Young hero Aadi is doing back to back films in his career. Next in line is a crime thriller named Top Gear. The film has released today and let’s see how it is.

A dreaded criminal, Siddharth(Mime Gopi) cracks a big drug deal and tries to escape to Singapore. He reaches Hyderabad to execute the deal. On the other hand, Arjun(Aadi Sai Kumar) is a cab driver who is newly married. He gets entangled in this drug deal and has to do as said by the criminals to save his wife Aadhya(Riya Suman). Well, how did he do it is the basic story of the film.

Plus Points:

The basic idea is simple but the manner in which it is executed is decent. The director has gone into a lot of detailing and connects the twists well. Riya Suman as the female lead is decent in the film.

With each film, Aadi Sai Kumar is improving and shows a lot of maturity in Top Gear. He gets a restless role and does well in it. Satru as the cop was decent. Satyam Rajesh and Brahmaji were neat in their cameos.

The first half of the film is neat as the drug deal and the manner in which an innocent cab driver gets stuck is shown in an interesting manner. The second half is also passable and the thrills showcased in the last half an hour are decent.

Minus Points:

The film has a few loose ends. The hero is stuck in a situation and gets chance to call the cop’s numerous times but he does not do it. The second half has a few errors as the climax is ended in a jiffy.

The story idea is quite routine and has nothing new to showcase. Also, the trauma that Aadi faces because of his situation should have been elevated even more. There is no panic situation created in the film even though there was so much scope for it.

Technical Aspects:

The music of the film is very good and young composer Harshvardhan has done a great job. His BGM in the second half was quite impressive. The entire film happens at night and the locations have been beautifully showcased. Editing is decent.

Coming to the director Sashikanth, he has done a passable job with the film. Though there is nothing new in the story, the mind games that he plays and gets characters involved in various phases looks interesting. The way he had a detailed narration and kept the film’s runtime crisp is also an asset. Had he added more drama in the climax the effect would have been even better.

On the whole, Top Gear is a passable crime thriller with a few interesting thrills. There is nothing new that you will see here but the director has narrated the film in a way that you do not get bored and connect with the plot in a few areas.

టాలీవుడ్ యంగ్ అండ్ టాలెంటెడ్ హీరో ఆది సాయి కుమార్ హీరోగా నటించిన లేటెస్ట్ చిత్రం “టాప్ గేర్”. ఈ ఏడాది తాను నటించిన మరో చిత్రం ఇది కాగా ఈ చిత్రం ఈరోజు థియేటర్స్ లోకి వచ్చింది. మరి ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో సమీక్షలో తెలుసుకుందాం రండి.

ఇక కథలోకి వస్తే..సిద్ధార్థ్(మైమ్ గోపి) ఓ పెద్ద డ్రగ్ డీలర్ కాగా ఈ క్రమంలో తాను సింగపూర్ కి పారిపోవాలని ప్లాన్ చేసుకుంటాడు. మరి ఈ ప్లానింగ్ లో డీల్ నిమిత్తం హైదరాబాద్ కి వస్తాడు. ఇక మరోపక్క అర్జున్(ఆది సాయికుమార్) అప్పుడే పెళ్లి చేసుకొని ఓ క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్ గా లైఫ్ లీడ్ చేస్తాడు. అయితే అనూహ్యంగా తాను ఈ డ్రగ్ రాకెట్ లో చిక్కుకోగా నెక్స్ట్ తన భార్య ఆధ్య(రియా సుమన్) ని కాపాడుకోవడం కోసం ఆ క్రిమినల్స్ చెప్పినట్టు చెయ్యాల్సి వస్తుంది. మరి ఈ రాకెట్ నుంచి తాను ఎలా బయటకి వస్తాడు? తన భార్యని కాపాడుకోగలుగుతాడా? ఆ ముఠాని పట్టిస్తాడా లేదా అనేది తెలియాలి అంటే ఈ సినిమాని వెండితెరపై చూడాల్సిందే.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఆది సాయికుమార్ తన సినిమా సినిమాకి బాగా డెవలప్ అవుతూ వస్తున్నాడని చెప్పాలి. అలాగే ఈ సినిమాలో కూడా ఓ క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్ గా, ఓ భర్తగా మంచి ఎమోషన్స్ ని పండించాడు. తన లుక్స్ పరంగా కూడా డీసెంట్ గా కనిపించాడు. అలాగే నటి రియా సుమన్ కూడా మంచి పాత్రలో కనిపించి మెప్పించింది.

ఇక వీరితో పాటలుగా సినిమాలో సత్యం రాజేష్, బ్రహ్మాజీ తదితరులు తమ పాత్ర పరిధి మేరకు ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. ఇక సినిమాలో అయితే కొన్ని అంశాల్లో సినిమా ఇంప్రెస్ చేస్తుంది. కొన్ని సీన్స్ మంచి ఇంట్రెస్ట్ గా సాగగా నెక్స్ట్ అయితే కొన్ని అంశాలు డీటెయిల్స్ చూపించడంలో అలాగే ట్విస్ట్ లు బాగున్నాయి. అలాగే డ్రగ్ డీలింగ్ అంశాలు పై సీన్స్ ఆసక్తిగా ఉండగా ఫస్టాఫ్ ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతుంది.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ తరహా కొన్ని థ్రిల్లర్ చిత్రంలో అయితే లాజిక్స్ కూడా చాలా ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా ఉంటాయి. వీటిని బాగా హ్యాండిల్ చేస్తే మరింత ఆసక్తిగా ఉంటుంది కానీ ఈ చిత్రంలో లాజిక్స్ అయితే మిస్ అయ్యాయి. హీరో రోల్ ఓ టైం లో సాయం అందుకునే పరిస్థితి వస్తుంది కానీ దానిని మిస్ చేసారు.

