Solo Movie Review
Behind The Movie Solo: Young hero Nara Rohit, Nisha Agarwal, Music Director Mani Sharma and Director Parasuram raised fair amount ofinterest on this film. With good pre release talk, Solo arrived today in theatres and let is see how far Rohit succeeded in commercial format?
In the Movie Solo: Goutham (Nara Rohit) is born as an orphan and brought up with no one of his own. His only aim in life is to marry a girl from joint family and enjoy the emotional relations of being a member in big family. Goutham soon finds his girl in the form Post Graduate Orthopedic Doctor Vyshnavi (Nisha Agarwal), daughter of Raghupathi Naidu (Prakash Raj) who has a big family in Bobbili.
Goutham along with his friends get on to the duty of wooing the girl. Though initially reluctant, Vyshnavi falls in love for sincerity and simplicity in Goutham. Thus comes hurdle in form of Raghupathi Naidu who doesn’t want to get his daughter married to an orphan because of painful experiences seen in the life of his sister (Jayasudha).
Now, Goutham too sacrifices/refuses to marry Vyshnavi without her family approval because what he wants is bonding of a joint family. Around the same time, Raghupathi Naidu fixes her daughter’s wedding with London based Doctor (Sayaji Shinde) family, who keeps a condition on physical presence of Goutham during the entire marriage event. What kind of problems raised in this love story from then on…how and when did Raghupathi Naidu realize the sincerity in Goutham forms the climax?
Values of the Movie Solo: Story and concept developed by Parasuram is pivoted only upon hero Nara Rohit. Screenplay that looked slightly different in first half has gone logically missing the sync in second half. Major strength in film is dialogues which tried to keep the feel alive in entire second half family drama. Direction wise Parasuram could not bring any solid, riveting performances from hero and heroine. Cinematography by Dasarathi Shivendra is good work while Mani Sharma’s music is regular in background and good with new tunes for a couple of songs. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh could not sustain the patience of audience in second half. Production values of Vamsi Krishna Srinivas and SVK Cinema are over all good.
Performance wise Nara Rohit has shown wide differentiation from his first flick ‘Banam.’ He tried dances, comedy punches, overdosed sentiment and even action scenes. Yet, he needs to go a long way in order to evolve as a professional artist. Basically, his body language and face expressions are far below the required standards. Nisha Agarwal is neither a glam doll nor a performer. Director cleverly managed of skipping her face from the main frame in key scenes. Although Prakashraj and Jayasudha are restricted to clichéd roles yet they served a big relief. Comedy by Ali, Sayaji Shinde, Srinivas Reddy, Swapnika is good.
Out of the Movie Solo: Major draw back for ‘Solo’ begins only in second half because first half was more or less dealt with romantic comedy track along with establishment of hero’s character. Movie traverses to over dramatic family sentiment in second half from a time pass entertainer in first half. This is where director missed the logic by subsiding his hero. Parasuram has only a tiny point at his disposal which made him fill second half with unnecessary and unsuccessful episodes. True that, film picks up slightly by climax with fervid dialogues from Rohit, Nisha, Prakashraj and Jayasudha but it was high time by then on.
Openly speaking, poor performances from lead cast followed by unconvincing elements in second half made ‘Solo’ fall back only on seniors like Prakashraj and Jayasudha. Definitely, ‘Solo’ has many shades of ‘Bommarillu’ and ‘Parugu’ but stands little away and far near to them. Commercial success of film depends upon how families enjoy this.
Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Solo: Not Totally Solid.

The film revolves around the Gautham an orphan who longs for the warmth and belonging of a close-knit family. When he falls in love with Vaishnavi a girl from a large and loving family, he sees his dream within reach. His dreams of a different groom for his daughter collide with Vaishnavi’s budding love. Will Gautham’s unwavering affection or Naidu’s rigid expectations win the day? Can love bridge the chasm between different worlds?

