: We have a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist on staff
  • Chronic conditions
  • Orthopedic conditions
  • Cardiac or pulmonary conditions should contact the  Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center

Cost  Information

$50 per month- standard membership

Monthly discounts are available on the  standard membership for retired UT  Medical Center employees, current UT  Medical Center Volunteers, and for  couples joining together.

How to Get Started

  • Contact the Fitness Staff
  • Medical clearance will be obtained from your physician if you are over 45 years of age or have a medical condition.
  • Once your medical clearance form is received, the Fitness Staff will contact you to set up your Fitness Evaluation.
  • 1-hour Fitness Evaluation: our Exercise Specialists will review your health history & goals, and design your personalized exercise program. We will show you how to use the equipment properly. This evaluation is included in your first month’s dues or can be scheduled as a separate appointment without joining the fitness center, for a separate fee.

Through our facility you can enjoy fitness in a non-competitive and friendly atmosphere with no enrollment fee or contract.   • Free fitness programs are taught via Zoom and in person by Landon Center on Aging staff
  • Online participants can join Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with a tablet, smartphone, or home computer

Fitness Programs

Russell Medical’s exercise specialists can provide a health and wellness plan designed to meet the fitness needs of each individual. Trained in combating the effects of aging and many chronic diseases, these highly qualified professionals will combine the patient’s goals with the latest in exercise science to enhance, improve and maintain the quality of life we all desire.

Monthly Membership Fees

Individual membership per month                     $40 Spouse/dependant membership per month     $30

*Membership fee includes access to our gym and all group activity classes.  Must be 15 years of age or older to become a member.

Additional Services

Personal Training per hour session                $40 Personal Training per half hour session        $25

Hours of Operation

Monday-Thursday                  6:00am – 6:00pm Friday                                        6:00am – 4:30pm

As a member, you will have access to lockers for daily use, showers, free towel service, hair dryers, swimsuit dryers, and personalized exercise programs based on your goals.

Group Activity Classes

We offer a variety of land aerobics classes Monday-Friday.  Please see our land aerobics calendar (linked below) for a complete listing of our scheduled class times. 

Payment Options

We offer an easy payment plan through a monthly bank or credit card draft.  There are no contracts or enrollment fees.  You may freeze your account with appropriate notice.