అలాగే క్లైమాక్స్ కూడా అంత ఇంప్రెస్ చేసే రేంజ్ లో అనిపించదు. అలాగే సినిమా కథ కూడా అంత కొత్తగా ఏమీ కనిపించదు. అలాగే మరిన్ని సీన్స్ ని అయితే బెటర్ గా చేయాల్సి ఉంది. వాటిని ఇంకా ఆసక్తిగా కానీ మలచి మంచి డ్రామా క్రియేట్ చేసి ఉంటే బెటర్ థ్రిల్స్ వచ్చి ఉండేవి.

సాంకేతిక వర్గం :

ఈ చిత్రంలో నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి. హర్ష వర్ధన్ ఇచ్చిన మ్యూజిక్ సినిమాలో డీసెంట్ గా ఉంది అలాగే తన బ్యాక్గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా ఉంది. అలాగే సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ డీసెంట్ గా ఉంది. అలాగే డైలాగ్స్, ఎడిటింగ్ బాగున్నాయి.

ఇక దర్శకుడు శశికాంత్ విషయానికి వస్తే తాను డీసెంట్ వర్క్ ని అందించారని చెప్పాలి. తన స్టోరీ లైన్ రొటీన్ గానే ఉన్నా చాలా చోట్ల అయితే ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ నరేషన్ ని తాను చూపించారు. అలాగే కొన్ని మైండ్ గేమ్ సీన్స్ ని బాగా డీల్ చేసారు. అయితే క్లైమాక్స్ పోర్షన్ ని కానీ ఇంకా కొన్ని సీన్స్ ని అయితే బెటర్ గా చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది.

ఇక మొత్తంగా చూసినట్టు అయితే ఈ “టాప్ గేర్” చిత్రం డీసెంట్ థ్రిల్స్ ని అందిస్తుందని చెప్పొచ్చు. ఆది సాయి కుమార్ నటన మరింత మెరుగ్గా ఈ సినిమాలో కనిపించగా పలు సీన్స్ ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతాయి. అయితే దర్శకుడు చిత్రాన్ని ఇంకా బెటర్ గా ప్రెజెంట్ చేసి ఉంటే మరింత స్థాయిలో ఈ సినిమా ఆకట్టుకునేది. ఓవరాల్ గా అయితే ఈ చిత్రం ఈ వారాంతానికి డీసెంట్ గా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.

ఆది సాయికుమార్ వరసపెట్టి సినిమాలు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నాడు కానీ ఏది ఎప్పుడొస్తోందో తెలీకుండా పోతోంది. ఏ మాత్రం పసలేని సినిమాలు చేస్తూ కనీసం ప్రీ రిలీజ్ బజ్ కూడా వర్కౌటవ్వని విధంగా సాగుతోంది అతని కెరీర్. ఈ ఏడు అతిథి దేవోభవ, బ్లాక్, తీస్మార్ ఖాన్, క్రేజీ ఫెలో అని నాలుగు సినిమాలొచ్చినా ఊసులోలేకుండా పోయాయి. సంవత్సరాంతంలో "టాప్ గేర్" అంటూ ఈ రోజొకటి విడుదలయింది. టైటిల్లో ఉన్న ఫోర్స్ కనీసం సగంలో సగమున్నా ఈ సెలవల సీజన్లో ఒకవర్గం ప్రేక్షకులైనా ఆదరించే అవకాశముంది. ఇంతకీ ఎలా ఉంది? విషయంలోకి వెళ్దాం. 

కథానాయకుడు ఒక క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్. అతనికి పెళ్లవడంతోనే ఫస్ట్ సీన్ మొదలవుతుంది. మరోపక్క ఒక డ్రగ్ డీలర్ తెరమీదకొస్తాడు. ఈ పాత్ర మైం మధు చేసాడు. అనుకోని పరిస్థితుల్లో మన హీరో ఆ డ్రగ్ మాఫియా ట్రాప్లో పడతాడు. పర్యవసానంగా అతని భార్య కూడా ప్రమాదంలో చిక్కుకుంటుంది. అక్కడి నుంచి ఎలా బయటపడతాడు, భార్యనెలా కాపాడుకుంటాడు అనేది తక్కిన కథ. 

కథ ఎలాగైనా ఉండొచ్చు, ఎంతైనా ఉండొచ్చు. విషయమంతా కథనంలోనే ఉంటుంది. విలన్ ఇంట్రడక్షన్ సీన్లో కలియుగ ధర్మం మీద ఒక డైలాగ్ కొడతాడు. అది విని మంచి డెప్త్ ఉన్న క్యారక్టర్లతో కూడిన కథ చూడబోతున్నాం అనిపిస్తుంది. కానీ క్రమంగా కథ రొటీన్ రొట్టకొట్టుడులోకి వెళ్లి చిన్నపిల్లలాడే దొంగాపోలీసాటలా మారుతుంది. 

సినిమా మొత్తాన్ని రోడ్ల మీద నైట్ ఎఫెక్ట్లో తీయడం విశేషం. వేరే లోకేషన్స్ హడావిడి లేదు. ఆ రకంగా నిర్మాతని సుఖపెట్టినట్టే. పేరున్న ఆర్టిస్టులున్నా వాళ్లందరివీ ఒకటి రెండు రోజుల కాల్షీట్ల వ్యవహారంలా ఉంది. అన్ని పాత్రలూ కేమియోకి ఎక్కువ, ఫుల్ లెంగ్త్ కి తక్కువ అన్నట్టున్నాయి. 