Solo Movie Review
Solo has all the right thoughts put into the paper. Sadly, the thoughts are something that looks good only on paper. It lacks the practicality and the effect to bring on screen with panache and interest. Four different stories of love styled around the four elements of nature. It is also tied with one single theme and that is Lord Shiva. All the leads of the film are also named after him – Shekhar, Trilok, Siva and Rudra – and show facets of his persona. It sounds fascinating, however, it failed to manifest properly on screen. As a result, there a coherent layer to the narrative that doesn’t really add up to the main story and ultimately producing film that is visually stunning but lacks any depth of narrative. There is no doubt that Bejoy Nambiar and his cinematographers created frames after frames that look visceral in the midst of the chaotic screenplay.
The film begins with World of Shekhar, where Dulquer Salmaan is a college student and has a stammer. He is in love with a blind girl ( Dhansika ). A love story, water is the theme of this segment. Scenes that go back and forth weave the story. After Shekhar, we come to the World of Trilok, where Dulquer is a veterinarian and air is the element. A thriller, it involves the death of a young woman (Arthi Venkatesh) and the drama that unfolds. Next is World of Shiva, where Dulquer wears the garb of an angry young man, who is setting out to take revenge. In the final one World of Rudra, where fire is the theme, the leading man is seen as an army officer and falls in love with Akshara ( Neha Sharma ).
The first story which is the World of Shekhar is easily the best of the lot in terms of writing. It is a well-rounded story and we see the evolution of the relationship between Shekhar (Dulquer Salmaan) and Radhika (Sai Dhansika). The poignant tale and the complex non-linear narrative certainly adds to the drama. As the stuttering Shekhar, Dulquer gives a great performance but it is Dhansika who catches our eye. Radhika reminds us of a Mani Rathnam heroine — beautiful, creatively inclined (she dances) feminine, but strong. The reference to Shiva is more natural here, so is the stylization around water. (Dulquer has long hair and is a musician. Like the river embraces the shore, we have a heroine who knows the language of touch).
It was a miss to not provide the World of Trilok with a little bit more screen space, but most of the film is quite an interesting film. This picture brought Bejoy Nambiar to his experimental best and playing with the four elements, novel though, was a credible attempt. However, he failed to express more with them and that became the huge drawback. Despite being individual stories, there are several motifs that unintentionally link the four stories — accidents, a pregnant woman/kids, the number four, relationships outside the realm of marriage.
Dulquer Salman fans may love the movie, for he is in every frame.

Solo movie review: This Dulquer Salmaan and Neha Sharma starrer charms the eye more than the heart
A bold attempt, bejoy nambiar-dulquer salmaan's solo works at places and fails to translate the grandeur in thought on to the screen continuously. the film is, however, visually enticing with a lot of small references painstakingly woven into the tales. here's our review..
Solo movie cast: Dulquer Salmaan, Neha Sharma, Sai Dhanshika, Sruthi Hariharan, Arthi Venkatesh Solo movie director: Bejoy Nambiar Solo movie rating: 2.5 stars
As a film, Solo looks good on paper. Four different stories of love styled around the four elements of nature. They also have a central theme, Lord Shiva. All the leads Shekhar, Trilok, Siva and Rudra are named after him and show facets of his persona. As fascinating as it might sound, not all thoughts manifest themselves on screen effectively. The result is that these ‘layers’ don’t really add to the core story thread in each chapter making Solo more of a visual experience. You have to give it to Bejoy Nambiar and his cinematographers, there isn’t one frame that doesn’t look good. On the other hand, we aren’t convinced by the events or their emotional outcomes. Despite being individual stories, there are several motifs that unintentionally link the four stories — accidents, a pregnant woman/kids, the number four, relationships outside the realm of marriage.
The first story, World of Shekhar is easily the best of the lot in terms of writing. A well-rounded story, we see the evolution of the relationship between Shekhar ( Dulquer Salmaan ) and Radhika (A beautiful Sai Dhansika). A poignant tale, the complex non-linear narrative adds to the drama. As the stuttering Shekhar, Dulquer gives a great performance but it is Dhansika who catches our eye. Ironic, considering she is blind in the movie. Radhika reminds us of a Mani Rathnam heroine — beautiful, creatively inclined (she dances) feminine, but strong. The reference to Shiva is more natural here, so is the stylisation around water. (Dulquer has long hair and is a musician. Like the river embraces the shore, we have a heroine who knows the language of touch).
The world of Trilok is an interesting premise that could have gotten more screen space. While it runs in line with the Shiva theme (Dulquer is a vet. Shiva is also known as the lord of animals), the stylisation around air is not as evident. In that aspect, World of Siva is probably the best. Visualised around fire, the chapter is literally painted red. It is tough to find a frame without a trace of red, whether it is a background artist in red or the colour of the walls. World of Siva also showcases Bejoy at his experimental best; Dulquer has just one dialogue in the entire chapter. The rage is apparent, with a Dulquer who looks like a ticking bomb. They should have named this chapter Rudra, considering the lack of rage in the World of Rudra. The weakest chapter of the lot, Rudra’s story takes a blasphemous arc — it ends up being too implausible. The arrangement also works against the movie as we walk out after its most superficial story.
Watch Bejoy Nambiar-Dulquer Salmaan film Solo’s trailer here:
To sum it up, Solo is not a movie for everyone. It is an experimental effort that ends up fascinating the eye more than it does the mind.

First half is fun and good. Second half has emotions. The director Parasuram has succeeded in setting up the stage right by the interval. The screenplay in second half is little predictable though the emotions in the climax episode are genuine. The plus points are story orientation and dialogues by Parasuram. On the flip side, a swift and unpredictable second half would have made this movie a special one. On a whole, Solo is a genuine attempt by the director and makes a decent watch if you ignore the lag in second half.

While looking at the film, this is the approach audience will have. But then, more than the concept, it is the content which surpasses all. It is supported by strong emotional graph and the stress on values of family and relationships is what scores the brownie points.Secondly, it is the dialogues which are written with sensibility and maturity.Overall, this is a film that will strike a chord with the family audience and emotionally driven mass audience. There are no idle moments and the film works as a perfect package of comedy, emotion and sentiment. At the box office, considering the budget and other factors, the film has it all to score success. Verdict: Debatable concept but commendable delivery

Solo is a solid love story. The film has a decent story and an interesting screenplay. There is some fairly good comedy in the first half. However the second half slows down considerably before reaching a predictable climax. The songs are good, the music is pleasant, the production values decent and some dialogues are effective. Solo is a decent entertainer with a good subject and looks into the merits of joint family system and also the subject of love – love between a boy and girl and the love of a father for his daughter. The film can be watched once. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Solo films first half will appeal to people who look for fun. Second half of the film is aimed at the families. The producer should immediately focus on attracting them to the theatres. As of now openings are not so great and it should pick up with positive feedback. Solo also has a threat from few biggies to hold its ground at the box office.