పేరుకి "టాప్ గేర్" కానీ అసలు కథ ఇంటెర్వల్ కి చేరినా కూడా ఫస్ట్ గేర్లో అక్కడక్కడే తిరిగి న్యూట్రల్లో పెట్టి ఆపినట్టుంటుంది. సెకండాఫులో అన్నా టాప్ గేర్ పడుతుందా అంటే అది ఇంకా దారుణం. ఫస్ట్ గేర్ వేసి స్లోప్ ఎక్కుతున్న ఫీలింగొస్తుంది. ఎక్కడా ఎడ్జ్ ఆఫ్ ద సీట్లో కూర్చుని గోళ్లు కొరుక్కునేలాంటి సన్నివేశాలు లేవు. క్రైం బ్యాక్డ్రాప్లో తీసిన సినిమాకి ఉండాల్సిన ప్రాధమిక లక్షణాలు ఇందులో లేవు. కథగా రాసుకున్నప్పుడు ఏవో కొన్ని ట్విస్టులు పెట్టుకున్నా అవి తెరమీదకి తేవడంలో దర్శకుడు విఫలమయ్యాడు. 

సాంకేతికంగా చూసుకుంటే ప్రధమార్ధంలో ఒక పాటుంది. అది గుర్తుండేలా అయితే లేదు. ఇంకెక్కడా మనకి పాటలు వినపడవు. అయితే అది ఈ సినిమాకి మైనస్ కాదు..ప్లస్సే. ఎందుకంటే కనీసం ఇంకొక్క పాటున్నా ప్రేక్షకుల సహనానికి ఐఐటీ పరీక్ష పెట్టినట్టుండేది. నేపథ్య సంగీతం పర్వాలేదు. మైనస్సైతే కాదు. 

కథ రాసుకోవడంలోనే ఎక్కడా ఐక్యూ లేదు. అన్నీ తమకు అనుకూలంగా రాసుకోవడం వల్ల ఎక్కడా చాలెంజ్ కనపడదు. హీరోయిన్ సరిగ్గా కింద పడున్న వాకీటాకీ అందుకున్నప్పుడే ఫలానా వాడు హత్యలు చేసి తప్పించుకున్నాడని వినపడడం సీన్ అనుకూలంగా రాసుకోవడానికి పరాకష్ట. ఫస్టాఫులో లేజర్ గన్స్ తో వచ్చిన పోలీసులకి ఏదో గాజు గ్లాస్ విసిరి డైవెర్ట్ చేసి ప్రతిదాడి చేస్తాడు విలన్. అదేంటో సగటు ప్రేక్షకుడికి అర్ధం కాదు. హాలీవుడ్ దర్శకులే దీనికి భాష్యం రాయాలి.

ఎడిటింగ్ ని మాత్రం మెచ్చుకోవాలి. ఎక్కడా సాగతీత లేకుండా త్వరగా ముగించాడు ఈ బాలలచిత్రాన్ని. 

ఆది నటన బాగానే ఉంది కానీ అతని కథాకథనాల ఎంపికే దెబ్బకొట్టింది. రియా సుమన్ చూడ్డానికి బాగుంది. హీరోయిన్ గా పెద్ద నిడివైతే లేదు.

బ్రహ్మాజి, సత్యం రాజేష్ లు కాసేపు కనిపించినా వాళ్ల మార్కు క్యారెక్టరైతే లేదు. సుపారీ హంతకుల్లాగ కాసేపు కనిపించి టపా కట్టేసారు. 

మెయిన్ విలన్ గా మైం మధు మాత్రం నిండుగా ఉన్నాడు. పాత్రకి తగ్గట్టుగా సరిపోయాడు. దువ్వాసి మోహన్ లాంటి వాళ్లు ప్యాడింగ్ ఆర్టిస్టులుగా దర్శనమిచ్చారు. ఏసీపీగా శత్రు విగ్రహం బాగానే ఉన్నా అత్యంత పేలవమైన క్యారెక్టర్ కావడంతో తేలిపోయాడు. 

తక్కువ బజెట్లో చుట్టేసినట్టుగా ఉన్న సినిమాకి కాస్తైనా టెన్షన్ పెట్టే కథనం తోడై ఉంటే మంచి ఫలితం దక్కేది. ప్రేక్షకులు సినిమా చూస్తూ టెన్షన్ పడలేదు కాబట్టి నిర్మాత ఫలితాన్ని చూసి టెన్షన్ పడాల్సిరావొచ్చు. టాప్ గేర్ వేసుకుని బండి ముందుకు దూసుకుపోతుందనుకుంటే రివర్స్ గేరేసుకుని బండి వెనక్కెళ్లి గోడకి గుద్దేసుకున్నట్టయింది.

యంగ్ టాలెంటెడ్ హీరో ఆది సాయి కుమార్, రియా సుమన్‌ జంటగా తెరకెక్కిన చిత్రం 'టాప్ గేర్'. ఈ చిత్రానికి కె.శశికాంత్‌ దర్శకత్వం వహిస్తున్నారు. ఆదిత్య మూవీస్ ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్స్ సమర్పణలో శ్రీ ధనలక్ష్మి ప్రొడక్షన్స్ బ్యానర్‌పై ఈ సినిమాను రూపొందించారు. కేవీ శ్రీధర్‌రెడ్డి  ఈ చిత్రాన్ని నిర్మించారు.  'టాప్ గేర్'సినిమాతో మరో యాక్షన్ థ్రిల్లర్ మూవీతో ఆడియన్స్ ముందుకొచ్చారు ఆది. డిసెంబర్ 30న ఈ సినిమా విడుదలైన ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం. 

అసలు కథేంటంటే: ఆది సాయికుమార్(అర్జున్) ఓ క్యాబ్‌ డ్రైవర్. రియా సుమన్(ఆద్య)ను పెళ్లి చేసుకుని సంతోషంగా జీవనం సాగిస్తుంటాడు. కొత్తగా పెళ్లైన దంపతులు కావడంతో చాలా అన్యోన్యంగా ఉంటారు. మైమ్‌ గోపీ(సిద్ధార్థ్‌) డ్రగ్స్ సరఫరా చేస్తుంటాడు. పోలీసుల నుంచి తప్పించుకుని తిరుగుతుంటాడు. ఇతని ముఠాలో బ్రహ్మజీ, సత్యం రాజేశ్‌ కూడా ఉంటారు.

డ్యూటీకి వెళ్లిన అర్జున్‌ ఇంటికొస్తుండగా ఓ క్యాబ్‌ బుకింగ్‌ ఆర్డర్‌ వస్తుంది. అక్కడే అసలు కథ మొదలవుతుంది. అనుకోకుండా ఆరోజు అతని క్యాబ్‌లో ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు ఎక్కుతారు. ఆరోజు రాత్రి అర్జున్‌కు ఊహించని పరిణామాలు ఎదురవుతాయి. అతనికి ఓ గుడ్‌ న్యూస్‌ చెప్పాలని భార్య ఆద్య ఇంటి దగ్గర నిరీక్షిస్తూ ఉంటుంది. కానీ ఆరోజు రాత్రి అర్జున్‌ ఇంటికెళ్లాడా? ఆ గుడ్‌ న్యూస్‌ విన్నాడా? అసలు క్యాబ్‌లో ఎక్కిన ఆ ఇద్దరు వ్యక్తులు ఎవరు? ఆ తర్వాత అర్జున్‌కు ఎలాంటి పరిణామాలు ఎదురయ్యాయి? డ్రగ్స్‌ ముఠాకు, హీరోకు సంబంధం ఏంటీ? అర్జున్‌ను పోలీసులు ఎందుకు పట్టుకోవాలనుకుంటున్నారు? అనేది తెరపై చూడాల్సిందే. 

కథ ఎలా సాగిందంటే.. డ్రగ్స్‌ ముఠా నేపథ్యంలో ఈ సినిమా కథ సాగుతుంది. విలన్‌ ఇంట్రడక్షన్‌తోనే కథ మొదలవుతుంది. ఆ తర్వాత ఆది, రియా సుమన్‌ పెళ్లి, దంపతుల మధ్య రొమాంటిక్‌ సన్నివేశాలు ప్రేక్షకులను ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. ఫస్టాఫ్‌లో ఎలాంటి పరిచయం లేకుండానే డైరెక్ట్‌గా పాత్రలను రంగంలోకి దించారు డైరెక్టర్. జీవనం సాఫీగా నడుస్తున్న క్యాబ్‌ డ్రైవర్‌ జీవితంలోకి డ్రగ్స్‌ ముఠా ఎంట్రీ కావడం, ఎలాంటి ట్విస్ట్‌లు లేకుండానే కథ సాగడం ప్రేక్షకుల కాస్త బోర్ కొట్టించింది. డ్రగ్స్‌ ముఠాను పట్టుకునేందుకు పోలీసుల ఆపరేషన్‌ చుట్టే కథ మొత్తం తిరుగుతుంది. ఫస్టాఫ్‌ ఓ రొమాంటిక్‌ సాంగ్ మినహా ఎలాంటి యాక్షన్ సీన్స్‌, కామెడీ లేకుండానే ముగుస్తుంది.

సెకండాఫ్‌కు వచ్చేసరికి కథలో వేగం పెంచారు. డ్రగ్స్ ముఠా, హీరో మధ్య సన్నివేశాలతో ఆద్యంతం ఆసక్తికరంగా సాగింది. కథలో డేవిడ్‌ అనే పాత్రే అసలు ట్విస్ట్. సెకండాఫ్‌ మొత్తం డ్రగ్స్ ఉన్న బ్యాగ్‌ చుట్టే కథ నడిపించారు. మధ్యలో అక్కడక్కడ కొత్త పాత్రల ఎంట్రీతో ప్రేక్షకుల్లో ఆసక్తి మరింత పెంచారు. డ్రగ్స్ ముఠా, పోలీసులు, హీరో చుట్టే సెకండాఫ్‌ తిరుగుతుంది.

మధ్యలో ఓ యాక్షన్‌ ఫైట్‌, డ్రగ్స్ బ్యాగ్‌ కోసం హీరో అర్జున్‌(ఆది) చేసే సాహసం హైలెట్. ఒకవైపు యాక్షన్‌ సన్నివేశాలు చూపిస్తూనే.. మరోవైపు భార్య, భర్తల ప్రేమానురాగాలను డైరెక్టర్‌ చక్కగా చూపించారు. క్లైమాక్స్‌లో వచ్చే ట్విస్ట్‌ నవ్వులు తెప్పించడం ఖాయం. సీరియస్‌ సీన్లలో కామెడీ పండించడం శశికాంత్‌కే సాధ్యమైంది. ఓవరాల్‌గా మనుషుల ఎమోషన్స్‌తో ఇతరులు ఎలా ఆడుకుంటారనే సందేశాన్నిచ్చారు డైరెక్టర్‌. అలాగే డ్రగ్స్‌ బారినపడి యువత జీవితాలను ఎలా నాశనం చేసుకుంటున్నారనే సందేశమిచ్చారు డైరెక్టర్.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే.. ఆది సాయికుమార్ ‍యాక్షన్ బాగుంది. క్యాబ్‌ డ్రైవర్‌ పాత్రలో ఆది సాయికుమార్ ఒదిగిపోయాడు. రియా సుమన్ నటనతో ఆకట్టుకుంది. రొమాంటిక్‌ సన్నివేశాల్లో అదరగొట్టింది. హీరో, హీరోయిన్ మధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీ బాగా కుదిరింది. విలన్‌గా మైమ్‌ గోపీ(సిద్ధార్థ్‌) ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. శత్రు(ఏసీపీ విక్రం) పాత్రలో ఒదిగిపోయాడు. బ్రహ్మాజీ, సత్యం రాజేశ్, బెనర్జీ, వంశీ, ఆర్జే హేమంత్, చమ్మక్‌ చంద్ర తమ పాత్రలకు న్యాయం చేశారు. హర్షవర్ధన్ రామేశ్వర్ బీజీఎం సినిమాకు ప్లస్. సాయి శ్రీరామ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ, ప్రవీణ్ పూడి ఎడిటింగ్ పర్వాలేదు.ఆదిత్య మూవీస్ ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్స్, శ్రీ ధనలక్ష్మి ప్రొడక్షన్స్ బ్యానర్‌ నిర్మాణ విలువలు స్థాయికి తగ్గట్టుగా బాగున్నాయి.