Review: Solo Brathuke So Better
Article by Satya B Published by GulteDesk --> Published on: 2:05 pm, 25 December 2020
2 Hr 6 Mins | Family | 25-12-2020
Cast - Sai Tej, Nabha Natesh, Rao Ramesh, Vennela Kishore, Naresh, Rajendra Prasad and others
Director - Subbu
Producer - BVSN Prasad
Banner - Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra
Music - S. Thaman
It’s been more than ten months since a notable film released in theaters. Solo Brathuke So Better is the first major theatrical release post lockdown. Many are anxiously waiting for the film’s result as it will restore faith in the film trade if it does well during this pandemic.
What is it about?
Virat (Sai Tej) believes in the philosophy of staying single. He not only practices but also preaches about the singledom. Everything goes well until Virat realizes that Solo Life is soulless. He falls in love with Amrutha (Nabha Natesh), who is a staunch follower of Virat’s single sutra. How Amrutha realizes that being Solo is not ideal forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Sai Tej looked confident as Virat. His comic timing has improved a lot and also did well in emotional scenes. Nabha Natesh plays a bubbly character that only makes an entry in the interval scene. She is alright. Rao Ramesh’s character is not properly etched but his performance stands out. Rajendra Prasad plays the heroine’s father and Naresh is seen as the hero’s father. Vennela Kishore’s and Satya’s comedy works here and there.
Technicalities:
Debutante director Subbu pens a characterization based story and gives it a commercial treatment. Initial portions of the film look hurried and clumsy. His direction gets better as the film approaches the midway mark. Some portions are fun to watch, but the director fails in getting the emotions right. Thaman scored a couple of peppy numbers. Hey idi nenena and No Pelli are good. There’s not much scope for background score. Cinematography is just okay. Editing is neat. Production values are alright.
Highlights:
Pre interval sequence
Flat screenplay
Predictability
Solo Brathuke So Better is a character driven plot where the protagonist preaches the benefits of singledom. He doesn’t care about family emotions and hangs out with his single friends all the time. But he is left solo when all his friends decide to part ways with him and get married. He slowly realizes how hard it is leading a single life without someone to care about. A sequence of events later the protagonist is convinced that Solo life is not better and looks for a suitable bride.
There comes another twist in his story when the only girl he loves turns out to be an ardent follower of his Solo ideologies. He couldn’t express his feelings but wait for her to realize on her own. The characterization of the protagonist is relatable and there are a couple of nice twists in the story. However, the ending is predictable and most of the scenes are pointless. Even comedy scenes fall flat at times. Director couldn’t evoke emotions despite having a bunch of characters that could have served the purpose.
There’s no backstory to Virat’s ideologies or there is no proper explanation to why he believes in singledom. At least Amrutha’s character is introduced with a bit of backstory for believing in Solo life, but Virat’s introduction seems messy. The realization part gets proper screen time, but there’s an unwarranted hurriedness at the start.
Pre and post intermission parts are good with nice twists, but the rest of the film is very flat and dull. Again, the climatic portions are clumsier without proper payoffs. On the whole, Solo Brathuke So Better is a strictly average fare with everything including the romance, comedy and family emotions failing to click.
Bottom Line: Solo Brathuke So Flat!

Solo Bratuke So Better is the first big film that has released on the big screens post the lockdown. Starring Sai Dharam Tej and Nabha Natesh, the film has released with the support of the entire film fraternity. Let’s now see how the film is going to be.
Virat(Sai Tej) is a man who lives by the principle Solo Bratuke So Better. But as time passes by, he comes to know how important marriage is. In a key turn of events in his life, Amrutha (Nabha Natesh) enters the scene. This time, Virat wants love but Amrutha is strictly against it. How Virat manages this tricky situation is the whole story of the film.
Plus Points
Sai Tej looks handsome in the film and perfectly suits his role. He has improved by leaps and bounds with this film and is at ease in all the emotional and romantic scenes. The comedy generated through his character is pretty good in the first half.
Nabha Natesh enters the scene only in the interval block and does well. She tries to hold the scenes well but her role is not that etched properly. Rao Ramesh is impressive in his cameo. Sayta’s comedy punches and mannerisms are quite good.
The first half is quite impressive with neat logic of wanting to stay single. Vennela Kishore is a major attraction during this time with his comedy. Well composed songs and breezy scenes keep the audience engaged. The whole plot and interval bang nicely set the tone for a good second half.
Minus Points
After a very breezy first half, the pace drops in the second half. The emotional connect is also missing in the film during this time. When the director focused so much in letting the hero understand why marriage is important, he sadly doesn’t focus much on the heroine. With just one scene, she gets convinced about her love towards the hero.
Also, some more good scenes should have been there as to why the hero is not interested in marriage in the beginning of the film. With such good comedy in the first half, things fall short in the latter part.
If the makers would have added more fun and enough romance, things would have been different. Also, the climax is hurried and things are wrapped up in a jiffy which looks odd as the viewer is waiting to see if there is something else that is coming.
Technical Aspects
One of the biggest assets of the film is Thaman’s music. All his songs are superb and create a good vibe in the film. The camera work, lyrics and production values are top notch. The fun dialogues are good and so was the editing.
Coming to the director, Subbu, he has done a passable job with the film. His story idea is pretty good and execution was also amazing in the first half. But things fall apart in the second half as he loses grip on emotions and rushes up the scenes and the climax.
On the whole, Solo Brathuke So Better is a romantic comedy that clicks in the first half and slows down in the second. The film is a big screen experience and has clean comedy. Though the story and emotions are predictable and climax is rushed, the film ends as a passable watch this weekend.