Athidhi Devo Bhava, starring Aadi Sai Kumar, was the first film of 2022, and he went on to star in three more this year. Top Gear, his final film of 2022, opened in theatres on the year’s last Friday.

In the opening scene of “Top Gear,” we meet Arjun (Aadi Saikumar) and Aadya (Riya Suman), a newlywed couple who have moved into a rented house in Samshabad. Arjun is a taxi driver by day. Arjun has promised her that he will come home early from work on her birthday so that they can celebrate together before he heads out for work.

A drug dealing duo hired his cab. Siddharth, a notorious don who plans to relocate his operations to Singapore, sent them to retrieve a bag of cocaine from a man named Subbarao. On the other hand, police are actively looking for them to apprehend. After two drug dealers have killed each other, Siddharth kidnaps Arjun’s wife and blackmails him into delivering the bag to him.

Over the next twenty-four hours, Arjun does everything in his power to keep his wife and himself safe.

The storyline is simple. The hero, a cab driver in Hyderabad, becomes entangled with drug dealers on the city’s roads. Following a short romantic interlude and a duet (the “Vennela Vennela” song), the film immediately transitions to the main action and does not veer off into musical numbers or comedic interludes.

Sashikanth, the film’s first director, tries to hook us with the story’s characters and a couple of unexpected turns, but the ending misses the mark. Subsequent parts are not engaging enough. In a film where there is ample opportunity for panic, none is created.

Aadi Saikumar carries off his role effectively. In her role as a wife, Riya Suman conforms to the norm. Both Shatru (the cop) and Mime Gopi (the villain) do fine jobs. The cinematographer has managed to capture the city streets of Hyderabad beautifully.

Bottom-line: “Top Gear” is a slight step up from many of Aadi Saikumar’s recent films. It attempts to engage to some extent. However, the latter half drags on.

Top Gear Telugu Movie Review & Ratings | Hit or Flop?

Top Gear Telugu Movie Review: Adi Saikuamar’s most recent outing, Crazy Fellow, didn’t do well at the box office, despite the results, he has released almost five films this year and is coming up with an action thriller to end this year. However, Top Gear’s trailer seems quite interesting and raises the curiosity to watch the film, and Adi Saikuamar also seems pretty confident during the promotion of the film. Let us get into the in-depth review of Top Gear and find out whether the film is worth watching or not.

Arjun (Adi Saikumar) is a middle-class guy who works as a cab driver. On the other side, there are multiple murders taking place in the city, and in the process of investigation, police find that a mysterious man named David is the killer, but no one knows who David is. One day, Arjun becomes an eyewitness to a murder, and that one night changed his life, and he becomes a most wanted man by police and goons as well. Finally, how did Arjun escape from this maze? And who is David? that needs to be seen in the film.

Aadi Saikumar, Riya Suman, Brahmaji, Shatru, Satyam Rajesh, Mime Gopi, and others the film was directed by Shashikanth, and cinematography has done by Sai Sriram, Music has composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar and the film produced by KV Sridhar Reddy under the banner of Sri Dhanalakshmi Productions.

Movie Verdict

The best point that grabs the audience’s attention for Top Gear is that the story will happen in one night. Sounds crazy, right? Well, it starts off quite interesting that people are being murdered with no clues, and it then delves into the lead character’s establishment and his world-building, which is quite relatable. Though the film is an out-and-out commercial flick, it has some chilling moments here and there throughout the film. The pace in the first half ebbs and flows with regular scenes like the family track of the hero and forced songs, but the multiple murder mystery point holds the audience’s attention, the interval twist lands pretty well, and it raises the curiosity to watch the later half.

While talking about the performances, Adi Saikumar as Arjun did a decent job as a cab driver; his body language and his dialogue delivery are good, but when he had to show the tension and shocking moments through his face, he completely failed; Riya Suman does a fair job, and she looks pretty good as a traditional girl; and Brahmaji, Mime Gopi, and Shatru did well for their respective roles.

Technically, Top Gear is okay. Sai Sriram’s visuals are partly good, the majority of the movie happens at night, and the night scenes could have been much darker, Harshavardhan Rameshwar’s songs didn’t register; he impressed with his background score, and the rest of the technical team did well as per the story requires.

Director Shashikanth did a passable job; his writing is good, but his narrative could have been better, especially in the latter half. Despite the few flaws, he manages to hold the audience’s attention with a racy screenplay and suspense.

To sum it up, Top Gear is a decent action thriller with some commercial elements.

Top Gear Movie : Story Review

Top Gear's story is all about the happenings in the life of a Cab driver and how his life changes regarding a missing bag. Cab driver Arjun (Aadi Saikumar) leads a happy life after getting married to a beautiful girl Aadya (Riya Suman). However, his happy life turns upside down, and the reason behind it is the connection to the drug lord Siddharth (Mime Gopi) and cops chasing them from the rest of the developments.

Aadi Saikumar slipped into the role of the cab driver effortlessly. He shows the tension in his eyes and comes with a serious expression. Riya Suman got limited scope to perform and she is fine in her role. Shatru as the cop is fine while Brahmaji and Satyam Rajesh made their presence felt in the cameos. Mime Gopi performed the antagonist role with ease as he had done such roles earlier. Others performed their roles according to the plot.

Top Gear Movie : Technicians Review

Top Gear story readied by Sashikanth is a thriller and he tried to excite movie lovers by showing Aadi in a different genre. Sashikanth's idea is right and he started the narration in an earnest manner. However, the story turned out to be routine and this impacted the screenplay. To some extent, the first half ends on a decent note but the second half drags with no real twists and turns, and the director after losing the plot quickly ends the film with a weak climax.

Harshavardhan Rameshwar's music is ok. The background score is decent but he could have created a more thumping impact. The cinematography of Sai Sriram is good and according to the mood of the story and he showed the night scenes quite well. Prawin Pudi in editing left a few drags that impacted the tempo. Dhanalakshmi Productions maintained good values to turn the film good watch.

Altogether, Sashikanth tried to power Aadi Saikumar into Top Gear with the crime thriller Top Gear. But all his efforts went in vain as, after the interesting start, Sashikanth lost the plot and turned the story into extremely routine and weak. He failed to narrate the story in a gripping and interesting manner with twists and turns. Repetitive scenes and routine drama, lack of real emotions prevented the film from going into top gear. On a whole Top Gear doesn't even shift to the first gear. Considering these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2 Rating for Top Gear .

ఇక కథలోకి వస్తే..సిద్ధార్థ్(మైమ్ గోపి) ఓ పెద్ద డ్రగ్ డీలర్ కాగా ఈ క్రమంలో తాను సింగపూర్ కి పారిపోవాలని ప్లాన్ చేసుకుంటాడు. మరి ఈ ప్లానింగ్ లో డీల్ నిమిత్తం హైదరాబాద్ కి వస్తాడు. ఇక మరోపక్క అర్జున్(ఆది సాయికుమార్) అప్పుడే పెళ్లి చేసుకొని ఓ క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్ గా లైఫ్ లీడ్ చేస్తాడు. అయితే అనూహ్యంగా తాను ఈ డ్రగ్ రాకెట్ లో చిక్కుకోగా నెక్స్ట్ తన భార్య ఆధ్య(రియా సుమన్) ని కాపాడుకోవడం కోసం ఆ క్రిమినల్స్ చెప్పినట్టు చెయ్యాల్సి వస్తుంది. మరి ఈ రాకెట్ నుంచి తాను ఎలా బయటకి వస్తాడు? తన భార్యని కాపాడుకోగలుగుతాడా? ఆ ముఠాని పట్టిస్తాడా లేదా అనేది తెలియాలి అంటే ఈ సినిమాని వెండితెరపై చూడాల్సిందే.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఆది సాయికుమార్ తన సినిమా సినిమాకి బాగా డెవలప్ అవుతూ వస్తున్నాడని చెప్పాలి. అలాగే ఈ సినిమాలో కూడా ఓ క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్ గా, ఓ భర్తగా మంచి ఎమోషన్స్ ని పండించాడు. తన లుక్స్ పరంగా కూడా డీసెంట్ గా కనిపించాడు. అలాగే నటి రియా సుమన్ కూడా మంచి పాత్రలో కనిపించి మెప్పించింది.

ఇక వీరితో పాటలుగా సినిమాలో సత్యం రాజేష్, బ్రహ్మాజీ తదితరులు తమ పాత్ర పరిధి మేరకు ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. ఇక సినిమాలో అయితే కొన్ని అంశాల్లో సినిమా ఇంప్రెస్ చేస్తుంది. కొన్ని సీన్స్ మంచి ఇంట్రెస్ట్ గా సాగగా నెక్స్ట్ అయితే కొన్ని అంశాలు డీటెయిల్స్ చూపించడంలో అలాగే ట్విస్ట్ లు బాగున్నాయి. అలాగే డ్రగ్ డీలింగ్ అంశాలు పై సీన్స్ ఆసక్తిగా ఉండగా ఫస్టాఫ్ ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతుంది.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ తరహా కొన్ని థ్రిల్లర్ చిత్రంలో అయితే లాజిక్స్ కూడా చాలా ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా ఉంటాయి. వీటిని బాగా హ్యాండిల్ చేస్తే మరింత ఆసక్తిగా ఉంటుంది కానీ ఈ చిత్రంలో లాజిక్స్ అయితే మిస్ అయ్యాయి. హీరో రోల్ ఓ టైం లో సాయం అందుకునే పరిస్థితి వస్తుంది కానీ దానిని మిస్ చేసారు.

అలాగే క్లైమాక్స్ కూడా అంత ఇంప్రెస్ చేసే రేంజ్ లో అనిపించదు. అలాగే సినిమా కథ కూడా అంత కొత్తగా ఏమీ కనిపించదు. అలాగే మరిన్ని సీన్స్ ని అయితే బెటర్ గా చేయాల్సి ఉంది. వాటిని ఇంకా ఆసక్తిగా కానీ మలచి మంచి డ్రామా క్రియేట్ చేసి ఉంటే బెటర్ థ్రిల్స్ వచ్చి ఉండేవి.

సాంకేతిక వర్గం :

ఈ చిత్రంలో నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి. హర్ష వర్ధన్ ఇచ్చిన మ్యూజిక్ సినిమాలో డీసెంట్ గా ఉంది అలాగే తన బ్యాక్గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా ఉంది. అలాగే సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ డీసెంట్ గా ఉంది. అలాగే డైలాగ్స్, ఎడిటింగ్ బాగున్నాయి.

ఇక దర్శకుడు శశికాంత్ విషయానికి వస్తే తాను డీసెంట్ వర్క్ ని అందించారని చెప్పాలి. తన స్టోరీ లైన్ రొటీన్ గానే ఉన్నా చాలా చోట్ల అయితే ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ నరేషన్ ని తాను చూపించారు. అలాగే కొన్ని మైండ్ గేమ్ సీన్స్ ని బాగా డీల్ చేసారు. అయితే క్లైమాక్స్ పోర్షన్ ని కానీ ఇంకా కొన్ని సీన్స్ ని అయితే బెటర్ గా చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది.

ఇక మొత్తంగా చూసినట్టు అయితే ఈ “టాప్ గేర్” చిత్రం డీసెంట్ థ్రిల్స్ ని అందిస్తుందని చెప్పొచ్చు. ఆది సాయి కుమార్ నటన మరింత మెరుగ్గా ఈ సినిమాలో కనిపించగా పలు సీన్స్ ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతాయి. అయితే దర్శకుడు చిత్రాన్ని ఇంకా బెటర్ గా ప్రెజెంట్ చేసి ఉంటే మరింత స్థాయిలో ఈ సినిమా ఆకట్టుకునేది. ఓవరాల్ గా అయితే ఈ చిత్రం ఈ వారాంతానికి డీసెంట్ గా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది.

Aadi Saikumar is bringing multiple films to the theatres every year. “Top Gear” is his latest to hit the theaters.

Let’s find out its merits and demerits.

Story: Arjun (Aadi Saikumar), a cab driver, recently tied the knot with Aadhya (Riya Suman).

One day on his way to work, he stumbles into a drug gang and finds himself unexpectedly involved. Two drug dealers who had hired his cab got into a gunfight inside, setting off a chain of events.

The drug dealers' boss (Mime Gopi) threatens to kill Aadhya if Arjun doesn't find the bag they dropped off and deliver it to him. In the meantime, the police are keeping an eye out for Arjun's cab while he searches for the bag.

Artistes’ Performances: Recently, Aadi Sai Kumar's roles have been more grounded. He is convincing in the part. There isn't much room for Riya Suman to shine.

Mime Gopi plays the villainous role in an impressive way. Shatru does a respectable job portraying a police officer.

Technical Excellence: The cinematography is an advantage to the film. The majority of the action occurs in a taxi racing through the streets of Hyderabad.

The night-time panorama of Cyberabad was beautifully captured by the cinematographer. The score is fine and there is only one song. The editing could have been more precise.

Highlights: Beginning portion

Drawback: Second half drags on Lack of gripping narrative

Analysis The protagonist becoming involved with a drug gang inadvertently is nothing new. In addition, films in which a missing item serves as the primary plot point have become regular in Telugu cinema. So, there isn't a whole lot to be surprised by the basic plot of "Top Gear".

This action thriller, however, manages to hook the audiences with its compelling beginning portions.

To its credit, the film doesn't bother with the story or the romantic angle of the main character. Drug dealers (Brahmaji and Satyam Rajesh) and their motivations are explored, as are those of police officers and the main don, who is also interestingly portrayed in the film.

But it's not captivatingly interesting to see how these various personalities interact and plot deceptions against one another.

The film quickly loses its momentum. When it should have been in top gear, the film drags on and loses steam, lessening its impact.

The better parts of this middling thriller are the cinematography and the decent grip in the middle.

Overall, "Top Gear" is not an entertaining thriller. The narrative never goes on top gear but runs like an L-board drive in first gear.

Bottom line: Not gripping

జయాపజయాలతో సంబంధం లేకుండా సినిమాలు చేసుకుంటూ వెళ్తున్న హీరో ఆది సాయికుమార్. 2022 మొదటి వారంలో ‘అతిథి దేవోభవ’ సినిమాతో తెలుగు సినిమా సంవత్సరాన్ని ప్రారంభించిన ఆది సాయికుమార్... చివరి వారంలో ‘టాప్ గేర్’ అనే థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమాతో సంవత్సరాన్ని ముగించడానికి కూడా వచ్చాడు. ఇదొక థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమా అని టీజర్, ట్రైలర్లు చూస్తేనే అర్థం అవుతుంది. మరి 2022కి ఆది హ్యాపీ ఎండింగ్ ఇచ్చాడా? టాప్ గేర్‌తో హిట్ కొట్టాడా?

కథ: అర్జున్ (ఆది సాయికుమార్) ఒక క్యాబ్ డ్రైవర్. భార్య ఆద్య (రియా సుమన్)తో సంతోషంగా జీవితం గడుపుతూ ఉంటాడు. మరోవైపు సిద్ధార్థ్ (మైమ్ గోపి) అనే క్రిమినల్ కోసం హైదరాబాద్ పోలీసులు వెతుకుతూ ఉంటారు. దీంతో రూ.వందల కోట్ల విలువైన డ్రగ్స్‌తో దేశం వదిలి వెళ్లిపోవాలని ప్లాన్ చేస్తాడు సిద్ధార్థ్. అనుకోకుండా అర్జున్ క్యాబ్ నుంచి డ్రగ్స్ ఉన్న బ్యాగ్ మిస్ అవుతుంది. బ్యాగ్ ఇవ్వకపోతే ఆద్యను చంపేస్తానని అర్జున్‌ను గోపి బెదిరిస్తాడు. మరి చివరికి ఏం అయింది? అర్జున్ తన భార్యను కాపాడుకున్నాడా? అనేది తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే.

విశ్లేషణ: ఒక సామాన్యుడు తన కుటుంబం కోసమో, ప్రేమించిన వాళ్ల కోసమో అసామాన్యుడిగా మారడం అనేది కొత్త పాయింటేమీ కాదు. ఈ లైన్ మీద కొన్ని వందల సినిమాలు ఇప్పటికే వచ్చి ఉంటాయి. కానీ ఎలా డీల్ చేశామనే దాని మీదనే సినిమా సక్సెస్ అవుతుందా? లేదా? అన్నది ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. ఈ విషయంలో దర్శకుడు శశికాంత్ సగం వరకే సక్సెస్ అయ్యారు. సినిమా ప్రారంభం చాలా రొటీన్‌గా ఉంటుంది. హీరో, హీరోయిన్ల మధ్య ప్రేమ సన్నివేశాలు, పాట, విలన్ సిద్ధార్థ్‌ను పట్టుకోవడానికి పోలీసులు చేసే ప్రయత్నాల నేపథ్యంలో సినిమా మొదలవుతుంది.

డ్రగ్స్ ఉన్న బ్యాగ్ అర్జున్ క్యాబ్‌లోకి వచ్చినప్పటి నుంచి అసలు కథ మొదలవుతుంది. అక్కడ నుంచి స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే వేగంగా సాగుతుంది. సెకండాఫ్‌లో హైవే మీద జరిగే ఛేజ్ కాస్త ల్యాగ్ అనిపిస్తుంది. ట్విస్టులు ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. కొన్ని ట్విస్టులను ముందే ఊహించడం పెద్ద కష్టమేమీ కాదు. సినిమా నిడివి కేవలం రెండు గంటలు మాత్రమే కావడం పెద్ద ప్లస్ పాయింట్. హీరో కంటే విలన్‌ను పవర్‌ఫుల్‌గా చూపించడం సినిమాను మరింత ఆసక్తికరంగా మార్చింది.

థ్రిల్లర్ సినిమాకు బ్యాక్‌గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ చాలా ముఖ్యం. హర్షవర్థన్ రామేశ్వర్ తన మ్యూజిక్‌తో సినిమాను నిలబెట్టాడు. సాయి శ్రీరామ్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ విజువల్స్‌ను రిచ్‌గా చూపించింది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు బాగున్నాయి.

ఇక నటీనటుల విషయానికి వస్తే... ఆది సాయికుమార్‌కు ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు కొత్తేమీ కాదు. ఎప్పటిలాగానే అర్జున్ పాత్రలో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. ఇక రియా సుమన్ పాత్ర ఒక పాటకే పరిమితం. ఆ తర్వాత తన స్క్రీన్ స్పేస్ కూడా తక్కువగానే ఉంటుంది. ఉన్నంతలో సినిమాకు గ్లామర్‌ను అందించింది. విలన్ సిద్ధార్థ్ పాత్రలో కనిపించిన మైమ్ గోపి కూడా గతంలో ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు చేశాడు. కాబట్టి నటీనటుల విషయంలో వైవిధ్యం పెద్దగా కనిపించదు.

ఓవరాల్‌గా చెప్పాలంటే... ఈ సంవత్సరం ఆది సాయికుమార్ నటించిన సినిమాల్లో ఇది బెస్ట్ అని చెప్పవచ్చు. థ్రిల్లర్ లవర్స్‌కు నచ్చే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది.

Aadi Sai Kumar is battling with a series of failures. His last film Crazy Fellow got okay talk but the film failed to rake in moolah at the theatres. He is now banking on a crime thriller Top Gear directed by debutante Sasikanth. Will Aadi deliver this time around? Let’s check it out.

What is it about?

Arjun (Aadi) a happy-go-lucky guy who works as a cab driver and loves his newly-wed wife Aadya (Riya Suman). He goes to duty like any other day. But on the fateful day, people who are involved in a big crime hire his cab. They are connected to a most-wanted drug peddler (Mime Gopi). What forms rest is how Arjun gets involved and how he overcomes the hurdles that come his way.

Performances :

Aadi Sai Kumar is alright as an innocent who gets part in a serious crime. He is okay as a helpless cab driver. His role requires more dynamism to deal with this. Riya Suman is confined to the role of a dependent wife. Her role offers nothing much. Mime Gopi shines as the main baddie Siddharth. Playing a dreaded villain is his cup of tea and he does his part. Shatru as ACP is okay. Narra Srinu, Brahmaji, Satyam Rajesh are good in their portions. All the characters in the film have limitations owing to the writing. Too many characters also take away the steam. 

Technicalities :

Top Gear is bogged down by half-baked writing laced with predictable elements. The flat screenplay makes the film disengaging and disconnecting. Debutante director Shashikanth suffered with the second-half syndrome. BGM is the blessing in disguise. Less run-time turned out to be good for this crime drama.

Making a thriller is not a cakewalk. Audiences are exposed to nail-biting thrillers on OTT space. So, our makers should also hone their writing skills. Aadi Sai Kumar’s Top Gear is a crime thriller on paper. But it is not fully developed. The take off of the story is alright and till the interval, the film holds the audience with its okayish writing. It just sets the tone and mood. The real story begins only post interval. But what comes in the second half is a total let down. It is marred by the predictable elements and flat narration. However, there are certain elements in the first half, which rescue audiences to an extent.

The second-half needed more attention in terms of writing and direction to make it more engaging. In many parts, the film misses out on some logic. One wonders why doesn’t the cab driver immediately alert police personnel at the initial portions although he gets the decent chances to escape from the culprits. There are so many bullets fired at the protagonist and he gets away easily. There are many characters in the film who get killed one after the other creating some confusion. The makers took certain cinematic liberties which put audiences off, particularly it is a disappointing experience to the fans of the thriller genre.

The film rushes towards its climax, clearly for the convenience of the makers. Overall, Top Gear is bogged down by the brakes used by the makers itself. It fails to thrill. It is a bumpy cab ride from Aadi and the team. 

Bottom-line: Wrong Ride
